THE FAIRlY new stately five-star property is constructed in the shape of a crescent, evocative of seashells found on a beach. Offering its guests a pristine beach getaway away from the bustling city, hotel is the epitome of luxury with regards to accommodation. The 262 rooms are a blend of comfort and elegance, encompassing a variety of opulent options for the discerning traveller. Amenities include five restaurants and four bars, one grand ballroom, one dining room and five meeting rooms, a beach and kids club as well as a Thalassa Sea and Spa.

What we liked

The grand lobby with its high ceilings, ornately carved chandeliers, warm wooden furnishings and flood of sunlight is an impressive welcome. “Bonjour” is the greeting from the staff — one of many French flavours you’ll experience during the stay.

Out of the 262 rooms, there are various Prestige Suites and individually themed Opera Suites along with one Royal suite. Each 120sqm Opera Suite has diverse décor to match its theme, along with a private terrace overlooking panoramic scenery and an infinity pool.

I was awestruck as soon as I set foot into the Moroccan Suite. Done up in a chic Marrakech style, the kaleidoscope of colours identifies with the rich culture of Morocco. Every detail from the floor to the ceiling is truly stunning. Given the private element of the room, it is perfect for those wanting to unwind from the daily grind without a care in the world.

What we loved

Exclusive access to the Club Millésime Lounge for guests staying in one of the 32 Club Millésime rooms. Do not underestimate the productivity potential of sitting on a terrace facing the sea late in the afternoon with your laptop and Wi-Fi — not to mention the healing power of a fantastic French cheese buffet. We also loved the only Vietnamese signature restaurant on the island, WOK Restaurant, which boasts authentic cuisine with a kitchen that can be viewed from the dining room. On Thursday we enjoyed the stunning flavours of Vietnam brought to the island with a unique and refreshing buffet of healthy ingredients and delicacies themed to this wonderful time of the year
