Anew year brings new challenges! As the first month of 2025 has already passed, we wish you all the very best for the year ahead. We hope you enjoyed a safe and joyful festive season and feel well-rested and ready to take on 2025.

Congratulations to the matric class of 2024!

We are thrilled to celebrate your success, knowing you all passed

with flying colours. Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we wish you every success for the future. Embrace your bright futures and always stay true to yourselves.

December brought us significant rainfall, transforming our once-dry lawns into lush, green spaces almost overnight. However, the consistent rain throughout January made it a challenge to maintain the lawns. We kindly request that residents help by

maintaining their front gardens and lawns. Those living along the Estate boundaries are especially requested to ensure that plant growth on their premises does not interfere with the electrical fences.

Our Christmas with a Twist function was a great success and was held at the Clubhouse on Friday, 6 December 2024. You can read more about this wonderful event on page 10 .

We have listened to the requests of grandparents to provide benches at the playground, allowing them a comfortable spot to sit while watching their grandchildren play on the swings and in the play area. Unfortunately, we also experienced

some vandalism at the dam during the school holidays. Please note that we will not hesitate to act against those responsible. Heavy fines will be imposed on the parents of the offenders, as this behaviour is both unacceptable and criminal. Culprits will be treated accordingly. Lastly, we encourage residents to share their stories with us to ensure our newsletter remains community focussed and engaging, rather than just a source of factual updates. If you have a story to share, please get in touch with Elda Weideman at the office or email her at bluegillmgr@bluegillestate.co.za.

Refuse collection is every Monday, including public holidays, except for Christmas.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all on 14 February 2025. Enjoy the day with all your loved ones!

Kindly note that Elda Weideman will be on leave from Thursday, 6 March to Monday, 24 March. Christine Cooley will be available from Monday to Friday between 07:00 to 13:00 to address any administrative enquiries.

The guards can be contacted for security emergencies at the provided telephone numbers above. Josia Dimo can be contacted for any after hour emergencies at 079 889 7423.

Edman Siweya G uard of the Month

December 2024

Congratulations to Edman Siweya, who has been part of the Blue Gill team since October 2011, on being named our latest Guard of the Month. Edman serves as the Shift Supervisor for B-Shift. He is married with two children and enjoys playing soccer with them during his free time.

Edman, thank you for your dedicated and loyal service to the Blue Gill community!

Magical Moments at Christmas with a Twist

Residents had a fantastic time at the fun-filled event held on Friday night, 6 December 2024. The children were delighted by the tall clown, who entertained them with balloon figures that they could play with to their hearts’ content. Their little faces, some beautifully painted, lit up with joy when Father Christmas arrived in his modern sleigh, carrying a bag full of goodies just for them. Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the live music and festivities in the main Clubhouse garden areas.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the residents who participated and donated in the fundraising activities aimed at addressing the issues with the dam. We could not have done it without your generous support!

Security Report

Apart from the incidents of vandalism around the dam, we are pleased to report that no serious incidents occurred during the festive season. all the guards, along with Fidelity armed Services, Illumico, and Bear Security Services, were on duty throughout this period, ensuring the safety of your properties and the residents who remained at

home. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the residents who stayed at home for their vigilance and assistance in reporting potential security risks, mischievous behaviour by children, and other suspicious activities within the Estate.

Your co-operation played a vital role in maintaining a safe environment for everyone.

The house with the

“Scary” Dogs

We just want to introduce ourselves. We are american Bullies. We come in different shapes and sizes. We admittedly look scary, but we are utter goofballs! We will lick you and we love cuddles and snuggles.

Our breed is still relatively young. Our origin started with four breeds, american Bulldog, american Bull Terriers, american Pitbull Terriers, and amstafs.

as the years progressed, we were bred to eliminate typical aggression found in terriers. We are family pups and socialise well with humans.

We are registered with the International Bully Kennel Club and some of us partake in shows where we are judged according to breed standard. Our mommy often walks with us along the dam of the Estate and we love to meet new friends. Have a look at our Christmas photoshoot to see the beauty our mommy sees and loves.

We have noticed various dogs roaming the Estate and request residents to keep their animals secure in their premises. Please remember that your animal is your responsibility, dogs and cats alike! We thank you in advance for your co-operation in this matter.

• adhere to the speed limit, a maximum of 40 kilometres per hour.

• stop at stop streets! we are watching and taking random videos.

• secure your animals on your property.

• walk your dog on a leash. pick up excrement as per estate rules. use bags on lamp posts.

• please attend to your dog’s constant barking.

• the use of lawnmowers/machinery on a sunday must only be between 09:00 and 13:00 and between 16:00 and 18:00. no exceptions!

We have painted all the road sign poles and washed all the stop signs in the Estate. We hope that these efforts will make residents aware of observing the stop signs and obeying the rules of the road.
