Hello and welcome to our Spring 20th Anniversary edition! I hope you’ve all had a good start to the new year and haven’t struggled too much with the cold, dark mornings. We’ve had a few warmer, spring-like days over the past week which has been lovely. Let’s hope the worst of winter is over now and that blue skies and sunshine are just around the corner. As you’ll see from the cover of this issue, 2015 is the twentieth anniversary of the Family Grapevine group. All of the editors in our Group, including myself are very proud of this achievement and we all feel passionate about providing you all with useful, quality information to make your busy lives a little bit easier. Settling your child into a new nursery can be an anxious experience for parents. We can offer some very helpful advice and re-assurance for parents about to go through the experience of leaving their child at nursery for the first time... Preparation It really can help your child if he has spent some time being around other children, which gets him used to sharing toys, taking turns and starting to form friendships. It can also help if he has spent some time away from you being looked after by a friend or relative, even if it is for short periods. It prepares you both for the first time that you leave him at nursery. If, however, he has not spent some time with other children or away from you, fear not as children often settle very quickly into their new experience… Fun, fun, fun It’s very important to remember that whilst your child is at nursery, she will be having lots of great fun. Whether it’s exploring wonderful ‘messy’ activities, playing outside in our fantastic all-weather play area, developing IT skills with touch screen-technology, joining in with our super-exciting range of education programmes or even having a cosy cuddle with a story in the soft area.
