FAITH CHURCH FAMILY & FRIENDS, Though Jesus walked the earth 2,000 years ago, He still knows about the problems you face today. Not only does Jesus know what plagues us as a culture, He gets us. I know that can be hard to grasp because we serve a perfect God, but Jesus lived on this earth as a man and in that time he experienced strong mankind emotions. Jesus was tempted, too. He was disrespected, too. He was doubted, too. He mourned, too. He suffered, too.
A LETTER FROM
At the February 2024 Super Bowl, the national ad campaign and website, “He Gets Us,” will air commercials for millions to see, reinforcing the idea that Jesus knows you and can relate. The following six weekends (February 17/18-March 23/24), churches from around the Chicagoland area, Faith Church included, will engage in teaching and discussion about some of those things we may not realize Jesus can relate to. We will explore how Jesus knows about our insecurity, exhaustion, anxiety, guilt, loneliness and grief. We’re not alone in this world. Our Savior gets us and wants to minister to us! Even with this coordinated church effort and multi-million dollar ad campaign, the best way to reach hurting people around you is through personal invitation. In my pastoral position, I’ve heard a number of reasons why people find it hard to walk through church doors: “I’m not good enough,” “I need to get my life together before I can come before God,” “There are things heavier than my drama that God should focus on,” and “The walls will fall down if I go to church.” How might things be different for someone close to you if they realized just how much Jesus relates. He Gets Us. Send a text, give a call - who can you invite to participate in this series with us? For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16 He Gets Us, Pastor Bob 4
