Hi, I’m Felix Lim, a final year architecture student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
6
I consider myself a substantially ambitious individual with very peculiar taste in about everything. Driven by idealistic visions of an outcome (not gpa, lol) I tend to do things in a relatively exuberant and/or unconventional, and thankfully original way.
My interests lie mostly in the world of aesthetics, art, music and culture. I steer towards the Avant-Garde movement and Dadaism so i tend to express it through my projects and my taste in fashion. As inspirations I look towards Solange Knowles, Acne Studios and Iris Van Herpen.
I strive to refine my sensitivity of aestheticism through exposure and experimentation into the world of avant garde design, fashion and music.

Vintage Trade Pop-Up Market @ Canning Rise Focus: Exploring relationships between Thrift culture and Architecture
Recently, vintage youth resellers are becoming more popular for providing a cheap and sustainable solution to branded clothing. Many of these online initiatives have opened up their own physical store and regularly have pop-ups in Singapore. These areas tend to be more secluded to the street cultured instead of the general population.
Project Restocked explores this untapped youth potential and rising culture and its associations to architecture. Fashion and architecture is often explored, Thrift store fashion however is rare. Having engaged in this culture, the vibrant retro fabrics have become the roof of the market, the colourful lantern is a beacon to the city. It serves as an introduction of thrift culture to other generations of the general population.
11
Situated on the newly pedestrianised Canning Rise road, the market serves to expose the hidden culture of vintage fashion regularly used by students in the area; SOTA, LASSALE, NAFA‌ The taste for vintage is easily acquired and its sustainability portion attracts shopperholics of all ages. It’s prime location in the city is key for this integration to be successful.

KILN+
2019
Social Ceramics and Solemnization Centre Focus: Promoting Shared Art Space Initiative The registry of marriages and muslim marriages in singapore will be receiving the new population of couples in a age of contemporary and socially dynamic generation. considering the socio-political scape of youth issues, this generation is expected to have more egalitarian attitudes while the traditional mindsets of the older remain.
Project KILN+ seeks to provide a contemporary spatial setting to facilitate new social and communication issues as to maintain family and community structure through ceramics craft programs and pop-up events and markets. the archaeological aspects of the site and trend make clay crafts a suitable choice of activity and the art instilled museums enhance the work.
15
The Site which sits on the current ROMM’s plot is located in the museum planning area, surrounded by art schools and youth startup projects. The observable are of art and fashion businesses The location in Fort Canning Park gives the opportunity to dwell within the the hidden Archaeological research aspects of Singapore which I took inspiration for building material and earth forms

The informal corners and curves allowed playful furniture planning and large activity plazas to occur on all oors. The furniture layout also then ows through the site as the walls do. The unique monumentalism creates a common topic for interaction and gathering.

Interior Architecture for ROM(M) Focus: Facilitating Cross-Generational Ethics
To reect a new, contemporary generation. postmodernism was used as a reference to the youth’s style of idolizing retro aesthetics but with a more contemporary twist.
Similarly to project kiln+, the design seeks to mediate cross-generational issues and ethics within age subcultures. by providing a completely unique space where interested youths can come to take photos or take a break after strolling through the park. it gives opportunities for informal interaction or through programs and workshops

HANOK한옥
2019
Contemporary Korean Home Focus: Relationship between Confucian ideals & Interior Design Hanok is a term to describe traditional Korean houses. Based on neo-confucianism ideas which ground the building as an extension of the site and display social hierarchy of the inhabitants.
Taking inspiration from Korean Confucian ideas and practices that still saturate South Korean culture and daily life, the spatial elements were based of traditional confucian Hanoks. Where familial relations govern spatial hierarchy. However, considering modern context, the house is warped as a personal view on confucianism in a contemporary period. Approaching the project as an abstract art concept of how confucianism remains vaguely undefined, I modified the hierarchy from oldest to youngest/ weakest into gathering to personal. To centre the familial spirit of being together as the “power source” of the household as opposed to an individual. The elements that define this concept are further explored through using aesthetic and style elements that define both confucian and contemporary period as an assemblage of furnishing.
24
Reinterpreting Philosophy: Bedrooms are now equal in size and placement whereas gathering spaces are given more functions and hence more reason to utilize them. Giving spatial “power” to family centric areas.
Voids and Harmony: Paths guide inhabitants to gathering areas so as to enjoy indoor activities while retaining a visual gathering point as the courtyard to maintain balance of nature vs man-made conflict
Traditional Hierarchy: (Individual status) Grandparents>Father>Wives>Children>Serva nts
Voids and travelling path logic play a strong part in traditional confucian houses where the courtyard acts as a void The pathways of daily life ensure the gathering spaces are always utilised and important. They act as ‘voids’ where mental clarity is attained by familial interaction
New Hierarchy: (Family convergence Rate) Gathering areas> semi-accessible areas > private

CO-HABITAT
2018
Eco-Resort @ Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Focus: Enhancing Wildlife + Human Habitation
As one of the few mangroves left in the world, project co-habitat focuses on mangrove conservation and educational programs in hopes of spreading the importance of sungei buloh as a wildlife protected site and how crucial mangrove habitats are to its very diverse inhabitants.
Project co-habitat aims to use the luxury of a resort to attract influential members of society to aid in this mission. the resort serves as a nature observatory and wildlife enhancement area which will let guest feel at home with the existing fauna.this opportunity for interaction allows for meaningful experiences and forming relationships with singapore’s last natural mangrove by becoming “one with nature”.

When presented a eco-sensitive site, the common response is to preserve the existing trees and vegetation. however this does not regard the future vegetation and spaces where new trees will grow. Rather than the usual “do not disturb approach, the project aims as to not preserve, but rather enhance the existing natural environment.

OASIS HUB
2018
Senior Activity & Care Centre @ Compassvale Focus: Mental Rehabilitation for the Elderly
In a rapidly growing city, Singapore' s cityscape becomes hectic and overloaded with physical and emotional elements. For the clinically depressed elderly, going out can be emotionally overwhelming. Isolating themselves at home speeds up the ageing process.
To counter this, the Oasis Hub seeks to provide a haven of refuge by separating off the surrounding city life Simplistic buildings and landscaping is both spiritually grounding and emphasise the concept of Oasis, a sanctuary of growth and life within an unrelenting desert. The landscape also acts as a divider between passive and active events.

ME-MOSA
2017
Origami Pavilion Focus: Dynamic Spatial Enclosures
Project “Me-mosa” was designed as an urban eco-lounge personalised structure that could suit to everyone’s needs. the name originate from the word ‘mimosa’, the plant, due to how each cells open and closes like the leaf, and the ‘me-’ in ‘Me-mosa’ symbolizes the importance of the versatility that holds within the structure for the users to change however they intend it to be.
The architecture reflects the nature of fluidity that represents in the structure, and consist of two main components which are the cave that acts like a shelter, and the valley that acts like a seat. The design promotes a sense of place of social interaction and encourage staying.
