The Art Junque Community Not only has Wisconsin Artist Bonnie Lynn Loduha used her imagination to create a niche in the gift and collectibles market with Hawthorne Hill Farm, she has also opened the doors to her farmhouse studio to host a community of creative, artistic women. With ongoing workshops, classes & monthly gathering groups, the Art Junque Community is a place of friendship, imagination, creativity and art. What we do here: Clubhouse Tuesday - Open Studio is a monthly event where we throw open the doors to the clubhouse studio, gather up the chairs and hang out in creative artsy-girlfriend community! This is an opportunity to bring whatever you are currently working on, bring completed projects to show and share, get inspired, exchange project ideas, ask questions on products or technique or just come hang out with the Art Junquette tribe! (Clubhouse Tuesday is a free of charge gathering!) The ART ‘n Soul Collage: Meeting the third Thursday of each month and using found images & ephemera, heart and soul collage is an intuitive visual storytelling and creative process - something easy, fun and expressive that anyone can do! Cutting out, gluing and assembling found images, we gather together creating an artistic and creative way of expressing ourselves using symbolic imagery and words. (this gathering is free of charge) Mixed Media: We offer a variety of classes & workshops, and teach everything from basic supplies and techniques to assemblage and completed projects. Starting with wood, metal, canvas and/or paper, our projects enable individual creativity to flourish and participants leave with a completed piece of mixed media art for their home or studio. You can join The Art Junque Community on Facebook. The Calendar of Events is found there as well as where to RSVP and sign up for workshops. The Gathering location is in the Farmhouse Art Junque Studio at Hawthorne Hill Farm, located at 16370 Small Road in New Berlin, WI (near I43 & the Ridge Cinema, West on Small Road) For any other Questions call Bonnie Lynn at 414-688-5854. n WISCONSIN COUNTRY LIFE

Selling antiques Your & collectibles W

hen downsizing or selling your items, consider the worldwide market, not just Milwaukee, Chicago or even the Midwest. Imagine your heirloom or classic car going to a museum in Copenhagen Denmark, or to a collector in the United Kingdom or Australia. This is the reality of today’s worldwide auction market and how to successfully sell your antique or vintage item for top dollar. Whether a vintage car, musical instrument, classic McIntosh or Marantz stereo system, gold and silver coins, sterling silver flatware or other item, an auction is the best format so everyone competes, and when opened up to worldwide bidding, these and many other items can bring prices that are simply amazing. The keys include a stellar company reputation and an understanding of worldwide shipping logistics, auctions that include many high resolution photos, a video, and accurate description. Does the item need to be in excellent condition? Not at all. What you may not know is that The Sell It Now Store™ specializes in helping you sell everything from vintage cars to coins. They understand the items, the worldwide market and what it takes to sell your item for top dollar using multiple global channels. The Sell It Now Store™ also takes care of all logistics. While other auction houses and consignment shops can sell your item, The Sell It Now Store™ are experts at valuing and successfully selling antiques and collectibles worldwide. This includes finding the correct venue for the sale of your item. They take care of everything and sell a single item to a complete estate. The key to the successful sale of your items is the overseas market.

The process is simple–give them a call for a free valuation. When the bidding ends, you will be amazed at how much that antique or collectible item sold for. You might be even more surprised what country it sold to! The Sell It Now Store™ is Wisconsin licensed auction house and are available by appointment at 2315 Badger Drive in Waukesha, WI. They can also be found on the web at www.sellitnowstore.com. Items That Sell Just a few if the many items they sell include sports, classic and muscle cars, silver and gold coins, musical instruments that include guitars and amplifiers, vintage stereo and hi-fi equipment, advertising memorabilia, coin operated slot machines, jukeboxes, pinball machines, automobilia that includes signs, gas pumps, and many other collectible items. Give them a call at 414-727-0600. You will be happy you did.

Holiday Decorating Holiday decorating starts with an individual inspiration. Whether you are creating a tabletop display or creating wreaths or garlands you must remember to layer textures, colors and heights. The picture of this classic cream chest depicts all of the above. Neutral tones of cream, beige, and gold are crisp and accent the mixed pine branches. Holiday decorating does not have to have a high price tag. Be creative and use what you have by swapping out pillows, throws and even artwork. Heirloom ornaments are another way to dazzle tables, vases and wine glasses. Move your furniture pieces around to create conversation groupings for guests stopping by. Incorporate quality artificial foliage if getting fresh greens are not in your budget every year. Garlands that are lush will warm up banisters and mantels or even serve as a tabletop for your holiday table. Christmas decorating is a welcome chance to show off what you have collected through the years. Key Pieces does holiday consults. Whether you need help with your trees, banisters, mantels, or holiday tables please call or stop by the boutique to be inspired! Happy holidays to all! A Perfect Wine Pairing for Holiday Parties With the holidays quickly approaching, it is time to begin planning menus and shopping for groceries, which may leave you facing endless shelves of wine. Choosing wines to pair with your holiday meal is an important part of the menu planning process. A smart rule is to select quality wines that pair with a variety of dishes, such as crisp, medium-bodied chardonnays and medium-to-full-bodied, flavorful merlots. “I love having a bright, crisp chardonnay on hand for holiday entertaining,” said Katie Madigan, winemaker at St. Francis Winery. “Chardonnay complements so many holiday flavors. It’s a great choice to serve with appetizers and it also transitions nicely to dinner.” A certified sustainable winery in Sonoma County, California, St. Francis Winery offers a full range of varietal wines ideal for holiday 22

entertaining, such as the St. Francis Sonoma County Chardonnay 2015 (SRP $16.99), which is made from grapes picked in the cool of night to create delicate aromas, crisp acidity and a rich, lingering finish. With notes of fresh pear and pineapple, it pairs well with mild cheeses and rich seafood appetizers, such as Pan Fried Crab Cakes. If you are looking for inspiration to get your holiday menu planning started, consider this simple hors d’oeuvre, which can be made the night before and cooked just before guests arrive. Pair it with a chilled glass of crisp chardonnay to start the party off just right. A complementary option for guests who prefer red wine is the Sonoma Valley Merlot (SRP $20.99). This wine has multiple layers of aromatics with flavors of red cherry, plum, dried cranberry, espresso bean and WISCONSIN COUNTRY LIFE

In large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, green onions, egg yolks, lemon juice, tarragon, cilantro, mustard, lemon peel and black pepper. Add crabmeat and 1 cup panko, breaking up crabmeat slightly. Let mix stand 10 minutes. Form crab mixture into 16 2-inch patties, using about 1/4 cup for each cake. Place patties on baking sheet. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours. Using remaining panko, lightly coat each crab cake. Heat two heavy, large skillets over medium-high heat. In each skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add crab cakes to skillets and cook until golden on both sides (adding more butter and oil as needed), about 5 minutes total. Transfer cakes to napkins to drain excess oil. Plate crab cakes with dollop of remoulade on top. n
