WOONBOOT VECHT The project consist of two family house boat located next to the small village called Nigtevecht. The surrounding is mainly composed by polder the road connecting the boats to the network is resting on a dike. Two design in one, this is how our team develop the idea of proportion. The sizes of the boats blend into the landscape in order to gives an homogenous feeling. Therefor the two boats work as a separated entities as well as an organic and homogenous shape translated into a pontoon connecting them.

SANTPOORT
Located in Santpoort in a very green neighborhood, the goal of this extension was to release the beauty of the nature and merge it into the building. With different elements such as a new glass facade outlined by a natural wood cladding. The value of this new space gives an over view to the garden (South-West) and therefor create an interactivity with the outside.

HENRIKKADE Due to the large amount of dwellings needs and the continuous rise of the price. Real estate agency are turning old canal house into new flats housing. For this reason, they call architects to help them to set up a good floor plan in relation with them expectation. The role of the architect is build all the necessary files for the building permit. It is quite complicate to take dimension in such kind of building, the time made the wall/roof/floor shifted, the dimension not straight and not standard.Therefor, in order to have as accurate as possible dimension we had the help of drone scanner that export directly the building into a BIM files.
Floor plans
The requirement for the canal house in Amsterdam is quite hight, it is not possible to change the all facade, the historical elements of it should remain the same after renovation such as the stairs, window frame, ornaments ‌ In order to meet the beauty requirement of the city of Amsterdam, we have to face a series of detail to replace the window frame, add new balcony on the backside, an elevator and a roof terrace.

Professional Experience
The passed year has been running very fast for me. Before my enrollment in the master of architecture, I started my practical placement at Marc Prosman architecten, one of my first experience in architects office. Once, I started to work there, the first feeling i had was that it seems that I know a lot less than i had hoped. After almost a year, i can tell that i feel a lot more solid in my work, although there are still a lot of knowledge i need to learn. The projects I have been working during my internship, were quite different from each other although some of them had similarities. I had the opportunity to work on a range of projects, such as new construction, renovation, extension and at different steps of the process. Most of the time I
was involved in the SO where i had to express the design of the project with a 3d model. This model, helped my colleagues to take further decisions on the design and therefor we could have discussion and argue about the direction to follow. Because, they let me draw the 3d model and the visuals, i had the chance to be in the heart of the design discussions. Although, i was more listening than speaking, i learn a lot from those discussion. But Marc wanted me to be more involve in my design choices. He therefor gives me a bit more freedom. When i needed his opinion he told me « make a proposal ». With this sentence, i was happy that he trust me and he would like to see what can come up from my point of view. On the project of the two boats in the Vecht, I had the opportunity to witness the meetings with the client. Even though most of the discussion happened in dutch, i could see the reaction of the last
changes we did on the plans and the impact of the data we could shown to them. For examples, after showing them some references pictures for the cladding (made of natural wood). One picture made the difference, everybody agree on this kind of facade, this picture had the power to convince them. It was really interesting to get the attention of the client with something found on internet, compare to the rest of the documents that takes a lot more time to produced. Often, i asked myself if designing boats is architecture. I have been involved in the Vecht project (2 house boat) from the draft till the detail, i also work on another house boat assignment in order to replace all the facades and on a real sealing boat (39 meter long). With a little bit of step back, i can tell that this tree projects were really about architecture although they are floating. The design step we have been through with the team were similar to a normal building. If i have to compare my work at the office and the one i did at the academy, they are quite different. The assignments we have at work are of course real
project, with client expectations and a definite budget. Therefor the space for creativity and innovation is more limited than the academy’s project. Those differences made me learning on both side, on one hand i could bring my « realistic vision » to the school project and on the other hand i have developed imagination at school to use it at work. When I look back, I feel that I have grown enormously in the past year at Marc’s office. Despite being a relatively small agency, the project are diverse in scale and in terms of design. I hope here to be able to grow, more stages and may be allowed to witness the realization of some projects. Obviously there is still a lot to learn and develop, but I believe it will come, with Marc as a mentor.
