INSPIRING DESIGNS DON’T ALWAYS START ON PAPER. It started as a competition among our teams of designers. In the end, the all-new 5 Series emerged looking like an animal ready to pounce. The cohesive rhythm of flame-like lines begins on the hood, hinting at the eight-speed automatic transmission awaiting your command. These lines continue along the wheelbase, which is the longest of its class, and then into the cabin where a world of innovations perfectly complements the finest 5 Series experience we’ve ever created.

FENUXE I’ve always been envious of friends who receive
gift cards for the holidays. It would be great to be given a piece of plastic useable on items from the neighborhood electronics store, hardware store or restaurant. Growing up, in my family, it was forbidden. My mother always expressed her complete disapproval of the thoughtlessness. “There’s no effort in a gift card!” This indirectly taught me a valuable lesson as time went on. It’s not about the receiving. It’s about the giving. When forced to seriously think about what you want to give your lover, friend or family you start understanding why we give gifts. You show your admiration, respect and thankfulness to the people in your life through gift giving. Picking out the perfect item shows you really take interest and care about their life and well-being. Here I thought she was just being a pain. This Thanksgiving be thankful for those you will soon have an opportunity to grace with gifts. Stumped? Check out our holiday gift guide on page 40 for some ideas. Happy Thanksgiving!

9th Annual Toy Party Get your festive red dress shirts and black velvet pinstripe jackets ready! FTKʼs Annual Toy Party is right around the corner. For the Kid in All of Us proudly presents the 9th Annual Toy Party & Silent Auction, Atlantaʼs premier holiday cocktail party and toy drive, on Sunday, December 4, 5:30-9pm. Each year, the annual toy drive is the mustattend party of the holidays, bringing together our entire diverse community. If you’ve ever attended this event in the past you know not only is it a festive and fun cocktail party, it is also for an incredible, crucial cause. Admittance to the party is one unwrapped new toy or gift card with a value of $25.00 or more. The toys are then collected by the thousands and donated to over twenty nonprofit organizations or agencies. These agencies then personally donate the toys to less fortunate children and families. This year’s benefiting agencies include: Agape Community Center, Aid Atlanta, All About Development Disability, Atlanta Children’s Shelter, CHRIS Kids, Community Welcome House, Cool Girls, Easter Seals Foundation of North Georgia, Hillside, Jerusalem House, Lutheran Services, Nicholas House, Our House. Safe Path Children’s Advocacy, Sheltering Arms, Youth Pride, Lithia Spings Elementary, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Malachi’s Storehouse, East Lake Foundation, No One Alone, Families First, Devereux Georgia, and Pride For Parents/ FCI Ministies.
For The Kid in All Of Us current president and 2011 Fenuxe 50 member, Christopher Bess, emphasized the increasing need for The Toy Party. “We are very much looking forward to this year’s event. This marks the 9th year for the Toy Party and Silent Auction, and we are hoping to make it our biggest and best year yet. The need in our community is greater this year than possibly any time in recent memory. We have partnered with 23 beneficiary organizations and we are counting on the continued support we have had over the past years to make the holiday season a bright and hopeful one for all the children we are working to serve.” For the Kid in All of Us has racked up quite a tally since starting in 2003. 31,500 toys and gift cards, 5,100 backpacks filled with school supplies, and over $450,000 has been donated to organizations serving Georgia’s less fortunate. We look forward to seeing you there!
Last year’s Toy Party was no different. Over 4000 attendees donated over 4,500 toys and gift cards. The silent auction also generated $37,000.00 for the different groups in need. If the items up for bid this year are any indication, the silent auction is sure to raise plenty of much needed cash. Some of the featured items available include a 5 night stay in Puerto Vallarta for twelve donated by No Mas Cantina, tickets to the Grammys for two, and a Le Cordon Bleu Paris Culinary Experience for two. The Toy Party will be returning to the same fabulous venue, AmericasMart 3. The venue is located downtown, just a few blocks south of W Atlanta Downtown, which will host the Official After Party presented by Chris Coleman Enterprises. 16 : NOVEMBER 17, 2011

Butterin’ You Up For The Butter Ball Chris Coleman Enterprises kicks off the holiday season with an awesome dance party taking place Thanksgiving Eve. The Butter Ball, presented by Guyspy.com, will be hosted at Club Life on Cheshire Bridge Road, Wednesday, November 23rd. This party marks the 8th year for the fabulous event, which will certainly bring an even bigger, butterylicious crowd than ever before. International DJ Manny Lehman will provide the beatz for this year’s Butter Ball. Lehman comes to Atlanta by way of Los Angeles where he has lent his talent to established artists such as Janet Jackson, Cher, Madonna, Sarah Brightman, and Lady Gaga in remixing singles for nightclubs, radio, and mass retail distribution. For more information on Lehman, check out our full interview on page 28. A vocal performance will also be on hand provided by up-and-coming singer starlet EvaFe as she presents her hit single “Oxygen”. You may recall her break-through performances during pride, this past October. More details on this spicy Latina singer can be found by searching EvaFe on Fenuxe.com. What’s a delicious Butter Ball without eye candy? Problem solved. Boy Next Door Menswear has partnered with CCE and 2(x) ist to bring you the latest 2012 Spring/Summer fashions during the Butter Ball with a hunky fashion runway show. 2(x)ist will even be flying down their sexy ass models from New York City for your enjoyment. What’s better than hot music and hotter men? The event also pairs as a birthday bash for DJ Scorpio, who will be celebrating 39 years young. DJ Scorpio and CCE have a longstanding collaboration, producing some of the best events for gay Atlanta nightlife. DJ Scorpio is thrilled about his birthday bash, “I am really looking forward to the “kick off” to the Holiday Season with Manny Lehman and the Butter Ball. I worked with Manny July

ARTvision Values
Meaningful gifts can be hard to find, but one Atlanta organization is offering an artful solution for those present-purchasing dilemmas. With art from both established and emerging artists up for grabs, ARTvision is hosting an evening of cocktails, food and music on December 1 at the Phillip Rush Center from 6PM to 9PM. Not only will this event offer unique gift opportunities, it also benefits Positive Impact, which provides essential services in metro Atlanta for those living with HIV. “ARTvision is a wonderful fit for Positive Impact because, as an agency that has provided comprehensive mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment and prevention services for people affected by HIV since 1993, we have incorporated art therapy over the years as a way of dealing with HIV,” said Michael Baker, director of advancement for Positive Impact and 2011 Fenuxe 50 Member. “Most recently we have used art therapy specifically for HIV and addiction recovery in our substance abuse treatment program. Creating art can be a very powerful form of therapy.” Because this is the first year ARTvision will be held in a public space and will take place on World AIDS Day, Baker said he is hoping for a record turn-out that will result in muchneeded funds for his organization. “While Positive Impact has been fortunate to receive valuable governmental grant support for its programs, they are only part of our overall budget, and those grants have begun to shrink certain line items,” Baker said. “Think of it as paying for someone to do something but not being able to pay for the rent, the phone, the paperwork associated with it. While many of our staff are covered to some degree under grants currently, we have to find funding to keep the lights on, so to speak.” Baker said the funds raised through ARTvision and other donor support are vital to Positive Impact because they help fill those gaps. “Fortunately, thanks to Will Pollock’s hard work and the dedication of the ARTvision artists, we have seen a tremendous level of support in the community for our work through ARTvision,” he said.

Gay Travel Triumph! Thanksgiving weekend, without a doubt, is the most traveled time of the year. This is the time we pack up our cars and more than likely reluctantly leave the city. We always get a special sinking feeling watching the highways descend from super freeways to small town state roads. Yep, time to head “home” for the holiday weekend. If youʼre lucky enough to fly off for an exotic and exceptional excursion during turkey-day-weekend, well, it comes with its own set of traveling complications. Being a member of the gay community may come with certain trek challenges, but itʼs not all doom and gloom. Let us help with a few vacationing tips to make your weekend triumphant! Keep It Real
I know, I know, you've worked so damn hard for your relationship. You two have finally gotten to the point where you're all moved in together and sharing each others surnames. Well, we all love your overly complicated hyphenated extravaganza, but for this weekend keep it simple for TSA. If you've registered under any name other than what is explicitly shown on your photo identification card expect some set backs. The travel industry happens to be very finicky about ensuring everyone is exactly who they say they are.
Look Before You Go
So, you are sitting around on Friday afternoon wishing for a cocktail, some dance music and a gay old time, but you have no idea how to get your fix. Now would not be the time to start searching “Gay bar Mobile Alabama” or “Homosexual establishment Augusta Georgia” on your sister's, father's, grandmother's mac. Please spare the drama and do your research before you head out of town. Print out addresses or directions and you will be good-to-go when the mood strikes.
Your Niece Doesn't Need to Know
Passcodes for mobile devices are a wondrous tool. They also keep your private life private if little Bethany wants to play angry birds without your permission. You aren't hiding or denying anything by keeping your phone locked. It will save you a headache in the long run.
Disconnect, Disconnect, Disconnect
There's something to be said about the quiet stillness while relaxing away from the grind. It's difficult to get away, but as humans we're just not made to be wired or wireless all the time. Your email, Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Grindr, Scruff, Edge, Jack'd, GuySpy, Adam4Adam, Downelink, Bender and GROWLr accounts can wait just a few days. Believe us, where you're going, you won't find that many people “on” in a 50 mile radius anyway.
It's Not About You
If by chance you are one of the lucky few who will be introducing your new significant other to your family this holiday, have some patience. Remember, this is a time for your family to see who you are and who you keep in your circle. Therefore, obviously, it's a learning experience for them, not you. Maintain your composure when questions like “who pays the check?” or “who holds the door?” are asked. If you keep your cool and answer all questions with brilliance hopefully by Sunday your mother will claim your new best friend as hers.

EATS: DINO’S DISH
words by Dino Thompson-Sarmiento
Turkeys, Pilgrims, and Family Oh My! Itʼs that time of year again when you are paying premium bucks to fly coach in a crowded plane, get to sit next to kooky great aunt Vera for a 4 hour dinner and then get questioned the remainder of the evening about your single status by your married kin and told not drink anymore by dear mother. Welcome to the LGBT Thanksgiving we have all endured at one time or another. I know many of us are fortunate to have accepting families and friends but there are still some in our LGBT community who do not share this luck. What is on their/your agenda turkey-night? Who will they/you spend Thanksgiving with? Maybe they/you don’t want to cook… Maybe they/you just want to enjoy some great drinks and the company of friends… What to do? Dean Chronopoulos, owner of ROXX Tavern & Diner, has come to the rescue this year. I chatted with Dean about his LGBT friendly restaurant and why he is opening his doors this Thanksgiving. Dino: Dean how did your restaurant become one of Atlanta’s LGBT favorites? Dean: Since day one it was embraced by the LGBT community because we encouraged folks to be themselves. It is a safe and welcoming place and has been for the last eleven years. Dino: What is on the menu?
24 : NOVEMBER 17, 2011
Dean: It is comfort food; American cuisine with international flair, high quality ingredients and always great. Dino: Why are you opening this Thanksgiving? Dean: Our clients requested it and I listened. It is a place many call “home” throughout the year and it just made sense that we open our doors on a night when you are suppose to be “home”. Dino: What will ROXX Tavern & Diner be serving that day? Dean: It is a limited menu but it is well rounded including a Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings. You can add a salad and dessert for a full 3 course meal – only $19.95. We will also have pork chops, fish & chips, salmon, shrimp, steak and more. The full service bar will also be opened serving your favorite cocktails, beer and wine.

Manny Lehman
International Superstar DJ/Producer Manny Lehman headlines at The Eighth Annual Butter Ball. Once again, Chris Coleman Enterprises delivers the best for the Atlanta party scene. This time he features the exceptional DJ Manny Lehman who is noted as one of top DJs around the world. We got a chance to chat with Manny about his enchanted life and the upcoming visit to Atlanta. Fenuxe: Manny, where are you from originally? Lehman: I am Puerto Rican – American from the Bronx, New York. Currently, I live in Los Angeles. Fenuxe: When and how did you get into the music industry? Lehman: It was my hobby in the 80’s and I was inspired by the legendary DJ’s of time. I hung out at Studio 54 and other notable clubs in NYC and I knew this was my path. In the late 80’s I started to DJ and it took off and I ended up playing my music nationwide including the White Party in California. Fenuxe: Tell me about one of your best memories? Lehman: The first time I got a crowd to jump in unison with their hands in the air- what a high! It was like I caught the dragon, I was hooked. There were so many moments like that including the Black and Blue Party in Montreal. Fenuxe: Tell us about your connection with Cher, CeCe Peniston, Madonna, and Lady Gaga Lehman: In the early 90’s I worked as an executive for A&M records. I actually signed CeCe Peniston and the first song we worked on “Finally” shot to the top of the charts. I have also worked with Madonna, Cher, Beyonce, Brandy and Lady Gaga on remixes. Fenuxe: When did you first begin working with Chris Coleman? Lehman: I have been working with Chris about 7 or 8 years now. The first party was at Club 1150. l remember it being an excellent time with great energy. Fenuxe: What Atlanta venues do you remember as the best? Lehman: Definitely the pre-Thanksgiving 28 : NOVEMBER 17, 2011
parties at 1150 with Chris and also being at the Fox for PRIDE. Fenuxe: Plans for 2012? Lehman: Keep my brand going, stay on the edge, be current, relevant… Music changes and I want to stay with it. In a fast moving industry I’m extremely lucky to be in demand. I am humbled. Thank you to the powers that be. Fenuxe: One last question for all your fans, are you single? Lehman: (Laughter) Let’s just say it is Complicated Flux Folks get your tickets now for the Eighth Annual Butter Ball by Chris Coleman Enterprises with sexy DJ Manny Lehman; also featured that night is the 2xist Spring/Summer Fashion Show, DJ Scorpio Birthday Bash and vocal performance by EVAFE. 10PM – 3AM, November 23 at CLUB LIFE, 1789 Cheshire Bridge Road.

words by Dino Thompson- Sarmiento
The Gay Swan Anna Pavlova, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Princess Caroline of Monaco, The Nutcracker and tutus were the first and only thoughts that came to mind when I thought about the ballet. Along came friend Brian Wallenberg, former ballet dancer and current social media coordinator/ video production lead for The Atlanta Ballet Company. His passion as he spoke about the ballet intrigued me. His eyes seem glazed and I could sense the joy in his soul as he described with great detail his life as a dancer. I was hooked and wanted to know more about this near naked dance world I knew nothing about. After watching The Black Swan with Natalie Portman, I knew there was a story here and Brian agreed to open up and share his world with Fenuxe readers. Dino: Brian, where are you from? Wallenberg: I was born in Ohio but raised in Texas. Dino: When and why did you get in to dance? Wallenberg: I started late at 16 in Texas. I loved musical theatre. I took my first dance class and I fell in love with it. My instructors thought I had natural talent hence I pursued my dream. Dino: When did you come to Atlanta? Wallenberg: In 1998 I became part of the Atlanta Ballet Company. Dino: Let’s chat a bit about your sexuality…when did you know you were gay? Wallenberg: I always knew I was gay even before I knew the term or what it meant. I came out at 17 but my first sexual experience wasn’t until I was 19. Coming out was the best thing for me because before then I hid my personality. Dino: Are there many gay men in ballet as we assume in the general public? Wallenberg: Not at all, I would say 80% to 90% of male ballet dancers are straight.
Wallenberg: First, you have to realize that ballet dancers are starring into a mirror all day. One is very aware of body image. You are also wearing tight clothes and always striving to be perfect and being compared to other dancers. There is a lot of pressure and in some cases unfortunately eating disorders are a fact especially for women who feel that they need to be a certain weight and size to fit a roll.
Dino: Did you have issues with the straight dancers?
Dino: What about drug abuse?
Wallenberg: No, the men are comfortable with their own sexuality and I have always felt welcome and part of the team.
Wallenberg: Drugs were prevalent in the 70’s and 80’s as was smoking cigarettes. Times have changed and even the smoking is way down. Cigarettes were used to curb hunger and as a substitute to snacking.
Dino: Is it true what you hear regarding eating disorders within the ballet world? 48 : NOVEMBER 17, 2011
Dino: What have been some of your challenges as a ballet dancer?
Wallenberg: Always striving to be perfect, to be content with the dancer that I am rather than what I wanted to be.
Dino: I know this is a silly question but many folks are curious as to what you wear under your ballet outfit?
Dino: Did you ever feel less “manly” as a ballet dancer?
Wallenberg: (Laughter) it is called a “Dance Belt”, like a thong with a pouch and elastic band.
Wallenberg: I have always been comfortable with my masculinity – No one has ever made feel anything different. Dino: I understand that the hours of a dancer are tough, what is your schedule like? Wallenberg: Yes they are, 40 hour weeks up to 50 hours per week during performances. Sometimes it is hard to have a social life. Dino: How is your dating life? Wallenberg: It is interesting. I think gay men have a hard time because they miss out on dating in high school. So the 20’s become the learning curve. I think we are behind on learning how to date. Dino: What are your thoughts on casual sex? Wallenberg: I think it is fine. It’s enjoyable. I hope people are safe, smart and respectful to each other. Be honest with others about your status and STDs.
Dino: Any advice for our readers? Wallenberg: Get to know yourself and respect those around you. Be kind. Be true to who you are. It does get better. I am much happier now than before coming out. I would never take a “straight” pill. I love who I am. My heart goes out to those who have been thrown out, go to a safe place. I had the chance to go to the ballet a couple of weeks ago and I was moved watching the body beautiful literally make art on stage. This is a perfect date night to impress that special someone. The Nutcracker opens December 8. Their new season starts February of 2012. The Atlanta Ballet Company was formed in 1929 and is the oldest continuing ballet company in the US. The company is moving forward into contemporary dance; the new cutting edge choreography is sure to dazzle you and your date. Dear Mary,
askMARY
I know our community can sometimes be a little superficial so I am really in the dark over my predicament. See, I’ve been dating a really sweet man for about 8 months. This will be our first holiday season to spend together. Early on he told me he doesn’t really think much of the holidays and he wants to keep gift giving to a minimum, a $50 cap to be exact. Um, I don’t want to sound selfish, but I mean really, what could you give for 50 bucks? Let me be real when I say I was totally willing to spend three times that amount on him. How do I tell him he needs to get real and up his bucks? Signed,
Ready to dole out the dough
50 : NOVEMBER 17, 2011
Dearest dough boy,
Hmm, sounds like a test to me. Obviously, you should go whole hog. Willing to spend three times that, eh? I say spend five times that... No, wait, ten times. Fifteen! Get a second mortgage! Lavish him with diamonds! Prove your love with expensive gifts(aka, the only way to show love). I’m positive that’s what he really wants because I’m positive that’s what everyone really wants deep down - lots and lots of overpriced, material crap. If we have somehow fallen into an alternate universe and he really does get you a $50... wh... what can you get for $50? Geez. You’re right... But if he really only spends that, you might have just figured out your relationship isn’t meant to be. I mean come on... you’re writing in to a magazine because you want your boyfriend to be more materialistic, so it must be important to you. Maybe you’re a bit of a stuff-obsessed consumerist, but if that’s who you are, own it!

Oh dear God the holiday shopping season is right around the corner. For many gays this is a time of great jubilation, as if you needed any more reason to go to Lenox Mall. So now you set out, to find gifts for all your friends, friend’s friends, acquaintances and maybe a little something for yourself. For the rest of us this is a time of intense stress which will surely end in an over-the-limit fee. But who are you, a shopaholic or a shopavoider? Take this simple quiz to find out. 1. When do you start planning your holiday shopping? A. I like to do my shopping last minute. The prices are so discounted at the very end. B. I have a systematic approach to shopping that involves a two week period in early December. C. For what year? I’ve got 2011 squared away. Do you know where I can get a good deal on a flat iron for my sister’s 2012 gift? 2. You hear about a huge deal on Keurig Coffee Makers, you? A. Keurig is the biggest hoax since the personal panini press. I wouldn’t wish that mess on any of my gift receivers. B. Deals come and go pretty often during the holidays. No need to rush. C. Stock up, duh! Buy the store out. If I can’t give em away I’ll find a use for them around the house. 3. How do you plan on paying for your holiday shopping? A. Cold. Hard. Cash. And very little at that. B. Ugh, is it already time to pull out the holiday Visa again? C. Do they take a Mastercard? What about an American Express? No, wait, don’t use that one. It’s maxed. How about Diner’s Club Card?
5. Do you give gift cards as presents? A. Mom and dad will love their $10 iTunes gift card. So will granny... Does she even have an iPod? B. Gift cards make great stocking-stuffers! C. There is NO thought behind a gift card. I would much rather painstakingly search for the perfect gift in the perfect size of the perfect color!

Find Out If You Are A Holiday Shopaholic
4. You are given a wish list by your hubby in mid to late December, you? A. Tough luck sister, I’m stickin’ to my plan. Everyone’s getting charitable donations in their name. B. I’ll take a look at the list and maybe consider some exchanges. C. Well, I mean, I spent a fortune already, but what’s a few more presents! The more the merrier, right?
1 – 9 points: You’re the grinch. Listen, no one is asking you to be fat and jolly but would it kill you to show a little more holiday spirit? 10 – 20 points: Right on target. You budget for the holidays and you’re proud of it. Keep up the good work. Maintaining healthy holiday habits equate to happy gift receivers for many years to come. 21 – 25 points: Seriously, is it about the gift giving or the credit card spending? During the month of December you may want to steer clear of shopping centers. You’ve got a holiday shopaholic problem.

HEy Girl HEy Pull out the cornucopias y’all, the holidays are here! Hope you’re keeping those buns warm! It’s funny how much I really get into the holidays. Anyone who knows me can tell you it’s my favorite time of year. And what’s the most important part of this time of year? The wish lists! Hmmmm, now what does Mary Edith want? Number One: A drag slave who will be at my beck and call, clean up my drag, do my housework, tote my bags, and provide a daily massage with happy ending. In lieu of wages, slave may play in my drag. Please send your application along with a nude photo (required) to maryedith99@gmail.com [photo does not have to be of you, can be of your hot friend, dog or grandmother; however, must still be nude] Number Two: A dragmobile… Preferably a Cadillac Eldorado recently bashed upside a Dairy Queen or 70’s era Pinto blow-about. You know--just something stylin’ and profilin’! Number Three: A featured role in a movie or television show… or porn! You know something really ‘big’ like “Da Real Drag Queens of Atlanta” or “Female Trouble Too.” Porn would
only suffice if my legitimate acting career didn’t take off. I could do “Missionary Impossible”, “Sluts in the City” or “Honey I Blew Everyone.” Number Four: A beautiful new mobile home (double wide, triple high) preferably with an underpinning so as not to look cheap. This way I could move locations every time a tornado swept through. Number Five: A day of beauty at the local “Spa de la Beauty” in the back of the Auto Repair Shop. I’d be real excited to let them use that new auto grinder on my hoofs and face—bet it would get me real smooth. I heard they also have bikini waxing available which could be helpful if my adult film roles take off. In all seriousness, I hope everyone has a great holiday season. The best present you could give me is by supporting my good friend Richy Pugh’s Toy Drive on behalf of the 80+ children of Jerusalem House. If you can donate a new toy or gift card, it would make a big difference on Christmas morning. On Facebook, you can search for “Jerusalem House Toy Drive” for more information. Thank you for supporting our kids! Love and lashes,
Mary Edith Pitts Please send questions or feedback to maryedith99@gmail.com.
