THOUGH MARIE PFARR is a top seller of Mary Kay beauty and skin care products, her interest in her work and her belief in the values of her company are more than skin deep. Pfarr was introduced to the Mary Kay company during a time in her life when she had transitioned from a teaching career to being a stayat-home mom. At a beauty show, she was invited to learn more about business opportunities offered through Mary Kay. Though initially a bit apprehensive, Pfarr moved forward with the offer to learn more. This decision proved life-changing for Pfarr and her family. In her words, “It’s been the best personal growth opportunity I’ve ever had.” Pfarr was honored in late June at the Frank Boucher Chevy Cadillac Store, 8600 Washington Avenue, in Racine, Wisconsin with a celebration of her role as a top Mary Kay salesperson. She was presented with a custom-made pink Cadillac bearing her name and the silver Mary Kay emblem. This is Pfarr’s twelfth time earning this honor, and therefore her twelfth pink Cadillac. “It’s driving the dream,” Pfarr said, when asked about how she feels when behind the wheel of her custom car. THE NAUTICAL COLLECTION Born from a 115-year heritage of crafting fine maritime timepieces, Chelsea Clock nautical clocks offer extraordinary precision and durability. Now at Hawkins Clocks Center in downtown West Allis. SINCE 1897, the Chelsea Clock Company has been making the finest ships’ clocks here in the USA.A Chelsea Ship’s Bell clock is an exquisite time machine–each one an individual work of art–made by an elite group of master clockmakers with the same relentless precision and craft for more than 100 years. Since the turn of the 19th century, Chelsea clocks have been deeply rooted in a tradition of keeping time at sea. Their nautical clocks have sailed the seas with the US military and graced the ocean’s most expensive yachts. The Ship’s Bell Clock Regarded as Chelsea’s signature timepiece, the Ship’s Bell is renowned by mariners and collectors worldwide. Each clock is designed to last for generations. For more than a century, the clocks have been assembled by hand in their original factory just outside of Boston. This distinctive, handcrafted timepiece signals the passing of time with gentle rich-sounding chimes–eight bells at 4, 8 and 12 o’clock–to mark the end of a mariner’s four-hour watch. One bell marks the first half hour after the watch begins, plus one additional bell is added with each subsequent half hour. Behind its classic hand-silvered dial, 364 precision brass parts, many plated with gold, and 11 jewel movements–all of which are made in Chelsea, Massachusetts–ensure accuracy in time and enduring quality for Continued on page 29
