Gales astronomical calendar wall clock is one of their offerings. It is the larger version, being 24" across. This very interesting Clock was manufactured at the Welch Spring & Co. In addition to telling the time, it displays the weeks of the year, days of the week, day of the month (including knowing when a leap year) and the moon phases! Gordon ’s _ Gordon Kirsten, how long have you been in business? How did you get started? I was a dealer, and doing shows Part Time since 1972, and increased my time commitment to Full Time since 1981. We are now in our 47th year! What changes have you seen over the years open? Customers tastes as well as my own are always changing! Fads always push prices up, only to fall once the fad disappears. I have always gone with my knowledge that “high quality tells and sells!” You will see proof of this in what has been purchased, and is incredibly displayed in over 5,000-square-feet of shop space, filling 2 levels of a heated, circa 1888 old historic barn! What do you most Love about your Industry? There is always something new to explore! Every call to check out an item, collection, estate, or auction is like a treasure hunt! I love to learn the history, and past stories of where “what are the roots of where an item is from.” It is a great reward for me to find the rare items, or finding something in more pristine condition than I have ever seen before! I love making these discoveries available to my customers. What are some of the common myths you come across in your business? That we buy at Rummage sales!? Our quality far exceeds anything usually available at yard sales. I have been asked is this a Hobby Business?! When you come in, you will see that I have much more invested, time and money-wise to be just a hobby…it is a full time commitment. The last common myth I can think of is “that values always go up”. Sometimes, Yes, but buy something because you love it, not as an investment. What message would you most like to share with people? We have GREAT Stuff! I am helpful and have extensive knowledge about all I carry, and would love to share it with you! Now is a perfect time to stop in, Our Annual

I have many, many cases filled and organized including a case full of toys, bisque, Oriental, pottery, vintage Christmas, many filled with jewelry, and so much more! What is the biggest compliment customers give you? Simply by saying this is a great shop! makes me proud of what I have I offer to all who visit! What are you most proud of? In this order…#1 my wife who supports me. #2 my children and family, and #3 this place! (All I have gathered, priced and organized at Antiques at Gordon’s!) How many employees/family work with you? It is always me you will find manning my shop during all business hours. My wife helps at Antique shows (when there were some!) I also value her “down to earth” thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. What are you most grateful for? So much! If it wasn’t for word of mouth, and calls from trusting customers and to come check out one piece, a collection or an entire estate, I would not have the incredible offering I do today! What are some of the categories I can expect to choose from when visiting your shop? Too many to mention all, but I do feature fine furniture, period to Country Pine; American Indian, perfume bottles, Asian, a huge postcard selection, and other paper, porcelain, jewelry, art glass, beautiful lighting, prints, many one of a kinds to cases full of what you are looking for! Who/what can you credit your success? My wife who is very understanding , patient, and allows me the time to do all I do to make the shop what it is! I do have to give a little credit to myself as well, being bullheaded, stubborn, patient and meticulous. All this helps to survive the ups and downs of this type of business as well as creating a very clean, neat and organized shopping experience for all! Cal Anderson, how long have you been in business? How did you get started? I have been involved in this business for over 22 years, collecting, picking, buying, & doing shows. I have owned my brick and mortar location at 717 North Grandview (Hwy T in Waukesha) for the last 6 years. What changes have you seen over the years open? Because Value is driven by supply and demand, the amount of products is far exceeding the demand of many items today. What do you most Love about your Industry? I Love seeing all the History! So many pieces from our past that come through my door still amaze me and are awesome to see! What are some of the common myths you come across in your business? That everything has value, and if it is old it is worth more. There are many more factors that play into determining value, and demand. What message would you most like to share with people? Thank you for supporting my small business! Whether it is bringing in your quality items to consign, stopping in frequently to see what is new, or discovering all I have to offer for the first time, I sincerely value your interest, and business! What would you like people to know about your business? 100% of what you see in my extensive 3,000-square-feet selection of Collectables & Mantiques, is here on Consignment. I currently have items from over 400 consignors! I really think this helps add to the variety, and diversification you will see offered every time you stop in. Because my passion is in old toys, collectables, and any kind of vintage man stuff (mantiques) the guys who stop in are amazed at the huge offering of all they loved as a kid, and still do! The biggest compliment is when many customers say “this is a Great Place”, or that our store “reminds them of many pleasant memories of their past” Another great compliment is when once a customer discovers us, they return back weekly, often, or travel long distances to get here, “Because they had to get back!” What are you most proud of? My loyal customers, clients, and consignors...without them we would not exist! How many employees/Family work with you? I have no employees. Previously, my wife Barb supported me, and helped dramatically
with many aspects of our business. Sadly, she passed away in 2019. My son, Justin helps occasionally, when he can. What are you most grateful for? My family, friends, and customers, many who have become great friends, fellow business owners, my congregation, and those who just “come in to check on what’s new.” What are some of the categories I can expect to choose from when visiting your shop? Antiques, collectables of all sorts! Games, mantiques including toy cars, breweriana, automobilia, wood working tools, trains, tons of models, comic books, magazines, advertising, fishing items, sports, and more! Who/what can you credit your success? From my business beginnings, my late wife, Barb always supported me and
helped any way she could. I miss her and her faithful help in running this business. I also have to give huge credit to my Consignors, and customers, and the treasures they bring in! Every day is a new adventure, never knowing what fun item, or boxful they will show up with. It truly makes this one of the most rewarding, fun jobs a guy could be part of! 2oz Goat Cheese 4oz Cream Cheese 1/8 tsp Granulated Garlic 1/8 tsp Finely chopped dried Rosemary (optional) 2oz Sweet P’s Pantry Rosemary Salt & Pepper Pecans Mix goat cheese, cream cheese, garlic, and rosemary (if using) together with fork by hand or hand mixer on low. Place cheese mixture in the center of plastic wrap. Bring end of wrap over cheese mixture and roll into log.Unravel wrap and place cheeselog on plate chopped rosemary Salt & Pepper pecans. Roll log in pecans until evenly coated. Wrap log in clean sheet of plastic wrap and refrigerate until use. Bring to room temperature before serving. To serve: place cheese log on serving plate and surround with dried fruits, like apricots, dates, figs. Garnish with fresh rosemary and grapes. Serve with water crackers or baguette slices. A traditional drink that’s easy to make when entertaining, it can be easy to put your own personal twists on the Bloody Mary. In this iteration, ditch the celery stick and complement your spicy beverage with cheese-filled perogies and bacon. For more beverage recipes, visit www.Culinary.net. Bloody Mary 1 teaspoon red pepper sauce 1 bottle (64 ounces) tomato juice 2 cups vodka 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons lime juice ice wooden skewers 6 cheese-filled perogies, baked according to package directions 6 slices bacon, cooked until crispy In large pitcher, combine red pepper sauce, tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce and lime juice; stir well. In glasses, pour over ice. Using wooden skewer, garnish each Bloody Mary with a cheesefilled perogy and bacon slice.

Chocolate When it’s cold outside, start up the fireplace, get your favorite slippers on, wrap up in a warm blanket and snuggle on the couch with this delicious White Hot Chocolate. White Hot Chocolate 3 cups Half & Half 2/3 cup white chocolate baking pieces 1 3 inch cinnamon stick 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp almond extract Ground Cinnamon (optional) Whipped Cream (optional) In a medium saucepan combine 1/4 of the half & half, white chocolate baking pieces, cinnamon stick and nutmeg. Stir over low to medium heat until white chocolate is melted. Add remaining half & half. Stir and cook until heated through. Remove from heat. Discard cinnamon stick. Add in vanilla and almond extract. Stir until mixed through. Pour into your favorite mug(s). Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
