North Judson-San Pierre Transportation Center
North Judson, IN
This Pole Barn building was designed for transportation storage and maintenance.
It features two bus bays with a convenient drive-thru option (doors on both sides), portable bus lifts, a maintenance bay dedicated to outdoor equipment storage, and a versatile Office/Storage/Work Bench area complete with a restroom and a mezzanine above. Potential uses for the space include bus maintenance and repairs. The maintenance bay can store outdoor equipment, ensuring everything is organized and easily accessible. The office area provides a space for administrative tasks, meetings, and planning. The workbench area can be used for hands-on training sessions or workshops. Additionally, the restroom and mezzanine offer a comfortable space for breaks and relaxation.

Carmel Facilities and Transportation staff are proud of their re-imagined building and excited to come to work.
Previously housed in undersized and outdated facilities, the staff benefited from Fanning Howey's collaboration with users to completely transform their work environment. The design team resized and rearranged offices to improve workflow and communication, added sliding glass doors to enhance collaboration and transparency, and upgraded finishes and the color scheme for a modern feel. They also increased daylighting with larger windows and solar tubing, and installed an all-new mechanical system to boost energy efficiency.

Center Grove Transportation Center

The Center Grove Community School Corporation
Transportation Center combines transportation and maintenance functions at the new Saddle Club Road site.
This site offers the opportunity to plan the adjacent 200+ acres for a future school facility while serving the present needs of a growing school corporation. At its current size, 85 bus parking spaces are provided, with an anticipated additional 40 spaces to be provided in the future.
The building is designed to share meeting and support spaces between the maintenance and transportation functions, while providing separate administrative and service areas. Special consideration is given to the zoning of employees and staff to serve the needs of bus drivers, bus mechanics, maintenance, and district personnel.

Pike Transportation and Facilities Center
Indianapolis, IN
The state-of-the-art facility houses the transportation and maintenance departments for one of the largest school districts in Indianapolis.
The 45,500-square-foot building includes eight bus maintenance bays, four hydraulic lifts, a washing system with radiant heat for drying, a 40' x 100' storage bay mezzanine, and a refueling system. Other areas include administration offices, training facilities, and individual shops for building and grounds, carpentry, mechanical, HVAC/plumbing, and electrical personnel.
The site features 125 bus parking spaces, as well as parking for 146 drivers and staff. Other highlights include a 160-person training center, a canopy refueling station, a card reading system for tracking and refueling, and facilities to host the energy management system for the entire district.
