Chairman, Carnival Corporation & PLC Chairman, FCCA

On behalf of Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association and our Member Lines, I welcome you to the FCCA Caribbean Cruise Summit in beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico. This event is poised to be pivotal in helping attendees foster relationships and understanding to improve their cruise tourism business, which is now more important than ever while cruise lines and destinations continue to sail full steam ahead to recovery following the tumultuous seas due to COVID-19. Of course, this return has been due to the increased communication and joint work between the cruise lines, destinations and stakeholders – many of which are here now to keep moving forward and building back better together through this event’s opportunities to interact with and learn from those who can propel business. From business sessions including one-on-one meetings and workshops to networking opportunities during social functions, the event will put attendees in direct contact with cruise executives that decide where ships call, what sells on board and how to invest in destination products and infrastructure. Better yet, these executives will be on hand specifically to help attendees do more business with the cruise industry by addressing specific issues regarding the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Mexico, along with discussing facets of cruise tourism business like tours and infrastructure while forming invaluable business partnerships. Plus, Puerto Rico is ready to enchant you with its hospitality, culture, authentic offerings, and some of what guests see and do in this sensational destination that already hosts a strong cruise tourism product, but also has numerous projects on the agenda to increase its cruise calls and homeporting. I encourage all to take full advantage of the opportunities available, as they are geared to accomplish what we have seen is crucial – joining cruise executives, destinations and stakeholders to improve mutual understanding and success – while also having some good, old-fashioned fun with people perhaps only seen on a Zoom screen. 3

WELCOME MESSAGE

Welcome to Puerto Rico! The Government of Puerto Rico is proud to host the FCCA Caribbean Cruise Summit and look forward to welcoming all participants to our beautiful Island. The Puerto Rico Tourism Company is working to place the tourism industry at the forefront of our Island’s economic development and this year’s Florida Caribbean Cruise Association’s event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is part of its strategic plan to achieve this goal. Puerto Rico is delighted to welcome this convention amid the renaissance of the global cruise industry sector, making it an even more noteworthy and significant event. This conference is also the perfect occasion to strengthen partnerships and create new alliances in our undertaking to bring new ships and more passengers to all Caribbean ports. One word defines the Puerto Rico experience: Diversity. The Island is home to world-class tourist attractions and picturesque settings, providing the ideal getaway for travelers seeking a unique and memorable cruise experience. An amazing variety of locations and activities that range from a nature/adventure lover’s paradise with rainforests, cavern systems, extreme sports, and over 250 miles of beaches made for all types of watersports, to ultra-trendy nightlife hotspots, the latest trends in international cuisine, and luxury shopping locales await those who visit our shores. During your stay I invite you to take some time to enjoy the warmth and renowned hospitality of the Puerto Rican people, experience our cultural heritage, and explore amazing and unforgettable locations all over the Island. An Inclusive Destination The Island embraces diversity and enjoys many of the same rights as the United States. That’s why this archipelago is the top queer-friendly destination in the Caribbean, boasting a lively LGBTQ+ scene with plenty of activities and attractions throughout the Island. Also, Puerto Rico celebrates two annual pride parades. When visiting in June, you can participate in the Island’s local LGBTQ+ Pride Parades in San Juan or Boquerón. This first parade happens on June 5th, 2022, in the Condado district and travels from Parque del Indio, through Ashford Avenue, and towards Parque del Tercer Milenio at the

entrance of Old San Juan. You’ll enjoy the festive energy with performances by local LGBTQ+ artists. You can then take some time to explore Old San Juan and dive into the culture and history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. After sunset, you can tap into the city’s vibrant nightlife by visiting popular LGBTQ+ locations like El Cojo, Tía María Liquor Store, La Sombrilla Rosa, Kweens Klub and many others.

and pristine beaches. This laid-back yet charming municipality is home to Boquerón, one of the most popular beachside neighborhoods that feature kiosks, themed restaurants, local shops, and a relaxed atmosphere.
