Pardeeville ANTIQUES MALL Owners Barb and Matt Kitson talk about their business. How many years have you been in business? We were dealers for four years. It was just a hobby. Then we bought the mall in August, 2006. It’s been 17 years. How did you get started? We were dealers in the mall when it went up for sale. We thought “why not” and we happened to be crazy enough at the time to take a chance. Never looked back. What made you decide on your current location? It was just there… and the town was called Pardeeville. Of course we thought “Partyville” What changes have you seen or made over the years open? First we moved all the consignment items out, and brought in dealers. Then we got out the paint brushes. Can paint with my eyes closed. What do you most Love about your Industry? Absolutely no doubt, it’s all the amazing people we’ve met. We never thought we would have so many new friends. What are some of the common myths you come across in your business? We always hear folks saying that only old people like this stuff. Nothing could be farther from the truth. What message would you most like to share with people? Don’t be afraid to chase your dream, but be ready to work hard. Good things don’t come easy.

Pardeeville Antiques Mall How many booths/vendors do you feature in your 2 level mall? We think we have more than just dealers. We feature over 95 fabulous little shops under one roof. What months of the year is your outside selection available? Our vendors are allowed to put as many items as they can round up to place outside. It runs from the beginning of March, until the end of October. What else would you like people to know about your business? Even if you’ve never been interested in antiques, you should come and give it a look. You never know what you might find! We like to think we have something for everyone! What is the biggest compliment customers give you? We love hearing what a great selection we have, and how clean and organized it is. Our customers love how things are always changing and how our dealers create unsurpassed displays. What are you most proud of? Ourselves! We can’t believe how well we’ve done. This was something we never imagined we would be doing. This has been so rewarding.

How many employees/Family work with you? We’re always adding to our family of helpers. Right now we have five friends, and seven family members helping us make it happen. The only requirement we have is that everyone has fun! What are you most grateful for? The friends we’ve made. What are some of the biggest events/sales you hold during the year? We have one sale a year. It always falls on the week of Valentines Day. 15% off store wide! I believe we have it posted in this issue. Who/what can you credit your success? We’re fortunate to have outstanding dealers, with outstanding inventory, and outstanding customers! Of course we’ve surrounded ourselves with amazing friends and family. ~

Antique Mall Owner Charlie Solomon talks about her business. How many years have you been in business? 30 years as of September 2023. How did you get started? My husband and one of our dear friends thought that it would be a great idea. What made you decide on your current location? We owned the property, and the building became vacant What changes have you seen or made over the years open? Changes were made when, and if we thought it necessary to stay with the times and going on computers! What do you most Love about your Industry? The customers sharing their memories and history about “the good old days.” What are some of the common myths you come across in your business? The largest myth is when people have been told something they have is antique and worth money when it’s not. What message would you most like to share with people? When you are looking for a “different” special gift, try your local Antiques Shop. Finding something special or personable is so rewarding. How many booths/vendors do you feature in your mall? 28. What months of the year is your outside selection available? April through October. What else would you like people to know about your business? We have fantastic, honest dealers, are well stocked and have great prices.

We are always sharing knowledge and information. What are you most proud of? All of my dealers and the fantastic job they do. How many employees/Family work with you? Approximately 30. What are you most grateful for? For all my dealers that work the desk and others who help at the desk on weekends and Holidays. What are some of the biggest events/sales you hold during the year? We do not hold a lot of “Sales” We do Holiday special events. We do fair pricing and offer restricted discounts on large items. Who/what can you credit your success? First to my husband Tom. He, being a businessman himself, helped me set-up and get started and has had my back for 30 years. Second, my friend and manager, Karen Hartay. She is truly “gold” to me. ~

Here’s a very unique hand made, one of a kind steam engine. This crazy old piece is out of the early 1900s. It was made from scratch by BJ Kemp, St. Neot, Cornwall. It was made from everything but the kitchen sink…but if you look hard enough, I think there might a sink that’s hiding in there somewhere. Very cool piece for the collector that has everything. Available at Pardeeville Antique Mall, located at 103 Industrial Drive, Pardeeville, WI. They are open 6 days a week, 10am-4pm. Closed Wednesdays. Call 608-429-9393 or check www.Pardeevilleantiques.com for more information. The perfect day trip from every direction!

This majolica syrup pitcher with a pewter lid, dates from the mid to late 19th century. Majolica wares are both useful and decorative and usually appear in a naturalistic style. This piece resembles those of Baileys of Alloa, Scotland. The leaf motif may be that of a sycamore tree. Bh Home-Blue Heron Antiques is modern home furnishings combined with curated quality antiques. Cran-Raspberry Layer: 1/2 cup cranberry sauce 1/4 cup orange juice 1 teaspoon orange zest 2 cups fresh raspberries 1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted 2 cups gluten-free vanilla cookies, chopped 1/2 cup fresh raspberries

To make quinoa pudding: Prepare quinoa according to package directions, substituting almond milk for water. Drain, reserving almond milk. Cook, stirring constantly, 5-8 minutes, or until thickened slightly. Refrigerate 45-60 minutes, or until well chilled. To make creamy yogurt layer: In large bowl, stir yogurt, honey and vanilla.
