It can be overwhelming. The moment — enraptured with beauty, fixated on a newly designed exterior that boasts articulate lines and athletic prowess. FENUXE YES, I’M THE guy. Originally from the Deep South, who carelessly proclaimed Atlanta’s summers aren’t nearly as hot as the coastal region’s. Oh, how foolish I was! These recent sweltering temperatures go well beyond simply competing with the heat from our southern neighbors. This recent summer was hot, uncomfortably, unruly hot. After months of compromising all fashionable intentions by shedding down to simple slacks and knit polos I am excited to say “bring on the fall temperatures”. Finally it’s time to pull out the thin layers, spicier fragrances, and robust hues. Welcome to Fenuxe Magazine’s quarterly fashion installment. Join us as we explore not only the apparel we wear, but also the beverages we drink and the activities we enjoy. Why not celebrate this change of season? After all, Atlanta is home to the prettiest fall foliage of any city!

words by Michael Vorndran
Cha-Cha-Changes AS THE FOLIAGE begins to change from green to a cornucopia of oranges, reds and yellows and our own natural sun-lit bronze turns into spray tan orange we all need to get ready to face the change. Check out the five things youʼll want to change for fall.
Hues
People often think fall fashion must be drab with only touches of autumnal tones used as an accent. The truth, though, is people can wear lively hues all year round, they just need to be the proper ones. This fall try dabbing your wardrobe in deep teal, cedar and burnt sienna. They are tonal cousins to some of the summer classics, but they fit perfectly for fall.
Scents
Summer cologne should bring thoughts of pools, boys in tight trunks and frozen libations. Autumn scents should make a person think of raking leaves, boys in tight sweaters and spiked spiced cider. One breath of Angel B*Men from Thierry Mugler makes you feel you are sitting on a deck of a lake house with the pleasant aroma of autumn engulfing you.
Spirits
Say bye-bye to the refreshing Cherry Mango Splash on the patio at Joe’s. And say hello to something that soothes your soul and primes you’re your heart for the impending cooler seasons. Try an Apple Fluff with a splash of Smirnoff Fluffed Marshmallow Flavored Vodka (coming in October to a bar near you). Yum!
Shades
When it comes to cool shades; summer is the season for sleek wrap-arounds. Fall is a season which demands more fashionably forward fare for your face. That means you will say ta-ta to the thin metal frames and hello to chucky plastic frames in a variety of shapes. One of our fav shades for the fall are the Turismo Wayfarers by Persol.
Kicks
Time to ditch the worn-out, styro-plastirubber flip-flops you have been wearing for the last ninety-four days straight. For casual events replace the flops with Puma Clydes designed by Undefeated. It is the perfect fashion understatement. For more dressy affairs, slip on Steve Madden’s Banelli. It is a non-trendy update of a classic design.

DRESS CODES - DECODED HAVE YOU EVER confused casual for business casual by wearing Keds when everyone else is wearing fashionably correct footwear? Worn a tux when everyone else is dressed in a suit? Donʼt worry, weʼve all been there. Fenuxe has gathered the intel on what to wear and when to wear it. Let us help you avoid fashion misdemeanors and set you on the right path to the “gay” and narrow.
BLACK TIE
When an invitation says black tie you have very little wiggle room. This means you need to wear a tux, white dress shirt, black tie, cummerbund or vest, and patent leather shoes. The only room you have to be “creative” would be with the cut and style. Don’t dare mess with this dress code.
BLACK TIE OPTIONAL
This is one of the most confusing codes because it often leads people think black tie optional is a chance to dress down. But really black tie optional means you don’t have to wear a tux. A suit and tie are still required. Night events will scream for a sexy dark gray suit while daytime allows for lighter colors and brown shoes.
COCKTAIL ATTIRE
When gay boys think of cocktail attire they think about wearing their best slutty shirt and ass showcasing jeans. But the truth is, cocktail attire for the rest of the world is a little more sophisticated than tight shirts and jeans. We suggest a form fitting button down paired with perfectly tailored flat front pants and classic dress shoes. If you feel like adding a fashionforward tie no one will complain.
BUSINESS CASUAL
This is the one of those codes that gets people in trouble all the time. Somehow people only hear the word “casual” and show up to a party wearing Abercrombie and their most comfortable pair of sneakers. But really the important word in this dress code is business. You can ditch the button down and go with a nice v-neck pullover under a stylish sport coat or casual jacket.
CASUAL
Finally, a party that allows for a little more freedom of expression. But be careful how far you go with it. You are still a guest at someone else’s party. Grab a pair of designer jeans, a fabulous thin-knit sweater and some cute shoes. You’ll be good to go. Try to avoid sneakers unless the party is on a tennis court or treadmill. 18 : FENUXE.COM

Year the wristwatch was created by Patek Phillipe.
Fashion dates back as far as the Neanderthal age when the first caveman hid his privates behind a crudely fashioned loin cloth. He probably didn’t think about how the cloth looked or if it brought out the color in his eyes. Luckily for all of us, fashion has come a long way. Check out a few fun facts from then and now.

school I would design my own clothes for the weekends. Eventually, I started helping my friends with outfits too. One night someone asked me where I had purchased the shirt I was wearing. I told them that I had designed and made it myself. He happened to own a store and he began selling my clothes. I realized then that I could make a living doing something I loved so I decided to study fashion. The rest is history.

Fenuxe: You received international fame for your underwear and bathing suit collection, why?
THE FIRST HINTS of cooler weather are caressing the Southeast and we will soon be trading in our colorful bathing suits for hip fall wear. Andrew Christian, famed clothing designer and fashion guru shares his fashion sense with Fenuxe readers. Fenuxe: Andrew tell us about yourself, where are you from and how did you get in to the business? Andrew: I’m originally from Fresno, California, but I currently live in Los Angeles. When I was a teenager in high 26 : FENUXE.COM
Andrew: I think I tapped in to a part of the market that had not yet been developed. It was the “Functional Underwear” that began the revolution. They provided a butt-lifting effect that a million squats could not provide and of course the frontal enhancement also gained wide spread acclaim. These garments were a first for the male consumer. Fenuxe: What are your must haves for this season? Andrew: Everything in the “Almost Naked Collection”, the “Almost Naked Infinity Collection” for late summer early fall and the NanoFit Collection. The Almost Naked Collection is made from super ultra soft material, bamboo fibers to be exact. The Almost Naked Infinity is made from organic cotton. The NanoFit is a smaller fitting brief. You can measure around four inches between your belly button and the start of the fabric. It feels great and looks even better. Fenuxe: What designers have earned your respect?
Andrew: Definitely Alexander McQueen, he was more than fashion. His design work was art. Another notable designer who has captured my attention is Karl Lagerfeld, he is always on point. Fenuxe: What inspires you to design? Andrew: My underwear line inspires my sportswear line and vice versa. My own personal needs for product and the feedback I get from customers inspires me. I listen to their needs carefully and design to cater to their desires. Fenuxe: What colors are “in” for fall? Andrew: It is a muted color pallet. Earth tones with burgundy, grey and metallic for foil printing. Fenuxe: Where can we find great shoes and accessories?
Andrew: Visit my West Hollywood store. I will dress you from head to toe! Fenuxe: One last question from our staff; you have some of the sexiest models in the country in your photo shoots – what is it like to work with them? Andrew: It can be challenging. Some models are tough to work with. Then you get some that are great! You are always going to encounter difficulties in this industry but I stay focused. I have become immune to the hotness factor; it really is about the work and producing a good look for the line. Andrew Christian has moved front and center by listening to the needs of his customers, using the best in fabrics and keeping the sexy factor alive. Check out his collection at andrewchristian.com FENUXE.COM : 27

THEATER
A TREE GROWS IN ATLANTA IMAGINE RIFLING AROUND in your late fatherʼs belongings to find you have a half brother. Then imagine your surprise when you traipse halfway across the country only to find out that he is a different race. Youʼd probably think the story would make a great movie or play. Playwright Julie Hebert has beaten you to the punch and delivers this particular tale in a play called Tree. The best part: the play will be performed locally by Horizon Theater Company starting September 16. Tree follows Didi, a white professor from the bayous of Baton Rouge, who travels to Chicago after finding a stash of letters which reveal the fact she has a half-brother named Leo. When she meets Leo in the windy city she finds out that he is African-American. Together they confront the truth of their parents’ hidden affair. The story dives into what it means to be a family even if your family is new to you. Hebert explains it best: “In my family (and the one in this play), we have profound differences in our belief systems, our politics, our ways of life…and yet we find a way to sit at the same table. We keep each other honest. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes painful – and so it is with this play.” Horizon’s Co-Artistic/Producing Director, Lisa Adler will direct a cast of well-known Atlanta actors including Donna Briscoe, Geoffrey Williams and Megan Hayes. Tree will also mark the professional stage debut of recent Spelman grad JJ Price. Adler says, “The play is a mystery, a ghost story and a family drama with plenty of humor that bridges generations and cultures.” Atlantans should be proud that Horizon calls our city home because they continually produce plays relevant to all of our communities. Tree makes you laugh a little, cry a little and think a lot. The story is easily relatable to anyone with a family full of diversity.

askMARY Dear Facebook Foe:
Dear Mary, I am addicted to Facebook. That being said, I NEVER post depressing updates. If my dog died, I lost my job and Lady Gaga told me I was fat I would still have a positive or entertaining status update. I have a person on my Facebook page who I notice posts the most depressing updates. He is a good-looking person who people want to be around. I think it just makes him look like a loser when he makes these Debbie-Downer posts. If I read, “I’m so lonely,” or “why doesn’t anyone call me,” again I’m going to blow my weave. Do you think this is depression or a cry for some “daddy” attention? Socially Yours,
Anti-Loserface.com
Oh, for the love of all things good and glittery, tell them to buck up (or shut the buck up, whichever is more your personal style, bb). I don’t think it’s depression, I do think it’s a cry for attention, and I don’t think you need to be supportive. Tell them to grow up and handle their problems in a more mature way than plastering them on Facebook, like bottling them up deep inside, or, if that doesn’t work, bottling them up in a bottle of booze. Of course, you’re going to lose a few friends this way. I say this from personal experience. Shockingly, I sometimes have a hard time keeping my mouth shut, so I devised a new method of dealing with Facebook bullshittery. I now distract myself from maudlin (slash political) Facebook posts thusly: “Oh well, I don’t think I agree with what they’ve posted and maybe I should just mention that I thi…HERE COME DE HOTSTEPPA, murder-uh” See what I did there? With the gift of song (early 90s hip hop, to be exact), I saved myself from losing a friend, albeit a friend who posts (and probably gets drunk and talks) about their own problems exclusively, to the point that we can’t get back to a more interesting topic of conversation. Like me, and my problems, which are altogether different and deserve to be talked about at great length. Un-friend Your Heart,

Are You Creamy or Crunchy? Crunchy: [kruhn-chee] A person who looks like they are dressed
in clothes that have spent more time on the floor than on a hanger or washing machine. Creamy: [kree-mee] A person who can walk through a sandstorm, windstorm or thunderstorm and come out with perfect hair, neatly pressed pants and clean shoes. Which one are you?
A. At my feet. B. In my dresser or closet. C. I don’t look for clothes. The clothing looks for me. They just appear to me as if sent from a fairy godmother.
2. The last time I used my iron was to…
A. Make a grilled cheese sandwich because my George Foreman grill broke. B. Press my favorite shirt to wear for the third time…you can wear it three times between washing right? C. Iron? I don’t own an iron. My clothes know better than to get a wrinkle.
3. If I spilled coffee on my shirt while driving to work I would…
A. Casually wipe it off with the McMuffin wrapper and go about my day. B. Screech like a ninny, slam on my breaks and feverishly try to remove the stain. C. Don’t think twice about it because I am magically adverse to stains. Some people call me Scotch for short…as in Scotchgard.
4. When I find the pants I want to wear to a party and they are wrinkled and dirty I will… A. Spray them with cologne, err, Fabreze and wear them to the party anyway. B. Iron them as quickly as possible and hope they don’t smell. C. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA, um, that will never happen.
5. At the end of the day you look as if you…
A. Spent the day rolling around the floor of Blake’s after a Sunday funday. B. Spent the day living a normal life, messy hair, crinkled clothes and shiny face. C. Spent the day in a climate controlled bubble, my hair is perfect, my clothes are still immaculately pressed and somehow my breath smells like fresh mint.

HEy Girl HEy I’m so excited to share with everyone that as of this writing, we have raised $11,166 for my 21st Birthday fundraiser held on August 20th. This was my favorite birthday and show by far! First and foremost, I want to thank Tyler & William and the rest of the team at Fenuxe Magazine for sponsoring this event. I could not have done it without your support and encouragement! Thank you to my other sponsors, Rokk Vodka, Blake’s on the Park & Brushstrokes who support me in all my fundraising efforts. Thank you to all the entertainers who took time out of their busy schedules to put on such a fabulous show. Each entertainer gave all of their tips to Jerusalem House and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate their contributions. Thank you Ashley Kruiz, Regina Ryan, Coco Couture, Regina Cartier, Monica Mitchells, Gunza Blazin and Pandora Boxx. By the way, Pandora was not only a funny entertainer; she was as nice in person as she appeared on TV. It was so nice to meet someone so unaffected by fame. I’d like to also thank everyone behind the scenes who made the event a success. Thank
you DJ Bill Berdeaux, Shane Garner, Shane Whatley, Matthew Doyal, Richy Pugh, Rich Billings, Scott Kimbler, Cody Byrd, Calisto, Matt Hennie and Project Q Atlanta, Malcolm from Fenuxe, Richard at The Boy Next Door, Joe’s on Juniper, and Thomas Frese, Brad Wlliams & Mike Muzer at Jungle Nightclub. Thank you, Charlie Frew and Alex Wan and the rest of my Jerusalem House family for your support and belief in me. I am so proud to work with an organization where .91 of every dollar raised goes to program services. Finally, to each and every one of you who continue to support me in all my endeavors: Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Words cannot adequately express how much I love you and appreciate you. It felt like the whole community came out to support this event and for that I am grateful. I’m already looking forward to next year’s celebration. Until next time, Love and lashes

Pride Kick-Off Party
Dance with the Fish
words by Michael Vorndran
The Atlanta Pride starts off this year with Official Pride Kick-Off Party at the Georgia Aquarium on October 7th. Grab your tickets as soon as you can as each year it is a sold out event. This year promises to be a delectable night of dancing and drag queens. Dance beats will be provided by DJ Corey Craig, in his southeast live debut, and sexy hot DJay McKracken. VIPS will be able to shante their way into Jujebee’s Lounge where the “RuPaul Drag U” Professor will be hosting a meet and greet. Fenuxe sat down with two of the night’s performers to chat about what we can expect.
DJ Corey Craig Fenuxe: Tell us about your involvement with the Atlanta Pride Kick-Off party.
Fenuxe: What is the favorite remix you have ever done?
Corey: I am the headlining DJ for the event. Incidentally, this party is my live DEBUT in the southeast (yay!). The podcasts have been floating around out there for years, now I finally get to serve the beats in person.
Corey: Early in my career, I was known for very quirky yet catchy mashups. I won’t call them remixes but they helped me grow… DJ/ Producer Saul Ruiz and I are “R2C2” and we worked on a spec remix of Robyn’s – “Indestructible”. I still proudly play that one and love the response.
Fenuxe: For people who don’t know, what kind of music do you spin? Corey: It’s hard for me to nail or label my sound, but I’ve been described as “Post Circuit” or “Nu Circuit”. The styles I feature include Progressive House, Electro-Pop, Handbag Disco, Tech House, Remixed and updated classics. They all somehow congeal and help me stand out. Don’t be scared, I love a good catchy pop remix and plenty are throughout my set. Fun… familiar, yet fresh.
Fenuxe: What are you listening to these days? Corey: Adele, Beth Ditto, (non rap) Kelly Rowland, Katy B, Black Cards, Robyn, Florence and the Machine, Oh Land, Beyonce, Avicii Fenuxe: Any music we should be listening to, but are not? Corey: I think the industry is returning to actual stunning vocals that have very little touchup. Check out Katy B (when she hits stateside), Black Cards, Natalia Kills, Dionne Bromfield (Amy Winehouse’s god daughter… spooky vocal resemblance). Fenuxe: What music do we need to stop listening to? Corey: Anything involving overused samples, auto-tune turned all the way up, sexist, homophobic artists, oh and that “cats and hammers in the dryer with boots” dance sound… No more pots and pans… the kitchen is closed… The real party is in the living room and later the bedroom.
70 : FENUXE.COM
Jujubee Fenuxe: Tell us about the Pride Kick-Off party. Jujubee: I am going to be hosting the VIP lounge area and they are calling it “Jujubee’s Lounge”, there will be food, and open bar. I will be hosting a meet and greet after I perform in the main event. Fenuxe: How did you get involved with Atlanta Pride? Jujubee: They brought it up to me and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I mean I love pride. Who doesn’t love a good pride? I have never been to Atlanta and of course I have a few sisters there. There's Mariah, there's Nicole and there's Phoenix. I am really excited to see them if they are around!
Fenuxe: What’s next for you? Jujubee: I have been working on some music for a while. I haven’t found anything satisfying for me yet. I don’t want to release anything that is going to sound too robotic or too rushed. Fenuxe: Do you play instruments? Jujubee: Not anymore. What’s funny is I used to play the clarinet, but I thought it was the dorkiest thing so I gave it up. Fenuxe: You can work that into your routine. You can be the clarinet playing drag queen. Jujubee: And then I will learn how to juggle too and we can call it the Jujubee circus. (Laughs) That would be so hilarious. For Tickets to the Pride Kickoff, visit www.atlantapride.org
Fenuxe: Do you keep in touch with them? Jujubee: I do, I do. We don’t get to talk as often as I’d like to. Everyone’s schedule is pretty crazy, but it’s always nice to see each other because we have grown. We have all pretty much blossomed so it is always nice to see where we’ve been and to catch up and stuff like that. Fenuxe: How has your life changed since the show? Jujubee: It is a lot different than it was before and it’s more than I ever wanted. You know I always knew I wanted to do something that involved performance and drag and all that, but I didn’t know it would be to this magnitude. I mean, RuPaul’s Drag Race really made it for us. So, thank you RuPaul! Fenuxe: Did you start doing drag at a young age or were you more of a late bloomer? Jujubee: I started doing drag when I was about 18. And it was because I had this love for the stage. I always wanted to be an actor. I was always in theater. Drag was just the easiest thing to grasp onto because at that time I was in college. My studies were really, really crazy and I couldn’t find the time to actually do a play. So drag was the fastest thing that I could grab on to and perform and get that rush of adrenaline.

It is expected that over 1,000 men will be diagnosed with male breast cancer each year. Because men often wait to report the symptoms of male breast cancer, the disease is more likely to have spread, leaving many
men with less hope that treatment will lead to recovery. Bears 4 Boobs was created as a team for the Atlanta 2 Day to spread awareness that men can be diagnosed with breast cancer. Please join us and help us reach our fundraising goal!
