It is the message that changed everything. It is the message that continues to transform lives. It is also the message that separates the church of the Lord Jesus Christ from all other religions. Jesus is alive to grant salvation and deliverance, to transform lives, to bring hope, and to walk with us through all of life guaranteeing that we never walk alone. It is a message worth hearing, receiving, believing and sharing. This Easter, seize the opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family to the Easter services at First Baptist. Studies have shown that people are very prone to accept such an invitation and to be in church on Easter Sunday Morning. Invite cards are available for you to use. We look forward to a great day of worship this Easter as we remember that every Sunday is Resurrection Day and every day is a day in which our Jesus lives. CHURCH PICTORIAL DIRECTORY: Thank you for your excellent response to our new church directory. Family photography sessions for the directory will be scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th through Sunday, April 22nd. If you have not signed up, please do so in your Sunday School class, in the church foyer following worship, or by calling the church office. A photography representative from Color Craft, our Lifeway associated company, will then call you to schedule your photo session. We have had a good response so far but hope to get 100% participation. The directory will be a blessing to our fellowship by allowing us to get to know one another better and to minister to one another more efficiently.
ADULT 55+ LUNCHEON: Our next luncheon will be Friday, April 6th at 10:30 a.m. Our guest speaker will be Brooke Moody who is director of the Wellness Center at Riverside Medical Center. The menu will include Hamburger steak, potatoes, English peas, and so forth. Please sign up in your Sunday School class or call the church office. As always, invite a friend to join you for the luncheon. SENIOR ADULT SUNDAY May 6th : Dr. Bob Adams will be our guest preacher in the first two worship services. Our deacons and wives will serve lunch at 10:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center. WBA SENIOR ADULT REVIVAL: Our annual Senior Adult Revival is coming the week of May 7th. See the poster on the SAM Bulletin Board or check the calendar in the May Bridge for times and locations. We will host the revival on Friday, May 11th. FALL TRIP TO PIGEON FORGE: We have growing interest in our Pigeon Forge trip next Fall. We will solidify plans this month as well as nail down the cost of the trip which is estimated to be around $650. Our tentative plan is to attend the Dollywood Gospel Music Festival and other gospel music shows as well as tour the mountain area for the fall color change of the leaves in the Smokies. Sign up for the trip will take place at the April luncheon or you may call the church office.

Last month Anita and I took a weekend, including Sunday, to visit family in Lafayette, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Stuart Varnado and Ralph Parks for their leadership in my absence. It is a unique blessing to have such able servants to “step up to the plate” when the need arises, a service they and others have rendered many times in the past. And while I am at it, a huge “thank you” to all of the participants in our worship ministry…singers, musicians, and tech support. I really don’t need to list their names because you see them every week, faithfully using their talents in the service of our Lord. The great blessing is mine to have served with all of you for these five years. You see on this page a poster (and a couple of pictures from last year), reminding all of us that Alive 2018 is just around the corner. This vision was birthed by our Lord in the hearts of Stuart Varnado and Mike Daniel; and there have been many from our community who have stepped up to
make this a wonderful opportunity for Christians from all over our region to gather for fellowship and worship in an environment that gives visibility to the Body of Christ giving honor and glory to the One who gave His life for all of us. Begin now to pray for the leadership, the singers and musicians who will participate, and others who will give of themselves to make this annual event an experience that exalts only Jesus. And put it on your family’s calendar of events not-to-be-missed! You might also put in a request of our Father for good weather (last year was a bit soggy)!
Before we get to the summer fun, let’s not forget about VBS opportunities: Sunday, April 8th at 4:00 p.m. in the Senior Adult Center: ALL persons interested in helping in this year’s VBS need to plan to be at this meeting. Our last meeting had less than 20 people, and this meeting is absolutely critical if you plan to be involved. Please don’t make us play the whistle video again— join us!! Light refreshments will be served to highlight our Game On! theme. We are hoping to have so many in attendance that we need to move to the Family Life Center! Youth are welcome to join us, too! th

and I welcomed our sweet daughter, Anna Claire, into the world. Time seems to go by way faster when children are around. I remember the day we took Anna Claire home from the hospital. While many emotions and nervousness were happening inside of both Mallory and myself, the main feeling for me was … scared out of my mind. I remember thinking that this little person’s well-being is now in my hands. The first time Mallory and I went to put the car seat in the car, we almost lost our sanity. One of the scariest moments of my life is when Mallory went back to work, and I watched Anna Claire all by myself. The first few weeks I remember feeling queasy on various occasions (for obvious reasons). Now a year later, there are times when I am fearful, but I am not overall “scared out of my mind” because I have changed as a parent. I want to think I have gotten better at being a parent by merely being a parent. Putting the car seat in a vehicle takes about two minutes now. I look forward to the days that I get to spend with just Anna Claire and me. The various occasions of feeling queasy have faded away over time. I do not have it all figured out as a parent, but I am learning and growing.
2018 Summer Camp Dates - 7th-9th Graders Camp, Eunice La June 18th – 22nd -10th-12th Graders Camp, Marshall TX
July 23rd-27th
Lord reminded me of my personal growth in Him, the process of discipleship. The disciplines of a Christian (Bible study, prayer, worship, fasting … etc.) can seem overwhelming at times. For some of us, we may be fearful to spend time in prayer with God. At times we may feel inadequate to study God’s Word. In our obedience, the Lord grows us. We become a better follower of Jesus just by being a follower of Jesus. Through our obedience, the Lord will change us and use us in numerous ways. We might be fearful to pray but when we trust the Lord and seek him in prayer, over time prayer will become natural to us, and our fear will then turn into joy. We might feel inadequate to study God’s Word, but in our consistency, we will grow comfortable with the Word. Let us as individuals grow in our walk with Christ by walking with Christ. As we seek to grow together as a church body, let us cast aside all our anxieties and follow the Lord. Let us as a church grow in holiness by being holy.
“Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Greetings to you all, As you read this month’s Bridge Newsletter I and a group of 12 others from FBC Franklinton and Hillcrest Baptist Church will be in Honduras. SUNDAY EVENINGS AT 4:30 P.M. BEGINNING APRIL 15TH There Is No Quest Without Questions The crooked punctuation mark at the end of a sentence speaks of curiosity, interest, and perhaps doubt. A question is an invitation to vulnerability, to intimacy. The Bible does not shy away from such an invite. Over and over we see the people of God asking questions of their Creator. We also see the God of the universe asking questions of His creation. The Quest is a challenge to accept the invitation. In this six-week excursion with Jesus, Beth Moore uses questions from Scripture to lead you into intimacy with the One who knows you best. Learn to dig into the Word, to respond to the questions of God, and to bring your questions before Him. Let the crooked punctuation mark be the map that points you into a closer relationship with the Father.

WASHINGTON PARISH FOOD BANK UPDATE Do not grow weary in doing good. ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:13
The food bank had another busy month trying to meet the food needs of our many families. We continue to see about fifty families each Tuesday and Thursday of the month, and this would not be possible without our faithful volunteers. They are the ones who have made this ministry the success it has become and are the people that I appreciate so very much. Whether signing the shoppers in, assisting them to select their food, taking their carts to the cars and unloading them, restocking the shelves, or making the person feel special by simply asking how they are doing, all of this makes our families feel special and important. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. God bless you for what you do each week.
Thank you also to the Franklinton Elementary School and the Franklinton Primary School for the impressive food drives done last month to benefit the food bank. Thanks also to Lou Fussell and Robin Perez who make sure that their respective schools do not forget the food bank. It means so much and helps so many needs. Thanks to Ben Fussell too for continuing to be the best delivery person ever for the elementary school. Items currently needed the most at the food bank include rice, rice sides, soup, and boxed potato sides. If you feel led to donate, please consider these items. Also, volunteers are still needed, especially in the thrift shop. Please call me at 322-2017 to learn more.
