All grown up t only feels like five minutes since they were giggling on their changing mat while you tried desperately to get to grips with the tape on their nappy. But now, in a few short weeks, they’ll be starting school and you’re simultaneously delighted and distraught. What if they’re not ready? What if you’re not ready?

I

Making new friends is all about the experience as well

Relax. Here’s a few ways you can get them (and you!) feeling confident about their first day.

UNIFORM PRACTICE

This might sound odd but let them practice putting on and taking off their uniform. This will not only get them used to wearing it but also prepare them for things like PE classes where they’ll have to get changed themselves. You can show them “tricks” like holding on to shirt cuffs as they put their jumper on, giving them confidence they can do it. It will also help you stop worrying that they’ll be running round the playground looking like Worzel Gummidge.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

OK, so your youngster won’t be expected to be able to write when they start school, but they’ll need to be able to recognize it on their clothes labels

familygolive.com

or on their coat peg. Lisa Aindow of St. John’s Preschool suggests that, “Parents can make a game of it by ‘hiding’ their name around the house and garden on fridge magnets, drawings and other things. This way you don’t need to worry about them accidentally bringing home their classmates’ PE kits and jumpers!”

IT’S EASY AS 1, 2, 3

Lisa Burgess of Little Miracles Preschool says, “Many parents worry that their child will be behind their classmates when they begin school but you can use the last six weeks or so before they join to give them a head start. Use songs and number rhymes to teach them the basics of counting. They’ll not only start school at the top of their class, but you’ll be able to look forward to six hours a day of not hearing There Were Ten in the Bed.

GET SOCIAL

Another big worry for parents is that their kids won’t make friends straight away. This is a tough one, but one way you can help is to make sure other children will want to be friends. Playing board games, for instance, will stand them in good stead on the playground by making sure they know how to follow rules, take turns, and be gracious when they lose. You could also invite other kids round on play dates where you can teach about interacting and sharing. Children react to their first day at school differently but you can make sure they have all the tools they need to get off to a great start. You, on the other hand, are a different story. We suggest lots of tissues and your best friend.

HOW YOUR CHILD CAN GET AHEAD OVER THE SUMMER

Now that exam season is over, your kids’ sights are firmly set on the summer holidays. For children, six weeks without school presents limitless opportunities for fun and games, but parents need be aware that this period can have consequences in the shape of the dreaded ‘summer slide’.

WHAT IS THE SUMMER SLIDE?

The summer slide is a well-documented phenomenon that sees kids regress

familygolive.com

This summer slide is a particular problem for kids who are entering their examination years. Those wishing to take senior school entrance exams will often take the test early in the academic year when they start Year 6, meaning the summer slide could cost them their chances of getting into your and their preferred high school. Also, in the case of older children heading into the final years of GCSEs and A-Levels, they have to retain knowledge from the previous year which the summer slide can make difficult.

Studies suggest that even small amounts of regular education across the summer can drastically reduce the effects of the summer slide so yearround tutoring can really benefit your youngsters.

HOW CAN GENIE TUTORS HELP?

Genie Tutors, Liverpool run tutoring sessions all year round. By helping children engage in interesting learning activities, we ease regression over the summer holidays. This makes returning to school in September much easier for your child and they’ll be ahead of the curve for the new school year. We also offer specialised 11+ tuition for Year 6 pupils wanting to take exams in late 2016.

ADVERTORIAL

How to beat the summer slide

educationally over the summer holidays and return to school in September behind where they were in July. Studies have tested school kids by getting them to take the same exam twice immediately before and immediately after the holidays - with pupils consistently scoring lower in the September test, even though they are older. Studies estimate that the average child loses about one month of grade level equivalency, but this can be much higher in generally tougher subjects like maths.

There are other advantages to summer tuition besides easing the summer slide though. The summer holidays sometimes leave children with very little to do, so having an organised, regular activity provides an opportunity to focus and enjoy a change of scenery, making for happier kids all round!

Uniformly crazy Make sure it’s your kids who are all prepared

he shop opens at 9.30am and the frenzied adults are already squeezing in before the doors have even fully parted. Like rampaging animals, they shove past the burly security guard, who’s been employed just for these few days to keep things under control, and race towards the shelves and rails. Some are pushing each other, some openly fighting over stock, desperate to get what they came for whatever it takes.

T

It sounds like scenes from Black Friday, doesn’t it? But these aren’t people fighting over £150 televisions in the aisles of a supermarket. These are parents towards the end of August, frantically trying to get their children’s school uniforms before term starts again in a short week or two.

familygolive.com

It’s such a busy time that shops have to tackle the school uniform rush in a variety of ways. Big department stores such as John Lewis prepare for this by taking on hoards of temporary summer staff to assist anxious parents. Smaller independent retailers, meanwhile, have to open longer hours than usual and, in some cases, even take on security to control the crowds.

SO WHY DOES IT GET SO CRAZY? The basic answer is that a lot of parents leave getting their kids’ uniform until the last minute. This can be for a number of reasons and sometimes it can’t be helped. But one of the most common reasons is that parents are worried their kids will grow out of the uniform before September and this is completely avoidable.

And, no, we don’t mean stunt your child’s growth! Seriously, you always have 28 days to return your child’s school uniform so the best way to avoid the madness of those last couple of weeks in August is to go out as soon as they’ve broken up from school and buy their uniform then. Obviously buy it a little bit big to compensate for them growing (a size up should usually do it) and keep your receipts. Then get them to try it on again three weeks later. If it’s looking like they’re already growing out of it, you’ll need to pop back to the shop and change it. But as long as they’re not going through a big growth spurt, it’ll probably be fine. Now when you see those late-August crowds, you can be that annoyingly smug organised person. Right up until the moment you realise you’ve forgotten where you stashed their new shirts back in July.

Amicable brexit? Considering the future like never before

t’s only been a short time since the EU Referendum, but it’s already clear that the 51.9% to 42.1% vote in favour of Britain leaving the European Union will mean a variety of changes to life in the UK. The exact extent of these is, at the time of writing, not quite as clear as we do not yet know when Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty will be triggered and what specific terms will be negotiated, but we can make some predictions as to the impact of Brexit for families living in Britain.

I

YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAY MAY WELL BE MORE EXPENSIVE

Sterling collapsed overnight as it became apparent Britain would vote Leave. Although it’s recovered somewhat, it’s still weaker against the Euro and US dollar than it has been

in recent months. This could very well make holidays abroad pricier, at least in the short term.

MORTGAGE RATES COULD CHANGE

Although the Governor of the Bank of England stopped short of raising interest rates in the immediate Brexit aftermath, this hasn’t been ruled out for the future. Every 0.5% change in rates can either add (or subtract) around £25 a month to the average mortgage repayment and this is higher for interest only mortgages. So if the Bank of England is forced to hike up interest rates, you could see your mortgage repayments — or even rental payments — go up.

THE COST OF PETROL MAY GO UP

Petrol prices have been a little confusing. We were bracing ourselves for them to go up as the pound fell against the dollar. However, the

Brexit decision also sent the price of crude oil tumbling and this offset the collapse of Sterling, ultimately meaning families saw no change at the pumps immediately after the Referendum, although this could change. Ultimately, no major EU contributor has ever left the EU and, at the time of writing, the UK government is still to outline its exit strategy. This means that no one can be sure exactly how UK families will be affected by Brexit beyond mere speculation and suppositions. With ministers currently saying that free movement of labour and free trade will be unaffected by Brexit negotiations, it may well be that there are few changes on their way that will materially affect UK family life. Either way, it’s advisable to stay on top of current news — particularly where family finances are concerned — to ensure you’re up to date on developments.

Parent Review

EyeLineArt’s Art Club Family Go Live asked two parents to review the services offered by EyeLineArt - here’s what they had to say!

SUE’S REVIEW EyeLineArt’s Art Club has been great for my children. Andy, the artist, is relaxed and friendly and really encourages the children to explore their own creativity. The children have enjoyed learning about mixing colour, as well as enjoying being able to choose what they did and develop their own creative ideas. As a parent an important thing for me is that my children enjoy what they do. If learning can be fun then they will get so much more from it. That’s been the great thing about EyeLineArt’s Art Club: it’s been so much fun to do. EyeLineArt ran a workshop as part of Liverpool College’s Environment Day where pupils where given the chance to learn about landscapes by painting outside among the trees. My children had a fantastic time and came home with some amazing paintings. We are looking forward to the new after school club that EyeLineArt will be running from September.

My children have already asked if they can take part in the summer art clubs. I know Andy is offering two weeks this summer with a morning or afternoon session. The club is happening for eight days and you can go as often as you like. This will be great for us as we can fit it around our holiday plans. Our family also tried their family art workshops which proved to be great fun and my partner has started drawing more since. I hadn’t done any drawing since my school days and really enjoyed trying again. I’d recommend EyeLineArt to anyone, even if you’ve not tried drawing or painting before.

WILL’S REVIEW My daughter really loved her Art Party at EyeLineArt’s home studio. The party was great and everyone created a cool picture to take away with them. We were able to use the kitchen to set out the party food which was fantastic as it meant no mess at home. One of the things that impressed me was we were able to discuss what my daughter wanted to do at the Art Party with Andy in advance which meant the whole thing was based on the theme she had chosen. I’d definitely recommend this to parents looking for something different for a birthday party — especially if your kids love to paint and draw!

Swimming has so many benefits for babies and their carers that there’s been a massive increase in baby swimming in Liverpool. But how do you know which baby swim school to choose? Water Babies has helped develop the first ever national guidelines for the safety of babies and toddlers during swimming lessons, alongside swimwear specialists Splash About and the national governing body for swimming, the ASA. Published by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and launched in Parliament in October, the Code of Practice aims to keep little swimmers safe by providing a standard for all British baby swim schools to adhere to.

Baby swimming? Check it’s safe!

“We’re really excited to have been involved in developing these standards,” says Alison Ogden, manager of Water Babies, Liverpool. “There’s been such an upsurge in baby swimming, which is wonderful because swimming has so many benefits as well as being a crucially important life skill. But it’s vital that baby swimming is taught properly. With these new standards, parents can be better informed when choosing the right swim school for their child.”

Back to school c r a f t s omework stations give kids a fun, personal space to get creative and after six weeks of holidays, getting ‘back to school’ ready is at the top of every parent’s to-do list. We have shortlisted three projects you can do in an hour that will keep kids organised throughout the year.

H

If like most, homework is done at the kitchen or dining table, create a homework kit that can be easily tidied away. Bright pen pots made from old tin cans, a stationery caddy from wicker baskets or even a homework trolley made from an old bar cart make for the perfect learning space additions.

GET PREPARED FOR THE YEAR AHEAD WITH AN EASY DESK TIDY IDEA AND CREATE A HOMEWORK CORNER KIDS WILL LOVE… Drawer dividers keep things simple and are great for separating out stationery. Use a block colour like Sunflower or mask off each section one-by-one for quirky colour combinations.

FORGET BEING PL AIN AND BORING Drawers and box files can be the focal point in office rooms. Use bold shades and dynamic lines to create a fun workspace that kids will love and you can even match colours to different lessons. We introduced edgy angles to our desk drawers by masking off a section and painting the exposed area with Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Teal. Make use of everyday items that might usually end up in the bin to transform a desktop space. Colour code individual jars and pots for craft supplies with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Craft Enamel – we’ve used Tranquil Blue,

familygolive.com

Buttercup Yellow and Blossom Pink. Why not try attaching hooks to the back and suspending them from the edge of the desk or onto a notice board. The night before a big test can be a stressful time for all but it has been known that if you place strategic top tips or facts around the home, memorising them can be a lot easier. Try sticky notes on the bathroom mirror, math sums made out of fridge magnets and helpful hints on the bedside table. Transform almost any surface into a creative wipe board with Doodle Wall Paint..

Joi n the club! t’s the summer holidays. That time of year where you have to compete daily with the Xbox for the kids’ attention and spend hours coming up with new and ingenious ways to get them out of the house so you can go shopping, get work done or, you know, have the TV to yourself and eat all their ice cream.

I

One of the best and easiest ways to do this is encourage them to join one of the dozens of summer holiday clubs happening across the area. Whatever they do, it will get them out from in front of the telly and you can use it as a taster to see if they’d like to enrol more permanently come September. Just think how many repeats of Keeping Up With The Kardashians you could watch then! There are so many different clubs out there, choosing might be the hardest part, but they can help you get the kids out of the house and they may just find something they love doing.

Your kids will discover things like never before

SO WHAT SORT OF CLUBS COULD THEY JOIN? WE’VE PICKED OUT SOME OF OUR FAVOURITES... FOOTBALL

There are loads of summer football schools around, giving them the chance to get some exercise, improve their skills and make new friends. They’ll be getting fitter without even knowing they’re doing it! Check out your local sports clubs and even local schools to see what they offer over the holidays.

MARTIAL ARTS

Whether it’s karate, jujutsu or taekwondo, there are lots of martial arts schools around. As well as helping your youngster stay healthy, martial arts also teach discipline and self-confidence as well as helping improve coordination. Kids of all ages can join in and, as they’ll be rewarded according to their achievement, it’ll teach valuable life-lessons.

TENNIS

Come summer, everyone gets Wimbledon-fever so it’s a great to get them down to their local tennis club to learn and play the game. They’ll again have a chance to learn new skills and, you never know, they could be the next Serena Williams or Andy Murray! Tennis is a great way to make new friends and, once they’ve learned the basics, it’s a fun way for you all to spend a few hours as a family.

DRAMA

If your little one is less sporty but something of a star on the rise, they’ll love the chance to go to drama club where they’ll learn stage skills, teamwork and often put on performances for parents. Taking part in a drama club will help them learn the value of working towards a common goal and will give them a real sense of achievement. Plus, for this one, it doesn’t matter if we get our usual British summertime weather…

Restaurant Review

Viva Brazil I went with my sisters and parents to Viva Brazil in Liverpool. Fearne is eight and Hallie is four. Oh, and I’m Faye I’m 14. From the moment we arrived we realised it was going to be a great meal, because of the quirky Brazilian décor, carnival music and friendly welcome, which made us feel like we were on holiday. For kids under 10, there’s a kids’ menu that lets them eat for free with each full priced Rodizio (all you can eat), and there’s also the Kids Extra menu for 10 to 16 year olds. I thought this was a great idea because I feel like I’m too old for the kids menu, but I don’t really want the stuff on the adults’ menu either. Mum and Dad both ordered the full Rodizio so Hallie and Fearne ordered off the kids’ menu. Hallie had Peito De Frango Empanado (coconut chicken tenders with French fries) It was gorgeous (I totally nicked a bit) and she had loads from the salad bar too, which isn’t just your average salad bar in Viva Brazil they have stews, cold meats, potatoes, vegetables, breads and fruit, even a delicious broccoli pie. I asked Hallie what her favourite thing was off the salad bar and she said it was the watermelon! Fearne, meanwhile is a vegetarian, so Mum was a bit worried she wouldn’t find stuff she liked. But she went up to the salad bar at least three times and had Salada Colorida (Rainbow salad made of cucumber, sweetcorn, cherry tomatoes, pomegranates, lemon juice & Potato Sticks). It looked fab and so colourful.

I ordered from the Kids Extra menu and had Peixe Frito Crocante (crusted fish sticks with French fries and dill mayonnaise dip) with lots from the salad bar. I loved the way Mum and Dad could turn their red and green cards over to show when they wanted a break when it was on green Passadors (meat carvers) would bring over the next meat and carve it at the table. They said the 15 meats, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, to name a few were amazing and Dad said the Contra (filet sirloin) was the most tender he’s ever had. It was great watching the waiters carve at the table too. Mum said her Classic Mojito was great too — but she wouldn’t let me try any! What made it even better was that there was a magician on! Every Saturday (1pm to 4pm) and Sunday (2pm to 5pm) they have entertainment for kids. The magician came over to our table after we’d finished eating and let us all join in with his card tricks. Hallie says she wants to be a magician when she’s a grown up now.

THE VERDICT Hallie: “Really pretty and yummy food.” Fearne: “Best. Food. Ever. I want my next birthday party here!” Me: “Everyone was really friendly. Felt like we were in Brazil”

QUEEN OF THE BAKE OFF NADIYA to headline new format food festival.

Families and friends gathered at last year’s Food and Drink Festival

38

They can’t wait for this year’s Food and Drink festival!

L

iverpool Food and Drink Festival is a large-scale event that champions the city region’s exceptional food and drink scene.

Held in the picturesque surroundings of Sefton Park, the festival attracted over 45,000 visitors in 2015, and this September, in its ninth year, includes an impressive mix of chef demonstrations, masterclasses, themed dining areas, live music and a chance to sample some of the region’s finest flavours. Great British Bake Off 2015 winner Nadiya Hussain will guest on festival Saturday, hosting baking demonstrations where she will share her cookery tips and give advice, as well as signing copies of her latest book. Mother of three, Nadiya, won the sixth series of GBBO, in an emotional final that was viewed by more than 15 million viewers, and also recently made the official cake which marked the Queen’s 90th birthday. She chose to bake an orange drizzle cake with a buttercream and marmalade filling for Her Majesty’s birthday, which was presented to her at Windsor in April.

Previous celebrity guests at the festival have included GBBO presenter Paul Hollywood as well as top chefs Tom Kitchin and Marco Pierre White who enjoyed taking part so much he came back two years on the run. This year’s event sees festival-goers enjoying a new event format, with the site divided into a series of clearly defined zones, grouping together producers, brands and food genres that complement each other such as seafood and fizz, and artisan pizzas paired with craft beers - as well as stand-alone festival favourites including street food, chocolate and spirits. New also for 2016, is the Good Life area, focuses on all things natural, as well as ‘free-from’ and health industry innovations. With more and more attention being paid on what we put on our plate these days, whether for special dietary needs or simply to cut down on sugars and fats, and The Healthy Living stage will include demos and Q&As hosted by chefs, focusing on the art of eating clean and give advice on ways to live a balanced lifestyle. With all these ‘grown-up’ additions to the event, you’d think that junior visitors may have been overlooked however festival organisers have been working hard on a bringing a brand

new ‘Kids Village’ to the park, which will have a range of activities to ensure even the youngest are entertained, from arts and crafts, music and dance; to food-based fun and learning. A new-comer to this year’s festival is the intriguingly named Walking Pet Balloons. Recently seen on BBC’s The Apprentice, these innovative products will keep little ones amused for hours, providing them with a helium-filled animal buddy to walk round and explore the festival site with for the day. The very popular Water Babies make a welcome return to the event with their foodie activities. The company, which holds classes across Liverpool and Merseyside teaches babies and toddlers to swim right from birth and they alway draw the crowds with their sweet and sticky workshops, especially biscuit and cake decorating - where else can budding Mary Berrys create a piece of original art, and then get to eat it! All in all this September’s festival is looking like it’ll be the biggest yet, with new exhibitors coming onboard daily. Tickets are now on sale and can be bought via the festival’s website www. liverpoolfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk. and it’s the perfect family day out even under 14s get in free!

From Woolton road

W

ith out-of-town supermarkets losing their appeal and people returning to their local high streets, many are prioritising local facilities when it comes to choosing a place to settle down.

While proximity to the nearest superstore used to be a consideration when it came to finding a forever home, today’s young families want authentic local shops and trendy cafés, restaurants and pubs, as well other local amenities such as gyms and beauty salons. Most importantly, they want them right on their doorstep.

Woolton Village and Childwall’s Woolton Road are fast becoming two of the up and coming areas for families in Liverpool thanks to the great range of amenities the leafy, green streets have to offer. Whether you’re looking for an area to call home, or simply a new place to get your morning Americano and manicure, we take a look at what these places have to offer.

RECOMMENDED The Scotch Beef Shop is a premium butchers in the heart of Woolton Village serving a range of prime cuts — some you’re unlikely to find in the supermarket! They offer free delivery on orders over £20 from a range of Scotch beef, free range pork, Highland lamb, Label Anglais free range chickens, and Creedy Carver free range ducks. They also stock locally sourced mutton, fresh Cumbria goat and Balmoral venison for anyone looking for something a bit different. Try the 20 varieties of homemade sausages, or get their homemade burgers for your next BBQ, or serve up some home-cured bacon with your breakfast! The shop even has a full range of cooked meats for salads and sandwiches.

With food to cater for everyone – go and visit Woolton road and Woolton village!

Artisane (awesome)

RECOMMENDED

Woolton Road is a thriving place for foodies. True Food Café offers healthy and delicious meals, soups and juices for those watching what they eat. While next door is Artisane, where you can get freshly baked bread and cakes for when you’re ditching the diet or just fancy a treat. Over in Woolton Village, meanwhile, you have Coast an independent bistro that’s perfect for a bite of brunch with the girls after you’ve dropped the kids off at school or perhaps a leisurely weekend lunch with the little ones.

BEAUTY

When you’re a working parent you need to find a bit of me-time here and there. One of the best escapes you can have is to get away and get your hair or nails done — and Woolton Road is particularly well served for this.

So, whether you just want to try somewhere new for a spot of lunch and some shopping, or are looking for your family’s forever home, Woolton Village and Woolton Road are really the places to watch as they continue to grow - perfect for today’s young families wanting it all a stone’s throw away.

In a relatively small space you have multiple hairdressers and beauty salons so whether it’s just a trim and getting your roots done or a full-on make over with nails to match, you can take some time out, chat with actual grown-ups and spend an hour or two being you rather than ‘Mum’.

SHOPPING

One of the best reasons to live around Woolton Village or Woolton Road is the great range of shops that mean you can pick up everything from the basics to gifts. There aren’t that many high streets in the UK now where you can find independent shops including butchers and authentic French bakers (OK, there is no candlestick maker!) but Woolton Village and Woolton Road have both between them. If you have a special occasion coming up and need a gift, there are florists such as Flowerbug, which sells some of the most beautiful flowers and plants in the area.

Don’t let the hols derail your health and fitness! It was all going so well. You had your routine mapped around school and work. You were taking that lunchtime yoga class and were sticking to your diet. Then it happened.

THE KIDS BROKE UP. (Cue dramatic, ominous music.)

N

ow you’ve spent the last week living off whatever snacks come to hand and you’re beginning to get used to the idea of Dairylea Slices as a primary food group. Sticking to your diet while the kids are off is difficult, but there are ways to make it work.

There are cafés and caterers springing up all over Liverpool, for instance, that make it incredibly simple to stick to a nutritious diet. You can order freshly made juices, soups and meals for your breakfast lunch and dinner and pick them up ready to go. That’s your entire day’s meals sorted and not a chicken nugget in sight! If you’re feeling like you’ve been particularly naughty, you can even go on a soup and juice cleanse with many of the businesses, which will rid your body of toxins and help you lose weight. If you go near any of the parks or gyms in the area, you will see fitness bootcamps all over the place. These kickstart your fitness to help you get into shape and on a nutritionally sound plan. So if, after the summer holidays are over you feel like your health and fitness have fallen by the wayside, you can register with a trainer to really give yourself a boost in the right direction. Let’s face it, the alternative is most likely six weeks of sitting down to the Ten O’Clock News with spaghetti shapes on toast for your dinner!

Party Testimonial

Underwater Street Ellie Williams, mum to Lily, 6, tells us all about her daughter’s birthday party at Underwater Street, Liverpool. As Lily’s at school now, she wants to invite a lot more people to her birthday parties. This means I don’t really want to host them in the house as it’s a lot to prepare for and a lot to clean up after! This year, we decided to book a birthday party at Underwater Street in Liverpool for Lily and 14 of her friends. We booked the weekend party package and, as the venue is in the city centre, it was really easy for parents to drop their kids off and pick them up later but most of the parents stayed and joined in the fun. Unfortunately, on the day, one of Lily’s friends was ill and couldn’t make it but as you only pay for the number of children who show up on the day (as long as it’s the minimum!) we didn’t have to pay for a child who wasn’t there. The staff at Underwater Street were amazing and made Lily feel really special. All parties come with a host who leads the party games and gives out the prizes (which Underwater Street included in the price). They also got to take part in some workshops of their choice. The group made bath bombs and princess magnets which they all got to take home as part of their supersized party bag at the end of the day. Underwater Street supplied this too and it even came with a load of games and activities. I was worried about the food and having to find out what kids wanted to eat in advance, but at the Underwater Street parties, the kids can pick their

food on the day. They could choose a pirate ship or princess carriage and it came loaded with all the kids’ favourites including a choice of hot dog, sandwich or wrap, crisps, ice cream, cupcake, fruit and salad and all finished off with some cookie decorating!! All in all the party was fantastic. Lily and her friends all had a great time. Even her cousins, Jenny and Sophie, who are both 10, had a brilliant time because the activities and workshops really do appeal to all ages. I felt like the kids got to have fun but they maybe learned a few things too.
