informal islands in the regular territory The exchanges in the border of inequality

The document intends to foment other proposals for the area, serving as a data base for the elaboration of projects that aim at the expansion of the dynamics in the local scale. The project improves and amplifies the existing dynamics in the urban-collective space of Terreirão and its relation with the territory where it is inserted. The stimulation of the use of public space must be accompanied by elements that encourage relationships and consequently promote the community, the community spirit and the idea of belonging to the place. Strategically positioned, the collective equipment would serve the community needs through public spaces with heterogeneous programs. Therefore, it would be shaped from the local needs, in order to make it an example the community to act in the future by understanding the collective as a great ally for social integration. The analysis of the evolution of the Terreirão and the region that it is inserted, as the first design movement, was essential for the understanding of the profile of the local inhabitants. Greater clarity was made possible over transformations over time and how they interfered in the formatting of the community Located in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood, west side of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Terreirão has its history connected directly to the dizzying growth of the neighborhood. From the domain of agricultural activity to one of the fastestgrowing neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro in recent years, the rapid rise of Recreio is clearly reflected in the development of Terreirão. Its urban singularities make the Terreirão a strong centrality in the region in which it is inserted. Over the years, a territory conducive to the formation of a strong and resilient community has been demonstrated. The site also stands out for its diverse urban morphology, its flat territory and its heterogeneity of land uses.

External pressure on empty sites

TerreirĂŁo acts like an island of informality in the middle of the formal territory of Recreio dos Bandeirantes.

As its not completely densed, the empty sites in the community became targets of the real estate markets, who is occupating them, therefore shrinking the informal territory.

Collective network

Dinamic grid

The proposal is to create spaces of social convergency in the remaining empty sites in TerreirĂŁo.

The interventions are based in the existing activities of the community and the neighbourhood. Therefore would estimulate and invigorate the uses of the surroundings.

Social porosoty The better connections and new activities placed in the borders of the informal territory would increase the social porosity between the two environments.

Border deployment

Scales of intervention

The equipments are strategically positioned in the border of the favela in the empty sites that it still posses, in order to contain the real state pressure coming from the surrounding formal urban fabric. The informal tissue must resist in a way to promote new connections with its external environment by new public equipments.

From a method of approach and distancing of the territory, the applications of each scale (tactical or urban) are set by the location that they are inserted, and each program has its own range of interference which is defined according to their characteristics and specificities.

Relation with the existent In order to define the location of the macrointerventions, the pre-existing equipment analyzed and the urban voids of the region were merged and studied to understand a better use and program for them. The choice for the spaces to be activated also arises from the preference for border lands and forgotten sites. Those are chosen because of it’s meaning to the community and the new net of possibilities that they can generate together with the existing equipments. Each program was planned in order to attend both of the formal and informal urban tissues, and by then create fields of connections for those communities, allowing democratic and public open spaces to bloom in the city, and stand a fight against the real state pressure in the favela.

01. Community center The new community meeting point is intended to encourage maximum use of the site by the people. The new building is made by metalic porticos which enables a flexible use of the space while allows a free circulation through the site. Next to it, it was created a public square to make a new public open space.

02. Pedestrian street The change in the character of the road, reserving the traffic for pedestrians, intends to enhance the capacity of the place through a better thermal and spatial comfort, by adding new urban furniture and trees. Promoting a better urban space for pedestrians and the surrounding commerce.

03. Educational core The creation of a new educational core in the region comes to ensure an adequate response to it’s social demand. The building was positioned in this way with ground to interface with the urban block and allow space for people to circulate underneath it directly to the adjacent new public square.

04. Organic garden The area located far from the center shows lack of attention by the community. The new equipment creates a more attractive interface with the surrounding by the metalic portico shape, that allows a free circulation and the large pathway. Behind it there are the public gardens which will be expanded through the field.

05. Sports unit The activation of the space of the sport court next to the kindergarden and the youth center, intends to reconnect the place to the community. A sports center makes it possible to create an open space to connect different people. The building is a grandstand with views for the both courts with changing rooms inside of it.

informal islands in the regular territory The exchanges in the border of inequality

Every year, populations are surprised by the occurrence of natural disasters, resulting in serious environmental, social and economic consequences. Often as a result of such phenomena, a portion of society is homeless, in conditions of extreme need. Given the high frequency, the intensity of these events and the complexity surrounding the issue of emergency housing, a debate about the consequences and solutions to this problem is necessary. The forced transition of a population of its property into a temporary housing contemplates much more than just the material aspects of such loss. The affected population, besides the material damages, suffers a psychological trauma, being helpless emotionally. The first step towards restoring the dignity of this group of people is therefore the creation of a shelter that provides the minimum conditions necessary for the restoration of the individuality and identity of the homeless. We understand the psychological condition as a guide, and the project is a reflection of this need to establish and recover its condition as an individual facing a situation of instability after disaster. The project is divided into three phases, which include the transition from emergency situation and instability to the condition of permanence. It is thus based on the appropriation of shelters by individuals as a tool that allows their reintegration into society rather than temporary support.

17

Felipe Gonzalez Portfolio 2017

Shelters The project is based on modules, which differ between housing and collective use, with the possibility of expansion being coupled to a larger number of elements. The design is thought from the simplification of the form, reducing the number of components, thus allowing a greater understanding and appropriation at the time of assembly, besides the ease of disassembly and logistics. The modules enable the individual to interfere in the final result, in which the outer layer - the “skins - that covers them, is dynamic, and can thus vary, allowing adaptation to the specifics of the context in which they would be inserted. It is a basic project that goes against the architectural spectacle, prioritizing the individual as the constructor of all their identities.

filling up the idle A rehabilitation of the void

The project intends to occupy the urban voids left by the construction of line 1 of the Tijuca metro station, a neighborhood in the northern area of Rio de Janeiro. Through their reintegration into the urban network, a project is proposed that takes into account the nature and environmental conservation, the different modalities and the organization of flows, the dialogue between public and private and the potential of exchanges between the systems, resulting in a more healthy and sustainable living for people of the city. Located in Tijuca, one of the most traditional, oldest and populous districts of the city, It’s surrounded by several natural landmarks such as the Tijuca Forest (thrid largest urban forest in the world), the Babilônia’s hill and six rivers.

Location history Its proximity to the center was responsible for the dense occupation of the neighborhood, initially by the upper classes. During the 50’s the city underwent a boom in road projects, which led to the construction of tunnels and big avenues creating new connections and changing the dynamics of the site. This growth led to greater investment in the area of civil construction, which, in the face of the city’s expansion towards Tijuca, generated the construction of a large number of buildings. In parallel, a process of irregular occupation begins, mainly in Tijuca’s hill, by lower classes that looked for housing next to the work. It was only in 1976 that mass transportation was introduced in the neighborhood, with the beginning of the subway works and its four stations, which would be completed in 1982. This capitalist process of construction and reconstruction of the city, in this case more specifically by the expansion of the metro Line 1, ended up creating idle, dangerous spaces, emptied of exchanges, people and nature.

23

Felipe Gonzalez Portfolio 2017

History The worked section includes the even and odd sides of Avenida Heitor Beltrão, between the squares and metro stations of San Francisco Xavier and Saens Peña, as well as its immediate surroundings. Through the street the river Trapicheiros flows, eventhough is channeled in almost all its extension and opened in only a few small stretches. Observing the evolution of the section, years after the inauguration of the subway, that is, years after the appearance of the voids, these residual but potential spaces continue to repel the city, the nature and the pedestrians, causing an urban imbalance in the region. It is a dichotomous question taking into account that the area has a highly consolidated urban fabric, it’s close to the city center and between two subway stations. Meanwhile, empty, walled, underutilized, impermeable and uncharted lands remain to reinforce the recurring problem of flood and flooding. At the same time, the intensity of commuting from suburban areas to the city is inscreasing. The process of spreading the city to suburban neighborhoods raises the number of people who need to take hours to reach their jobs located in central areas.

24

1870 - Primary ocupation

1950 - Densification

With the expansion of the coffee culture, the region began to be considered as an urban area and had significant infrastructure improvements, such as: piped water, sewage and electricity.

In front of the densification of the neighborhood, empty lands had become scarce and natural landmarks were reneged: rivers were channeled and the Babilonia’s hill was surrounded by buildings.

1976 - Metro implementation

2016 - Empty sites / visual barriers

The implementation of the subway in Tijuca demanded construction sites, causing the demolition of the surrounding buildings. The effect of the work is observed until today by several urban voids through the way.

The urban voids caused by the opening of the subway and the barriers generated by the densification of the neighborhood made it difficult for the public to visualize it.

2016 Identification of voids and visual barriers The urban voids, caused by the opening of the subway, and the barriers, generated by the densification of the neighborhood, make it difficult to visualize the public, private or visual landmarks, causing insecurity.

2021 - Phase 01 Mixed use buildings The creation of residential buildings with commerce on the ground floor again modifies the dynamics of the area by bringing new uses and interests. The sale of real estate enables the implementation of phase 3.

2026 - Phase 02 Remodeling the roadway After the occupation of the area, work begins on the remodeling of the road, which decreases the areas destined for the car and increases the permeable areas for pedestrian use.

2031 - Phase 03 New urban dynamics The creation of a linear park, which merges different urban layers, brings the public, private and natural spheres closer together, generating spaces for exchange.

Urban mobility In order to prioritize the pedestrian, knowing that the area is well watered by public transportation, it is opted to stop the passage of cars in the park stretch, freeing up more space for the pedestrian and cyclist and allowing only one bus road. The cycleway, integrated with the city’s bike lane, brings a new connection between the two subway stations, promoting a new passage. The intention behind all this changes is to try to discourage the use of cars and make it easier to transit between stations.

Urban redevelopment For the purpose to confirm the financial viability of the project and, taking into account the articulation between the public and private spheres, calculations were made. First, the Global Sales Value (GSV) was calculated for the residential private areas and the Gross Marketable Area (GMA). With the total of this amount 15% was stipulated for purchases of the land and the work expense of the buildings was calculated. Finally, the costs of redevelopment were calculated: roads, cycle paths, renaturalization of the river and parks;

Turning the useless into usefull A new look over forgotten opportunities

This project comes as a response to a development proposal that takes into consideration a critical reflection on concepts such as experimental, ephemeral and adaptive architecture. Also taking into account issues such as sustainable construction and the reuse of materials, techniques and spaces. The context of the project is the buildings of the Faculty of Architecture at University of Lisbon, in Ajuda neighborhood. The work aims to reuse the spaces of the roofs in order to enhance these spaces, responding to the needs of the academic community. Our proposal is then located in building four and our approach to intervention arises not only as the integration of objects into the building, but also as the integration of objects in the territory through visual communication zones.

Materiality As we seek to ensure to create ant ephemeral, adaptable and sustainable space, the chosen material should reflect this by being able to structure the installation and also by being easy to install and uninstall. For this reason, we have chosen light alloy profiles where cork modules and glass modules can be applied to suit the needs of the space. In relation to the material used as indoor flooring and used also as furniture we choose the pallete as a reusable and adaptable material. Another material used is the transparent plastic screen that can be used as a curtain, creating translucent covered spaces.

Adpatable furniture As with the whole project, the furniture and flooring are also designed to be modified over time according to the user needs. The pallete is a perfect object to adapt uses of new spaces, since it allows several modifications and combinations, which allows to explore “Roof 24 also as a space of creation, a certain extension of the university environment where the students have the possibility to design their own environments and put in practice the academic theories.

GLOCALIZATION OF LISBON The Erasmus City

The architecture of the monument is not in the monument itself, be it a palace, temple, museum or house, but in the application of it as a place where the present man inhabits the real (and not the past or the future) as an individual inserted in the world. According to Roland Robertson, glocalization means simultaneity where local and global are not excluded. On the contrary, the place should be understood as an aspect of the global. The glocalization takes into account the conjunction and the meeting of local cultures defined in the middle of this “clash of localities. The project consists of an urban structure of free access, where culture, knowledge, comfort and accessibility meet in or to create a place conducive to study and leisure. The idea is to merge the urban space with the building and create a new fluid open public space, creating an open and multifunctional environment where interpersonal interaction is promoted. The Hybrid Park is proposed as an urban equipment with the objective of integrating the educational institutions present in the neighborhood of Ajuda, generating a core of attraction and promoting a new meeting point for the community.

Current patrimony (Belém - South)

University centers (Ajuda - North)

When identifying the urban structures of the region, in Ajuda neighborhood as well as in Belém, it is evident the poor visibility that Ajuda has compared to Belém near to the river, due to the almost nonexistence of attractive urban poles.

Major equipments of the site, the university centers of University of Lisbon, Higher Institute of Agronomy and Lusíada University of Lisbon have become the most attractive equipment in Ajuda.

No connection

Meeting point - New centrality

Therefore, from this analysis of use and geographic positioning its possible to identify an urban ring currently disconnected between the three university poles.

A new opportunity arises in the region. Promoting a new connection between the universities in a single site, this is also capable of making a new centrality for Ajuda’s neighborhood.

The pre-existing equipment on the site are ineffective so they create idle, unused spaces. Removal is necessary in order to create an attractive and multifunctional area.

Due to its topography, the site presents a difference of 14 m from top to bottom, the building had to be planned to surround the points of water accumulattion

In order to insert the building in a way that it would use the construction as an easier way to walk through the site and its rugged topography.

In order to slow down the cars the road was replaced by a narrower and reshaped street, which provides a greater space also for the bike path that follows in parallel.

The building is inserted in the topography in a way to work around the difficulties of the terrain so that the walk through the building happens naturally.

Starting from the initial logic of diverse spaces, the terrain is divided in order to generate four distinct spaces, with specific programs and characteristics.

43

Felipe Gonzalez Portfolio 2017

The Program It is proposed a multifunctional equipment based on the distinct desires of people. This will enable to create an attractive equipment for the location, that uses it’s flexibility of use to attend the different existing demands. The way the building was planned and how it was put in the local topography allows the people to chootse from different paths, with different perspectives to pass through the site, in or out of the building, or between the alternative landscape areas.

informal islands in the regular territory The exchanges in the border of inequality

The true potential of an infrastructure within the city is its ability to vary scales. Therefore, it was necessary to first approach on a macro scale to identify the vocation of the territory. Inserted in São Cristóvão, the Quinta da Boa Vista park is located in a potential connective vector of the neighborhood, establishing a link through Glaziou park (still to be finished), interconnecting the residential areas of the neighborhood segmented by the railway line, the Maracanã sports complex, and the Feira de São Cristóvão. Once this relationship is assured, we understand that the new route must not only serve, but also intensify the connection between macro-regions. In parallel, being a smaller scale, but essential for the conclusion of the final objective creating the new urban knot, we believe that the seam between Quinta da Boa Vista and Glaziou Park is the nodal point that will affirm the identity of this field as whole. To this end, we seek to understand what and where are the accesses, origins, and destinations inside and outside of the park. Synthetically, we have two intentions of connection: the crossing path, which orients to the direct route and has have a clear and objective reading by the user, and another path of a more contemplative and pictorial character between the diverse vegetation of the park. As a way of applying these characteristics in the physical space, support structures are proposed to shelter different programs, permanences and viewings sights. Arranged during the direct course, these architectural equipments seek to ensure a clear path through the park by creating a relationship between themselves, or through morphology or materiality, making a clear language association.

In order to achieve the perception of pictorial nature, different layers of vegetation are chosen from the University of Rio de Janeiro’s research garden located next to the park.

Main paths

Green islands

Two main flows are identified in the park. One for a more direct passage and the other path with a more contemplative experience through the park

Placed between the equipments, the islands allow a multilayered connection in the landscape, by setting up a continuous park drawing.

Nodal points

Interlayered

Some nodal points are identified and structures with different uses will fill them up in order to establish a notion of continuity between the parks.

Once the both artificial and natural layers were deployed, now new paths are made to cross the whole area through this islands of percetion

Nodal points

Viewing cones

Some nodal points are identified and structures with different uses will fill them up in order to establish a notion of continuity between the parks.

The structure indicates the viewing points and enables a continuous and clear landscape understanding. They relate to visual landmarks of the city like the MaracanĂŁ Stadium and The Christ.

Vegetation Layer

Dense forest Stains of density are put in a way to direct views and promote quiet paths with a lot of shadow and high contact with nature.

Clear forest Large fields with large trees around them enable people to have an open use of the space but in the same time have a thermal comfort

High grass This diversity of low vegetation is positioned in the biggest hill of the park right next to museum promoting an open view to the park and a resting area for the public.

Low grass Those are situated in large fields to promote sunny areas of grass. They are preferable for sports and entertainment for the pets.

Wetlands This type of vegetation is located next to the lakes and channels in the area. Its existence helps to generate a more rich environment.

CASA DEL NIÑO A social refuge in Pavuna

The competition required a place to be a center for children, where they could spend a day, sleep, and feel at home, this would come to support the social needs of the area in which it would be implanted. Our group decided to go beyond and extend the interventions to a urban knot of the city. The equipment provides then a safe and cousy space for children and a multifunctional park structure for the public to use. The group designed together while graphic works were divided per all. The project is articulated in order to grant readability to the territory. The proposal is to occupy the field so that it is a conciliatory element of the different flows of the city, promoting the integration of the situations that are confronted there. The land is on the boundary strongly marked by a river of two municipalities, Rio de Janeiro and São João de Meriti. In addition to this territorial friction, the local urban fabric is marked by surface train tracks and viaducts, which break the pedestrian’s flow of scale. The project aims to mediate this change in the relationship between city, citizen and landscape that has been established over time. The creation of Casa Del Niño aims to articulate this integration. More than a space for the child, it is configured as a tool that allows sewing in the urban network between two previously circumscribed municipalities and territories.

Current viaduct

Section type

The proximity to the train station generates a large flow of people in the area. Meanwhile the current viaduct acts as a barrier to the site.

Looking at a section type of the viaduct its possible to imagine a new use for it which will improve the flow and the connections.

New connection

Pedestrian pathway

By using the structure of the viaduct it was possible to plan a cable-stayed bridge in order to provide a direct passage without any barries for the public of the area.

Now, the connections between the city, the train station and even to the site itself will have a great impact in the area, promoting a bigger use of it’s public space.

Fragmented sites

New connection proposed

The sites are clearly separated by the river that crosses them. The first step was to model a structure that with enable a better connection.

The new equipment would have to include the Casa Del NiĂąo plus a program that would support the area in which it is inserted,

Building permeability

Viewing points

The building is elevated in order to promote a better insertion in the city and a free flow to create a connection to the river.

It is again refurbished and while removing two blocks from the set, two balconies are created which provide a visual connection with the environment.

Terrace

Multifunction site

The roof of the buiding provides a 360o vision of the area and with differents connections with the ground it enlarges the public space.

The building improves the dynamics of the site in different ways, with a house for children, parks and entertainment for all people.

Social development It was proposed an action in the urban clipping that allows a change in the dynamics of flows, creating a cordon composed of three interventions: the pedestrian crossing through a cablestayed bridge supported by the existing viaduct, Casa Del Ni単o and the bridge - community space - contact with the municipality of S達o Jo達o de Meriti. The creation of this space implies bringing new values to education and teaching methodologies, giving new horizons to children in relation to their way of living and relating. The architecture is as a tool for the implementation of new ideas and the integration between school and neighborhood is essencial in order to promote a sense of neighborhood and unity.

in connection with nature A private house in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro

Located at the base of Gåvea’s Hill, the house establishes a dialogue between the topography and the exuberant nature where it is inserted. The strong relationship with the sea and the desire for a clean look to the horizon are the party points that guide the projected solution. From then on, it is necessary to understand how the volumes of the program support each other and create a new relation of interior / exterior, being this process the base of the system of paths through the house. Thus, two volumes are formed, arranged perpendicular to each other, where the upper volume is supported by the lower volume at the north side while in its south side the house is structured by a rock wall. Spacially the house is divided into 3 distinct moments: 1. Upper volume is defined as the most intimate block of the house where the master suite is located and an office. 2. The entrance of the residence takes place through the volume that projects itself in the horizon, that in turn, contemplates a wide space totally integrated to the leisure area, directing the view to the border. 3. At the lower level there are located the vertical gardens, which relate to the multifunctional space where it is possible to organize events and access the sea. It is in this space there is a volume in balance, where the bar and the DJ are positioned, is in constant balance between the land and the sea, reflecting the client’s spirit.

The house structural elements are a thick stone wall and a block that contains in the first floor the kitchen and dinning room, and in its bottom floor are the guest rooms.

The private block with the master suite is then put on top of the structural basis, creating as well the living room underneath it. In this way it enables the air to flow better and create a comfort meeting space.

The structural block, as the one the suffers the most from solar insulation, has its main facade covered with wooden slats, in order to provide a beter thermal comfort in the dinning room and guest rooms.

Internal fluency

Green roof

Leisure space

Two openings are made in the strucutral stone wall in order to allow a connection with the rest of the projects area.

To contain the strong insullation of the beach area, two green roofs are planned, one in the suite master’s terrace and the other one in the barbecue’s roof.

The site explores a big diversity of integration spaces, allowing the house to receive the guests with comfort. It also provides a garage for water vehicles, under the lower terrace and stairs to the ocean water.

informal islands in the regular territory The exchanges in the border of inequality

The region is experiencing a moment of modifications in its urban fabric, due to the great events like World Cup and Olympic Games of 2016. According to the City Hall of the state of Rio de Janeiro the Urban Operation Porto Maravilha has the purpose to promote the Local restructuring, through the articulation and requalification of public spaces, aiming at improving the quality of life of its residents. It is believed that with this intervention the region will attract a greater number of visitors and new residents. The expectation is that the population that today is 22 thousand happens to have an environment of 100 thousand inhabitants in 10 years. The site is located in the Gamboa neighborhood between Rivadávia Correa and Gamboa, one of the neighbors of the project’s site is the Cidade do Samba, which should present a great integration with the residents, but instead is seen by them as a segregation point because the main attractions are aimed at tourists. The implementation of the project follows from four blocks, the first one facing Mortona Street, the second for Rivadavia Street and the third for Gamboa Street, the last block is located between the second and third, in order to generate a space “in between”, a raised private square facing the public space on the ground. All four of the buildings are of mixed use, with a commercial ground floor and the remaining six floors of residential area, which are composed by 200 apartments. In view of this whole process of development in the area and aiming for an integrated space we created a public space in the ground floor, which can be accessed by three streets of the along the site due to the blocks the configuration, it allowed to create a public square, generating a new leisure space for the region. In the surroundings of the square, there are services such as shops, restaurants, bars, bakery, bank, among others. Below the elevated residential square we located the market, which has one access from the public square and also a outer street. The stores together with an ample space of tables and of circulation configure the market. The shops are independent, each one with its own owner. In order to provide a better natural light for this environment, we design skylights in its coverage facing the elevated square, which contributes to the square’s lighting as in the night it’s illuminated by the market lights. The skylights together with the landscaping and the furniture make up this leisure space aimed for the residents.

No to the block !

Public market

Aiming to contrast other typologies presented in the surroundings, we seek in our project to create a better integration with the pedestrian, so that he feels invited to participate in the building’s environment.

Crossing the market allows a greater flow of pedestrians in this space, in addition to a greater integration with the public square.

Permeability

Private square

From the crossings in the ground floor we define the four blocks, making them the drivers of the pedestrian flow. The way they are deployed on the ground reinforce the character of neighborhood, which is very present in the region.

At a two storey height, its located the private square. It maintains the privacy of the residents, and the relationship with the users of the public space, as they have as free visual communication between them.

Public square

Inner connections

Crossing through the public square allowing a greater integration between Rivadavia Street and Gamboa Street.

The first residential floor of the central block was removed, allowing a connection between the two private squares, expanding the leisure space.

Typological diversity

Interactions

The public space of the project, shops, urban market, square, are concentrated on the ground floor, while the other floors are strictly residential.

Through this implementation we enable a greater integration of the pedestrian with the interior of the project, so that he feels invited to participate in this space.

Felipe Gonzalez Portfolio 2017

Attractive environment The Gamboa neighborhood and the port area of Rio de Janeiro, lacks in leisure spaces, as well as in certain services, like markets, restaurants, bakeries, pharmacies, among others. Having in consideration those issues and also the rehabilitation works in the port area (“Porto Maravilha) for the olympics of 2016, we have sought from the beginning to work in the best way with the relationship that architecture could establish with the urban environment, offering quality and diverse public spaces, as we know the population of the area will inscrease exponentanially in the next few years with the finishing of the works. Through the conformation of the blocks we obtain a wide open space, which is composed by a public square. Surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants, as well as proximity to the market, it guarantees an intense flow of people throughout the day, making the place a pleasant and safe place.

Apartment typologies With a total of 200 units we presented 3 types of apartments with the purpose of serving different types of users. In the first block facing Mortona Street we have 8 apartments per floor in which we concentrate the larger units, of 60m² and 75m², large apartments with 2 bedrooms. Together with the 60m² units we have an independent space of 12m² that creates a private circulation from the hall to the apartment. So that this can become a work space, as well as income if you want to rent it, since it allows you to have a bed, a toilet and a glass. In the other three blocks we concentrated smaller apartments with 37m² in order to meet other types of users, such as seniors, young couples and students. In order to provide a better environmental comfort in the apartments, we design facades facing street with brise soleil, protecting the apartments of a greater solar incidence. In the cover in three blocks there is a green roof as a way to guarantee a better acoustic comfort and better thermal conditions. In the block above the raised square we propose in its cover a vegetable garden in which all the residents can share.
