Welcome to House Nation Magazine The ambitions of House Nation Magazine are to cover current events, and personalities of New York underground House, Hip Hop and Pop cultures. It has been my passion to try to do things differently and capture unseen moments, or personalities inventively. There are many stories that have unspoken strengths and personalities behind them. I hope the readers will enjoy the limited amount of issues that will be published quarterly. Secondly, I want to express gratitude to staff members, volunteers, and friends, family and especially to artists and DJ’s for allowing me to be part of events that helped built the some of foundations for underground music scenes. Thank you, I have learned so much through the fellowship and it has been an honor. Sincerely Fella Rodriguez HouseNationMagazine@gmail.com

The ambience of PRINCE N KING is a night of dance classic and house music made popular by legendary Club Paradise Garage and private parties of The Loft during 70’s, to 80’s Era. PRINCE N KING is an invitation only event which is currently organized by DJ Hiram, DJ Coney, DJ Ralph and the brothers Charlie and Willie. Dancing on 2,000 sq. ft. floor with disco ball spinning overhead, glittering in dark make you feel like you’re in a dance sanctuary from 7pm to 2 am.

Founder of is PRINCE N KING DJ Hiram quotes: “Relationships between DJs and the audience is very important especially when they know you’re bringing them back in time with music.” PRINCE N KING ideology focuses on simplicity and keeping the tradition playing vinyl records alive. The music is being played from beginning to end as the artist intended it to be heard. Events are held four times a year and strictly by invitation only. It’s a good thing they do this because it builds up the enthusiasm for next party.

How can I describe DJ Will Milton Bliss parties in one word...? "DEEP" So deep in fact that he makes you feel like the stars are coming down to dance with you. Maybe this is why he has a large following of women. No Doubt!! Make sure you arrive early to enjoy the dance floor space, because by Midnight, it's filled with bodies rhythmically swaying to the music. Towards the middle of the night, he throws a few house classics and examines the audience to see what to play next to woo them with enchanting house beats. To get into it, he plays new songs from his album "Traditions" with wonderful deep beats with rich melodies. Wil Milton is a music producer, songwriter, DJ, and has a very strong history with the New York Underground Scene.

The fascinating to hear percussions players jamming on side are in sync with his mixing style. Between percussions players and DJ Wil Milton you are being taken to a tribal journey. A lot of songs are jazzy beats with deep, sweet sounds of flute or guitar generating the crowd to wave and clap their hands. This is the party to lift your spirits up, hold your love one, and fellowship celebrate a Bliss experience which he carries in every event he does. His follower comes from a long history over 15 years, playing with other artist, venues and outdoor events. One of his main residency was Power line at the Coffee Cave located in Newark , New Jersey which ran for two years strong. His is humble, brilliant, energetic, charismatic, what else can I say; you have to be there to see the stars fall down when Wil Milton spins.

On Wednesday Oct 30th I received an invite from party promoter Dorian Michael to come to the ‘Back to Paradise Just Vinyl Party’, at the Village Lantern, located in lower Manhattan. I thought it would be a nice change to hang out in the Village on Halloween Eve. What I wasn’t ready for was meeting legendary DJ Sherdina, a pioneer that helped open up the field for other Women DJs in New York. Watching her mixing over the decks, playing Paradise Garage Classic Funk and Disco was astounding. Did she capture my attention along with the other people at the Village Lantern? Yes, the crowd was a mixture of young college students to older garage and house heads, who gravitated towards her music on the dance floor. It was the utmost honor to talk with a woman who bypassed the sex gendered politics of the day; and who has over thirty years of experience in the music business as a DJ. Her knowledge of all styles of music is impeccable. She is also a photographer, writer, music producer and event promoter. DJ Sherdina has played at some of New York’s top clubs, such as Lime Light, Club Avalon, China Club, Palladium, Supper Club, Sound Factory Bar, Club Cheetah, Club Elite, Nell’s Super Club, The World, Club Octagon, Roxy, and many more including exclusive private events. During the interview she mentioned that legendary DJ, Producer Tee Scott was the person who most inspired her to become a DJ. She talked about how difficult it is for Woman DJ’s to be given a chance to play and get the same pay scale as their male counter parts. You have to be assertive and sharp in business to get what you rightly deserve, she stated. DJ Sherdina quoted “I always infuse the energy of love and harmony in my mixes with the sole purpose of uplifting the crowd and taking them on a special journey of love. Love has always and always will be my message. Come into my world and enjoy my love of music and creative arts.”
