LAMMSCAPES!
How long have you been in business?
John Lamm began his landscape career in 1960 with grading and landscape installation in Glendale, WI. In 1966 he moved his business to Jackson, WI and the company, John Lamm of Jackson, Inc. was established. LAMMSCAPES! became our marketing name in 2003 and we offer landscape design, installation and year-round maintenance services. Our Colorscapes program helps beautify homes and businesses in every season. Lamm Gardens, our seasonal retail area has plants, garden art, and items created by local artisans. We offer workshops and events for all ages to learn and enjoy!
How did you get started?
I grew up in the family business, my first job was watering the flowers with my little sprinkling can at about 4 years old. My mom and grandma took care of the plants so I would be with them, plus playing in the sandbox with the kids that came along with their families to the garden center. My brother, Hans, also grew up helping with landscape work and learning all the equipment and construction materials.
What changes have you seen over the years open?
Lots of them! New plant varieties every year and more choices of plants and items for gardens, outdoor living spaces and seasonal displays. Technology in landscape with virtual

What do you most Love about your Industry?
Helping people with plants, being outside and we’re surrounded by beauty every day! A perfect work environment!
What are some of the common myths you come across in your business?
Watering a plant a couple times will not keep it growing. Plants need patience, they don’t grow overnight and sometimes take years to get established. They are living things and need care just like people.
What message would you most like to share with people?
You’re never too young to get outside and spend time in nature! Plant flowers, veggies, trees and memories with your children. Spend time with family, relax and enjoy a healthy lifestyle while getting your hands dirty and enjoying what the earth has to offer.
What would you like people to know about your business?
We are family owned and operated and our team is like family too. Every member of our team is important and we enjoy helping and sharing our love for the outdoors, creating landscapes and bringing beauty to homes and businesses.
What is the biggest compliment customers give you?
We love and appreciate referrals and just an email, call or post that says Thank you! When customers come back and tell us how well their plants are doing, how big their tree has grown and how they love spending time in their outdoor space–we love to hear about it!
What are you most proud of?
Working together with family and a team of employees that have been here for many years and are like family! Most of our core team has been here 10-25 years and our seasonal employees return every season.
How many employees/Family work with you?
My parents, Hans and I work together with several of our children, as 3 of them help in the business between college and classes. We have about 30-35 employees in our main season of Spring through Fall, as well as snow services team in Winter.
What are you most grateful for?
Family, good health and God’s blessings every day as we work in His creation and are

Roscoe Woodstock
Antique Mall
Owners Ted London and Gaylene Stomberg talk about their business.
How long have you been in business?
We originally started in Roscoe IL in 1998, so we have been in business 26 years! We now call Historic Woodstock, IL our home! We have grown into a large building filled with dealers that bring a huge assortment of quality Antiques, Victorian Furniture, Vintage Holiday, Jewelry and so much more you can’t find elsewhere! Woodstock is also the home to “Dick Tracy” cartoonist, Chester Gould and was the filming location to the classic movie, “Groundhog Day” starring Bill Murray! Take a day trip antiquing with us and immerse yourself in a town filled with Historic charm. We’re located just 20 miles south of Lake Geneva!
How did you get started?
Gaylene found her passion when renovating a Victorian house and then furnishing it with antiques, which led to opening an antique store. Ted was raised in the business as his father owned a second hand/antique store, where he discovered his talent for finding merchandise and selling it. He has a passion for quartersawn oak furniture as well as coin-op items found in country stores and saloons in across America in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. His buying and selling of slot machines soon
led to also repairing and restoring them. So what started as an antique mall has grown into so much more!
What changes have you seen over the years open?
What people collect changes as time progresses. As people reach a point of having some disposable income, they begin to collect things that remind them of their youth…things that they, their parents, or grandparents owned, or the things they admired or desired and now had the ability to own:)
What do you most Love about your Industry?
The people we meet. Collectors are passionate about the things they collect. They enjoy sharing their collections, their stories, and their excitement! We have seen the most amazing homes and collections!
What are some of the common myths you come across in your business?
That “everything old is valuable” and that “everything in Grandma’s house is an antique” What message would you most like to share with people?
Buy what you like…buy authentic items not reproductions…buy the best you can afford
What would you like people to know about your business?
That we have a great group of dealers who work very hard to supply an amazing assortment of merchandise for our customers
What is the biggest compliment customers give you?
Everyday we are complimented on having such a vast assortment of “real antiques”, on the attractive, organized displays which are always changing, on the staff that is always eager to help, and for having clean bathrooms!
What are you most proud of?
That we have been able to keep our high standards for so many years.

Evening Eating
Conventional diet wisdom calls for avoiding carbs, having an early dinner and avoiding eating too close to bedtime. However, strategically eating during the evening hours can actually be an effective weight loss strategy.
In fact, a plan like the one highlighted in “Always Eat After 7 PM,” written by Joel Marion, CISSN, NSCA-CPT, fivetime best-selling e-book author and cofounder of the e-commerce supplement company BioTrust Nutrition, debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense cravings by eating the majority of your calories at night. The outlined plan features a 14-day “acceleration phase” designed for rapid results, a “main phase” when you’ll learn which fat-burning foods to eat to achieve your weight loss goals and a “lifestyle phase” to keep the weight off for good.

Morning Boost: Blueberry Vinegar Smoothie
Rethinking the way you eat (and drink) doesn’t have to mean a colossal shift in your diet. According to Healthline, clean eating and the addition of a small amount of apple cider vinegar to your daily routine can help support healthy digestion, weight range maintenance, healthy glucose levels and a functioning immune system. In fact, some experts recommend consuming 1 ounce of apple cider vinegar each day as a shot or part of a recipe.
Consider an apple cider vinegar option from Marukan, which has brewed premium vinegars for 370 years, to create dishes from breakfast to dinner. Start your day by enjoying this Blueberry Apple Cider Vinegar Smoothie that takes just 5 minutes to make so it doesn’t throw off your morning routine.
A quick, nutritious and easy weeknight
dinner is what many families strive for, and you can accomplish that feat with Apple Cider Vinegar Beef and Broccoli. Cooked broccoli florets and beef strips are combined with an apple cider vinegar and ponzu soy dressing-based sauce and served over cooked rice for a 20-minute meal your loved ones can savor together while simultaneously enhancing your nutrition.
These recipes can help you participate in the Marukan Apple Cider Vinegar 24-Day Challenge, which encourages entrants to consume 1 ounce of apple cider vinegar each day and share the benefits they experience while creating daily wellness habits on their journeys to healthier routines.
Find more information about participating in the challenge along with nutritiourecipes at MarukanACV.com.
