THE WESTERN REGION NEWSLETTER THE OFFICIAL NEWS PUBLICATION OF THE FBLA WESTERN REGION COUNCIL
INTRODUCTION Dear valued members, Over the past months, your council has begun working diligently to develop programs and initiatives to benefit you. One of the programs we are proud to announce is the creation of a Social Media live-stream on Instagram. This will take place with National FBLA Western Region Vice President Trentyn Tennant, on a specified date next month. On the live stream, you will be able to ask questions and talk about your ideas for the Western Region. We hope to see you there.

MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT TIPS by Kayla Damian Western Region Membership Director Membership recruitment and retention is a huge part of FBLA, and is a large component of our leadership development program. Even though it is late in the year, you can still recruit members for FBLA (Check your local and state deadlines). Tip One: Your social media presence is important! Creating an Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook are the best platforms to start out with. Social media is a great place to reach out to current members about events and service opportunities and to get the attention of prospective members to join. Tip Two: Incentives! Everyone loves food and prizes, which is why incorporating them into chapter meetings and events will draw in new members. Providing food at meetings, or a prize for the members who attend 10 meetings in a row is a way to not only draw in new members, but keep them coming back. Tip Three: Many schools offer “Club Rush” events to allow all the clubs and organizations to get the word out and gain new membership. It's important to get involved with these events and make sure that your chapters presence in your school is heard. Handing out candy and flyers with information is a great addition to participation in these events. Tip Four: Planning out chapter events to build that family feel within your chapter. Fun events can also be used for fundraising, such as bowling. Or they could be used for community service, such as volunteering at a local food bank. Tip Five: Keeping events and activities going throughout the year is imperative to keeping members involved and excited. It keeps participation high and continues that enthusiasm for your chapter.
Tip Six: Get the word out! Creating flyers and poster advertising for your chapter can go a long way. Eye catching slogans and designs will catch the curiosity of prospective members and draw them into chapter meetings.
