Located in Berlin, a city with one of the highest percentage of smokers in the world. The amount of smokers seeking assistance is inversely proportional to the scale of the problem, hence the project will serve the needs of current patients ad contribute in the normalization of therapies, increasing current attendance rates. The project seeks to integrate patients, smokers and general public thus raising awareness and simultaneously breaking down the stigma that therapies carry.

The design approach responds to three objectives: maintain visual and physical connection between the square and park; react to adjacent and isolated neighbours and present a bold and attractive form
By recreating the pre-war building volume -adapted to the new block perimeter- the urban context is consolidated but breaks new relationships between future neighbours as well as green spaces
Lowering the south-east corner and creating a back garden creates a human-scale connection between square and park
The building’s footprint becomes public by creating an staircase doubling as a terrace, peaking with a smokers area, away from non-smokers at ground level but enjoying priviledged views.
