Rosenstiels takes great pleasure in presenting our newest photography collection. It is a carefully curated visual travelogue that will take you to far-off destinations and exotic cultures around the world. Our award-winning photographers have captured breath-taking panoramas from every continent. Through their sharp and talented eye, we experience the pulsating cultures of South America and Hispania, the dramatic rural landscapes and urban cityscapes of North America, and Europe’s diverse history and contemporary lifestyles. We take in alluring and fascinating Asia; ‘hear’ the ancient, mysterious stories of Africa; Australia beckons us to a new world Down Under, and we marvel at the spectacular quiet of the Arctic and Antarctica. Rosenstiels showcases within this volume, the newest trending photographic techniques and styles in the Home Décor trade: from a high contrast black and white play on light and shadow, to bleached out romantic textures and the new polaroid craze. This world travel photography catalogue is a visual feast of landscapes, flora, people, animals, and things!

Conservation International - Fighting to protect nature for people Since 1987, Conservation International has worked to spotlight and secure the critical benefits that nature provides to humanity. Combining fieldwork with innovations in science, policy and finance, we’ve helped protect more than 6 million square kilometres (2.3 million square miles) of land and sea across more than 70 countries. Today, with offices in more than two dozen countries and a worldwide network of thousands of partners, our reach is truly global. But we couldn’t have made it this far without you. Your contributions support our work to protect nature for the benefit of us all. Our Mission Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, Conservation International empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity. Our Vision We imagine a healthy, prosperous world in which societies are forever committed to caring for and valuing nature, for the long-term benefit of people and all life on Earth. 284

Rosenstiels is proud to partner with Conservation International, to spread awareness of the environmental threats to our planet, and what we as a global community can do to help. We encourage you to support their efforts.
OUR PLANET IS IN CRISIS Science is telling us we must change the course of Earth’s development if we are to avoid catastrophic impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss. If we do not take dramatic action, after 2030 we will have surpassed planetary tipping points. No amount of money or innovation will put our planet back on a sustainable path. The next 10 years will be the most important years of our lives. The world is waking to this challenge — and Conservation International is doing its part. With your support, we can protect our planet for ourselves and future generations.
As part of our celebrations for the 140th anniversary of Rosenstiels, we decided to make a substantial commitment and contribution towards protecting our environment by proudly partnering with Conservation International. Our aim is to spread awareness of the environmental threats to our planet, and what we as a global community can do to help.

Andreas Stridsberg Jaki (Broken Ice) Inspired by Conservation International’s film ‘Ice’, Andreas explains... “Visiting Iceland in 2015, there was one place in particular that blew my mind on so many levels: Jökulsárlón and its melting glacier, leaving these giant blocks of ice washing up all over the black beaches. The first thing I noticed as I arrived was the extreme sense of clarity in the air. I have never ever breathed fresher air in my entire life and I’ve been to many remote places. So to bear witness to this decay was more sad than anything else.”

Deborah Azzopardi Mother Nature Inspired by Conservation International’s film ‘Mother Nature’, Deborah explains... “A strongly placed female hand lays open whilst delicate but perfect Red Rose petals fall gently into it representing love. The same hand is simultaneously birthing a large blue tsunami of water giving life, and feeding essential nutrients into the planet that we are lucky enough to call home. The mountains are juxtaposed with two white Calla Lily’s representing peace - beautiful, fragile, and exquisite flowers standing tall, cushioned by their vivid emerald green leaves. All are a sentiment to the purity of life and the beauty that is vigorous with undeniable fragility which ‘Mother Nature’ holds in the palm of her hand. She is the force that makes the wind sing, she is the essence that makes your senses ignite. She is dusk, she is dawn, she is everything you know. She is ‘Mother Nature’.”

Joëlle Wehkamp Nature Is My Home Inspired by Conservation International’s film ‘Home’, Joëlle explains... “Nature is our home, it is all around us. Our sweet home. Our floor, our roof. Our view. Our everything! For the love of nature I painted a cosy cottage surrounded by colourful flower fields. And a pink sky full of clouds and birds. The five layers of flowers represent the 5 elements of earth: water / earth / fire / metal / wood.” LIM: GL555 (Paper Size 36 x 28 ins | 90 x 71 cms)

Wink Gaines En Route Sandhill Crane pairs mate for life. It is not unusual for pair-bonded individuals to fly beside one another and in draft formation with the thousands of other birds who undertake the epic annual spring and fall migrations both to and from the warm climes of South America to the frozen Arctic. Wink’s image of such a bonded pair, taken as the flock migrates through Nebraska in the Spring, depicts their exquisite beauty and aerodynamics in addition to their closeness as a couple.

Staffan Widstrand Treading Lightly “This image is from The Galápagos islands, taken in the morning, a very still day, on board an expedition vessel. Three species of storm-petrels slowly fluttered by the ship, regularly seeming to run on the sea’s surface a few steps, in their pursuit of the small insects and crustaceans. These birds are really tough, living far out at sea, only coming to land to lay their eggs and rear their young. I think they are beautiful and they symbolize the connection between land and sea, the one dependant on the other. I just wish that the human species would also come to better understand this inter-dependability we have with everything else on the planet. “Biodiversity” might be seen a boring, academic word, but what it really means is “All the life around us”. We must not pretend that we can live our lives without it.”

Irene Suchocki The Power of Petals “The word ‘flower’ often conjures an image of a delicate and fragile thing. However, some of my favorite flowers are anything but. They are instead bold and dramatic and demand one’s attention. The pink peony is such a flower. I like to think of her as a bit of a diva, but one that fully deserves the attention and praise she garners due to her exquisite beauty, gloriously arranged petals, and audacious color. We would do well to tap into flower power to inspire us to be bold and audacious in our efforts to protect our planet.”

Steven Dews Off Kaap Hoorn ‘Off Kaap Hoorn’, the original name for what is today Cape Horn, is named after the City of Hoorn in the Netherlands from whence the original discoverer hailed. It is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago of southern Chile. Steven Dews’ painting illustrates the unforgiving, desolate environment which represents the ultimate challenge for all sailors from around the World. Steven has painted this subject twice and found it one of the most challenging subjects he has ever undertaken. He stated, “It was difficult to produce a painting without a focal point that would be stimulating; this one was more about emotion than timber and sailcloth.” He painted a deliberately high horizon to give the impression of scale with the anvil-hard rock face illuminated by a blast of light, leaden sky and towering waves advancing relentlessly eastward.

Matt Roseveare Bright Ocean “I took this photograph while diving in the Red Sea in January 2020. I was struck by the clarity of the water and the vibrant colours of the coral, teeming with the millions of fish and other sea creatures living within it. Coral reefs are an important barometer for our Oceans – small rises in temperature have a devastating effect on their existence and already many reefs around the world have shrunk or disappeared completely. I hope that this picture illustrates the beauty and diversity that lies just a few metres below the surface and inspires others to continue the fight to preserve such a unique and incredible part of our Natural World.”

Mikael Svensson Together “As a nature photographer I am inspired very much by the natural world around us, from the peaks of mountains to the depths of the seas, however it is the forests that I am always drawn to. Their incredible strength, beauty and natural resilience, which I have captured in this photograph. I have been photographing woodland for many years, and in that time countless trees around the world have been felled for our own gain. Trees that provide so much for us, that clean our air and water and are a home to an abundance of creatures around the world. This devastating destruction needs to stop immediately, it is time to put our planet first, and we can start by letting our forests thrive.” LIM: GL581 (Paper Size 28 x 36 ins | 71 x 90 cms)

Peter Adams Icelandic Peninsula Suze Adams, Artist/Writer and Widow of Peter Adams explains... “It was with little doubt that when invited to choose a photograph for Conservation International that, even after looking through many of Peter’s photographs, I kept returning to this one. I know that the Icelandic environment inspired Peter. This was right, the one for the Special Edition print collection.” The following words were found by Suze in Peter’s journal, written whilst travelling in Iceland. “When I found this vantage point looking out over the river with the waterfall to the left, the post-glacial mountain in the centre, and the sea and distant hills to the right, I knew I had found something special. The clouds had cleared and the sky was a deep blue with a few white clouds, plus a wisp coming from the mountain, just perfect. I pressed the shutter several times and hoped that one of the results would reflect something of the awe I felt, the wonder that I knew as I stood in front of this vast panorama. A small and insignificant human before the raw elemental power of nature.”

Andrew Geiger Mountains in the Mist “Many times when I’m shooting in the mountains I feel like a hapless thief who manages to steal away with images full of power and emotion. I’m very honest with myself and realize it’s not my artistic insight that makes the photograph, but that of the environment around me being so obviously spectacular and up in your grill. This image is a prime example of this self truth, I didn’t do much other than to be present, document nature and know how to properly expose the film. The mountains and clouds did the heavy lifting, as nature always does.”

Lucy Francis Ocean Adventure “The ocean is essential to life on our planet, and is a world that should be respected and nurtured. So many species call the ocean their home, and it is a tragic reality that so many of them are endangered. Sea turtles are threatened every day by plastic pollution, illegal trade and the loss of their coastal homes and habitats. Though they have been a part of our planet for millions of years, now nearly all species of sea turtles are classified as endangered. The actions we take can make a difference to the survival of these creatures, along with that of many other species that call the ocean their home. My illustration depicts an aerial view of a Green Sea Turtle, gliding through the ocean. I wanted to focus on the intricate patterns and beautiful markings that adorn their flippers and shells.”
