The music hall is packed and the music begins. But instead of experiencing that quieting, rhapsodic feeling that accompanies the beginning of a show at Uihlein Hall, a surprise will take place that stirs the audience in their seats. Aerial flyers might descend from lines attached to the ceiling while performing daring moves choreographed to the music, or a floor act of acrobats might take their place before the musicians. The elegant and agile movements that ensue will initiate the audience into what will be no ordinary performance. Aerial twirling will be one of many surprises at the

Safety comes first. Rather than using machinery to lift up aerial acts, he prefers to do it by hand. “It makes the act more natural and beautiful,” Alexander said. And it proves to be safe. There have been no accidents at a Cirque performance to date, and they’ve been performing for ten years. Many of the performers have been schooled in some kind of acrobatics or gymnastics. But it takes a little extra from the performer to be able to work with the Cirque. Working with the choreography and being able to do the physical act in concert with the orchestra is the key to a successful show. “Performing with the Cirque de la Symphonie is the pinnacle for cirque artists,” Alexander said. The acts are done in front of a large live audience, either in mid-air or with fifteen feet of stage space, “performing on stage with the symphony blowing at your back,” he added. It can be a lot of pressure. Despite the pressure, Vitallii Buza, aerial performer and Cyr, wheel performer, has excelled while working with the Cirque. Bill Allen said that he has watched Vitallii’s act evolve since he came on board a number of years ago. Vitallii too feels that he feeds on the music and that he feels the excitement of the audience. “There’s a very strong feeling being on stage with a full symphony behind you,” Vitallii said. The energy received from the music pays off in terms of the quality of performance. At a recent show, Vitallii received a solo standing ovation right after his act.

STRIKING GIFT SETS TAKE CARE OF EVERY BEAUTY NEED

Although the picturesque décor of the Christmas Fantasy House invites us to enjoy the spirit of the season, the real charm of this event isn’t simply the ornamentation. Because of the generosity and the kindness of Loretta Thomson this yearly event continues to benefit those in need. Loretta Thomson was a dedicated volunteer and supporter. It was her goal to have an annual Christmas Fantasy House. Thomson’s festive and unique collection of holiday decorations paired with her charitable character created this Christmas event in the greater Milwaukee area. Without Thomson’s drive and dream, this event may never have happened. Her loving disposition for the happiness of others, especially children,
