The elderly people are encouraged to go outside. Based on the study about mortality among senior adults in the U.S, those who go outside on daily basis were at the lowest risk of death. Being outside in nature makes them feel more alive and provides a greater sense of energy and vitality, which can help make them more resilient to illness.

The elderly whose living in geriatric homes had higher levels of depression, anxiety and loneliness.

Built environment layout has never had the intent of creating social interaction with the surrounding greater community for the residents. programming component arrangement creating greater community connectivity is lacking currently as well.

Staying put is also usually what people want, older people need not only homes that meet their needs, but also outdoor environments that they can use and enjoy. They need to be able to get out and about; otherwise they will be effectively trapped inside

Warehousing older people into low density bungalow developments at the edge of towns is the worst thing. Inflexible and ill-considered communal spaces can become sterile, difficult to animate and manage, ultimately contributing to the loneliness of residents.

1 ISOLATION

Connecting with others may help in terms of overcoming the feeling of loneliness. Thus, creating a common space where the elderly could gather and interact with one another and engage in a face-to-face social interactions such as the living area and dining hall

Implementing activity spaces such as reading areas, game rooms, and even open garden areas can help the elderly interact with one another while also allowing them to make new friends.

2 ABUSE

Abuse can have several physical and emotional effects on an older adult. Encourage them to socialize with others and not being alone in closed place could make them more secured and alert if there's any abuse attempted. Hence, plan layout play important part in design.

Although the elders are going through a family problems, the elderly centre should become a place where they can be free and enjoy with their communities (a place can become 2nd home). A complete rent room/ facilities whenever they come to visit the centre.

The elders need to engage and involve with the community more often especially with the younger generation. Hence, providing outdoor or indoor space for them to spend time together is important.

Engaging in a mind-body healing modalities may increase the confidence of the elderly and regain their strength and increase the feeling of positivity in them. hence by applying meditation or light activities area can help boost their self esteem.

Social interaction can be increase if the spaces provided in building are the same common interest towards the users such as game rooms for the elderly. Implementing a gathering focus point in the building can attract the users hence the increase of social interactions.

By implementing sustainable materials, it can increase the lifespan of the building. Not only does it contribute to environmental protection, but building sustainably might eventually result in lower operating costs.

Small adaptations to be made inside and outside the home to suit the elderly occupants. such as:
