What is TRUVADA for PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis)?

u You may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or serious liver

TRUVADA is a prescription medicine that can be used for PrEP to help reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 infection when used together with safer sex practices. This use is only for adults who are at high risk of getting HIV-1 through sex. This includes HIV-negative men who have sex with men and who are at high risk of getting infected with HIV-1 through sex, and male-female sex partners when one partner has HIV-1 infection and the other does not. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to prevent getting HIV-1. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.

Who should not take TRUVADA for PrEP?

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION What is the most important information I should know about TRUVADA for PrEP? Before taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: u You must be HIV-negative. You must get tested to make sure that you do not already have HIV-1 infection. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 unless you are confirmed to be HIV-negative. u Many HIV-1 tests can miss HIV-1 infection in a person who has recently become infected. If you have flu-like symptoms, you could have recently become infected with HIV-1. Tell your healthcare provider if you had a flu-like illness within the last month before starting TRUVADA for PrEP or at any time while taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Symptoms of new HIV-1 infection include tiredness, fever, joint or muscle aches, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, night sweats, and/or enlarged lymph nodes in the neck or groin. While taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: u You must continue using safer sex practices. Just taking TRUVADA for PrEP may not keep you from getting HIV-1. u You must stay HIV-negative to keep taking TRUVADA for PrEP. u To further help reduce your risk of getting HIV-1: • Know your HIV-1 status and the HIV-1 status of your partners. • Get tested for HIV-1 at least every 3 months or when your healthcare provider tells you. • Get tested for other sexually transmitted infections. Other infections make it easier for HIV-1 to infect you. • Get information and support to help reduce risky sexual behavior. • Have fewer sex partners. • Do not miss any doses of TRUVADA. Missing doses may increase your risk of getting HIV-1 infection. • If you think you were exposed to HIV-1, tell your healthcare provider right away. u If you do become HIV-1 positive, you need more medicine than TRUVADA alone to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. TRUVADA can cause serious side effects: u Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious medical emergency. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, nausea, vomiting, stomach-area pain, cold or blue hands and feet, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and/or fast or abnormal heartbeats. uSerious liver problems. Your liver may become large and tender, and you may develop fat in your liver. Symptoms of liver problems include your skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, and/or stomach-area pain.

problems if you are female, very overweight (obese), or have been taking TRUVADA for a long time. In some cases, these serious conditions have led to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of these conditions. u Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. If you also have HBV and take TRUVADA, your hepatitis may become worse if you stop taking TRUVADA. Do not stop taking TRUVADA without first talking to your healthcare provider. If your healthcare provider tells you to stop taking TRUVADA, they will need to watch you closely for several months to monitor your health. TRUVADA is not approved for the treatment of HBV. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you already have HIV-1 infection or if you do not know your HIV-1 status. If you are HIV-1 positive, you need to take other medicines with TRUVADA to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you also take lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) or adefovir (HEPSERA).

What are the other possible side effects of TRUVADA for PrEP?

Serious side effects of TRUVADA may also include: u Kidney problems, including kidney failure. Your healthcare provider may do blood tests to check your kidneys before and during treatment with TRUVADA for PrEP. If you develop kidney problems, your healthcare provider may tell you to stop taking TRUVADA for PrEP. u Bone problems, including bone pain or bones getting soft or thin, may lead to fractures. Your healthcare provider may do tests to check your bones. u Changes in body fat, which can happen in people taking TRUVADA or medicines like TRUVADA. Common side effects in people taking TRUVADA for PrEP are stomacharea (abdomen) pain, headache, and decreased weight. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effects that bother you or do not go away.

What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking TRUVADA for PrEP?

u All your health problems. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you

have or have had any kidney, bone, or liver problems, including hepatitis virus infection. u If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if TRUVADA can harm your unborn baby. If you become pregnant while taking TRUVADA for PrEP, talk to your healthcare provider to decide if you should keep taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Pregnancy Registry: A pregnancy registry collects information about your health and the health of your baby. There is a pregnancy registry for women who take medicines to prevent HIV-1 during pregnancy. For more information about the registry and how it works, talk to your healthcare provider. u If you are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed. The medicines in TRUVADA can pass to your baby in breast milk. If you become HIV-1 positive, HIV-1 can be passed to the baby in breast milk. u All the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. TRUVADA may interact with other medicines. Keep a list of all your medicines and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist when you get a new medicine. u If you take certain other medicines with TRUVADA for PrEP, your healthcare provider may need to check you more often or change your dose. These medicines include ledipasvir with sofosbuvir (HARVONI). You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.FDA.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

WRITTEN BY CHARLES D. DUNST

The Forgotten Gay Holocaust “Gay men, just like after the Holocaust, are once again

being omitted from the global consciousness.”

As a Jew, the Holocaust was introduced into my life at quite an early stage. Although a full conceptual understanding would take years to develop, the concept of “70 years ago, Germany killed a bunch of Jews – just because they were Jews” was a staple in both my early religious and secular educations. This collective suffering served as a source of solidarity and unity in a reform Jewish community and as I progressed academically and personally, my understanding of the Holocaust deepened. Hitler didn’t just kill the Jews because they were Jews. He killed the Jews because he could cite them as the harbingers of German failure – largely due to the fact that we were already otherized. In both secular and religious academia, the Holocaust is portrayed as a largely Jewish genocide. Other communities, such as Soviet prisoners of war, ethnic Poles, Serbians, the disabled, and Romani people, are mentioned as secondary victims. For the most part, this is exactly how the Holocaust should be taught – as a Jewish genocide in which others were also targeted. The issue, however, is the historical omission of a specific community; gay men. Homosexuals were not the direct focus of the Holocaust, but they were exterminated at rates higher that most, and treated worse than nearly every community. Alongside with the Jews, Hitler and the Nazis saw “the Weimar Republic’s toleration of homosexuals as a sign of Germany’s decadence.” In their posing as messengers of Christian morality, the Nazis intended to stamp out the “vice” of homosexuality. According to the Nazis, male homosexuals were weak, effeminate and could therefore not represent their pure German state. Male homosexuals also posed a specific risk, as they could not increase the German birthrate. The Nazis believed that

inferior races produced more children than “Aryans,” meaning that any community that failed to increase the German birthrate posed a racial danger. The Nazis therefore saw male homosexuals as immoral, weak, and as reproductive failures. To the Nazis, male homosexuals were the physical embodiment and cause of German degeneration. They believed male homosexuals to be a unique threat to Germany –and they persecuted them as such. In the Nazi male-dominant society, “the presence of lesbians was not feared,” as Ted Phillips, director of exhibitions at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum puts it, adding “the sex of women was not important, except for being a mother & wife.” Between 1933 and 1945, nearly 100,000 men were arrested as homosexuals, while 50,000 of these men were officially sentenced. Nearly 15,000 of these men were sent to concentration camps. A study by leading scholar Rüdiger Lautmann asserts that the death rate of homosexuals may have been as high as 60% — one and a half times higher than that of political prisoners (41%) and Jehovah’s Witnesses (35%). As the United States National Library of Medicine National Institutes has stated, “male homosexuals were subjected to the harshest conditions and treated as the lowest of the low in the camp hierarchy.” Male homosexuals were constantly beaten, had their testicles boiled off by water, sodomized by broken broomsticks, and were often utilized by the S.S. as target practice; with these soldiers aiming their shots at the pink triangles gay men were forced to wear. The Nazis also repeatedly utilized gay men for cruel human experimentation. Although gay men were “the lowest of the low” in the concentration camp hierarchy, this community is often omitted from all Holocaust literature and

education. This modern exclusion is the natural evolution of historical revision across Europe. Although Jews and other groups were given reparations and state pensions, gay men were excluded. In fact, gay men in Germany remained criminals, as the 1935 Nazi-legal change was on the books until 1969. Homosexual holocaust survivors were often re-imprisoned for these “repeat offenses,” even being kept on lists of “sex offenders.” Following the fall of the Nazi government, countless homosexuals were forced to serve further imprisonment, regardless of their time in concentration camps. Due to global homophobia, the Nazis anti-gay policies were largely ignored by the allied powers, Holocaust historians, and educators up until the 1980s. The allied powers – the U.S., Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union – all had anti-gay, antisodomy laws on the books for years following the end of World War II. They therefore saw nothing wrong with Germany retaining such laws following the fall of the Nazi regime. Since homosexuality was criminalized throughout much of the world, very few gay victims came forward to tell their stories. It wasn’t until 2002 that the German government officially apologized to the gay community. The persecution of gays in the Holocaust is still not considered a genocide by the U.N., as its definition is limited to national, ethnic, racial or religious groups. History courses, taught both in my secular schools and in my religious school, failed to mention the persecution of male homosexuals. As a gay Jewish man, I quite literally would have been at the bottom of the Nazi totem pole. The Holocaust was a Jewishfocused program of genocide, but others were victimized as well. Ignoring male homosexuals – “the lowest of the low” – is dangerous and allows for future persecution.

Concentration camp-style prisons for gay men have recently emerged in the Russian region of Chechnya. These camps are the most recent in a wave of anti-gay violence from Muslim nations across the region. The press secretary for Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen Republic, asserted that the report is a lie, claiming that are in no gays in Chechnya – and that if there were, they would be dealt with by their families. A gay Holocaust took place in the 1930s and 1940s. It is repeating in Chechnya as we speak. The post-Holocaust denial of homosexuality’s legitimacy and morality has allowed for a world in which countless states, including U.S. allies, have no issue detaining and murdering gays. The Trump administration’s decision to remove LGBT people from the 2020 census allows for the existence of such a world. By denying our domestic existence, the Trump administration gives the world a green light to both demonize and persecute us without fear. Trump has attacked Syria because of the suffering of “beautiful babies,” his silence towards an orchestrated program of genocide against innocent gay men is deafening. Gay men, just like after the Holocaust, are once again being omitted from the global consciousness. We were not considered legitimate victims of the Holocaust until the 1980s. The stories of gay men are still not included in the average Holocaust history class. Chechnya’s concentration camps – the first in Europe since World War II — are a prime example. Gay men are literally being rounded up and sent to concentration camps; all while the western world, as lead by the Trump administration, continues to ignores our existence and turn a blind eye to our current suffering. GEORGIA BOY GETS LOUD

G

eorgia’s own Davis Mallory, best known for starring on MTV’s The Real World, is gearing up to get “Loud” this spring with the release of the title track from his upcoming album. Cowritten with Mitchell Rose and produced by Ricca Vita and J. Hanna, “Loud” is an upbeat summer dance song about hooking up with someone you quietly desire. It’s seductive R&B with a funky, chilled, head-swinging vibe and sex-soaked lyrics; much in the way of Zayn’s “Pillowtalk,” although Davis calls it his Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On” or George Michael’s “I Want Your Sex.” “It’s a bit outside of the norm of what I usually write and sing about,” he admits. The erotic intensity of the song is reflected in its music video, directed by Derrick Lipschitz. It features Davis

dancing provocatively with leggy female models while holding leashed men in cat masks. In addition to taking listeners on an unexpected journey into s&m, the video emphasizes Davis’ interest in being a recording and visual artist. Raised by an artist mother, Davis says he plans to blend more of his music with visually stunning and personal pieces. In “Loud,” he highlights his passion for felines. “I’m a Leo and have always gravitated towards lions and cats,” Davis explains. His Himalayan cat, Xena, appears in the video. “I embody a lot of the qualities attributed to Leos. I’m loyal, creative, artistic; I love to entertain and be in the spotlight. I like my hair, I’m independent and I’m strategic in the way a lion hunts. When I fall for someone, its pretty intense.” Born and raised in Marietta, GA, Davis grew up in a musical family. His uncle

John Mallory wrote songs for Sixpence None the Richer and Wynona Judd. His uncle Chaz Corzine managed Amy Grant, The Civil Wars’ Joy Williams and Michael W. Smith. Davis, himself, has had an impressive history in music, launching his career with MTV on The Real World and The Challenge. He was also a music news correspondent for MTV’s NewNowNext. com where he curated playlists, reviewed live shows, promoted new music and interviewed artists including Ellie Goulding, Janelle Monae and NERVO. He later moved to Astralwerks Records (UMG/Capitol), working in A&R and promotion and engaging

campaigns for David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Empire of the Sun, Kylie Minogue, NERVO, and Kraftwerk, among others. While at Astralwerks, Davis began training as a DJ, making his debut at the legendary nightclub Pacha. It was also at this time that he began to dabble in songwriting. In 2013, Davis moved to Nashville to focus solely on songwriting and recording music. From 2015 through 2016, he wrote over 130 songs. He selected those he felt were the most homogenous to create the LOUD EP. The title track is the second release from LOUD. The first single, “Under Your Spell,” a lush, heartfelt ballad, released Valentine’s Day. Other tracks featured on the album include “Ocean Blue,” “Distance,” “Not That Far Away” and ”Be Without You”. Co-written with Lockwood Barr (winner of Nashville Music Industry Award’s “Best Live Country Performer”) and produced by Brazilian duo Paulo Ventura & RDR, “Ocean Blue” details the great lengths Davis says he would travel for someone he is in love with. “Distance,” a song he wrote with Bay Brooks (who competed on NBC-TV’s The Voice), is about the challenges of maintaining a long distance relationship. ”Be Without You” is the darkest song on LOUD, depicting the despair following the end of a relationship, and ”Not That Far Away” is a song Davis wrote against a beat by Nashville based pop-producer Jon Santana. It’s about going to heaven. “I channel my emotions into my music, hoping they resonate with others,” Davis Mallory explains. “I’m excited about this record and I’m eager to tour and perform the tracks at Prides, festivals and nightclubs. This is my time to be heard and I’m prepared get Loud.”

REVIEW

By: Terri Schlichenmeyer

BOOK REVIEW:

“THE LOTTERYS PLUS ONE” Move Over. You’re taking up too much space. There’d be enough seats if you didn’t have two of them, so skootch down. Let someone else in. There’s room for everybody and everyone fits, but in the new book “The Lotterys Plus One” by Emma Donoghue illustrated by Caroline Hadilaksono, not everybody fits in. Nine-year-old Sumac Lottery knew that her family was unique. It was no big deal, though; that’s what happens when a man from the Yukon and a man from India fall in love, and a Mohawk woman and a Jamaican woman fall in love, too. It’s what happens when there are seven kids, most of them from other “bios.” It wasn’t always that way. When MaxiMum was giving birth to Sic sixteen years ago, PapaDum and PopCorn were rubbing MaxiMum’s back when CardaMom found a winning lottery ticket that someone else had lost. They got lots of money, which allowed them to change their surnames and buy a big house for the big family that the four parents always wanted. That all happened long before Sumac was born. And it might’ve stayed that way, too – eleven Lotterys (plus pets) in one big, rowdy, happy family – but then PopCorn got a call from the Yukon. His father had accidentally almost burned his house down, and he could no longer live by himself so the parents decided that Iain (PopCorn’s pop) should be moved into Camelottery. And because Sumac had a mainfloor bedroom, she was asked to give it up and move her things to the Artic (also known as the attic). That was something she really didn’t want to do. She really didn’t want “Grumps” to come live at Camelottery at all because he was mean and nasty, racist, and he hated everything and everyone. To be truthful, Sumac didn’t like him very much, either, so she started to think up a plan… Let’s start here: “The Lotterys Plus One” is too: too messy; too cutesy; too padded with notpertinent-to-the-story scenes; and, with a plethora of names, 28: April 21, 2017

too confusing. It’s as if author Emma Donoghue tried too much to put an Age of Aquarius spin on what could have been a simple story of diversity and inclusion. It’s too over-the-top. That’s quite the departure from Donoghue’s adult novels, which are tight, vivid, and brimming with stunning plausibility; instead, this story is just plain weird, starting with character names that are new-agey and forced-clever. These same characters give funnynot-funny names to rooms (“Derriere” is – wait for it! – the backside of the house), and much of the dialogue consists of inside-jokes and preschooler misunderstandings (“Spare Oom.” Say it aloud). It’s as if Pippi Longstocking moved into a House of Wordplay, only not as charming and nowhere near as much fun. At its very basic, this story – a large, diverse family welcomes an elderly relative – is solid, even good. It’s the peripherals that are hard to get past, and 8-to-12year-olds may not have much patience for it. For sure, adults can spot “The Lotterys Plus One,” and move on.

“I have to trust a person implicitly before I let them into my personal space,” admits Kenyth Mogan. “I’m one of those people who either trusts immediately or not at all.” In his new song, “Real Me,” the out artist opens up about his true self that he’s kept hidden up until now. “Its introspective, but it’s also a fun song,” explains Mogan. “I’m calling it Katy Perry meets Mika.” The song is a return to the pop sound fans loved from Mogan’s 2015 single, “Unlock Your Heart”. It can be heard in Del Shore’s new film, A Very Sordid Wedding. “I played a big part in writing this track,” he continues. “That’s really important to me because my goal as an artist is to grow and get better with each new song.” We spoke to Kenyth Mogan from his home in Los Angeles. Have you been to Atlanta? Kenyth Mogan: I’ve been twice! The whole city has such an incredible energy. So much amazing nightlife! Straits was one of my favorite restaurants but that was like four years ago. I need to figure out a time to get out there again so I can hang and really get into it. Where did you grow up? Kenyth Mogan: I grew up in a very small town in the northeastern corner of Montana called Glasgow. It’s the type of town where people didn’t lock their doors at night.

Were you the one gay kid? Kenyth Mogan: (Laughing) For a time, I thought I was the only gay kid but no, I later learned there were more. A lot of people assume that because I grew up in such a small town, it must’ve been hard, but it wasn’t. I enjoyed a wonderful childhood. I had wonderful friends. I came out at a very young age. I think I started the process at 14 or 15. How did you find your way to Los Angeles? Kenyth Mogan: I had this singing career thing I wanted to pursue, so I made the trek. I get homesick sometimes when I think about my family. I grew up especially close to my grandmothers. It’s hard to be so far away from them.

“It’s easier to pretend to be someone else when you’re hiding behind the screens of social networks. Some people are more outgoing than they would be, but others are just plain cruel”

Tell us about the

real Kenyth Mogan, that is, if Kenyth is your real name. Kenyth Mogan: (Laughing) I was born Kenneth Lee, after my grandfather, who passed away when my mother was twelve. Where did Kenyth come from? Kenyth Mogan: Kenyth came about when I was in high school. I was just starting to work on songs and stories, and wanted something different to set me apart, so I switched it up. Your new song, “Real Me,” is about stripping away the pretenses and revealing your true self. Do you think people today hide behind false personas? Kenyth Mogan: I think it’s easier to pretend to be someone else when you’re hiding behind the screens of social networks. Some people are more outgoing than they would be in person, but others are just plain cruel. I

like to think everyone has the capacity for honest and good intentions, but that may be what gets me into trouble. How is your online persona different from your real self? Kenyth Mogan: I can be very shy in person. It’s easier for me to get to know someone online. What are your favorite social apps? Kenyth Mogan: Facebook and Instagram are the two that I’m most proficient at. Basic, I know. I like Soundcloud, too, because thats where I connect with fellow artists. What’s the craziest lie you have been told by a guy on an app? Kenyth Mogan: That the woman I passed on the way out the door was his sister and the little girl was his niece. It wasn’t. It was his wife and daughter. Did you continue the relationship? Kenyth Mogan: It took a few months before I discovered the truth, but once I did, I didn’t come back around. My life is dramatic enough. I didn’t need to get in the middle of that can of worms. Why is it important that guys tell the truth about themselves? Kenyth Mogan: I don’t think it’s just guys, it’s everyone. Honesty is imperative. It makes things easier when people are honest and upfront about who they are and what they want. I don’t mince words. When I see something I want, I go for it and I’m honest about it. If it doesn’t work, I move on. What should fans take away from “Real Me?” Kenyth Mogan: First off, I hope the song makes them dance. But also, I hope the words resonate with something inside. No matter who you are or what you’re into, there is someone out there for you, someone who will not only get your weirdness, but embrace it. Hey Girl Hey! Summer Trends Holler Poodles!

While my job as a triple “ZZZ” list drag queen celebrity may sound all glitzy and glamourous to some, it also requires hard work. I’ve just returned from Fashion week and it’s an experience I’ll never forget. While I was under the impression I was headed to Atlanta Hartsfield LaToya Jackson International Space Port for a flight to the Mercedes Benz fashion show in NYC, I was disappointed to find I was headed to the exotic city of Jonesboro for their fashion “minute.” With Real Housewives of Atlanta Celebrity Look-A-Likes judging, the fashion show had its moments but was definitely not up to my international standards. NeNe Leakes-A-Lot was serving attitude, Porsche looked like a Pinto and Kenya-No-Moore was Breaking-Wind Fabulous although she did fill the room with a certain air. Kandi was humming along the whole time-it was only later I was informed she wasn’t singing. Maybe she was filled with the spirit something. Hmmmm. Fashions from wannabe fashion star Bob Tackie were less than impressive. Duct tape and hot glue were prominently featured throughout while still leaving the viewer wanting more. Speaking of more, I wasn’t sure but I think I saw some balls under that duct tape. Work it girls!! And color is the trend for summer! Golden Rod, Mustard, Yellow, Chartreuse, Rust and Burnt Umber are your featured color story. As I think about it, those colors are featured in my panties. What a coincidence!

INDIA: ILLEGAL TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV People living with HIV (PLHIV) in India now have equal rights after the government passed 38: April 21, 2017

The season nine premiere of the show last month was the highest-rated episode in franchise history. Nearly 1 million viewers tuned in – double last season’s premiere episode. Among the contributing factors: Lady Gaga as a guest judge, the show moving from Logo to VH1 and airing on Friday instead of Monday, and a massive social media presence. Chris McCarthy, President of VH1, MTV and Logo says in a statement: ‘It’s been amazing to see the show get its highest season ever on a whole new night on a whole new network. We brought in a whole new set of audience that is loving the show.’ Along with the surge in ratings has come more respect. Last fall, RuPaul won his first Emmy for Outstanding Host of a Reality Competition Series.

a historic bill ensuring their protection. The HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Bill was passed in the federal parliament on Tuesday. The bill makes it illegal to discriminate against PLHIV. India is the first country in south Asia to introduce antidiscrimination legislation. It will protect PLHIV’s access to health, housing education and prevent restaurants or shops refusing them entry. India has the third highest number of PLHIV at 2.1 million, with more than 68,000 people died of an AIDS related illness in 2015. The legislation also protects people from undergoing a HIV test, medical treatment or research without their consent. AS RATINGS SURGE, RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE IS RENEWED FOR A 10TH SEASON

Nadda told the Press Trust of India the bill was ‘historic’ and promised action ‘against those who create hatred against HIV patients.’ The legislation was welcomed by some HIV organizations but not everybody was happy with one part of the bill. The new law requires all state governments establish an ombudsman to investigate violations of the new law. Another clause requires the government must provide free treatment ‘as far as possible’. ‘This ‘As far as possible’ is a loophole which will turn the clock back to the mid-1990s. Without the guarantee of treatment, HIV will once again become a death sentence,’ Anand Grover, senior advocate with the Lawyers Collective said. ‘As for the ombudsman, it is neither a full-time post nor is the person required to have any judicial training.’

Paul Lhungdim, project coordinator for the Delhi Network of Positive People asked how poorer states would pay for the ombudsman. ‘It might just leave the post vacant. We would have preferred this responsibility for the ombudsman to have stayed with New Delhi,’ he said. ‘This is like opening the door and wondering why the horse bolted. How do we hold anyone accountable with a clause like this?’ He also the treatment clause would badly affect the effectiveness of the new legislation. ‘Yes, discrimination is a bad thing but it is likely to continue in some form or another given what society is like. For us, treatment is the absolute priority, so that we can be healthy and live. This clause dilutes the impact of the law,’ Lhungdim said.

DONALD TRUMP JR. ATTACKS LGBT COLLEGE STUDENTS ON TWITTER OVER CHICK-FIL-A

Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter today to chide LGBTI college students in Pittsburgh who are upset that Duquesne University has decided to allow a Chick-fil-A on campus. ‘Luckily these students won’t likely have to tackle issues more stressful than a yummy chicken sandwich,’ Trump tweeted.
