PEDIATRIC PHYSICIANS. TWO HOSPITALS.
My love for planning the “perfect” party definitely comes from mom who can create a special occasion out of any scenario using items she already has on hand. Growing up, my childhood home hosted birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, engagement parties, weddings, baby showers, baking competitions, scavenger hunts, themed adult dinner parties and anything else you are thinking about. Most of our decorations and supplies were DIY projects made from repurposed and recycled items and the cakes were always home baked. We never had the means to hire any help, and it was all handson deck for the party setup and cleanup. My mom always had a creative approach to her party planning (she is an artist, so there’s that) and everything she did had a special personal connection to the person(s) being honored.
Fast forward to today, when all of those celebrations and experiences are coupled with
my own passion for simplifying and organizing, leading me to what I believe is the best party planning approach. Here’s what I know to be true---with some planning, you can make any party meaningful and fun without draining yourself.
Are you ready to party but overwhelmed by all the steps and details involved in the planning?
Whether you are thinking about an adult get together, a gameday sports watching party, or a full-blown kid’s birthday, there are a few things you can do to make it a success (and to take some of the pressure off of you!). Let’s start with the basic steps below, they may seem obvious and simple but I promise if you do these FIRST, and then follow my Amyzing Party Checklist, the rest of the details will fall into place.
• Establish a date for your party
• Determine why you’re throwing a party (the answer to this can help you plan for the
decorations and theme)
• Set a budget (use the guest list number to help you determine costs)
• Find a location (consider hosting it in your home, here’s a handy checklist for that as well)
Next, let’s break it down with some more detailed tasks and back them up using your party date. Organization is key when it comes to planning a party and the best way to get organized in planning a party with a detailed checklist. This can be used for ANY type of party and will help you from getting overwhelmed or forgetting something. You can email me amy@ amyzingspaces.com for your pdf version. Remember to ask for help and delegate as many of the tasks as possible. People love to help get ready for a party so let them!
One of the best things I learned from my mom is that you can always make something out of nothing and the most important thing about a
party is how you made people feel and I have learned that with some organized planning, you don’t have to be overwhelmed in the process. Remember to have fun yourself---it’s a party! Have fun celebrating, Amy

With my Iced Pumpkin Spiced Latte in hand, I am on a mission to help you get those Fall vibes and feelings.
If you live in Palm Beach County you know that isn’t always the case and it still feels like beach weather here. Maybe you are a transplant from up north and miss apple picking and pumpkin patches. (There is no apple picking here… or fall leaves).
Don’t break out the sweaters and boots just yet! However, here are some fun events and things to do with the kids during “Fall” in Florida.

The maiden and final voyage that still fascinates historians a century later is setting sail at the Cox Science Center & Aquarium! Starting October 12, the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is opening at the Center for guests to “board” the infamous ship. Guests will receive a replica boarding pass, assume the role of a passenger, and follow a journey through life on Titanic—from the ship’s construction, life on board and to its fateful sinking.
Exhibition guests will be drawn back in time to April 1912 when the ocean liner embarked on its final journey that made a lasting impact on maritime history and passenger safety. Upon opening, the exhibit will feature authentic artifacts recovered from the site of the renowned shipwreck for public viewing, including fine Filigree rings, champagne

bottles and the telegraph that communicated orders to the engine room.
“For decades, Titanic has captivated people in the real stories of heroism, love, fear, and impossible decisions during this tragic moment in time,” said Cox Science Center and Aquarium President and CEO, Kate Arrizza. “The exhibition displays the contemporary effort to recover artifacts, conserve the wreck site for scientific analysis and historical preservation
to ensure future generations can admire, contemplate and learn from Titanic.”

“Are We There Yet?” Guide to Traveling with Kids by Air, Land, and Sea
Traveling can be blissful, inspiring, and restorative. Traveling with kids – let’s face it – can be challenging. AAA travel advisors say with enough planning and creativity, traveling with kids can be successful, not stressful!
“Travel is an enriching and educational experience for children of all ages,” said Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of AAA Travel. “AAA is fortunate to have so many experienced travel advisors who know the ins and outs of family travel and can help AAA members plan memorable vacations.”
FLIGHTS Before You Go: When you’re purchasing airline tickets, AAA travel advisors say avoid buying basic economy if you’re traveling with kids. Basic fares come with restrictions and oftentimes that means no seat selection. If your family wants to
sit together, be sure to purchase at least regular economy, also known as main cabin. Download movies and shows on your mobile device ahead of time, in case there’s no WiFi onboard. Carry a backpack instead of a suitcase to free up your hands at the airport and during boarding and deplaning.
En Route: Seat children by the window, especially during takeoff and landing, so they can see what’s happening on the ground and in the sky. During the flight, keep kids entertained with snacks, stickers, coloring books, and small toys that don’t make noise (your fellow passengers will thank you!). Keep young children cozy with a sweater or sweatshirt that can double as a blanket. Bring an extra change of clothes for little ones who are prone to spills and accidents.
Kid-Friendly Destinations: International
travel is a special way to show children the world and spark their sense of adventure. Consider the Caribbean or Europe, and don’t forget to apply for your child’s passport well in advance. RushMyPassport helps expedite the process and AAA members get discounted rates. Aruba: Beautiful beaches and plenty of activities for kids
Greece: Historic sites and vibrant culture
ROAD TRIPS Before You Go: Map your route ahead of time with AAA’s free travel planner TripTik. You can look up gas stations, EV charging stations, rest areas, hotels, campgrounds, and restaurants. AAA travel advisors say if you’re planning to stay overnight at a hotel on your road trip, book your room in advance to guarantee lodging. Check your tire pressure, oil, and battery. Pack water, snacks, and an emergency kit complete with a flashlight, blanket, and phone charger.
En Route: Hit the road early in the morning, while the kids are still sleepy and will likely fall back asleep when they get in the car. When they wake up, play music and sing family karaoke. Or try this game: tell older children to add up the license plate numbers on passing cars and see who can do it the fastest. Keep score and whoever “wins” 10 license plates gets a prize, likely getting to choose where you stop for lunch!
Kid-Friendly Destinations: Pack up the car and head to U.S. National Parks or drive north to explore the wonders of Canada.
National Parks: Stunning scenery and wideopen space to roam and explore Nova Scotia: Ocean views, rolling landscapes, and outdoor activities
CRUISES Before You Go: Not all cruises are created equal! Some ships cater more to adults or couples, so be sure to do your homework. AAA travel advisors can point you in the right direction and help you book a family-friendly cruise that meets your budget and needs. Travel advisors can also make
sure you have connecting cabins if you’re traveling with a big family.
En Route: Once you’re on the ship, take advantage of kid-friendly activities on board, whether that’s the water park or movie theatre. One of the biggest perks is the kids club, where children can meet other kids, play games, and do arts and crafts while their parents enjoy themselves poolside or at the spa!
Kid-Friendly Destinations: Cruising is a great way for children to travel and see the world, while still getting to be playful and silly on the ship!
Alaska: Whale watching, glacier viewing, and adventurous shore excursions
Anywhere in the World: Venture outside your comfort zone and sail to Africa, Asia, or Australia!
Need more inspiration? AAA’s one-stop shop trip planning tool Trip Canvas lets you dream and search vacation destinations, AAA Diamond hotels and restaurants, and top trending tours and cruises.
