AUTOGRAPHS
FIRST AID
Volunteers, while working or in a restricted area, may not solicit autographs, gifts or any other favors from players or VIPs.
If immediate medical attention is required, contact the First Aid Trailer. It is located on the east side of the Stadium. This service is provided by MUSC.
COOLERS AND OUTSIDE FOOD & BEVERAGE Coolers, glass containers and outside food and beverages are prohibited on the tournament site. All concession areas will be able to accommodate you with any food and beverage needs you may have. The Volvo Car Open is not responsible for any lost items.
CREDENTIALS Your credential identifies you as a volunteer for the Volvo Car Open. This credential must be worn at all times that you are on shift. Please guard it carefully as you will be issued only one. Should you lose it or forget it, please go to the Volunteer Services Tent. Your credential should not be shared with anyone and it will lead to your dismissal and forfeiture of all credentials. Your credential will give you access to all DAY matches only. Seating is general admission in grandstand level.
FLUIDS It is important for you to drink plenty of fluids up to one hour before going on duty. Drinking fluids will prevent you from becoming dehydrated or suffering from heat exhaustion. Volvo Car Open has provided you with a water bottle; please carry it with you while on duty. Bottles may be refilled from the water fountains located at the stadium and the side of the club house.
FOOD Every volunteer working 10 shifts or more qualifies for lunch. You will be issued a card that will be accepted at concession stands and food trucks. The card will be pre-loaded with money. Please return the card after your volunteer shifts are completed or when the balance is zero (whichever comes first). This card will not work for alcohol beverages. You will only be issued one card. No replacement cards will be available.
EVALUATION Following the tournament, all volunteers will be evaluated on their performance. Six areas are looked at: punctuality, appearance, flexibility, attitude, people skills and work performance. In addition, all volunteers will be asked to complete a survey based on their experience as a volunteer.
GUEST SERVICES Please direct patrons with special needs or suggestions to the Guest Services Tent. The volunteers at Guest Services have many resources to assist patrons including phones, local information, maps and daily draw sheets. If no one is at guest services, please direct them to the Ticket Kiosk.

LOST CHILDREN
PROMOTIONS
Children who get separated from their parents during the tournament should be taken to Guest Services. Likewise, parents looking for lost children should also be directed to Guest Services.
Our on-site promotions are added value activities specifically intended for our spectators. The sponsors want a wide range of people to take advantage of these events. In an effort to comply with the sponsors’ request, we ask that all volunteers refrain from participating in these activities while in uniform.
LOST AND FOUND OR STOLEN ARTICLES Please report anything lost, found or stolen as soon as possible to Guest Services. If no one is there, please report it to the Ticket Kiosk. Please be especially careful about the storage and monitoring of all valuables on site. All areas are susceptible to theft!
NIGHT MATCHES Volunteers who wish to attend a night match must 1) buy a ticket, or 2) volunteer to work the night match, or 3) have earned a ticket through the tiered benefits package. Your department chair will distribute night match vouchers on Monday or Tuesday during the tournament. Night match vouchers must be redeemed at the Ticket Kiosk and exchanged for actual tickets. Please be respectful of long patron lines and exchange your vouchers during slow times at the Ticket Kiosk. Please do not put your fellow volunteers in the position of having to turn you or a guest away because you did not meet the requirements for entry.
RAIN POLICY If a session of the tournament is postponed due to weather or for reasons beyond our control, the tournament committee will make every effort to accommodate the ticket holder at a subsequent session. Information on scheduling changes can be obtained at the tournament hotline at 843849-5000.
RAIN DELAYS In the event of rain, all volunteers must report for work as scheduled unless your Department Chair has contacted you. We must be ready to resume play as soon as the weather conditions permit. An announcement will be made on local media outlets, on the PA in the stadium and the information hotline will be updated regularly. You can refer patrons who have inquiries about the weather to 843-849-5000.
REPORTING FOR DUTY PHOTOGRAPHS Working volunteers and in uniform, or in a restricted area, may not take pictures of the players.

SCHEDULE CHANGES
TIERED VOLUNTEER PACKAGE - $60
In the event you need to change your shift, you must find someone else in your department to replace you. Shifts not worked must be made up to fulfill your commitment. Your Department Chair must be advised of all changes.
Volunteers working more than 7 shifts qualify for additional benefits. Volunteers working 8 or 9 shifts receive one guest ticket per day session and two night match tickets. Volunteers working 10 shifts or more receive one guest ticket per day session, four night match tickets and lunch every day they are working.
SEATING/STADIUM COURT Your credential allows you general Stadium Court seating in the grandstand level. No volunteers will be allowed to sit in the lower section unless they have a ticket for that area.
SMOKING The Volvo Car Stadium is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the tournament grounds.
STAR VOLUNTEERS In order to recognize volunteers doing an outstanding job we have created a Star Volunteer program. If you receive a star, register in the Volunteer CafĂŠ for the daily drawing. Department Chairs and VCO Staff will give out stars. During the finals we will draw from all the stars collected throughout the week for a grand prize gift bag filled with VCO merchandise.
SUN PROTECTION Those volunteers working outside should make sure they are well protected with sunscreen and wear the hat provided.
SUGGESTIONS If you have suggestions or comments, please complete a Volunteer Review form available at the Volunteer CafĂŠ.
TENNIS ETIQUETTE Spectators should be quiet during play as a courtesy to the players and fellow patrons. Spectators can only enter and exit their seats during changeovers. Changeovers are made after every odd game beginning with the third game of the set.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION Volvo Car Open (formerly Family Circle Cup) began in 1973 and is sanctioned by the WTA. The Open is a premier WTA event. Eleanor Adams is the Tournament Manager. TV TIMES ON TENNIS CHANNEL This year, you will notice a large Tennis Channel presence, as they have become our new domestic broadcast partner. In conjunction with WTA Media, we have made a commitment to showcase the 2017 Volvo Car Open from the first ball struck to last ball played, throughout the U.S. and our 174 international partners. This means we will have more than 100 hours of tennis; live from Charleston, broadcast across the globe to millions of fans.
