LETTER FROM OUR ASSOCIATE PUBLISHER & MANAGER EDITOR

Did he inspire you, take you fishing, coach your team, set an example, melt your heart, build you things, make you safe, make you proud, make you laugh and love you unconditionally? My dad did. What is it to be a daddy’s girl? For me it was and is everything. I can only hope that I am a part of what my dad is. He is loyal, positive, silly, hard working, loving and a gentleman. The best dad anyone could hope for. With Father’s Day drawing near, it is time to recognize these irreplaceable men. In recognition, we dedicate this issue to all of the dads and to those that filled the role. We bring you a personal story about one dad who impacted the fashion industry, leaving his personal style forever on the industry. Our cover model, Viviano Soldano Fabrizio, shares about her father, renowned italian fashion designer, Sergio Soldano. When Mr. Soldano started his career, he created a technique of working with furs that made his work sought after industry wide. He applied his talent to film shoots and dressing the stars. His creative mind led to a signature design of perfumes, bags, luggage, and sunglasses. His goal for everything he did was to be stylish, creative and elegant. Mrs. Soldano Fabrizio shares how he inspired her growing up, as well as the drive she still embodies because of his influence. Feeling wonderment for your daddy is part of growing up. Make believe is another preoccupation of childhood. Of course make believe is nothing without the fun of dress up. You can imagine the precious child trying to stay atop a pair of oversized high heels with a perfect boa draped around and around. It is about dreaming of a life filled with elegant clothes and saying, “Darling”. Here at MOST Fashion Magazine we love to provide you the ideas for a life filled with elegant clothes and personal style. In this issue of MOST Fashion we have lots of glamorous images and ideas.

Our cover story captures the glamour of red, while featuring Mrs. Soldano Fabrizio. This dynamic entrepreneur is also a fitness and fashion m o d e l, shot elegantly through the lens of inter na tiona l l y published and a w ard wi n ning fashion photographer, Viktorija Pashuta. Ms. Pashuta also shares her dramatic Diamond Heart shoot that will have you dreaming in jewel tones. Celebrity Photographer Mario Barberio, shows off his internationally published sexy GUESS model, Heather DePreist, in I llu m i n a te d L u x ur y , creating elegance with the most basic of colors. Netherland’s William Setiawan ( Dry Gold ) and France’s Patrice Berchery (Urban Soldier) individually bring you some daring, bold, and colorful fashion. And if color is what you are about, Pakistani, Aleé Hassan, (Rumination) and Soviet-American, Tatiana Shabelnik, (Contrast on the Rocks) have proven equally successful desert shoots in their ranges of subdued to vibrant colors. Also bringing you the unique looks of designer, Sheri Autry; her Country Chic Creations and Couture business re-purposes vintage clothing into a couture look. Special shares presented by our well-dressed fashion bloggers, Italian actress, host and model, Eleonora Albrecht of The Fashion Screen; and Washington D.C.’s own, Darcy Tharp of VivaciousD, talk about their latest trends and travels. Included in this issue is a personal interview with TV host and Beauty Entrepreneur, Markette Sheppard, who is known for her tenacity and empowering voice in the Marketplace; as well as her cosmetic brand, Messenger Beauty. We hope you enjoy the beauty of this issue, and that you get some great inspiration. Then get dressed up and take your dad out for a special celebration. Happy Father’s Day to all!

HEATHER DE PRIEST aving a natural beauty and experienced top model like Heather DePriest on the other side of the camera is a photographer’s dream. Known as the GUESS Girl to the fashion world, and “Feather Heather” to her friends, Heather DePriest always knew she wanted to be a model and has managed to achieve international recognition. As an athlete growing up with long slender legs and a face able to convey that sexy, smokey look — required from all the best models — Heather clearly made the right career choice.

t was her charisma and energy combined with her looks that made Paul Marciano approach Heather initially, leading to a relationship that has seen the multi-talented model as the face of GUESS and Marciano campaigns. Portraying an innate sense of what it takes to get the signature shot, Heather approaches every shoot with the same panache. With her short hair and willingness to tackle any idea in the name of creativity and highfashion, she is never afraid to be an innovator, which is evidenced in these flowy, yet sexy and edgy looks by dress designer, Michelle Hebert.

autobiography

ALEÉ HASSAN Photography has been an important part of my life that has developed into a passion and aspiration since childhood. I realized this passion in the power of being able to connect people to my imagination. It gives me great pleasure to enable the audience to see through my eyes, while letting them interpret through their own minds. Additionally, I utilized this passion to create an individualistic style which is comprised of implementing conceptual, fashionable, and inspiring elements to my photography, and showcasing them to the audience just the same. Being part of a rich and vibrant culture of Pakistan, my photography is influenced by factors that are not only admired within the nation, but can also be identified in various parts of the world. These include different eras, tales, styles, history and traditions.

For her, it has always been about fashion, starting when she was young, sketching and creating fashion collages. At the age of sixteen, she took a summer course in fashion design at the well-known Saint Martin’s School in London. The very next year she moved to Paris to study fashion design at L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. It was there that Eleonora discovered the real Haute Couture and the basics of making clothes rather than just the design.

Like all artists, Eleonora is very passionate and has multiple interests, and for her that meant acting and movies which had her flying internationally to learn all about the industry. She enrolled in a drama school in Paris called Les Cours Florent, and later moved to Los Angeles to study acting at The Lee Strasburg Institute. After that, it was NYC and then back to Rome, Italy, where she started to work as an actress in movies and television and started modeling again. She also directed two short movies and other video art projects. Her love of video turned into her own YouTube channel, Eleonora Moda, where she helped young girls pursue their dreams in the fashion and show business. From there, she realized she loved having a place to put her ideas and desired to share with other readers her feelings about fashion and cinema, resulting in... The Fashion Screen.

Sharing one of the street style trends for this summer, Eleonora tells MOST Fashion that it is the Boho Chic look, inspired from the celebrities who attended the Coachella music festival.

“This summer, I will definitely wear a pair of short jeans, a crop top in crochet, fringed gilet in suede, a fringed bag, and gladiator sandals. The colors have to be as neutral as possible with a touch of color permitted, with accessories.”

repurposing things comes not only from a great find, but also from that moment when you figure out how to give new life to an old piece. Born a lefty (the only one in my family), I was blessed with being creative, using the “right” side of my brain, and having the ability to see the potential in things that most people wouldn’t be able to see.

This dress is made from an original, dusty rose colored, 1920s flapper dress that had some damage to it and had been poorly restored. I saw how beautiful that the dress could be if done right and decided to repurpose it into an alternative wedding/bridesmaid/prom dress! The base of the dress is an ivory colored 1940s/1950s dress slip. Various shades of tulle and organza (ivory, light pink, light peach) that I added are also mostly vintage that I have repurposed from other dresses. The sheer organza fabric has been cut into a bunch of handkerchief-size pieces with unfinished, slightly frayed edges to give it a more shabby chic look.

The dress closes in the back with a zipper, snaps and three hooks. The hooks are attached to the beaded trim that goes across the middleof the back. This beaded trim is from an original 1910s evening gown that was badly deteriorating, but luckily I was able to save most of the beaded tulle from it by applying a clear, flexible, washable fabric sealer on the back of the beaded design to reinforce it.

This dress is made up of a corset top and tulle skirt. The corset is made from an ivory colored lace and champagne colored satin, which is embellished with rhinestone trim and white feathers along the bottom and white lace along the top edge. The bottom of the dress consists of two tiers of multiple layers of ivory and white tulle, and the top tier of tulle has a vintage lace overlay.

S

o when I was old enough to start

drawing and painting things that actually looked like what it was supposed to be and not just a bunch of scribbles, my parents decided to turn one of the unfinished rooms in the basement into an "art room" for my sister and me to let our creative imaginations run wild. For me, going down in the art room to create something new was the highlightof my day! Because my parents gave us that art room as kids, I made sure that I had my very own art room when my husband and I bought our first house so I could continue creating things. Thus, my current “art room is where I design and sew all of my custom dresses.

W

ith my creative side in full force as a kid

with her own art room, I was always hungry to learn how to create new types of things. My grandma, who I called “Maw-maw”, ended up teaching me how to read patterns and sew with a sewing machine when I was about 10 years old. I remember her helping me create a kid's nightgown from a pattern we recently bought. From that day

forward, I absolutely LOVED to sew - both by using a pattern and by creating unique, one-of-a-kind things from my own ideas and visions. The dresses I have created are the result of a combination of using patterns and my own ideas to create a truly unique, chic, and elegant piece that you cannot buy in any ole store. The two things that I love using most in my creations are old antique and vintage findings that are in need of a new life (such as buttons, flowers, lace, tattered and torn clothing from decades past, etc.) and crystals (but only if they're Swarovski!). So, that's when I decided to incorporate those into my creations to make them modern, trendy, fashionable, and different from the competition. I have always loved being able to make and wear things that I knew no one else would have, because it sets you apart from the same boring things you see everyday. I like all of my pieces to be conversation starters, hence, the reason I use lots of antique and vintage findings and repurpose them to give them new life and a new purpose.

ergio’s dominance in the

fashion world throughout his entire life came from his originality and his devotion to consitently come up with something new and fresh. He had an unwavering commitment to quality, and his prestigious collections were featured in all of the top fashion magazines. Fashion was his passion from a young age, and he quickly established himself as the epitome of a fashion mastermind. Debuting his first collection in 1968, Sergio lit up the fashion world with his glamorous furs. From that point on, the spotlight shown on his imaginative clothing while celebrities vied for his precious suggestions and specially made garments. Soldano was also one of the first to participate in the Milano Collezioni, a team of creatives in the industry. Called the “Enfant Terrible,” in the fashion world — meaning genius — (and it’s easy to see why), he invented the technique for making furs lighter and more fabric-like. @ VIKTORIJA_PASHUTA

Exclusive Interview by DARCY THARP

Most Your father, Sergio Soldano, was known for his furs, initially. What made his fur coats so unique and loved by everyone?

Viviana “He had his own unique technique the he re-invented the for furs. He made the fur look like fabric, and it was super light. He treated it so well so that it wasn’t heavy at all, and they are doing them now that way. I have a friend who has a store here, and the furs there are exactly how my dad used to make them. However, that was back in the 70’s and 80’s without all of the technology we have today, so he really invented that technique. At that time there weren’t that many furriers, and he was definitely the most unique and the best at continually inventing things. In the 80’s he made mink look like jaguar, leopard, and tiger using very special techniques of inserts. It was NOT done with printing, as it can be done nowadays, so he had to be much more creative and inventive. The business was very competitive too because the other designers were always looking up to him.”

Most Sergio styled film stars and shoots, offering his fashion advice to many stars and celebrities. What was one of the most important film shoots that he styled?

Viviana “He worked on so many, but the one I want to mention is “Ash Wednesday” with Elizabeth Taylor. It was the one where she went skiing in Italy in Cortina and wears all the fur coats. Of course it was my dad there helping her. They actually show a shot of my dad doing something in the film. The other one was called “X, Y, & Zee” (Zee & Company), which both he and my mother worked on. One of the most memorable stories is when my parents traveled for Elizabeth Taylor’s 40th birthday. They stayed in a beautiful house during the time she was married to Richard Burton. There was another film being recorded there at the time.”

Most How did he create his perfumes for both men and women? What was his italian actress: MARILU TOLO

inspiration or process?

Viviana “He wanted to have an unforgettable scent, but at the same time not too strong and very elegant, like everything he created. He wanted the perfumes to be very feminine and something that would catch attention, so that people wouldn’t forget. There is one I use which really stands out so much. It just gives you a sense of elegance, powerful, glamour, and makes you feel luxurious and beautiful. I use it when I go out in the evenings sometimes. Smelling a good perfume is just like music; it makes you remember a specific moment. The one I wear is called Atelier (which means a big boutique in French). It’s strong and sweet, but not too overpowering; it is just right!”

Most What do you remember as the most important lesson you learned from him growing up about fashion or the fashion industry?

Viviana “To always be stylish, creative, and elegant. Just by growing up and watching everyone working in the fashion industry, it was a lesson in being creative and developing that creativity. It was all about expressing yourself somehow, and developing that.

jamaican supermodel: GRACE JONES

I wanted to expose my own creativity. I love modeling, and at a very young age, I wanted to be a top fashion model. I was walking his shows as a little girl, holding hands with tall women, so I wanted to develop that creativity. How did your father first catch the attention of celebrities and get noticed in the fashion industry?

Viviana “He had his technique, and then when you make something for someone, it just takes one and then everybody wants to do the same thing pretty much. So when he started doing things for big stars like Elizabeth Taylor, and Abrigi (Italian actress), they actually became really good friends and sometimes would travel together for work and also for fun and for marketing. He wasn’t just a designer; he became a really good friend, and everybody loved him. What he created was so beautiful. Women were drawn to him and his work. He was very enigmatic and big actresses couldn’t wait to meet him and wear something of his or his newest creation. Ultimately, he just loved to create!”

It’s understandable, and we were young, and when you grow up, you don’t want to do it, but it was really great actually. He also designed everything for my mother. Whether she felt like wearing it or not. I remember seeing my mom looking sexy, but again elegant, and my mom is more of a shy, private person, but she would still wear it. She always looked like a movie star.”

Most Described as being “the pure spirit of Italian fashion,” how did Sergio’s designs embody Italian fashion? Also how did he initially get into fashion and learn how to design?

Viviana “It was the 70’s, the rebel and free age, and his inventive talent made him loved and famous. Hence, “The Enfant Terrible!!” Sergio was inventive; he was constantly inventing new items, a new style, a new something. Everybody came out and tried to copy him. He was Italian first of all, and his goal was creating beautiful and feminine pieces. Whoever it was that came through, whether it was a regular client or a celebrity, he wanted to make sure that they felt the most beautiful, elegant, and feminine with just the right amount of sexiness.”

“I work for my foundation all of the time, and I just created postcards with the animals I sponsored. I help a lot of families that are in trouble with their pets, find out who they are and what I can do to help. If someone can’t afford to pay for surgery and are going to lose their dog, the whole family is going to suffer! This year with the postcards, I’m going to invite other people to join if they want to be part of the collection with their pet. They will donate to Amore

For Dogs, and they will be featured on a postcard with a certain theme with their dogs. It definitely always has to be a theme, and that’s fun for me to create and keeps me busy. That is the glamour part of the foundation. Then you have the not-so-glamorous part like when you go to the shelter and take the dogs to the vet. I have two rescues that I particularly work with that do more the vetting, while I do more of the glamour. I love to do modeling and love even more that I have found a way to do more than fitness. 2013 was my last fitness show. I went all the way to the Nationals. I felt like, “this is great but,” it took all of my time, and I realized that I wanted to do something to give back to the world and to help people. I love dogs, so I started the foundation.”

Viviana “Unique, elegant, and avant-garde! He always wanted women to be feminine, not vulgar, but sexy and elegant with a bit of mystery! He always had to come up with new ideas and new creativity, and he never gave up. He dedicated his whole life to his work. When you are on the top, everybody wants to bring you down so you can’t stop.”

How did you follow in your creative family’s footsteps; and how is fashion a part of your life because of your father?

“When you are born into fashion, it comes natural to be in it. I’m also very creative in many ways, especially with photos, wardrobe, and directing a lot of my photo shoots; that’s how I express myself. Fitness and exercise is part of it all, and I developed my own style bringing my own hints of creativity to each shoot regardless of what type.”

You also were awarded The Los Angeles Times Scholarship for Excellence in Student Journalism. What was the best story you produced during that time?

“Yes, that was another moment where I was just so happy, surprised, and delighted. I cried during the scholarship dinner because it was another one of those moments of validation for me. I think one of my most memorable experiences was reporting live from Arianna

Huffington’s Shadow Convention at Patriotic Hall in Downtown Los Angeles for my campus TV station. I was down there, interviewing people, and then calling in reports from my cell phone. The campus news station didn’t have the capability to do live shots, so they would just put up a graphic with my photo and my beat. I just thought the whole thing was amazing.”

“My typical workday starts with rising in the 5 o’clock hour. It’s very fast-paced and I love every minute of it.

Describe your typical day for a show.

“My typical workday starts with rising in the 5 o’clock hour. I wake up, check e-mail, take a shower, apply sunscreen from my shop, eat breakfast, and go.

Once

I get to work, I read my script, attend a pre-show production meeting, and then I get dressed, do my hair, and finish applying my makeup. Everything that I do before 9:00am is focused on the day’s show. I try not to answer any e-mails, calls, or texts that do not have to do with it. Then after the show, I focus on writing my scripts and doing background research for the next day’s show. I also work on booking interesting segments for the future. It’s very fast-paced and I love every minute of it.”

“Ha! I would say that I am still learning and growing and developing my talent, and I hope to achieve so much more. But given where I am on this journey, which is hosting a new morning show in our nation’s capital with a very educated and knowledgeable viewership, I would say the best advice I could give is to over prepare. You should really know your subject matter, know your role, and know your audience. It’s all about trying to nail it every single day.” www. M O S T mag.com //

What is an on-camera skill that you are still working on to improve?

You made a huge career shift in your life-what is your advice for someone contemplating a career move who is scared to “start-over” or experience a drop in pay?

But this summer why not elevate your style, infusing chic, sexy, and relaxed into your wardrobe by adding some of the hot styles and moods that Summer 2016 is all about. Tap into the emotion and drama that are behind every elegant style this season with romantic lady like pieces, modern fairytale dresses, and luscious bedroom looks. Not one to follow trends because real style is about wearing what looks good on you and finding pieces that work for you and your body, I am, however, all for garnering inspiration

For your outdoor don’t-care look, how about a drop waist floral dress topped with some modern accessories to make it a little less like Little House on the Prairie and more like a sweet reminder of your youth. Throw on a rucksack over your dress (who doesn’t like hands-free) and add your initials to it for signature style.

...Forget cleavage and belly baring. Instead wear tops that nonchalantly slip off the shoulder, showing a much forgotten if not sexier body part that leaves more to the imagination while adding that bit of necessary mystery that modern women oft forget.

And don’t forget that sparkles in motion and stand out sequins along with metallic and silver are everywhere this summer, so have some fun with those party outfits! Voluminous sleeves, tie-dye, big stripes and fine lines, utilitarian bombers, and the bombardment of logos that are back in a big way (French Connection re-launches the FCUK t-shirts) are more of the eclectic, yet familiar trends of this season.
