WHAT IS GENVOYA®? GENVOYA is a 1-pill, once-a-day prescription medicine used to treat HIV-1 in people 12 years and older who weigh at least 77 pounds. It can either be used in people who are starting HIV-1 treatment and have never taken HIV-1 medicines before, or people who are replacing their current HIV-1 medicines and whose healthcare provider determines they meet certain requirements. These include having an undetectable viral load (less than 50 copies mL) for 6 months or more on their current HIV-1 treatment. GENVOYA combines 4 medicines into 1 pill taken once a day with food. GENVOYA is a complete HIV-1 treatment and should not be used with other HIV-1 medicines. GENVOYA does not cure HIV-1 infection or AIDS. To control HIV-1 infection and decrease HIV-related illnesses, you must keep taking GENVOYA. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to reduce the risk of passing HIV-1 to others. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

What is the most important information I should know about GENVOYA?

GENVOYA may cause serious side effects: • Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. GENVOYA is not approved to treat HBV. If you have both HIV-1 and HBV and stop taking GENVOYA, your HBV may suddenly get worse. Do not stop taking GENVOYA without first talking to your healthcare provider, as they will need to monitor your health. Who should not take GENVOYA?

Do not take GENVOYA if you take: • Certain prescription medicines for other conditions. It is important to ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist about medicines that should not be taken with GENVOYA. Do not start a new medicine without telling your healthcare provider. • The herbal supplement St. John’s wort. • Any other medicines to treat HIV-1 infection. What are the other possible side effects of GENVOYA?

Serious side effects of GENVOYA may also include: • Changes in your immune system. Your immune system may get stronger and begin to fight infections. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any new symptoms after you start taking GENVOYA.

• Kidney problems, including kidney failure. Your healthcare provider should do blood and urine tests to check your kidneys. If you develop new or worse kidney problems, they may tell you to stop taking GENVOYA. • Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious but rare medical emergency that can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, cold or blue hands and feet, feel dizzy or lightheaded, or a fast or abnormal heartbeat. • Severe liver problems, which in rare cases can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, or stomach-area pain. The most common side effect of GENVOYA is nausea. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effects that bother you or don’t go away. What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking GENVOYA?

• All your health problems. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you have or have had any kidney or liver problems, including hepatitis virus infection. • All the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Other medicines may affect how GENVOYA works. Keep a list of all your medicines and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist. Ask your healthcare provider if it is safe to take GENVOYA with all of your other medicines. • If you take antacids. Take antacids at least 2 hours before or after you take GENVOYA. • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if GENVOYA can harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while taking GENVOYA. • If you are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed. HIV-1 can be passed to the baby in breast milk. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088. Please see Important Facts about GENVOYA, including important warnings, on the following page.

Actual ATRIPLA patients. ATRIPLA, one pill, once daily, has been chosen by more than 550,000‡ people with HIV and their doctors.

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR OR VISIT AtriplaAndMe.com TO FIND OUT MORE. What is ATRIPLA? ATRIPLA is a prescription medication used alone as a complete regimen, or with other anti-HIV-1 medicines, to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and children at least 12 years old who weigh at least 40 kg (88 lbs). ATRIPLA does not cure HIV-1 infection or AIDS and you may continue to experience illnesses associated with HIV-1 infection, including opportunistic infections. You should remain under the care of a doctor when using ATRIPLA. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION What is the most important information I should know about ATRIPLA? n If you also have hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and you stop taking ATRIPLA, you may get a “flare-up” of your hepatitis. A “flare-up” is when the disease suddenly returns in a worse way than before. Patients with HBV who stop taking ATRIPLA need close medical follow-up for several months to check for hepatitis that could be getting worse. ATRIPLA is not approved for the treatment of HBV, so you need to discuss your HBV therapy with your healthcare provider. Who should not take ATRIPLA? You and your healthcare provider should decide if ATRIPLA is right for you. Do not take ATRIPLA if you are allergic to ATRIPLA or any of its ingredients. What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking ATRIPLA? Tell your healthcare provider if you: n Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant: Women should not become pregnant while taking ATRIPLA and for 12 weeks after stopping ATRIPLA. Serious birth defects have been seen in children of

women treated during pregnancy with efavirenz, one of the medicines in ATRIPLA. Women must use a reliable form of barrier contraception, such as a condom or diaphragm, even if they also use other methods of birth control, while on ATRIPLA and for 12 weeks after stopping ATRIPLA. Women should not rely only on hormone-based birth control, such as pills, injections, or implants, because ATRIPLA may make these contraceptives ineffective. n Are breastfeeding: Women with HIV should not breastfeed because they can pass HIV and some of the medicines in ATRIPLA through their milk to the baby. It is not known if ATRIPLA could harm your baby. n Have kidney problems or are undergoing kidney dialysis treatment. n Have bone problems. n Have liver problems, including hepatitis B or C virus infection. Your healthcare provider may want to do tests to check your liver while you take ATRIPLA or may switch you to another medicine. n Have ever had mental illness or are using drugs or alcohol. n Have ever had seizures or are taking medicine for seizures. Seizures have occurred in patients taking efavirenz, a component of ATRIPLA, generally in those with a history of seizures. If you have ever had seizures, or take medicine for seizures, your healthcare provider may want to switch you to another medicine or monitor you. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

WITH THE STRENGTH OF

Undetectable viral load is a goal, and ATRIPLA has the power to help get you there. In a clinical trial: • ATRIPLA has been proven to LOWER VIRAL LOAD to undetectable* in approximately 8 out of 10 adult patients new to therapy through 48 weeks compared with approximately 7 out of 10 adult patients in the comparator group† • ATRIPLA has been proven to LOWER VIRAL LOAD to undetectable* through 3 years in approximately 7 out of 10 adult patients new to therapy compared with approximately 6 out of 10 adult patients in the comparator group†

SELECTED IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION What is the most important information I should know about ATRIPLA? n If you also have hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and you stop taking ATRIPLA, you may get a “flare-up” of your hepatitis. A “flare-up” is when the disease suddenly returns in a worse way than before. Patients with HBV who stop taking ATRIPLA need close medical follow-up for several months to check for hepatitis that could be getting worse. ATRIPLA is not approved for the treatment of HBV, so you need to discuss your HBV therapy with your healthcare provider Please see additional Important Safety Information below. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION (continued) What important information should I know about taking other medicines with ATRIPLA? ATRIPLA may change the effect of other medicines, including the ones for HIV-1, and may cause serious side effects. Your healthcare provider may change your other medicines or change their doses. MEDICINES YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE WITH ATRIPLA n ATRIPLA should not be taken with: Combivir® (lamivudine/zidovudine), COMPLERA® (emtricitabine/rilpivirine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate), DESCOVY® (emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide), EMTRIVA® (emtricitabine), Epivir® or Epivir-HBV® (lamivudine), Epzicom® (abacavir sulfate/lamivudine), GENVOYA® (elvitegravir/ cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide), ODEFSEY® (emtricitabine/rilpivirine/tenofovir alafenamide), STRIBILD® (elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir DF), Trizivir® (abacavir sulfate/lamivudine/zidovudine), TRUVADA® (emtricitabine/tenofovir DF), VEMLIDY® (tenofovir alafenamide), or VIREAD® (tenofovir DF). ATRIPLA should not be used with SUSTIVA® (efavirenz) unless recommended by your healthcare provider. n Vfend® (voriconazole) should not be taken with ATRIPLA since it may lose its effect or may increase the chance of having side effects from ATRIPLA. n ATRIPLA should not be used with HEPSERA® (adefovir dipivoxil).

These are not all the medicines that may cause problems if you take ATRIPLA. Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are taking or plan to take. What are the possible side effects of ATRIPLA? ATRIPLA may cause the following additional serious side effects n Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis). This is a serious but rare medical emergency. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, cold or blue hands and feet, feel dizzy or lightheaded, or a fast or abnormal heartbeat. n Severe liver problems. In rare cases, severe liver problems can happen that can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, or stomach-area pain. Please see Important Safety Information continued on the following pages.

* In the above clinical trial, undetectable was defined as a viral load fewer than 400 copies/mL. Ask your doctor about your individual results. † In this study, 511 adult patients new to therapy received either the meds in ATRIPLA each taken once daily or Combivir® (lamivudine/zidovudine) twice daily + SUSTIVA® (efavirenz) once daily. ‡ Symphony Health Solutions, PatientSource APLD and Source® PHAST Prescription Monthly, counts are cumulative and equivalized. BOOK REVIEW:

“TRANSITIONING TOGETHER” YOUR HAIR IS GRAYER THAN IT WAS BACK THEN. You’ve both packed on pounds here and there, too. A few wrinkles surround your smiles, but that’s okay – you’re not fresh-faced kids anymore. You’ve aged, you’ve softened and, in the new book “Transitioning Together” by Wenn & Beatrice Lawson, you’ve changed quite a bit.   Long before they met, Wendy and Beatrice had a lot in common: both came from families of similar sizes. Both had fathers that “didn’t have a head for figures” and mothers who ran the family businesses. Wendy and Beatrice are both on the autism spectrum. The main difference: Wendy was a married woman. They met one afternoon when Wendy, her husband, and their four children were living in the home of a “well-to-do” family that had just hired an au pair. The shy young woman didn’t speak English and Wendy didn’t speak Swiss German, but when Wendy was asked to help the girl to settle in, Beatrice proved to be a quick study. She easily learned a new language and she and Wendy forged a close friendship. Both seemed only a little surprised when that friendship turned into love. Wendy, who’d had health issues most of her life, never considered falling in love with another woman, but it felt right. Beatrice had an inkling that she was a lesbian but she shunned the word, afraid that it would “be an embarrassment” to her family. Even so, she settled into a relationship which was tender, and fragile from the start. Wendy and her family moved from England to Australia as her abusive marriage was crumbling. Beatrice was unable to make the move with her beloved, due to Australia ’s immigration laws. They ultimately figured out a way to be together physically; once Wendy’s divorce was final, they knew they’d be together legally as well. But even after their wedding, Wendy wasn’t happy. Never comfortable in her body, she felt sure that something was missing, 25: June 02, 2017

so she sought her “tribe” before understanding that she needed to transition to become the man he’d always known he was. And that was something Beatrice wasn’t sure she could handle… From its very beginning, “Transitioning Together” is a tough read. There’s a lot of preliminary to wade through to get to the start of the actual story here, and then there’s a lot of confusing set-up that identifies authors Wenn and Beatrice Lawson by their relative ages, rather than by name. While it’s helpful, later, to have a change in font to delineate who is weighing in, you might continue to be baffled by the semi-linear nature of what is mostly Mr. Lawson’s version. Yes, tenacious readers who can bear with this dual memoir will get a double-edged peek at the emotional process of transitioning for both partners, through the added, unique perspectives of autism and age. That’s worth the patience - if you have it. Indeed, this book could be more for professionals than for anyone else; general audiences may enjoy “Transitioning Together,” but only by a hair. 9 GUYS WHO TAKE ALL THE ‘FUN’ OUT OF APPS: IF YOU SEE YOURSELF IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APP ARCHETYPES, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO CHANGE.

G

ay hook-up apps are a lot like Facebook. Most of us are on them at some point (or all the time), even if we can’t stop griping about what a waste of time they are. But apps like Grindr, Scruff and Tinder aren’t the problem ― it’s certain people who use them. For once, I’m not talking about the ones who ask those clichéd questions so many have grown to hate: Looking for? Horny? Into? Hung? Frustrating as they can be, these guys at least know what they want. They’re like the ones who compulsively share XXX pics of their XXL manhood. Neither will likely satisfy the romantic idealism of anyone hoping for more than “fun,” but at the very least, they won’t waste our time. Which brings us to what, for many, is the true bane of their hook-up-app existence: The Unattainable Guy – and not because he’s such an incredible catch. If anyone truly gets between the grid and short- or long-term satisfaction, it’s this one. Over the course of my several years on the apps, I’ve noticed he comes in assorted

26: June 02, 2017

forms, all described below. Unlike The “Catfish” Guy, who might not be an actual guy at all, The Unattainable Guy is all too real – and he’s all over the grid. Dear readers: If you see yourself in any of the following app archetypes, it’s never too late to change your ways. Who knows? Maybe it’ll actually improve your own Grindr/Scruff/etc. existence along with everyone else’s. 1. THE VALIDATION SEEKER: He’s the app equivalent of the bar queen who brags about how many boys he kissed last night. Quantity over quality… or anything else. He leaves the distinct impression that he approaches guys/swipes right just to see how many of them will respond/swipe right, too. He’ll rarely actually talk to any of them. He’s like a social media addict who obsessively courts Facebook “likes” and Twitter/Instagram “followers” and uses them to measure his/ her personal worth. The more, the merrier he might be, but everyone involved ends up sleeping alone. 2. MEAN BOY: He’s the one most likely to list restrictions (No oldies, no fatties, no fems, no blacks, no whites, no Asians...), anything

by: Jeremy Helligar

to make himself feel superior to everyone he’s rejecting. Even if you make it past his velvet rope, he’ll find ways to make you feel inferior, too. About a year and a half ago, a work colleague introduced me to a guy who snubbed me to my face while gushing about me behind my back. He went on to have a one-and-a-halfnight stand with a very good friend of mine, to whom he revealed his (and Mean Boy’s) dating mantra: “Treat ’em mean, keep ‘em keen.” Yep, he actually said that, and he eventually put those words into action with my poor pal. Alas, I don’t play that dating game. “The more you ignore me, the closer I get,” Morrissey sang on his biggest U.S. solo hit. Great song, but I can’t relate. Neither pining nor stalking has ever been the best use of my time.

3. THE “POLITE” RESPONDER: For some reason, some guys insist on being rejected outright. No response doesn’t send a clear enough message, so they follow up with question marks until you block them. Defeated but still defiant, they add a familiar request to their profiles: “If you’re not interested, just block or say so. It’s only courteous.” Oh, the beasts these Mr. Manners have spawned. Personally, if a guy ignores me, unlike Morrissey in the aforementioned hit, I move on to one who doesn’t. But not so fast. Just because he responds, doesn’t mean he’s interested. A lot of them are just being “polite,” offering curt, blase responses to your follow-ups without making any discernible attempt to keep the conversation going. I once called out someone on it and asked him why he responded if he wasn’t interested. He said it wasn’t me; it was his exhaustion from work. It apparently depleted his energy and ability to offer an online tone that couldn’t be interpreted as gruff and slightly annoyed. So why was he on Grindr and not in bed at 11pm then? I’d rather be ignored. 4. THE COMPULSIVE CHAT-ER: On the plus side, this one might be blessed with the gift of gab. It’s always nice to bypass sexual positions and penis size, but if smallish talk isn’t going to lead anywhere, shouldn’t you at least be near an open bar? Even though he’s probably the one who approached you and may actually live only blocks away, it’s near impossible to score a date or even a hook-up, because he’s all talk, no meet. 5. BORED/BORING GUY: Hey… How r u… What’s doin… Where you at… If communicating in three words or less is your thing, here comes your man. He’s not really looking for anything. He’s just here because he’s got a phone and functioning WiFi, and there’s nothing better to do. Good times, right? 6. THE PIC COLLECTOR: Like I recently told one suitor requesting XXX pics, if you’re dying to see a big black c—k, Google “big black c—k.” 7. MR. CATCH ME IF YOU CAN: For me, this guy is the most frustratingly unattainable because he’s so good on paper. He’s typically handsome, quick to respond (and not in that detached “The ‘Polite’ Responder” way), engaging, and he’s often online, which would seem to indicate availability. Don’t get it twisted, though. He may be seemingly free and presumably “looking,” but he’s not available. He’s never available. So busy, he keeps reminding you, though he’s rarely too busy to be on the grid. Grindr may very well be the only place in the world

where someone who’s working part-time at a backpackers hostel while looking for a full-time job has a more jam-packed schedule than someone who runs a Fortune 500 company. 8. THE GHOSTING GAY: He’s the one who actually meets up with you, maybe even goes on a date with you. He might even call out your name during sex. He acts like he’d love to see you again and might even tell you to stay in touch, breaking the unspoken “NSA” rule. But after his clothes are back on, he disappears from your life as abruptly as he entered it, possibly blocking you once he’s safely out of sight. On the rare occasion that you do hear from him again, he’s probably only seeing if you’ll respond (see “The Validation Seeker” above) before the ghosting begins. And if you reach out to him first, he might respond once, maybe even twice (see “The ‘Polite’ Responder” above), before the ghosting begins. You may see him weeks, months, a year later. If he doesn’t pretend he’s never met you, he might actually go home with you, beginning the ghosting cycle all over again. An accidental hook-up is as good as it’ll get after the first one. He’ll never be a dependable f—k buddy, much less a friend with benefits, because that would require him to stay in touch, and he’s just not that into you. 9. “WIRED” GUY: While he’s typically a nocturnal animal, this one lurks during daylight, too, particularly if you live in a tourist-heavy city. He’s drunk on life, love, whatever controlled substance he can get his sweaty, shaky hands on. He’s pretty easy to spot because he mangles simple words and sentences in ways Autocorrect/Predictive text could never dream of, and his profile is typically suspiciously bare. The good news is that if you’re too busy sleeping or living your offline life to catch your window of opportunity, you’ll probably never hear from him again.

Some might wonder what would lead a lesbian couple to try to remain Mormon after a policy instituted in 2015, which stated that samesex married couples are to be considered apostates and called up for excommunication proceedings, and that their children should be excluded from many church rituals, including baptism. But in the short film Faithful, by Jenn Lee Smith and Dane Christensen, a lesbian couple in the small town of Roosevelt, Utah, is depicted trying to do this very thing. The new Mormon policy against same-sex couples was in part a reaction to the Supreme Court decision to make samesex marriage the law of the land. Obviously, the Mormon church has been engaged in anti-gay legislation for much longer, including massive financial support for Prop 8 in California. However, the history of the Mormon church vis-à-vis traditional marriage in the United States is varied. In the 1840’s and 1850’s, Mormons left the current borders of the United States for then territory of Utah so that church members could practice the “Principle” of plural marriage, or polygamy.

Mormon founder Joseph Smith and his brother and the patriarch of the church Hyrum Smith, were killed partly for their practice of polygamy and Mormons were ejected from their homes in Nauvoo, Illinois. But in 1890, Mormons rejected the alternate marriage lifestyle and committed to only monogamy once more. Yet every Mormon knows that the legacy of polygamy lives on, constantly asked questions by non-members about how many wives a husband or father has. This might be one reason that the church has worked so hard in

“The rules of going to a Mormon church meeting when you’re in a same-sex relationship include no touching, no holding hands, no looking at each other for too long.”

the last several decades to make sure that “Mormon” equals something other than polygamy in the cultural American mind. In some sense, the church has succeeded beyond its wildest dreams in this. Now, as opposed to in the 1970s, Mormons are known to be the most determinedly anti-gay of any other Christian denomination.

Faithfully walking a tightrope

The Family: A Proclamation to the World, considered by many Mormons as scripture, was given to the church in 1995, and declares strict gender rules for men (providers and presiding priesthood holders) and women (nurturers), as well as declaring that gender is “eternal,” and was part of our premortal existence,

By Mette Ivey Harrison

as well as being part of our post-mortal existence in an after-life in heaven. It is this document that has largely been used in the past two decades to hammer home to Mormons the importance of a one-man/ one-woman traditionally gendered marriage structure. Mormons believe that this pattern is not only divinely inspired, but the same one God Himself (Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother) follow in the eternities. If Mormons want to go to the highest level of the celestial kingdom (heaven), they must be married in the temple to someone of the opposite sex, be active Mormons, and follow other rules of Mormonism, including the Word of Wisdom that prohibits alcohol and tobacco. For LGBT Mormons, the rules are even more complicated. In order to enforce the traditional marriage rules, this means that the rules of going to a Mormon church meeting when you’re in a same-sex relationship include no touching, no holding hands, no looking at each other for too long. While the Mormon church no longer preaches that feeling “same-sex attraction” is in itself a sin, it continues to teach that “acting” on that attraction in any way is. For most Mormons who are on the LGBT+ spectrum, this has meant leaving the church in order to have companionship, but not for Lauralie and Marylu, an extraordinary lesbian couple who are determined to live a celibate life together, in accordance with the rules of the Mormon church. Lauralie calls her relationship with Marylu “emotional companionship without the sex” and thinks of Marylu as her best friend. But she always feels an emptiness when she enters a church building and must not show physical affection for Marylu. While she clings to her temple recommend and is commended by her bishop for showing to other Mormons that being gay isn’t a sin, Lauralie is torn by the Mormon doctrine and its less than ideal promises in an afterlife where heaven is only for the heterosexual. Marylu talks about the time when she rejected Mormonism after trying to “pray away” her homosexuality. She was out of the church for four years, but ultimately decided that it “didn’t work.” She decided to come back to church and thought she would have to be alone the rest of her life—until she found in Lauralie. DANCE DIVA TAKES ON OL’ BLUE EYES KENDRA ERIKA’S NEW SINGLE REINTERPRETS LEGENDARY JAZZ

“Under My Skin” draws inspiration from Ol’ Blue Eyes’ “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”.  Kendra Erika wrote the track with Damon Sharpe,  a Grammy Award winning producer who has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Kylie Minogue, among others.  Sharpe also produced “Under My Skin,” along with Eric Sanicola and Jason Dauman,  the influential founder of dance music label, Dauman Music. “It was Damon’s idea to reinterpret one of Sinatra’s standards for the dance floor,” says Kendra Erika from her South Florida home.  “He suggested ‘Summer Wind’ but I thought ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’ would work better because of the whole ‘let’s see if we get caught’ theme.   “It got me thinking how the youth of today are not much different from those of 75 years ago, when the Cole Porter original was written,” she continues. “We still feel invincible when it comes to love and life and if you think about it, why shouldn’t we?  We’re still discovering who we are and where we stand.  Everyone’s young and stupid at some point in their lives,” she laughs.   Kendra Erika’s “Under My Skin” is a Big Room track.  Its playful and alluring with sweeping build-ups and hard drops. “I have big hopes for the song.  I hope it impacts club fans and gets under their skin! Whether they’re dancing out at the club, or in workout beast mode at the gym, or even if they’re simply cruising along in their car, I want the song to lift their minds to new heights.”  To make sure “Under My Skin” gets its due in clubs, Dauman Music enlisted the powerhouse production team of Marc Stout a/k/a Mixin Marc, best known for their work with The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Rihanna, Diplo, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry, for the song’s remixes. “Under My Skin” is the follow-up to Kendra Erika’s “Oasis,” her first collaboration with Damon Sharpe.  It was heralded for it’s striking cinematic glamour, reminiscent of tracks by Lana Del Rey.   It reached #9 on the Billboard Dance Charts in November. “Kendra and I went into the studio hoping to re-create the magic of ‘Oasis,’” recalls Sharpe.  “I think we succeeded.  Kendra and I have a

chemistry that shines.” Kendra agrees, but shies away from comparing “Under My Skin” with “Oasis”.  “I strive to live in the present and always keep my focus on the future. The songs I did in the past were the best for where I was at that particular time in my life and career.  What I love about ‘Under My Skin’ is it is more involved and complex than anything I’ve done previously.  It shows growth in its artistry.”  Kendra Erika is trained in classical and jazz, her Deep House/Pop recording style developed from going out to Miami clubs and experiencing the impact the city’s DJs had on the dance floor.  She said she was particularly drawn to how the music provided an escape for club fans.

“House music offers a full experience for all the senses to enjoy,” she reflects. “I aim to take people on an elevating, emotional journey with my songs.  It can be happy or sad, as long as its positive and affirming.  I steer clear from anything that is hyper sexualized or selfdegrading. I’m not interested in providing a distraction that is disguised as an escape.” Kendra Erika’s “Under My Skin”  is being released globally through Dauman Music and Sony Red and is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, and all other major retailers. It is also available for streaming through Pandora and Spotify. Its lyric video is available on YouTube.  To learn more about Kendra Erika, visit  Daumanmusic. com and KendraErika.com.

Hey Girl Hey! Holler Poodles! Continuation of“Casting Couch” from a the last isue. Check out my facebook page for part 1. Just then, the door flew open and two tough policemen security guards had their nightsticks out and said they had received a call about an awful smell someone disturbing the peace. I replied my toilet was backed up and I needed to go real bad and this kind young man was about to help me. He started babbling about me taking advantage of him so I accidentally on purpose popped him upside his head with the sofa. I was truly hoping to suck all the creamy delicious filling out of that twinkie but who know, maybe next time? The security guards said “well maybe we ought to call the police” so I knew I had to run distract them. As luck would have it, the beefy bean burrito started to quack and I let them have it full force. GrrrrrrmmmmmmmP! As their skin began to melt, they backed up and ran. Unfortunately for me so did the squirts running down my leg. I took a quick sponge bath in the sink and headed over to my next meeting with a producer named Dick Leeker. Really mister? You’re gonna be a producer on an adult movie with a name like Dick Leeker? Inevitably, he started to make the moves on me. He lifted one of my breasts over his shoulder and down his back and the other down behind the couch. I wasn’t sure but I thought I heard mice in the trailer gnawing on my nipple. He kept trying to kiss me but his breath smelled like he had been eating the ass of The Walking Dead. I pushed his head further South so I wouldn’t have to smell his breath but when he pulled my thong down, the last bit of Taco Bell hit my stomach and I just sprayed him down like a popcorn ceiling. He looked like a Jackson Pollack painting “Composition in brown”. I quickly stripped off my thong and pulled up my pants to make my getaway. As I was stepping out of the door, I heard him say, “aww, honey, don’t leave, it happens to all of us.” Naw hell it don’t MF!!! As I was running across the back lot, I saw a kiddie pool and a guy washing his dog. I made nice with him and “accidentally” fell in so I could refresh myself. Though the guy initially looked horrified, he ended up asking me if I could get out of the pool because he had other dogs to wash for a date. All in a day for your big time celebrity actress… Mary Edith Pitts!

Gay News At A Glance Adult entertainment performer Kayden Gray has posted a video in which he discloses that he is HIV positive. In the video the performer and escort says he was diagnosed 3.5 years ago, nine months into his porn career. ‘I would like everyone to know that I’m HIV positive. I can’t sit on this secret’ he says, having kept it to himself for so long already. He talks candidly about how he became infected: ‘I went to a party and had unprotected sex with multiple guys, and it was fun. Then I was sick.’

After a week he thought he was getting better, but then things got worse and he lost weight and had extreme flu-like symptoms. He says he know that many people who become HIV are asymptomatic and experience no illness at first, but for him it was ‘very obvious something was wrong.’ In the immediate aftermath of his diagnosis, he felt ‘unlovable’, ‘disgusting’ and that his life was going to end. He now has an undetectable viral load. ‘It’s actually very safe to have a completely regular, if not slightly crazy, sex life.’ ‘If you think this doesn’t affect you because you are not stupid, you are not a whore, or you can take care of yourself...Well guess what? I used to say exactly the same things, and like

you, I used the word “clean.” ‘The thing is, you see, it takes one mistake, it takes one night out, one bareback f**k to join the club. It really is that easy. If you’re the kind of guy who sits on the dick first and then asks questions, then you my friend have speedy boarding onto this ride.’ He says living with HIV is hard, but ‘the worst part is the judgment. Not even from the general public but from people in your own community.’ He credits a gay men’s sexual and mental health support group with helping him and other guys to deal with the reality of being HIV positive. ‘It gets better,’ he says, addressing those who may be struggling with a diagnosis. ‘The dust will settle. And eventually you

quickly became one of the most popular dating apps for gay and bisexual men. It says it has over two million daily users. In recent years, it has sought to diversify, collaborating on a fashion range, photography book and online magazine. It announced that it had hired former Guardian US and Out writer Zach Stafford as editor-in-chief of its online magazine. The world’s most popular gay social network is Blued, launched by Chinese businessman Geng Le. It has over 27 million registered users. The majority are in Asia, but its userbase is growing around the world following concerted marketing efforts in Europe and the US in recent months. Last November, another popular gay app, Hornet, announced that it had successfully raised $8million (€7.6million) from Chinese investors. The money came from venture capital fund Ventech China.

THE NBA TEAMS UP WITH LGBT BUSINESSES

The NBA is teaming up with the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) to create more opportunities for LGBT business owners. The NGLCC has already worked with the NFL for Super Bowls 50 and 51 as well as the Major League Baseball, the Professional Golf Association, and the United States National Tennis Association. These partnerships help LGBT-run businesses bid on contracts to work at major sporting events. For companies officially certified by the NGLCC, this could mean a great deal. Texas-based catering company Jim Benton of Houston, for instance, became certified by the NGLCC right before Super Bowl 51 earlier this year. Because

WHITE HOUSE OMITS GAY HUSBAND’S NAME The official White House Facebook page uploaded a photo of the First Wives at the NATO conference, naming all in attendance except the husband of out-gay Luxembourg prime minister. of this, the business was able to be one of the 40 caterers at the NFL’s official Super Bowl tailgate party, which roughly 10,000 people attended. On top of becoming more inclusive, it also helps open the door to more revenue for all parties involved. ‘The NBA is recognizing that it’s not only the right thing to do but it’s smart business,’ Justin Nelson, the president of the NGLCC. ‘There’s a market there and there are potential businesses to drive attendance and to better manage production of everything that goes into the season and the teams. We see ourselves as being an icon for social change, achieving equality and acceptance.’ the conference pose for a photo together. This year, Destenay became the first gay man in the First Wives photo. But the White House wasn’t willing to mark the occasion until there was a huge negative backlash. GLAAD called out the blatant homophobia in the comments: ‘What about Luxembourg’s openly gay First Husband?’ After ten hours of the photo caption without Destenay, the White House finally gave in. Deputy press secretary to the White House, Stephanie Grisham said: ‘I’m sure it was an oversight. Thousands of photos were taken over the course of a very big, very busy international trip,’ she said.

CUTS TO AIDS TREATMENT PROGRAMS COULD KILL 1 MILLION

At least one million people will die in sub-Saharan Africa and elsewhere, researchers and advocates say, if funding cuts proposed by the Trump administration to global public health programs are enacted. The United States currently spends more than $6 billion annually on programs that buy anti-retroviral drugs for about 11.5 million people worldwide who are infected with H.I.V., the virus that causes AIDS. The Trump administration has proposed slashing those programs by at least $1.1 billion — nearly a fifth of their current funding, said Jen Kates, a vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation. “These are lifesaving interventions, and these levels of reductions will significantly curtail service delivery,” Ms. Kates said. In a briefing for reporters, Hari Sastry, director of the State Department’s Office of U.S. Foreign Assistance Resources, said that everyone now receiving drug treatments under the programs would be allowed to continue, even if the funding cuts were approved. Much of the success of anti-AIDS efforts in Africa has come from a guarantee in many countries that people who test positive for H.I.V. can immediately receive treatment. With a huge share of Africa’s population reaching sexual maturity in the next four years, the virus could again imperil much of the continent if fewer people are treated. FENUXE.COM : 39
