As we welcome in the new year, the team at Farnham Maltings is beginning a new chapter without our former CEO Gavin Stride at the helm. Times of transition can sometimes be difficult and unsettling, as many of us have experienced over the last few years, but one thing that helps us to navigate these times are strong foundations. What’s become clear to me during my time here is that the work Gavin and the team have done over the past 20 years has given us a strong position from which to build.

One of these foundations is our craft work, and in February we’ll be celebrating 15 years of Unravel. This is an immense achievement and a shining example of what we have come to do so well; recognising a need and an opportunity and meeting it with passion and creativity.

I’ll be handing over the baton to Peter Glanville, our new CEO, in the middle of January. Peter will inherit not only a passionate, caring and creative team, but an equally, passionate, caring and supportive audience and community. That gives me huge confidence about the future of Farnham Maltings, and I eagerly await the next chapter in its story.

Recognised for its breadth of craft skills and community of makers of all ages and abilities, Farnham is the first and only town in England to be awarded World Craft Town status. Craft brings people together and provides everyone with the opportunity to develop and express their creativity through making. We exist today because of the support and ambition of those residents and have grown into an ambitious arts organisation with a strong local, regional and national reputation.

Riverside Café Bar

Monday – Saturday, 9am–4pm

Kitchen opens for lunches Tuesday – Saturday 11.30am–2.30pm

The Riverside Café is the perfect place to unwind during the day, with inside seating and tables on our patio outside. Choose from homemade soups served with artisan sourdough, open Danish sandwiches and freshly made main dishes. Kids can choose from the ‘little maltings’ options. All food is prepared on site by our own chef with local, seasonal produce.

Hot and cold drinks are available together with fresh pastries from our supplier, SØDT bakery. The Cupsmith Roastery based just outside Farnham has supplied us freshly roasted coffee beans and speciality organic teas for some time. Mouth–watering juices, mixers and presses are supplied by Folkingtons, a family–owned business with a commitment to sustainability. We welcome both children and well–behaved four–legged friends.

Please note that we are generally not open on Sunday unless there is a major event or festival taking place in the building. Book ahead and reserve a table for lunch by contacting the box office. We offer bar service before evening performances and will be open 45 minutes before the published start time. Pre–show dining is available for selected performances indicated on our website.

As the days grow longer and the spring flowers start to appear, we are delighted to welcome you back to the Museum of Farnham.

Located in a beautiful early Georgian town house with an equally stunning walled garden, the Museum of Farnham seeks to share Farnham’s history, from its prehistoric roots and Georgian grandeur to the rich craft heritage that still flows through the town today. This spring we have family activities covered with interactive storytelling, messy crafts and an ‘eggxtra’ special Easter event. Our popular ‘Secret Garden’ café will also be open, providing light refreshments on event days. No ticket is required, so everyone is welcome to join us for tea, coffee and cake in our idyllic walled garden.

The Secret Garden

A young, orphan girl is sent to England after living in India her whole life. Once there, she finds a door to a magical, hidden garden. Help Cat & Hutch bring this classic tale to life in this interactive adaptation. For ages 7+.

Easter at the Museum

Celebrate the arrival of spring with some ‘wooly’ themed activities with Mill Cottage Farm Experience, including the opportunity to meet and feed lambs! Our popular craft workshops and an ‘egg–cellent’ scavenger hunt will also be running on the day.
