OFOKWHERE THE FUTURE BEGINS
OFOK SUSTAINABLE CITY
GRADUATION PROJECT
2
OFOK MASTER PLAN
2 OFOK Is an Arabic word which means Horizons,we chose it because we believe that the new Architectural horizons will be the Green and Sustainable sections.
3
OFOK will be acomodating nearly 10750 person (nearly 2150 family), and this city is meant to be an integrated by providing all important elements for life. OFOK city will include all of the following buildings: 1-2150 residential units. 2-OFOK Institute for Green and Sustainable studies and this building will do experiments on the following buildings: a- Tropical garden. b- Vertical farms (using Hydroponic farming and planting flowers to do both experiments and Hybridization on the fields. c- Solar farms on the Southern boundary of the city. d- Wind farms on the Western boundary of the city. e- Student dorms. f- Recycling center. g- Parking (which is divided into two sections which are Dirty section: includes a parking for 2800 fuel cars. Clean section: includes a parking for nearly 1500 electric cars. 3- Green hand craft center(since this city is located in an area full of villages which are suffering from unemployment we saw that it's better to do this center and also the vertical farming building). 4-Mall 5-Conferance and Exhibition center. 6-Hotel to accommodate the exhibitors and other strangers) 7-Covered and Naturally cooled PLAZA. 8-Bussiness center in the city Axe. 9-One big Masjid on the Axe and tow other smaller mosques. 10-Central park 11-Other things like Kindergartens, Elementary schools, one Secondary school, a hospital, one fire department, water tanks (up ground and under ground),Under ground rain water tanks, OFOK city management center, Clinics, Supermarkets and other important living elements. Urban Planing Idea: As we can see in the wind plan, we can notice that we tried to let the western wind flow easily and with nothing to block it, while we had blocked it from the northern area by the Solid facade. The Eastern side was the side that had the international highway connecting Syria from North to South so we couldn't do the same we did on the Northern side so we had to do a 170 M bushes or as we call it Green Belt.

The Sheikh Jawaan Street masterplan was conceived in response to the client brief to address the need for a new dynamic masterplan that interacts with the future mega park, and add to the street's existing significance. The project was studied and analyzed in terms of context & urban relationship, massing, zoning, and vehicular & pedestrian circulation. The plot location described in the brief text is 143,000m2, where as in the brief diagram it spans all the way from Al Sadd street up to Al Rayyan Street, with a width of around 190m. This amounts to around 239'000m2, and it was this latter size of the plot that was referred to for the development of the project, as in our view it reflected more closely the intent of the client.
My main mission in "AL WAAB STREET MASTERPLAN" was to creat an iconic massing for the temporary Mosque which is located on the eastern edge of the plot, Also i was handeled the business destrict to creat a formal yet a design that goes with the main language and the spirit of the complex itself.
BUSINESS DESTRICT
MOSQUE SQUARE
3 AL WAAB STREET MASTERPLAN DOHA - QATAR
While Designing the mosque i had several points to keep in mind in additionto the iconic design, these points were taking into consideration the easy flow of people in the different praying times during day and week days, plus making it reachable to all people as it was located on top of the plateform of the project. Designing the mosque went through different stages starting from a fluid shape ending into a more minimal and zen style shape. Adding a simple yet modern water feature into the design made it even more spiritual and gave it the touch of sacredness. Connecting this mosque to it's envronment and the country itself was done by applying the Oriental pattern on the main facade of the mass.
3
The Business destrict in "AL WAAB STREET" was meant to be one of the most important destricts in the city of Doha cause of it's important location in the city of Doha and in the designed master plan.
3
So massing design was made as five similar blocks shaped as grooves in a circle so it connects the different circulations that are happening in the complex and connect the upper and the lower plateforms of the complex for the diffrenet functions between the mall, the offices, and the vehicular access on the lower level. Similarity in the massing design didn'e mean that we give the facades the same treatment so we mixed both modern and formal design into one mass plus relating the whole design to the WAABE masterplan.

Najma Complex, named after the district;s name, is a mega mixed use project in Doha, with a Built Up Area exceeding 150.000m2. Revolving mainly around the development of a high end Cinema complex (the specialty of the developer) with 15 screens, the project also comprises a hotel with 200 keys, two serviced apartment buildings with also around 200 keys, and an office block with around 9000 m2 of leasable area. In addressing local regulations in terms of usage allocation and height restrictions as well as the design brief, the scheme projects the cinema complex as the main visual focal point of the project, and faces the main C-Ring road, and is complimented with an extensive plaza. This focal point is treated with a bold and ultra-modern language, and is comprised of a series of interlocking cantilevering masses. Their presence is animated by the introduction of sporadic legs that seem to not only carry the structure, but also imply an intention to be in motion. The U-shaped development of the complex around the cinema was designed in such a way to imply that the cinema complex structure has a direct visual impact on its design language, where the proximate masses begin to ‘agitate’ and shift slabs in different orientations as a conceptual reaction, where as the distant masses maintain a more serene design language.

My mission was to creat a contemporary landscape design for both the lower and the upper landscape level (firt floor). Again the landscape design went through many stages starting from the curved and fluid design and ending as more straight and minimal design.

AL MUSANDAM RESORT
The client design brief for the resort project was to create a balance in the design between Omani Arabesque style on one hand, and a fresh contemporary style on the other. The designer's approach was to achieve a balance between simple white rendered masses, ornamented and filtered by dark timber framework, intended to abstractly resemble mashrabiyyas. In this project my main aim was to design the private villas, which were seemingly randomly oriented, and envisaged as modules of the building terrain that broke off and nestled like pebbles on the beach.

In this project we were seperated as 2 teams to creat 2 different options each with diffrent aspect from the other taking into consideration the adjacent nature and the fabric of Mana city. We designed the second option and our aim was to design a resort that make you feel that you're sitting in an area that is open directly to the sea and yet feel the privacy. Also we tried to achieve the point that all the units be overlooking the sea view and the water front we are creating. In this project i was responsible of several points which were, Designing the Spa and the main presentation and illustrating the option. While desiging the Spa i had an issue which is trying to keep it simple and relaxing yet a modern building that goes with the theme of the resort. These points were achieved by the material treatments, orientation and the mass shape.

ALBATEEN BEACH RESTAURANT COMPETITION Working in this project was my first job as a freelance after i got assigned to design this restaurant & beach club with a contemporary and attractive appearance. The main concept i had for this competition was inspired by the wavy sea so nearly all the elemants had a wavey shape starting from the main facade and ending in the plan itself. The challanges in this competition were at the triangular plot that had nearly 550 SQ.M area with a G.F.A of 400 SQ.M. Before having the concept of waves my main concept was inspied by a sea shell. Materials used in this competition were picked to suit the area and the function of the place, plus to give the feeling of a warm atmosphere for the visitors and costumers. This design was one of the shortlisted designs among the big number of projects.
