It’s never easy being the new guy on the scene, but, it does help when you’ve got the acclaimed restaurateur Wolfgang Puck’s name above the door.
Set in the mesmerizing Mondrian Doha lies CUT by Wolfgang Puck offering an unparalleled culinary journey between California and the Mediterranean, and what a journey it is!
A beautiful backdrop awaits as you are shown to your table by the incredibly attentive waiting staff. We chose our drinks from the extensive menu, ably assisted by the very knowledgeable sommelier. We were then presented with a range of breads and hummus to graze on whilst we made our selections.
Wolfgang has a philosophy of using only the finest selection of beef, ranging from all over the world. Quality really is the key word at CUT which is evident as we were shown by Executive Chef ‘Ben Small’ who passionately gave an overview of the selection of meats explaining the intricacies and origins of each cut to help us make an educated decision. We opted for the Bone in New York Sirloin, topped with an organic fried egg, and a 100% Pure Wagyu Australian Black Platinum Rib Eye Steak. French Fries, Grilled Market Veg and Pureed Potato were the chosen sides to accompany the meats.
As we waited for our mains to arrive, we devoured some succulent Sliders and tantalising Tuna Tartare from the bar menu. These whetted our appetites perfectly for the mains that were due to follow.
Upon arrival to the table, we were both in awe at the beautiful presentation of the dishes. The steaks were accompanied by a selection of sauces, which allowed us the chance to treat our taste buds to a variety of flavours. The beef cut as wonderful as you would expect and it quite literally melted in the mouth. Despite being absolutely stuffed to the brim, we couldn’t resist a look at the dessert menu. In the end we plumped for the Dark Chocolate Soufflé to share and were greeted with what can only be described as pure chocolate indulgence. This was an outstanding climax to a truly encapsulating meal; a meal that was well and truly a CUT above the rest.
