Who is Bg183? Where is he from?

BG183 is a writer who grew up in the South Bronx that started to paint in the early 80’s and is still going strong painting walls and exhibits his art in galleries around the world.

Writing for me is part of my life. It took me from hanging in the corner store to painting in the tunnels and lay-ups.

When and why did you start in this culture? I was born and raised in the South Bronx. I started drawing at a young age. In 5th Grade I won an award for Fine Art. The culture of Writing, B-Boy, Rhyming, and DJ was all part of my community. My boys

What is graffiti to you?

BG183, who is your Master or your maximum concerning? I didn’t have any master. I just saw other writing styles of paintings like Phase2, Kase2, Seen UA, Lee, Daze and Crash. With that I created my style of piecing letters. It was an honor to see their work on the trains and walls.

Any tip to do a masterpiece? -Tip 1: If you are doing simple style letters get wicked with the colors. -Tip 2: If you are doing wild style letters don’t get to crazy with the colors keep it simple.

Bg183, you use explosives colors. What are the colors you use most? The colors I use depend on the background color of the wall. Then I can use colors that will blend with the background.


Something you love to see in pieces and other things you hate: What I like to see is cleanses of a piece and its style.

What is your crew? How long have you been with the crew? Who are the other members of the crew? My crew from the beginning always has been TATS CRU for 37 years. The members of TATS CRU are Brim, Bio, Nicer, Kenn, Cem2, Mack, Totem2, How, Nosm, Fat Joe and KRS one.

In these days, do you see teamwork in graffiti? These days I see teamwork in graffiti as the only way to start getting busy in the graffiti world.



What is the perfect paint for you? Any paint that I touch is the best paint it doesn’t matter to me what I use. I can bust with any paint.

What do you think about the move of graffiti on the trains to the art gallery? As a writer who started painting trains

and then showing in art galleries that is the best thing because you can continue to show your artworks to a new audience that can buy your work.

C’mon brother! Tell me about about your actual and future projects? I have a solo art show coming up at WallWorks NY Gallery in the Bronx. The show runs from February 25 to March 29, 2017. Opening Reception is on February 25 at 5 - 8pm.

What kind of music do you usually listen? Who is the best band of all times for you?

Brother, can named one of the most original writers of the moment? In the beginning the most original writer of the great moment to me was Seen UA because he started doing continuous pie-

I listen to Hip Hop music and the best group of all time was Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five.
