Call for National Safe Person 2022

THE NATIONAL SAFE PERSON, as stipulated by the Policy for Safeguarding Safety and Dignity in EYP (SSDP) (art. 16) and the Welfare Policy of the EYP (art. 10), is a mandatory component of the structure of National Committees. This document outlines the tasks of the National Safe Person and contains the call for the National Safe Person of EYP Ukraine.
Selection criteria The National Safe Person (NSP), ● is a highly empathetic, sensitive person, with experience in dealing with intense, stressful, or challenging situations, a good track record of professionalism, and respect of policies/rules in place; ● does not hold an official role within the National Committee (NC) ○ Official roles are Board Members and Head Organisers of events; ● might be an older Alumnus of the EYP network who is not actively participating in events as a Delegate/Official; ● speaks English fluently; ● preferably resides in Ukraine.
Responsibilities The National Safe Person is the main resource point for matters related to the implementation of related EYP and national policies, supporting and advising the NC and Event Safe Persons. Their role entails the following: ● providing information on the policies and the complaint mechanism, as can be found in the Policy for Safeguarding Safety and Dignity in EYP and the Welfare Policy of the EYP; ● providing insight on applicable laws in Ukraine (e.g. the age of consent); ● supporting and preparing Event Safe Persons (ESP) in the NC; ● advise relevant actors within EYP Ukraine in terms of methods/approaches to ensuring respect of the policies in the NC’s activities; ● ensuring the link between the National Committee and the International Bodies of the EYP; ● during the events, being contacted by members of EYP Ukraine who might be experiencing harmful behavior, with a request to mediate/intervene on their behalf to have the respective behaviour stop (art.38 SSDP), to advise the NC if needed on preventing similar instances, as well as for complaints against the Event Safe Person. The mandate length will be one year.
