Joao Vaz invites you to discover his new jewellery collection: Clarice.
Born from hand-dyed acrylic and cubic zirconias, this collection makes use of a new way of tension setting stones, first developed by Joao Vaz for his 2014 collection Dark-Matter. This new development in the ancient tradition of stone setting, where the stones are held in place exclusively by the pressure of the acrylic, allowed the creation of jewellery pieces, which are simultaneously rich in detail and simplicity. The infinite colour variations derived from each material is a quality explored to its full strength both through tonal contrast and symmetricity. Secular and traditional, Clarice is a collection where exhibitionism and sensibility merge symbiotically.

o you wish you could own that ridiculously expensive but equally amazing Louis Vuitton bag you've been lusting over for months? Or that gorgeous Chanel bag you've seen all over the red carpets and in fashion magazines, but just cannot bring yourself to part with that sort of cash from your savings fund? WORDS B R O O K E PA G O T T O
Top: Chanel Black Caviar East West Flap Bag, $2,800 Middle: Hermes Toile Kelly Herbag Zip 31, $3,650 Bottom: Louis Vuitton Monogram Papillon 26 NM, $650

Much like buying anything that depreciates in value, as soon as you cut the price tag off, is there any value in buying a brand new designer piece anymore? Or does the exclusivity of owning that unique, original designer piece still reverberate across generations in the 21st century? Without sacrificing quality or pride, it is now possible to buy second hand authentic, luxury pieces at up to 60% off RRP from the comfort of your own couch! With the freedom to verify quality assured online boutiques, some of the authentic and easily accessible sites that deliver to your door here in Australia include; LUXE.IT.FWD, The Editor's Closet, Vestiaire Collective, Blue Spinach, Bags of Charm and Potero.
PRICE Comparing apples to apples, a pre-loved option is obviously going to be less expensive, however the relative price of the products within the market can also mean you can purchase a piece that is also functional.
CHOICE We are spoiled for choice in the pre-loved market with the large selection allowing you to find that design that is a recurring seasonal trend. This can add to the length and depth of your search, allowing you to find the perfect piece.
FINANCE With the pre-loved market providing reduced prices at up to 60% off RRP, you will be able to purchase your luxury item outright, or with less financial stress as placing a new season collection piece on credit.

2 POINT CHECK There are two things that can leave an unforgettable impact. It's your scent and your crown. Both of these have the ability to make the onlookers’ jaws drop.
Marc Jacobs Mod Noir, Eau De Parfum 50ml, $130 Finding your signature perfume is key but a popular favourite is the Sephora Exclusive, Marc Jacobs Mod Noir. It's the modern interpretation of a classic gardenia fragrance, with an upscale, sophisticated feel. Available exclusively at Sephora 14
Luxcurly is available in two styles at $119; the Lux Natural 28mm barrel is perfect for creating a relaxed wave, while the Lux Classic is best for a more defined curl. A wise woman once said, "The beauty is in the hair." And she couldn't have been more correct. There is something about having voluminous, effortless waves that will have everyone turning their heads to take a double look. We have found the ultimate time-saver that will make your luscious locks achievable. At first glance it looks like any other curling tong available, but it has an auto-rotating function and the ability for you to choose your curl direction. It's sheer brilliance! Available to purchase from luxcurly.com.au

THERE’S A NEW WORDS B R O O K E PA G O T T O
Bulimba to get a new 'local' with the opening of Barcadia Kitchen + Bar on Oxford Street Locals Ben Pullen and Ben Moore have answered neighbourhood requests for a local rendezvous, and are set to open Barcadia Kitchen + Bar, on Oxford Street Bulimba, mid July. The venue will feature local brews as well as some familiar names across the 10 beer taps. Advocating 'Think Local, Drink Local', the kitchen and bar won't just be catering for beer fans, with the bar heavily geared towards quality whiskies, wines and champagnes from around the world. The Bens wanted to create a bar where friends can gather, relax and enjoy watching the world go by. “We really want to create a quality 'local' in Bulimba,” Pullen said. “People from the Bulimba district, from Morningside through to East Brisbane, have been chasing a venue that gives them a reason to eat and drink locally, without having to go back across the river.” Barcadia will be big on quality food and drink, offering new tastes and twists on some old favourites. Leading the kitchen is Head Chef Daniel Jones, who has been at the helm of popular eateries including Buffalo Bar and Cha Cha Char. He has crafted a menu that showcases modern bar eats as well as a considerable selection of larger plates, made for sharing.
28
On the bar menu find great bar bites like crispy cured pork skins with habanero rub, house sweet and spicy pickles, wagyu beef spring rolls, and gnocco fritto parcels with pancetta affumicata and mozzarella. More substantial eats can be found in the restaurant menu, including spiced coffee and gin cured hiramasa kingfish, shaved winter roots salad with tea raisins and Manuka honey and braised short ribs with satin mash. “Barcadia is going to be a venue, which like its derivative 'Arcadia', a place where people can eat, drink and relax, overlooking Oxford Street and Bulimba Memorial Park.
THE DETAILS: Barcadia is located at 136 Oxford Street, Bulimba and will open 7 days a week, from 11am till late for lunch, dinner and drinks. www.barcadia.com.au
