Editorial There are the two ladies that you won’t see that much around during the session but….yes, we are here! We take care of your lovely journos, teach them good manners and how to behave at different events of the session (just kidding, there are doing a great job by themselves). Editresses… You’ll most probably hear their voices for the first time during the closing ceremony and find out that they are surviving by drinking Vanilla Cola. Sometimes you love them and sometimes you don’t. However, the most important thing is to talk about them. What is hot: • We choose the pictures so that we are the ones that can boost your popularity. • We are truly committed to leaving you the best memories ever. • We oversee the content of the newspaper and we can manipulate things as we want • We can allow our journos to stay with you more time than they actually can. What is not: • we can wake up later and we are free to organise our work as we want. • we can skip all the boring events with the excuse of the newspaper. Most of you wonder why you haven’t recieved this issue earlier. Well, this is what happens when Murphy’s law decides to mercilessly attack the pressroom. Sometimes you find yourself wondering what other obstacles it’s possible to meet in your way and why luck has suddenly turned her back on you. It’s those moments that everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Laptop breakdown, a virus which attacked the basic editing software and a day which refuses to gain more than 24 hours despite all magic tricks, prayers and bribes we tried out. However, finally we can say that we are here and we hope to see your smiley faces after reading “the Daily Omnomnom”. And remember: C is for cookie, D for Delegates and F for fun!

ITRE II Caleb Morell is a funny, good-acting

Swedish guy. He lives in Stockholm, were he attends High School. This isn’t the

first time Caleb is in Ukraine, he actually

participated in the International Session in Lviv. According to his own words it was “Whoa! Crazy awesome!”.

The strangest thing Caleb ever experienced in EYP was “being in an official

position with an official before he was an official”. What this exactly means? We don’t know, his lips are sealed…

His co-chair is a smart and always-smiling girl named Uliana Rusetska. At the moment she lives in Kiev, where she studies management.

Once at a session in Belgium, she got questioned by the Belgian police. At first Uliana didn’t tell us why,

but after some more questioning we finally figured it out: she was walking on the street at 3 o’clock in the morning, in a cowgirl outfit, playing with a lasso. Suddenly we understand the Belgian police a lot better.

EYP® Patient Information Leaflet

> Jorge Simelio and Luca Wartna drug deep into the files of European Youth Laboratories.

Dear readers, As you all may by now imagine, EYP® is a drug. Self-medication is a very serious issue, and one should not go for attending sessions without knowing all the implications. Luckily, your lovely journos Luca and Jorge dug deep into the files of European Youth Laboratories® and found a Patient Information Leaflet that is perfectly suited to this occasion. Please read this now, as the implications for your health may be serious. Yours sincerely, Luca and Jorge EYP® Patient Information Leaflet: Read this leaflet carefully in its entirety, as it contains very important information. What is EYP® / Why take EYP®?: EYP® is a non-partisan, non-profit organisation established in 1987. It’s a platform for political debate and intercultural exchange among youngsters from various European countries. The treatment consists of attending ‘sessions’ with the aim to raise awareness of European issues and promote diversity of ideas and traditions. EYP® fights the symptoms of political apathy by elevating patients’ awareness of the overall social climate. Its use is appropriate in cases of uncontrollable urge of coming in contact with points of view different to one’s own. How is EYP® used: As a preparation for treatment or delegates’ research on a given topic. They then attend a session where the above mentioned topic is discussed and a resolution is finally drafted. Composition: Physical composition per 118 participants (based on the FrankNational session): Delegates: 80 Chairpersons: 16 including: - President 1 - Vice-President 2 Organisers: 12 Journalists: 8 Editresses: 2 What forms does EYP® come in?: Regional Session Syrup: national regulations vary. National Session Caplets: to be administered once or twice a year. 100-150 users per time. International Session Cream: to be taken three times a year in spring, summer and autumn. 300 users per time.

11

Side effects of EYP®: 20,000/20,000 estimated participants have experienced PED after every session they attended. 90/100 learnt words in a foreign language. 1/1000 EYP®ers were scarred for life and ended in using operative clauses in their daily lives. 5,000/10,000 participants reported Facebook addiction triggered by trying to keep in touch with the international friends made in various sessions. 500/1000 participants no longer find it embarrassing to dance and sing in public areas. In a survey recently conducted in the FRANKnational, 100 participants were seen practising Western Ukranian wedding rituals. Benefits of EYP®: Acquiring of language skills: non-native English speakers improve their skills and raise their confidence when speaking English in daily life. Improvement of problem-solving skills: Teambuilding games and activities trigger communication among committee members and multiply their ability to work towards a common goal. Negotiation: participants learn to listen to others’ opinions while defending their own, becoming more tolerant toward other cultures and opinions. How to conserve an EYP® session: Special moments, committee jokes, cheers, and other session memorabilia are stored in the session newspapers, blogs and photos posted online. Session newspapers should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. General notes: Treatment is to be intensive and can range from 3 to 10 days in duration. Do NOT interrupt treatment before the conclusion of a session. There is no maximum recommended number of sessions to attend. FRANK tasting or A delicious bite from Ukraine > Emilia Florczak and Paul Jeremy Zaleski investigate on what the Regional-Village is all about. Are you interested in displaying and tasting regional cuisines and beverages, exchanging cultural facts and recipes, presenting your region in a very special and original way? Then Regional-Village is the right place for you! As we usually say in EYP, one of the main aims of the evening events is to connect people. We are here to get to know each other, our customs, traditions and cultural backgrounds. Who can think of a better way to understand and appreciate different types of food and drinks than enjoying a delicious piece of deruny with a glass of kvas? Can you come up with a better to experience Ukraine than taking part in a traditional wedding game or watching an energetic Cossack’s dance? If one country can have such variety of different confectionery, folklore and sense of humor, then imagine how many remarkable customs will a Regional- Village allow you to see and experience! Can you picture tables full of Greek olives , German Haribo Gummy Bears and Polish bigos? Now add some Turkish belly dancers or Spanish flamenco performers with a French national flag in the background. However, despite the wide variety of products offered, the aim of the Regional-Village is always to bring different people together and provide them with an extraordinary opportunity to actively understand one another’s lifestyle. Even though this RegionalVillage was mainly focused on Ukraine, there was also a small hint of international accent. Song performed by the polish crew called ‘Duet of Two Hearts’ (Dumka na dwa serca) was not chosen by accident. It told the story of a Ukrainian Cossack and his lover polish noble woman. After all it’s all about food and fun, don’t you agree?
