Koenigskind (Royal Child) By Ulrike Kittel http://www.lieblingsdecke.de

Finished Size: 43“x 55“ What you will need Of the Lizzy House Castle Peeps fabric collection: ½ yard Castle Flags Royal Blue ½ yard Castle Fortress Royal Blue ½ yard Castle Town Royal Blue ½ yard Castle Flourishes Royal Blue ½ yard Castle Flourishes Cardinal Red ½ yard Castle Peeps (Villagers) Royal Blue 1 Fat Quarter Castle Heraldry Cardinal Red 1 Fat Quarter Castle Heraldry Royal Blue

Solids: 1 ½ yards dark blue fabric ½ yard light grey (I used Kona Ash) ¼ yard medium grey (I used Robert Kaufman Pure Organic Steel) ¼ yard light yellow (I used Kona Banana) ¼ Yard light blue (I used Kona Blueberry) 2 ½ yards background fabric

I just love Lizzy House fabric and when I saw the Castle Peeps fabric line, I had to turn it into a quilt. I thought of what it must be like to live in a castle and the different perspectives are shown in the quilt: From faraway, you can see the castle landscape. When you are inside the castle, you can have a look outside the windows and see the hustle and bustle of castle life. And the diamond pattern is what I imagine a cloak of the king’s jester to look like.

“This quilt can easily be made larger or smaller by adding or subtracting blocks. We think the blocks look like library cards, so we named the quilt, Bookworm.“

I am so excited to bring you a quilt pattern in Fat Quarterly. I designed this quilt based on the suggestion of only using pre-cuts (and some yardage for sashing of course). I don't know about you but I adore pre-cuts! They are so versatile and easy! We all like easy, right? :) Well good thing because this quilt is very easy and adorable, too! I hope you enjoy the pattern and if you make this quilt, please share it in the Fat Quarterly Flickr group so everyone can see!! Much love!!!

Calypso Web Quilt By Cara Cesarik http://markcesarik.blogspot.com/

What you will need 144 strips, 2 1/2” by 42-44” for quilt top 4 1/2 yards for back of quilt 1 yard for binding Rotary mat Rotary cutter

Things to Remember Read the pattern in full before starting Seam allowances are 1/4” unless stated otherwise Always press your fabrics before starting Press all seams open as you go along

Finished Size: 76” x 76”

I designed the Calypso Web Quilt as an alternative to achieve the scrappy look of a traditional Spider Web quilt, without all of the difficult piecing. I love the way the pattern shows off the coordinating design elements of Calypso Swing, which is my husband’s first collection for Free Spirit. This pattern could easily be adjusted to make a pair of coordinating pillows, which would require just 8 strips of fabric. To make a smaller or larger quilt just subtract or add more squares. Note that each block is made from 2 sets of contrasting stripes. To learn more about Calypso Swing, visit Mark’s website http://markces.com/ and my blog http://markcesarik.blogspot.com/ .

The 3 Fat Quarter Scrap Bucket By Nova Flitter http://acuppaandacatchup.com/

Circa 50 Quilt By Kelly Speakman http://threadlevelorange.wordpress.com/

Finished Size: 53” x 72” What you will need

Things to Remember

6+ coordinating fat quarters 3 yards of solid quilting cotton 4 yards of backing fabric 61“ x 80“ of batting 1/2 yard coordinating fabric for binding

Read the pattern in full before starting Seam allowances are 1/4” unless stated otherwise Always press your fabrics before starting Press all seams as you go along

After stashing a beautiful bundle of Circa 50 Fat Quarters, I wanted to find a way to incorporate all the fabrics into 1 project without leaving too much material on the cutting room floor. The quilt dimensions are dictated by an economical use of the fabric, with the least amount of waste possible . It is easily made wider by mixing in extra fat quarters and adding additional strips along the width. This quilt is large without being fussy and is a good way to learn strip piecing techniques. It’s an excellent project for a beginner or a seasoned quilter looking for quick results.
