Su ertime is fun-time
Going back to school after the summer break can be both exciting and challenging. Here are some tips to help you have a smooth transition:
1. Establish a Routine: Start getting back into a school routine a few days before the actual start date. Set regular bedtimes and wakeup times to adjust your sleep schedule and ensure you're well-rested.
2. Organize Supplies: Make a list of school supplies you need and get them ready in advance. Check out our comprehensive list on page 11 of useful items to have onhand. Check with your child's school specific requirements. Having everything organized will reduce stress on the first day.
3. Review and Preview: If possible, review some of your previous coursework to refresh your memory. Also, preview the upcoming subjects or topics you'll be studying to get a head start.
4. Talk About It: If you're feeling nervous or anxious, talk to your friends or family about

it. It's common to have mixed feelings about going back to school, and talking can help alleviate some concerns.
5. Visit the School: If you're starting at a new school or transitioning to a higher grade, visit the campus before the first day. Familiarizing yourself with the environment can ease anxiety. Some schools will schedule a new student orientation the week before.
6. Set Goals: Set realistic and achievable goals for the upcoming school year. Having clear objectives will give you a sense of direction and motivation.
7. Stay Positive: Embrace the new school year with a positive attitude. Focus on the opportunities and experiences it will bring rather than dwelling on any negative aspects.
8. Connect with Friends: Reconnect with old friends and make an effort to meet new people. Having a support system of friends can make the transition easier.
9. Time Management: As the school workload picks up, managing your time effectively becomes crucial. Use tools like planners or digital apps to keep track of assignments, deadlines, and extracurricular activities.
10. Stay Healthy: Maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. A healthy body and mind will make the transition smoother.
11. Communicate with Teachers: If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to reach out to your teachers. Building a good relationship with them can be beneficial throughout the school year.
12. Be Yourself: Embrace who you are and be confident in your abilities. Don't feel pressured to conform to others'

expectations; just be the best version of yourself.
13. Manage Stress: Find healthy ways to cope with stress, such as meditation, hobbies, or spending time with friends. It's natural to feel stressed at times, but having coping strategies will help you navigate through it.
14. Limit Screen Time: Minimize excessive screen time and focus on activities that promote learning and personal growth.
15. Have Fun: Finally, remember that school can be a fun and enriching experience. Engage in extracurricular activities, explore your interests, and make the most of opportunities.
By following these tips, you'll be better prepared for a smooth transition back to school. Remember that it's okay to take time to adjust, and with time, things will fall into place.

Summer is almost over and we are fully into Back-to-School season. No need to panic. I’ve put together an action plan to help you get ready and to ensure that your family will have a successful academic year.
Create or Refresh a Homework Station
The first thing I would start with is creating a space for your kids to do homework and unwind. I have some amazing tips for creating a homework caddy and creating a snack station for after school!
Set up a Command Center
Setting up a command center for all the papers and other items that come home is a great way to reduce extra “stuff” lying around the kitchen counters. I love the Pottery Barn system, (www.potterybarn.com/products/linenpinboard-collection/ ) but have used dollar store clipboards as well!
Post a Calendar
Digital calendars are great for keeping track
of all the details: the addresses, the notes, the directions for getting places. But it's also helpful to have the big events posted IRL, where everyone can see the shape of the week at a glance. Use a dry-erase board, a chalkboard or even index cards hung from a clothesline with clothespins. Use a different color marker or chalk for each member of the family.
Create a "home file" for the school year
Use a simple file box or a cabinet drawer. Each child has a file for each class with a color-coded file (https://a.co/d/ewfFDoP) for easy searching. Not only does this system give kids a place to unload past assignments, it also helps them organize reference materials (e.g., a periodic table of elements) as the semester changes.
Create a Morning Routine Schedule or Checklist
Back to school organization means planning for the mornings. School mornings are a hectic time of day in most households. And if you want to start your school days off with a minimum of
stress plan out a morning routine ahead of time. Ask yourself (and your family) these questions:
• What time will everyone get up?
• Do you need a shower schedule?
• What’s the plan for breakfast?
• Will your kids lay out clothes the night before? Or choose clothes in the morning?
Start talking about this now so that the first day of school doesn’t fall apart before it begins. Be flexible, if it isn't working by week two, change it up! If your child has trouble getting moving in the morning or staying focused, consider a visual schedule or checklist for them to complete. This can help your child feel organized and more importantly, minimize arguments or frustration between you and your kids.
Stock Up on School Supplies (by now you most likely have done this)
If you haven’t picked up all your supplies, try
looking at the some non-traditional places like the dollar store and your local pharmacy, they often are still well-stocked and inexpensive.
Organize the Backseat of Your Car
Replace all the items you need to have there for the school year: extra pens and pencils, snacks, wipes, etc. Breezing through the drop-off line is easy when kids can grab their toys, water cup or (let's face it) on-the-go breakfast from a stash in the car. To keep everything organized, try this backseat organizer for $28 AT AMAZON (https://a.co/d/8sKUpu4)
Refresh or Set up a First Aid Kit
Accidents happen, and sometimes at the most inopportune times. Be ready to handle one quickly by preparing a first-aid kit in advance. Fill it with things like alcohol wipes, band-aids and antibiotic ointment, so you can always stay on schedule.
Prepare for the First Day Photo Op
They might roll their eyes at you now, but you know that these are the moments you won't want to miss. Gather all the accessories

Send Kids Back to School with Soft, Delicious Sandwiches
Back-to-school season brings change to routines and often makes each day slightly more hectic, especially for families with little ones. This year, despite the hustle and bustle, you can make quick and easy lunches for your kids (and yourself) that are both simple and better for you. These sandwich suggestions can brighten busy school days with a taste of home.
Brighten your children’s day with a fun, colorful Caterpillar Sandwich inspired by the experts at Nature’s Own. This tasty snack calls for ham, lettuce, cheese, tomato, cucumber and fresh, soft, fluffy bread before using a cookie cutter to cut out sandwich rounds and shape them into a creepycrawly (yet delicious) “caterpillar.”
For an even simpler lunch you can enjoy at home, grab to go or send off with your little one to savor in the cafeteria, this Fluffernutter Sandwich calls for just three simple ingredients. Spread peanut butter and marshmallow fluff on two slices of bread then enjoy for a flavorful break from the office or classroom.
Both lunchtime favorites are made using Nature’s Own Butterbread, baked with a simple buttery flavor to take sandwiches to new heights. Plus, it’s made with no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors; no high fructose corn syrup; and 0 grams of trans fat. Find more inventive sandwich ideas at naturesownbread.com/recipes.

TRAVELS & Places to go
'Tis the Season to Plan: Holiday and Christmas Travels in August
While summer may still be in full swing, it's never too early to start planning your Christmas and Holiday travels. August is the perfect time to get a head start on your vacation, ensuring that you secure the best deals, availability, and experiences. From snowy wonderlands to sunny escapes, December offers a plethora of travel opportunities that promise to create cherished memories with your loved ones.
1. Decide on Your Dream Destination:
The holidays are a magical time of year, and choosing the right destination can elevate the holiday spirit to new heights. Whether you dream of a cozy cabin in the snowy mountains, a tropical beach getaway, or exploring historic Christmas markets in Europe, August is the time to finalize your destination and start planning the details.
2. Book Flights and Accommodation in Advance:
As the holiday season approaches, flight prices tend to rise, and popular accommodations get booked
quickly. Take advantage of August's early planning to secure the best deals on flights and reserve your preferred lodging options, whether it's a charming boutique hotel, a vacation rental, or a familyfriendly resort.
3. Embrace the Festive Spirit:
Many destinations embrace the Christmas spirit with dazzling light displays, festive decorations, and enchanting activities. Research events, parades, and holiday celebrations at your chosen location to ensure you don't miss out on any joyful experiences.
4. Create a Holiday/Christmas Itinerary:
Plan your Christmas itinerary carefully, considering the interests of everyone traveling with you. Include visits to local attractions, holiday-themed performances, Christmas markets, and any unique experiences the destination offers during the season.
5. Pack Thoughtfully:
Packing for a Winter trip requires a mix of cozy winter essentials and appropriate clothing for your chosen destination. Don't forget to pack warm layers, scarves, gloves, and hats for snowy locales, or light and breathable clothing for tropical getaways. Bring along a few holiday-themed outfits to embrace the festive spirit!
6. Take Advantage of Holiday Travel Packages: Many travel agencies and tour operators offer exclusive holiday travel packages in August. These packages often include special Christmas or Holiday experiences, pre-arranged itineraries, and discounts on activities. Look for deals that match your travel preferences and budget to make the most of your winter vacation.
7. Share the Joy with Loved Ones:
If you're traveling with family or friends, involve everyone in the planning process. Let each person contribute ideas to the itinerary and be a part of the decision-making. This not only creates excitement but also ensures that everyone's interests and preferences are considered.
August marks the beginning of the countdown to Christmas, and there's no better time to start planning your holiday travels. Whether you're seeking a traditional snowy Christmas or a tropical escape, early preparation ensures a stress-free and magical experience. Embrace the holiday spirit, plan thoughtfully, and get ready for a holiday vacation filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable adventures!
