MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2014

>> SIMONE MICHELI A company not to be missed at Salone del Mobile

I’ll name those for whom I have designed and who will be presenting my new pieces at this year’s Salone: Adrenalina and Dorelan, but then there are also those companies I have worked with for years, it’s so hard to choose!. An event or an area of the city you suggest to visit.

Lambrate! Without a doubt, they should go see my new studio, a branch of the historical main office in Florence that I opened on via Ventura 6 for the 2012 Salone di Milano. Via Ventura is a bustling area of recently renovated buildings and former industrial plants that have been turned into temporary and informal underground-type meeting places. The studio is not just a workplace, but a great venue for meetings and debates, a place where you can expand your knowledge. It’s a very functional, flexible, hybrid sort of space that came about as a place in which to elaborate, develop and exchange thoughts and ideas through real and virtual propositions.

I would love it if it were a young student who had been inspired by my words or lessons. One who I taught to “think outside the box.”. What are you going to present at the Design Week.

As always, it will be a very intense week of networking and public relations. I have several things at the Fuori Salone: 1 – Expolding ( Chairs. 2 – the exhibition/event for interiors at the Statale, where iron chairs will be presented. 4 – Viareggio Design Net. 5 - a show in my studio where I will present prototype opera chairs made by prestigious companies; the presentation of a collection of tables for Classica Design and new system of headboards for beds for Elite.

MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2014

>>PIETRO FERRUCCIO LAVIANI

furniture collection which, as always, features expertly crafted wood in an innovative way. A designer who has to be discovered

There are so many and I don’t want to name one so as not to undermine the other. Word of mouth during the fair is the best way to find the new and, why not, the old talent too. What are you going to present at the Design Week. An event or an area of the city you suggest to visit.

I personally think that some of the creative energy that was once the guiding force of the Fuori Salone has been lost along the way due to its massive commercial exploitation by elements that have nothing to do with the world of design. They have watered down, if you will, the original spirit of the event. Of course there are still plenty of very interesting events to be enjoyed and it’s certainly worth visiting, but there are now so many of those events taking place that it has become hard to distinguish those that offer real quality and those that don’t. The real synergy here is the fair itself, and the Fuori Salone exists because there is a worthwhile fair that backs it up. A company not to be missed at Salone del Mobile

Emmemobili. They have an all new

I will present three new lamp projects I did for Kartell, a bed – Orpheo – I did for Lema, Bak accessories that include clothes hangers, trunks, tables and other things in bronzed metal, leather and wood for Frag, a desk and arm chair for Veuve Cliquot, the new collection I mentioned earlier for Emmemobili, two new extendable awnings for UnoPiù and a brand new kitchen for the new Rastelli (Aran) brand. Aside from the Kartell, Emmemobili, Frag and Fuori Salone stands, we have C&C Milano (fabrics) with an installment at the courtyard of their headquarters on via Zenale and the Atellani garden, as well as two portals of the Onore alla Statale courtyard, the Foscarini showroom in Brera, UnoPiù on Piazza San Marco with the two awnings I mentioned earlier and, finally, the Kartell in Tavola at the store on via Turati.

“Milan is a city where I always go back to. Brera’s historical buildings and Fine Arts Academy are remarkable, and a perfect setting for Salone every year.
