Family, Career and Community Leaders of America FCCLA Mission To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

Coordinate a focus group to review current youth leadership offerings

Leadership in Family and Consumer Sciences
Position FCCLA’s leadership in the Family and Consumer Sciences fields and career options enabling youth members to explore leadership roles in these fields including but not limited to human services, hospitality and tourism, nutrition, early childhood development, financial literacy, fashion design and construction, interior design, culinary arts, and Family and Consumer Sciences education.
Member Leadership Programs •
Research post-secondary and middle/high school courses offered in each state to determine
the diversity and similarity of these programs

Coordinate recruitment strategies for each of these programs

Provide information on opportunities in each Family and Consumer Sciences field
•
Promote examples of excellence and success in the Family and Consumer Sciences field
Competitive Events •
Identify the impact of competitive events on career exploration in Family and Consumer Sciences fields

Seek experts in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences to evaluate competitive events

Research how to provide new career internship opportunities for competitive events participants

Host training for advisers in connecting Family and Consumer Sciences fields to FCCLA programs and leadership opportunities
