For tips on how to instill these values check out page 10. One of the things I am thankful for are my friends. I have a great group that are there for me when I need advice, a cup of coffee or just a hug. Why not host a Friendsgiving to show them how much they mean to you? Friendsgivings are typically hosted the week before or after Thanksgiving - learn how to throw one of your own on page 14. Community Cares New Toys, Gift Cards and Book Donations now being accepted for Children in the Foster Care system through Speak Up for Kids
In Palm Beach County there are nearly 1,600 children involved in dependency court proceedings, a situation that no child should have to face – especially not alone. There are nearly 300 children every year who still need a voice. These children need a GAL (Guardian Ad Litem) to speak up for their best interest. The Florida Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program in Palm Beach County is a partnership of community advocates and professional staff providing a powerful voice on behalf of Florida’s abused and neglected children. Guardian ad Litem Volunteers (GALs) are trained, court-appointed advocates for children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Speak Up for Kids is a not-for-profit organization whose sole purpose is to support the Guardian ad Litem program in

How to Host a Friendsgiving Feast As one of the most popular holiday traditions in the United States, families have celebrated Thanksgiving for decades. However, as more and more hosts look to put a new spin on the festivities, Friendsgiving continues to grow in popularity. While the two “holidays generally involve the same ideals - showing appreciation for loved ones, whether family or friends - cooking for both can be a challenge during this busy season. Consider these quick and easy ideas from the Friendsgiving experts at Sabra to celebrate this event with your closest friends. Decorations: Plenty of planning and

preparation goes into Thanksgiving festivities, which makes Friendsgiving an opportunity to take a step back and focus on simplicity. Keep your table decor clean and modern, like an understated blackand-white design, where food and fun can take center stage. If you are hosting Friendsgiving after Thanksgiving leave your decorations out and get double duty out of your efforts. Attire: Friendsgiving strikes a delicate balance between a reunion of companions and just an excuse to spend time with your closest cohorts, which can make a normally tricky decision even more difficult: what to wear. Try aiming for the more casual look, or try

something low-key and fun like a PJ party. Food: Because Friendsgiving is usually celebrated within a week or so of Thanksgiving, whether it’s before or after, most guests will be tired of turkey and stuffing - meaning it’s time to think outside the box. For just enough of a twist on traditional seasonal taste, try making plant-based versions of your childhood favorites. This Hummus Mashed Potatoes recipe is a perfect example - creating a dairy-free and gluten-free version of the classic dish that’s bursting with unexpected flavors. Alternately, if you’re hosting this year, these Sweet and Savory Cranberry Hummus Bites can hold over a hungry crowd. For another simple snacking solution, pairing a dip like Sabra Hummus, available in more than a dozen flavors,

Holiday Travel With Kids Traveling with kids anytime can be overwhelming, add in the holidays and that takes things to another level! While traveling during the busier months you must factor in, weather delays, traffic, illness and so much more! Here are a few travel tips to consider from lifestyle blogging maven and mom of three, Sharron Clear.
you’re heading home for the holidays, for example, your destination may be set in stone, but can you fly a few days early or, perhaps, on the actual holiday to save? Is it cheaper to fly into a nearby airport than the one in a major city? Considering all your options can save you money, but it can also save you the stress of holiday crowds.
Preplanning: Preplanning is essential. Research, research and research some more. Planning an itinerary for your trip can make traveling with your kids a bit easier!
Plan your Flights Around Bedtime: Try to plan your flights around bedtime. Evening flights are a bit more pricey, but it will make traveling a breeze while your child is fast asleep. If you’re in an unfamiliar airport be sure to book your connecting flight with a good amount of time. The last thing any parent needs is a mad dash through the airport with the added stress of potentially missing a flight.
Don’t Procrastinate: It may sound obvious, but starting early is the best way to get the flights you want for less, especially during the in-demand holiday season when there is little flexibility with dates. Be Flexible Try to be flexible wherever you can, whether it’s with your travel dates, departure and/ or arrival airport, or destination. If 18 November 2019 | PB Parenting |
Pack Lighter, Smarter, and Faster: The less you bring, the easier it is to pack, and the less you have to carry! If you find you’re missing something you need, you can always buy it at your destination. Most places you would travel with your kids will probably have the essentials you need to care for them. Talk to your Little Ones About The Adventure: If your child is new to flying or traveling in general, it’s important to have a conversation about it. Explain to them what is going on. When they have to fasten their
seatbelts make sure you tell them why. Most children enjoy flying, so the best thing to do is encourage them. About Sharron Clear: Sharron Clear is a self-made single mom of three whose story begins with southern roots and California dreams. Born in Tennessee, Clear was the youngest of four athletic girls and a self-professed “girly girl athlete” herself. With a love for fashion and an eye for trends, Clear always loved dressing up. In 2017, Clear began documenting her everyday #GirlBoss style on Instagram, growing an engaged audience of over 57,000 followers. Clear resigned in 2018 to focus full time on her personal brand, Array of Faces, and today on Instagram (@arrayoffaces) her followers turn to her everyday upbeat messages to get inspired themselves. Check out @arrayoffaces and arrayoffaces.com for style, beauty, travel, & lifestyle content for the #GirlBoss.
