IMPORTANT FACTS

This is only a brief summary of important information about TRIUMEQ and does not replace talking to your healthcare provider about your condition and your treatment. (TRI-u-meck) MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TRIUMEQ

ABOUT TRIUMEQ

TRIUMEQ may cause serious side effects, including: • Serious allergic reactions (hypersensitivity reaction) that can cause death have happened with TRIUMEQ and other abacavir-containing products. Your risk of this allergic reaction to abacavir is much higher if you have a gene variation called HLA-B*5701. Your healthcare provider can determine with a blood test if you have this gene variation. If you get symptoms from 2 or more of the following groups while taking TRIUMEQ, call your healthcare provider right away: 1. fever; 2. rash; 3. nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach pain; 4. generally ill feeling, extreme tiredness, or achiness; 5. shortness of breath, cough, or sore throat. A list of these symptoms is on the Warning Card your pharmacist gives you. Carry this Warning Card with you at all times. • If you stop taking TRIUMEQ because of an allergic reaction, never take TRIUMEQ or any other abacavir- or dolutegravircontaining medicines again. If you have an allergic reaction, dispose of any unused TRIUMEQ. Ask your pharmacist how to properly dispose of medicines. If you take TRIUMEQ or any other abacavir-containing medicine again after you have had an allergic reaction, within hours you may get life-threatening symptoms that may include very low blood pressure or death. If you stop TRIUMEQ for any other reason, even for a few days, and you are not allergic to TRIUMEQ, talk with your healthcare provider before taking it again. Taking TRIUMEQ again can cause a serious allergic or life-threatening reaction, even if you never had an allergic reaction to it before. If your healthcare provider tells you that you can take TRIUMEQ again, start taking it when you are around medical help or people who can call a healthcare provider if you need one. • Build-up of lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious medical emergency that can lead to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms: feeling very weak or tired, unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain with nausea or vomiting, feeling cold (especially in your arms and legs), feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and/or a fast or irregular heartbeat. • Serious liver problems, which in some cases can lead to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms: your skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow (jaundice), dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools (bowel movements), loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, and/or stomach pain on the right side. You may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or severe liver problems if you are female, very overweight, or have been taking nucleoside analogues for a long time. • Worsening of Hepatitis B (HBV) infection. If you have both HIV-1 and HBV, your HBV may suddenly get worse if you stop taking TRIUMEQ. Do not stop taking TRIUMEQ without first talking to your healthcare provider, as they will need to check your health regularly for several months. • Resistant HBV. If you have HIV-1 and HBV, the HBV can change (mutate) while you’re on TRIUMEQ and become harder to treat (resistant). • Use with interferon and ribavirin-based regimens. Worsening of liver disease that has caused death has happened in people infected with both HIV-1 and hepatitis C virus who are taking antiretroviral medicines and are also being treated for hepatitis C with interferon with or without ribavirin. If you are taking TRIUMEQ and interferon with or without ribavirin, tell your HCP if you have any new symptoms.

• TRIUMEQ is a prescription HIV-1 medicine used alone or with other antiretroviral medicines to treat HIV-1 infection in adults. TRIUMEQ is not for use by itself in people who have or have had resistance to abacavir, dolutegravir, or lamivudine. TRIUMEQ should not be used in children under the age of 18. • TRIUMEQ does not cure HIV-1 infection or AIDS. You must keep taking HIV-1 medicines to control HIV-1 infection and decrease HIVrelated illnesses.

®

DO NOT TAKE TRIUMEQ IF YOU • have a certain type of gene variation called the HLA-B*5701 allele. Your HCP will test you for this before prescribing treatment with TRIUMEQ. • are allergic to abacavir, dolutegravir, or any of the ingredients in TRIUMEQ. See the full Medication Guide for a complete list of ingredients in TRIUMEQ. • take dofetilide (Tikosyn®). Taking TRIUMEQ and dofetilide (Tikosyn) can cause side effects that may be life-threatening. • have liver or kidney problems. • If you also take: abacavir (EPZICOM, TRIZIVIR, or ZIAGEN); lamivudine (COMBIVIR®, DutrebisTM, EPIVIR®, EPIVIR-HBV®, EPZICOM, or TRIZIVIR); emtricitabine (Atripla®, Complera®, Emtriva®, Stribild®, or Truvada®).

BEFORE TAKING TRIUMEQ Tell your healthcare provider if you: • have been tested and know if you have a particular gene variation called HLA-B*5701. • have or had any kidney or liver problems, including hepatitis B or C virus infection. • have heart problems, smoke, or have diseases that increase your risk of heart disease such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. • drink alcohol or take medicines that contain alcohol. • are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if TRIUMEQ will harm your unborn baby. • are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed if you have HIV-1 because of the risk of passing HIV-1 to your baby. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take: • Keep a list that includes all prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements, and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist. • Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist about medicines that should not be taken with TRIUMEQ. Do not start taking a new medicine without telling your healthcare provider.

DEFEATING FEAR HOW TO CONQUER YOUR OPPONENT BY JOSHUAH NEAL

D

efeating your opponent, FEAR! Fear! Fear! Fear! It can come out of nowhere! In September 2016, a study from the National Institute of Mental Health said that 6.3 million Americans have been diagnosed with some type of Fear or phobia, but that many people stuggle with fear in their daily lives. So what is Fear? Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by a belief that someone or something is dangerous and likely to cause pain or a threat. Fear is to be AFRAID. The opposite of fear is FAITH. My name is Joshuah Neal, I personally have dealt with many fears that almost ruined my life. I’ve dealt with the fear of someone watching me, fear of intimacy, fear of being alone, fear of commitment, fear of dying, fear of judgment and the fear of being GAY to name a few. Research show that the top fears are: 1. PUBLIC SPEAKING 2. DEATH 3. SPIDERS 4. DARKNESS 5. HEIGHTS 6. FAILURE 7. REJECTION 8. COMMITMENT 9. CONFINED SPACES 10. STORMS 11. BEING ALONE

12. FLYING 13. WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR THINK ABOUT YOU Down the list is the fear of being GAY or Fear of the LGBT community. There are many issues and past experiences that can trigger a fear response within us. As mentioned in previous articles I was sexually molested as a child - I’m gonna be very transparent with you. This traumatic situation led to many fears in my life: the fear of being male, fear of being gay, fear of the dark, fear of someone watching, fear of commitment, fear of being penetrated or just the fear of intimacy of many levels. During my teenage years I knew that something was different with me however I kept fighting it. I knew that I had an attraction to the same sex but during this time I believed that it was wrong - because Homosexuals were made fun of, picked on and talked about. I didn’t want this to happen to me so I was AFRAID. Even during my early adulthood life I would hear negative comments about the LGBT community in general. These circumstances caused me to fear the fact that I am gay, so I lied for the longest. This fear led to other fears and other lies. Fear became a symptom and mental illness/ issue for me. Just a few years ago

I realized Fear was just my enemy, my opponent. Fear caused me to make up stories in my head and believe them. I didn’t know how to handle all of this so I just forced myself to “come out” openly. Coming out helped a little but I still didn’t know all I needed to know about fear. Fear led to shame and guilt. Shame & guilt are two emotions that I will talk about it the next article. Shame and guilt are fear’s sister and brother. In order to defeat and overcome fear, you must learn, study and use the necessary tools. Let’s take sports for example. A team consists of an offense and a defense. The offense are the tools you use and the defense is the learning, research and study of your opponent. You can’t win with just the offense or the defense you must have both. Let’s start with your DEFENSE. First you must know what fear is. I mentioned early that it’s an unpleasant emotion of being afraid. F.E.A.R. stands for False Evidence Appearing

Real. In one of my pastor’s (Dennis Rouse) sermons he mentions that fear can originate from a bad or negative spirit. He also stated that fear closes the door to success & blessing and opens the door to more negativity or bad. Fear can be dark and comes from darkness, fear can be a lie and fear keeps you from fulfilling your purpose. One of my favorite quotes comes from John Mason: “NEVER LET YOUR FEARS HOLD YOU BACK FROM PURSUING YOUR DREAMS” OFFENSE My journey of overcoming fear has been a process. Over the course of the last two years I have learned and studied my fears to the fullest. I would be lying if I stated I’ve never had fear again. Fear can still creeps up. If it does, I not only know all I need to know about it but I also use these tools to overcome. Here are some tools you can use to defeat fear: 1. Acknowledge your fears 2. Expose yourself to your fears 3. Attack your fears with FAITH 4. Stay strong 5. Have Courage 6. Belief in God/Higher Power 7. Be obedient All seven are important but Faith & Exposure was the most important for me. I didn’t have faith for the longest. Faith is believing without knowing. Faith is complete trust and confidence. I’m going to be even more transparent and deep. As mentioned earlier, fear used to have me make up stories in my head. These stories seemed very real. I was confused, stuck and became very depressed because I did not what was real and what was not. I made so many mistakes & bad decisions along the way and fear just lead to more Fear. I was even fearful of making mistakes and bad decisions. I was fearful of fear, that’s how bad it was. FEAR almost ruined my life. There were many times I wanted to just vanish. I decided to get help and learn as much as I can about this opponent of mine and the tools I need to overcome it. I give all the glory to God for allowing me to create space in my life for things that truly serve me: My Mom, my sister, my fitness family, Yoga, Victory World Church and ALL my counselors and therapists. We all have dealt with some kind of fear. One of the most common fears we all have is the fear of what other people think of us. People will ALWAYS have something to say about you. My therapist, Mrs. Kelly Stokes, told me to “make it none of my business about what people think of me.” I love that! For you that’s reading this now, trust your gut. You know when Fear is near. I believe this article will help you identify your fears and also DEFEAT your fears. Remember FAITH overcomes Fear.

BOOK REVIEW:

“MAKING MIDCENTURY MODERN”

You’ll never forget the feeling of key in hand. Imagine – you. A homeowner, finally, after saving, planning, and a ceiling-high pile of paperwork. Starting today, you can go home (home!), shut the door, and know that it’s all yours. So how do you reflect your style in this home you love? Begin with “Making Midcentury Modern” by Christopher Kennedy. When he was a young lad, Kennedy’s parents taught him the proper ways to a wellmannered life: his mother made him write thank-you notes, and she taught him how to “make a good first impression,” while his father advised him to “live each day to the fullest.” Those lessons were learned in “simpler, more gracious times.” Kennedy insists it’s not nostalgia that makes him love interior design from that period. Instead, he just likes the trend, and he doesn’t see it “slowing down any time soon.” In this book, he shows how you can include Midcentury Modern into your home, even if it was built last month. You can start in the entrance. Those first impressions matter when it comes to a home, says Kennedy. Paint your front door in a Midcentury Modern color to welcome guests warmly. On the topic of colors, Midcentury Modern isn’t shy. Orange is the “caffeine of the color wheel,” and it really pops. Think pink (Mamie Eisenhower’s favorite color), turquoise, white, red, or any shade of blue. Don’t just color walls, though; be bold with furniture, rugs, and accessories. Pillows in out-there colors are inexpensive ways to dip your toe into the design. Know the “secret to a beautiful and easy-to-make bed” – and for guest rooms, consider twin beds. Go ahead and mix metals, bring childhood treasures out for display, and recall Mom’s kitchen or bathroom for ideas. Take your indoors, outdoors, weather permitting. Pare down; Midcentury Modern isn’t cluttered (so on that note, hide

your TV). And finally, have fun. “Above all,” Kennedy says, “never take your home… too seriously.” Sometimes, it’s easy to feel indecision or paralysis, when it comes to décor. What if you make a mistake? What if you have “Making Midcentury Modern”? With 100 easy-to-use (and surprisingly budget-friendly) tips, author Christopher Kennedy gives readers the inspirational boost they need to make a home dazzle. You’ll see how simple color will transform a house’s entire look, and where cherished possessions can become unusual displays. Kennedy fully admits that many of his favorite pieces were discovered online or at thrift stores, an idea that’s somehow very delicious. And pillows? Pile ‘em on! The one criticism I have with this book isn’t with the information – it’s with getting that information: the font color against color can be very difficult to read. White print on a yellow background, for example, is nearly hidden. It’s a design flaw in a design book. Go figure. That’s not insurmountable, though: there are photos enough to make this coffee-table book a can’t-miss full of fun. If you need your house to feel groovier no matter when it was constructed, “Making Midcentury Modern” may be key. . By: Always Overbooked... questions all couples should ask themselves:

Why is it often easier to view the weaknesses in other people’s relationships than it is to cast a critical eye over one’s own? Friends have sought my advice on partnerships which were – to my eyes – clearly going off the rails but to which they still cling, oblivious. ‘Love is blind’ possibly plays a large part in it. I have sometimes been guilty of being so head over heels in love – or infatuation – to overlook the fact the feelings are not being reciprocated. Other times, I’ve allowed niggling little concerns to eat away at me, choosing to stay silent rather than rock the boat. Or I simply postpone awkward conversations until they can be postponed no longer: sometimes beyond the point when they’ve already begun to dangerously erode feelings of affection. Sometimes, we just don’t want to admit failure. ‘What would we like to do differently?’ One piece of advice that I read from psychotherapist Michael Dale Kimmel struck me in its simplicity. ‘I’ve worked with couples who once a month have a date to discuss their relationship,’ he said.

‘There are three questions I recommend: 1. ‘What’s going well in our relationship? 2. ‘What’s going not so well? 3. ‘And what would we like to do differently?’ I’m single at the moment, as I’ve written about before, which perhaps makes it easier for me to comment on the helpfulness of this advice. I do remember that when you’re in a relationship, it can be harder to ask such questions. I remember with a couple of ex boyfriends, to make any suggestion things were less than perfect would provoke extreme reactions. This could range from ignoring me for several days to displays of intense possessiveness as they feared they were about to lose me (the possessiveness did eventually drive me away). Obviously, it helps if you are dating someone who has the maturity and skills to have a conversation about your relationship, and is willing to do so on a regular basis rather than waiting until crisis points are reached.

“It helps if you are dating someone who has the maturity and skills to have a conversation about your relationship, and is willing to do so on a regular basis.”

How preferable, and possibly smoother things would run, if we did remind ourselves to have such conversations on a monthly basis. To

attempt to nip concerns in the bud before they blossom into relationshipthreatening flashpoints. What would be better? Telling your partner one month you’re a feeling bit fed up with your sexual routine and find yourself tempted to look elsewhere, or waiting a year and telling them you’ve been having an affair for the past few months?

Nothing besides a parting of ways, that is.

Talking helps but doesn’t ensure you’ll stay together

You might think the idea of a monthly analysis is unromantic or unnecessary. One thing I have learned is that any long-term relationship takes work. Better to get into the habit sooner rather than later.

Of course, talking about issues is no guarantee you will stay together – as any therapist will confirm. People can fall out of love or decide they want something so different that no relationship modifications will encompass them.

And some people might find themselves already having regular discussions about every aspect of their lives together. It might be a weekly or daily part of their relationship DNA. But looking back, I wish I’d had the awareness and courage to have a monthly relationship check-up.

INTERNASH-IONAL

FIERCENESS

By Mike Bahr

EX Experience aka DEX is serving fierceness worldwide with the release of “Internash,” the first single from his upcoming album. Combining catchy lyrics with bitchy base, the empowering, feel good, party track has a 90’s sound set against a sassy, modern day kick.   Written and produced by DEX and DJ/Producer Omri Anghel, the song is about embracing the world as your playground.  It draws inspiration from the pre-millennium supermodels who mesmerized, amused and enthralled every time they walked the runways and graced the covers of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar magazines.  “I long for the return of the 90’s supermodel,” muses DEX. “When gorgeous ladies like Naomi Campbell would be in Italy with Mario Testino shooting a Valentino campaign in the morning, then whisked off by helicopter to slay the catwalk for a Chanel Couture show in Paris and the next day, they’re celebrating with friends on a yacht off the coast of the Maldives.  The supermodels were here, there, everywhere: they were Internash!” he laughs.  “Internash” by DEX Experience is being distributed by Ditto Music, and is available on

iTunes. “Unfortunately the era of the supermodel will never happen again,” DEX continues, lamenting how reality stars and actors dominate the covers of today’s fashion magazines.  “Few of today’s so-called covergirls have the glamour, the grace, the power of Naomi, Christy, Cindy and Linda Evangelista.” But that doesn’t mean the world has to lose its “Internash”.  DEX says its up to the people to take the power.  Each of us must realize our true life’s potentials and shine bright like the diamonds of the 90’s supermodel.  He points to how he and many of his friends live the “Internash” lifestyle. “When writing the song, I had my long-time friend Joseph Turla in mind.  Twenty years ago, we were young kids in New York, jet setting around the world, performing opening acts for artists such as Whitney Houston, Madonna,  Grace Jones, Cher, Bette Midler, Jennifer Lopez, and Beyonce, to name a few. As well, hosting at fashion parties for major designers such as Versace, Dolce & Gabanna, and Marc Jacobs. Today, I own my makeup line and Joseph is a celebrity fashion stylist for clients like Justin Timberlake and Joan Jett.  We often find ourselves at shoots on opposite

sides of the globe. I might be in Tel Aviv planning the next season’s campaign, while he’s in Sweden, styling Justin. We’re not fashion models, but we live like the world is meant to be explored.  We serve it, turn it out, then walk and that is Internash.”    DEX was born in Trinidad & Tobago.   At 5, he moved to New York City with his parents.  They steered him in the direction of dance and musical theatre, enrolling him at La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts (the school made famous by the TV show, “Fame”).  There, he majored in classical ballet.  After graduation, he attended Marymount Manhattan college, majoring in musical theatre. Young, sexy, and with an infectious

personality, DEX found his way into the NYC underground nightlife, carrying on with the likes of Amanda Lepore, Candis Cayne and Laverne Cox.  Nightlife would help to clear his path towards fashion and beauty.  “There is no place like the NYC nightlife when it comes to networking with top professionals that lead to real jobs and opportunities,” he says.    DEX is the founder of DEX New York, a healthy makeup line formulated with good-for-your-skin ingredients, high performance standards, photographic qualities, and an extensive skin tone shade range for women from Sweden to Sudan. “I strive for women of all colors, around the globe, to discover their true beauty from within and look flawless, naturally!” This year, DEX New York celebrates its ten year anniversary, a major milestone for any young company.   In that time, DEX New York has set the standard for the makeup, no make-up look and helped launch an entirely new beauty industry category:  makeup with skincare benefits.  “The success of the company has taught me to believe in myself; to never dim my light for anyone. We are all so much more powerful than we believe ourselves to be.  We all must realize that there are no limits. That’s the real message of Internash.” He views the song as both a throwback to and an evolution from RuPaul’s famous song about the runway “Supermodel (You better Work)”. “For some, Internash will re-light the fire of fierceness we first felt when Ru commanded us to work.  For millennials and Generation Z who have only heard about those days and never got to experience them, Internash will be their chance to snap their fingers on the dance floor, bitch-face each other and just laugh up a storm to the beat of a liberating party anthem.”  “Internash” by DEX Experience is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and most online retailers and streaming sites.  Visit: https://dexexperience.com https://dexnewyork.com Follow:  Facebook @dexexperience Instagram @thedexexperience Twitter: @dexnewyork

Gay News At A Glance

Dating apps are big business. A Chinese company recently paid, in two investment rounds, almost $250million to purchase Grindr, while Hornet raised $8million in investment money from another company. However, news of a new dating app has raised a few eyebrows. A press release for DaddyBear describes it as ‘a private gay dating app that

connects gay sugar daddies and gay bears. ‘It offers all the possibilities for wealthy gay daddies and healthy gay men or bears.’ The brand’s Marketing Manager, referred to only as Robert, says, ‘Our team behind this gay dating app has spent a long time studying people in gay support and discovering the factors that makes gay sugar daddies and gay bears truly compatible, which is the idea of creating DaddyBear.’ On the app’s desktop site, it explains the reasons why younger gay men should think about dating a rich sugar daddy. ‘Gay Daddies can share sexual experiences with you and help find out your special identity, because they have more life experiences to help you explore more new areas you never know. ‘Most mature gay daddies grew up under the macro environment of AIDS

epidemic and scare, so they know how to protect themselves and you, and enjoy safe sex with you.’ It goes on to say: ‘Gay Daddies are successful or rich men who have more money and social wealth than you do. They did never marry and will life with you without kids, so they must be happy to give you more support and help including your occupational plan.’ The rise in sugar daddy apps is not new. However, the marketing of DaddyBear has been questioned by some. ‘My alarm bells start to ring when I see people on apps talking about “healthy” gay men. Most of the time this seems to be a code for HIV-negative,’ says Matthew Hodson, Executive Director of HIV advocacy and education organization NAM. ‘People with HIV on treatment now have a near normal life expectancy. What’s more, effective HIV

treatment means we can’t pass the virus on to our sexual partners. The greatest challenge for many people living with HIV now is dealing with HIV stigma, which is fuelled by outdated attitudes, ignorance and fear. ‘Almost every person I know who lives openly with HIV has been rejected because of their status. People are often shamed and insulted on dating apps if they disclose. I fear that apps for “healthy gay men” may encourage these attitudes.’

the violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend. Rightwing protestors, white nationalists and Neo-Nazis had gathered to protest the removal of a statue of confederate general Robert E. Lee They were met by a large police presence and counter protestors rallying against hate and white supremacy. In the violence that erupted, one woman, Heather Heyer, was killed and scores of others were injured.

President Donald Trump has been widely criticized for his response to the protests. His initial response was to condemn both group of protestors. Many have slammed his seeming reluctance to denounce the white supremacists. Recently the President tweeted his sorrow at seeing statues being taken down. Apple CEO Tim Cook sent an email to employees Wednesday night. It said: Team, Like so many of you, equality is at the core of my beliefs and values. The events of the past several days have been deeply troubling for me, and I’ve heard from many people at Apple who are saddened, outraged or confused. What occurred in Charlottesville has no place in our country. Hate is a cancer, and left unchecked it destroys everything in its path. History has taught us this time and

time again, both in the United States and countries around the world. We must not witness or permit such hate and bigotry in our country, and we must be unequivocal about it. This is not about the left or the right, conservative or liberal. It is about human decency and morality. I disagree with the president and others who believe that there is a moral equivalence between white supremacists and Nazis, and those who oppose them by standing up for human rights. Equating the two runs counter to our ideals as Americans. Apple has led by example, and we’re going to keep doing that. Dr. Martin Luther King said, Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” So, we will continue to speak up. Apple will play an important role in bringing about positive change.

However, Obama will be the biggest political name the show has snagged and given her popularity, it’s not unsurprising there are plenty of expectations riding on her appearance. ‘Everyone associated with the show is so excited about landing Michelle,’ the insider further said. ‘They think the episode will be comedy gold and a ratings hit.’ While it’s unknown which episode Obama will appear in, it likely will have a political slant. However, the insider notes Obama ‘will not be taking any personal jabs at President Donald Trump. We’re excited to see Obama on the show, especially since we know how funny and charismatic she can be. Paris. Couples who participated in the study had different HIV statues – one of the men was living with HIV, while the other was HIV negative. During the study, the men participated 17,000 acts of anal sex without a condom. None of those acts resulted in HIV transmission. HIV treatment works by suppressing the level of virus in a person living with HIV’s body. The treatment works so the immune system damage is halted and even reversed. When treatment is consistently taken daily, the virus levels become so low that they become undetectable in the blood.
