ON THE COVER Fatherhood is fun but it is twice the fun with twins! Twin boys, Liam and Aiden, can’t wait to spend Father’s Day with their dad, Avi. Cover photograph by Lynn of Lynn Studios, Inc. www.lynnstudios1.com | PBParenting.com | June 2020 3
Letter From The Publisher Greetings, Raise your hand if you are glad virtual school is over? I know I am. This certainly wasn’t what we expected for the end of the school year but it is over. School is done! It was a tad bittersweet for me. This was my daughter’s last year of elementary school and she is on her way to middle school next school year. We didn’t get to properly graduate and say goodbye to 5th grade. I know she is sad she won’t get to say good-bye to her friends and teachers before starting a new school. Places are starting to re-open and we have a list of some places to take the kids this summer. Make sure to also check out our Summer Camp Directory. There are physical and virtual camp options to keep the kids busy this summer. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Last month, moms had their date now it is your turn. PB Parenting didn’t want you to feel left out so we compiled a list of some great local ideas with the kids while maintaining social distancing. We hope you have a fun day with your little ones! During the downtime of summer, make sure to connect with PB Parenting online! Like our facebook and instagram pages, join either one of our facebook groups (Palm Beach County Moms (moms only) or our co-ed group Palm Beach County Parents or our new Palm Beach County NICU Parents Group), sign up for our e-newsleter and stay up to date with new openings and activities to do with the kids. Stay Safe and Happy Parenting,

Does Dad play chess? Or maybe he wants to learn. The whole family can play and learn chess with Story Time Chess. The stories and supporting materials communicate the rules of chess to children ages 3 and up in a way that makes learning chess simple and fun. Best of all, no chess experience is required for parents or children to learn. With whimsy names like Bea and Bop, The Bishops, Clip and Clop, and The Knights, the iconic black and white game pieces come alive with backstories that are fun, silly and naturally memorable. Here’s a fun video that explains the game and how it works: https://www. facebook.com/StoryTimeChess/videos/465299157235137/ There are so many benefits to learning the game, no matter your age or ability. K-12 students will benefit the most with strengthening academic performance, improving retained test scores, enhancing arithmetic skills, sharpening critical thinking and boosting EQ – emotional intelligence. Parents who don’t play chess themselves will be relieved that if they can read a story to a child, they can teach them chess (and learn the game themselves)! Story Time Chess (https://storytimechess.com/storytime-chess-the-game/) is based on a chess teaching method that has been utilized and perfected over the last 12 years through a New York City-based company called Chess At Three, which has successfully taught over 80,000 children in the last decade how to play chess through stories. The brand-new game compresses 12 years of knowledge from teaching young kids how to play chess and the result is a beautifully designed game that can teach any person from age 3 to 103 years old how to play chess through fun engaging stories and exercises. For more information check out www.storytimechess.com.

8 Fun ways to spend Father’s Day
Looking for simple and meaningful Father’s Day activities? Things are starting to open back up and there are many ways to celebrate dad and retain social distancing. Check out these fun activities for children of all ages and dads with all different interests.
1. Play Mini-Golf Whether Dad is a pro on the golf course or more of a putt-putt kind of guy, an afternoon of golf is fun for fathers and kids alike. Stick with miniature golf if the kids are beginners. Right now The Conservation Course at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is included with admission. This is an 18-hole miniature course designed by Jim Fazio and Gary Nicklaus, located in the Science Center’s beautiful backyard. 2. Get out on the water. With so many waterways right in our backyard get Dad on the water! Whether he loves fishing or wants to go kayaking, a day on the water is sure to make Dad happy. 3. Go for a Bike Ride Spending the day cruising around on two wheels is fun and also healthy for Dad and 8 June 2020| PB Parenting |
the kids. Try a bicycle scavenger hunt to make it even more interesting. Dad doesn’t own a bike? You can rent bikes from Jupiter Outdoor Center at Riverbend Park. 4. Go camping Camping is a great way to get some fresh air and take a break. You can also pitch a tent in your backyard. Especially if his kids are too young to make it through a night at the campsite, consider setting up a tent in your backyard for a similar experience. Smores, sleeping bags, camp fire and you can always go inside if it gets to hot and buggy. 5. Make Art together Want to make a gift with Dad or paint something for Grandpa? Paint dad a new mug or stein! Order online: Picasso’s Creative Workshop, https://mysite-103984-108964.square.site/. Pick up your kit using our no contact curbside pick up at studio or free local delivery. You can make it ahead of time or paint it together on Father’s Day. 6. Have a Movie or Game Night Order or make Dad’s favorite pizza buy some
candy snacks and turn on a family-friendly flick that he’ll love. Maybe Dad loves Board Games - let him pick his favorite game. 7. Pack up a picnic All Dad wants for Father’s Day: sandwiches, sunshine, and his favorite people hanging out. Enjoy the sunshine and head out to the park or beach! 8. A Day with the Animals Take Dad for a walk on the wild side and check out the animals. If Dad is a sea turtle or marine life fan check out Loggerhead Marinelife Center or Sandoway Discovery Center both are open to the public. If he likes 4 legged furry friends the Palm Beach Zoo reopens on June 4th. Wherever you decide to take Dad, PB Parenting hopes it is a fun, relaxing day surrounded by his favorite little people!

Remove the 2nd batch of cherry mixture and stir to combine. Fill the pop molds with a final layer of the remaining cherry mixture, add pop sticks, pressing down through the partially frozen layers and freeze until solid, at least 4 hours. Run under warm water to release pops from molds and serve!
