Buckle Up Amanda Lepore Takes Fans on A Wild, Fun Ride with Her Brand New Single By Tom Corliss Photo: Josef Jasso

And just as I am easy on the eyes, ‘Buckle Up’ is easy on the ears.

Buckle Up Amanda Lepore’s “Buckle Up” is flirty and playful song, with a burlesque, retropop swing. It is the first single from her soon-to-be-released LEPORE. EP and the first original solo release from the world’s mega-famous transsexual since “I… Amanda Lepore,” her acclaimed 2011 album debut that featured the smash hits, “My Hair Looks Fierce,” “Champagne,” “Turn Me Over” and “My Pussy.” “My goal with ‘Buckle Up’ is to whip naughty boys and girls around and leave ‘em asking the questions they don’t want their mothers knowing the answers to,” coos Lepore. “The song is sexy, bubbly, and takes on the night like me. “And just as I am easy on the eyes, ‘Buckle Up’ is easy on the ears,” she adds.

During the song’s creation, the team knew they could not simply duplicate the achievements of the “I…Amanda Lepore” album. In order to capture Amanda’s million-watt personality in song, ”We concentrated on figuring out the perfect equation that paired a sweet hook with a bouncy groove, to really showcase Amanda‘s devilish side,” says Knifekick. Their aim was to marry Amanda’s love of Hollywood glamour and vintage bombshells with kick-up-your-Louboutins humor and a showgirls-worthy groove. They needed just the right amount of camp that would compliment the canon of classics Amanda performs in her nightclub shows. “We think we nailed it in ‘Buckle Up,’” says an enthusiastic Coleman. “We’re excited for fans to hear the next evolution of music from the hardest working gal in nightlife.”

“Buckle Up” was written and produced by RedTop (“Convertible”), Knifekick, Ted Ottaviano, DJ Angelo “Pepe,” indie-pop ingenue Megan Vice and Lepore’s long-time The official audio video musical collaborator, Bill Coleman. montage clip, edited by Scott J. BOOK REVIEW

Double-A. It has many uses, that little

word-dash-letter. It’s good for future baseball players. Good for a pre-teen girl. Great, if you’re a student trying to bring those grades up. And, as you’ll see in “Buzz: A Stimulating History of the Sex Toy” by Hallie Lieberman, if you’re an adult, double-A is something you never want to run out of…

> CREDIT | Author: Hallie Lieberman > “Buzz: A Stimulating History of the Sex Toy”

A dozen years ago, to make a little money, Hallie Lieberman found an unusual job: she was a homeparty sex toy salesperson in a state where the selling of sex toys was illegal. Ever afraid of being arrested, she stuck to the “script” that the company gave her; it was stilted and full of euphemisms, and the job was demeaning and embarrassing. She felt like she “wasn’t actually teaching people anything.” From her PhD studies, Lieberman learned that “sex toys were ancient.” Some thirty millennia ago, ancient Germans carved phallic objects, though some historians argue that sex mightn’t have been their intention. At any rate, the practice of using artificial devices for sexual pleasure spread across Europe and into Asia and, soon after the Middle Ages, mentions of sex toys began showing up in literature. Closer to home and beginning in Victorian times, rectal dilators and vibrators were made in the U.S. and sold as “medical devices,” approved by doctors; the former were made by “respected rubber companies,” while the latter were available for discreet purchase in department stores for decades. Until laws were created against it, you could even have the devices mailed to your home; later, to circumvent those and other laws meant to keep sex toys out of

the hands of everyday citizens, vibrators, dildoes, and dilators were sold as “novelties.” In 1965, a ventriloquist who was an engineer by profession started manufacturing sex toys; in the early 1970s, a paraplegic welder began making them for women, and advising the disabled on their use. Others joined the revolution until, in 1972 (and though they’d long been a staple of sleaze), sex toys gained respectability inside a narrow waterbed-store-turnedsex-shop run by two gay men, hetero people welcome… Of course, there’s so much more to this story but here’s one interesting thing about this book: while you might think it’d be titillating with maybe a few nudge-nudge-winks, that’s not the case. Author Hallie Lieberman doesn’t do that to her readers. Instead, what you get is exactly what its subtitle promises: “Buzz” is a history of sex toys, from ancient times to modern day, and its use by straight people, the disabled, the LGBT community, and feminists. Through the narrative, you’ll see how advocates tied sex toys to equality and self-confidence, and how the struggle to make the devices acceptable unfolded but is still not over (including a surprisenot-surprise toward the end). That’s serious stuff and Lieberman offers it in a well-rounded way, though not without lightheartedness when appropriate. This isn’t a book to shock – it’s meant to inform and that’s accomplished, enjoyably. The prurient, the curious, and popculture fans will love “Buzz,” no batteries required.

Why 2018 Is Your Year Of Bottoming A few years ago, getting fucked was a chore, something my boyfriend and I had to schedule the weekend around. I had accepted the notion that porn stars were not like real people — they were porn stars because of some biological difference between me and them, some genetic ability to take cock like I couldn’t, like I would never be able to. This was easy to accept. Porn isn’t reality. It mocks reality, laying its beautiful bodies next to my common flab. It was easy for me to accept that I would never be like them. But I was wrong. The house we were living in was a reclaimed stable house in Savannah. The house opened to a private garden, walled-in by four houses with no windows looking out on our secluded grove of ferns and trees, bird cages, dogwoods, and orchids. You stumbled down the narrow stone lane that opened into a hidden garden. It surprised us every time. I lived with two men — one who owned the house, and one who was dating me. We had no air conditioning. The house was miserably hot, and we were always naked or close to it. My life was going nowhere, and we were fighting every other day. I was working at Barnes & Noble in the part of Savannah you don’t see, past the touristy part, the pretty part. I was relegated to the strip mall side of town, the shitty suburban sprawl with rapidturnover restaurants, tire shops, diners and gas stations. All my friends knew me as the sex-positive guy in town — which some read as “slut.” I was embarrassed to reveal every weekend to the man I loved that sex-positivity did not equate to sexual prowess — that my body hadn’t caught up to my mind. I was unskilled and struggling. I wanted so much sex, but the end result was always a messy, time-consuming, painful night. I cried in the shower once or twice because I couldn’t get clean and my boyfriend was in the bedroom, waiting. Near the end of the summer, I had had enough. A lot happened in the following year — a failed moved to San Francisco, a more successful move to Los Angeles — that I would later see as my year of bottoming. It was frightening and exciting, and I think at the time I knew I was on the cusp of my gay life, my adult life. I was doing too much too young to really appreciate any of it, but I got better. Thrown into circuit parties and sex parties across two California cities was a crash course in bravery — which, for those of us who will at some point have to douche in a grimy public bathroom with the throbbing bass from the other side of the wall ringing in our ears, is the same thing as getting better at bottoming.

It takes bravery to put yourself in these absurd situations and figure them out. You have to be willing to take embarrassments. You have to accept a certain faultiness of the body. You learn to trust it and take risks with it. You’ll find that the potential for awesome bottoming experiences — getting group-fucked by porn stars in the dark room of the loudest party you’ve ever been to — outweighs the possibility you might shit on someone’s dick, or be a disappointing bottom because you can’t take his huge cock. Most tops don’t freak out when they encounter shit. Most good ones know what they’re getting into. But what if he does, as some tops have done on me? Come on. He’s assfucking you, dude. If he has a problem with the possibility of shit, he’s a fool. Then there’s that other thing, that worrying about whether or not you can take it, your fear of whether or not you’ll get hurt, your insecurity about whether or not you’ll be able to relax and loosen up and enjoy it, particularly when he’s hot, and you’re nervous and you want it. Look, you’re allowed to admit that something’s big. You’re allowed to be nervous and tell him to go slow. You’re allowed to struggle on his cock. No one expects you to be superhuman — but you do need to learn trust and surrender, handing over your body to someone who may or may not hurt it, and embracing the fear and wonder of exchange. There is always some risk of pain in anal sex. That’s built in. But the capacity for pleasure — true, genuine pleasure, the kind that makes you orgasm hands-free and moan your heart out — is massive, more than doctors or info sites or even sterile sex professionals might have you think. The capacity for pleasure is immense, and it happens when you let go. Bottoming doesn’t really happen by surrendering your butt — it happens by surrendering your head. When you do, you’ll be surprised how much you can do, how hard you can take it, how big you can take it, pain-free. That wasn’t the year I was the best bottom, or learned everything. That was simply the year that I wanted it. Skill came later — what I needed was the hunger. I was facing a breakup, which happened, and then I was facing myself as a sort-of adult in a new place. Throwing myself into these situations was my way of asserting myself and testing my willingness to work with my body. Even if that meant painful, messy failure, I was going to go for it rather than fear it. If you’re in more or less the same boat I was in, don’t worry. You can — and will — learn the technical skill. That’s not what you need to get started. Whether your nervousness is in douching or taking big dicks, powerbottoming or submitting, group sex or solo, you can learn the how-tos and mechanics later. But first, you have to set your mind to the task. You’re going to do this, and it’s going to take a year. No topping allowed — this is your year of bottoming.

The Art of Balancing Your Life By Joshua Neal Photo: PR, Teamm8

Examining Internal and External Factors The reason why many are imbalanced is that they focus on one factor over another. An example: if you focus on your work over your relationship, you create an imbalance because you are focusing more on external matters.

Internal Factors – and How to Improve Them Mind Meditate more. Focus on your breathing to control your mind. Think outside the box and challenge your mind intellectually.

Soul This is your heart. This is where your feelings, your emotions, and your true intentions lie. Try sending more love out into the world. There is always room for more love. Also, try the act of forgiving.

Body Take good care of yourself physically. Eat healthy, exercise more.

16: January 12, 2018

What does it mean to have a balanced life? It means that you have a good handle on all that life has to bring, and you don’t feel that your mind, body or soul is overloaded. You are at ease, grounded, calm and non-reactive to things that are just out of your control. Most importantly, you are aware of how to create that sacred space in your life for elements that truly serve you, and you know how to let go of the things that don’t.

External Factors – and How to Improve Them Career/Work Having high career goals and setting standards for yourself to be the best you can be.

Family/Friends Taking time out for your friends and family is beneficial for achieving a balanced life as long as you don’t neglect yourself. Taking care of family responsibilities is important.

Social Activities Indulging in your social desires. This may seem easy, but a lot of us tend to put more focus here than taking some time for ourselves. Social media or any form of social desires that are fun is ok but when you begin to allocate too much time to them can lead to bad habits.

Bringing Balance to Your Life To obtain a balanced life, neither the internal or external factors should outweigh the other. However, there will be times where we all get pulled in one of these directions a little more than the others, which can cause unease and make you feel like you’re not at peace with yourself. Here are five ways to bring balance to your life to create better alignment.

Admit Acknowledge that you feel uneasy. Acknowledge every single thought, emotion and body sensation. Be honest and think about areas of your life that you are neglecting.

Take Inventory What factors (internal or external) are you

giving too much time to? Are there areas you could spend more time in?

Make a Plan Make a list of how you want to balance your life. Have a plan, and set goals that can be achieved.

Take Action Go for what you know. You know what you need to do, so start doing it. If not, get help, and seek advice.

Accountability Tell someone what you are doing. Let a friend or family member know so that they can help hold you accountable. Finding balance can be hard so it’s great to have someone to talk to especially during hard times.

Letting Go Examining those internal and external factors to achieving a balanced life is important, but if you are still holding on to your past, it will be very difficult not only to achieve balance but to move forward in life. When you learn how to let go of the past, you are creating balance but more importantly peace. You don’t have to live your life feeling sorry for your past; you can just let go. Yes, I know it’s easier said than done. It’s a process, but you can do it. Once you have your internal and external factors aligned correctly, you become more aware of what you are holding on to. Your past doesn’t define who you are as a person; it’s just the past. You have to learn to let go. Letting go of hurt is a process, but just like finding balance in your life, it can be accomplished. Creating balance in our life is going to take time and effort just like anything else in life. If you stay the course and live with good intentions, the balance will come - just continue to examine your internal and external factors and let go of things that indeed do not serve you.

As many jump-start the new year with fitness and health resolutions, why not do the same thing for your skin and skincare? How is your skin doing? Is it time to rethink your skincare regimen and habits to get your skin looking better than ever in 2018? Here are a few tips and new habits for a good-looking year.

by Mik Hyldebrandt Take Inventory

Simplify

Take a good look at what products you have on your shelf, and discard any that are too old – especially if they have been opened already. Clean up the remaining products from dried-in residues – they will instantly feel fresher.

Stick to the fewer products that you know work for you and forego and endless routine that layers skincare on to the skin. A few well-chosen products will do just as well - and the likelihood of you sticking to caring for your skin is even greater.

Switch Up Your Cleanser Keeping your skin clean is essential, and your skin will love a break from the trusty old blend for a new and refreshing formula.

Look at Your Skin Concerns

Instanatural Glycolic Cleanser, $20

Introduce Something New A new addition to your skincare regimen might be the thing to make you excited about caring for your skin again. May we suggest a mask for an instant, short-term effect perfect for switching things up a bit. Baxter of California Clay Mask, $20 18: January 12, 2018

Take a good look at your skin and think about what concerns you, and what you would like to change. More firmness, fewer wrinkles, better texture, clearer skin? With an end goal in mind, it is easier to find the right products to fit in your new year’s skincare regimen. Lab Series Power Brightening Serum, $59

Hey Girl Hey! Holler Poodles! Well now that the holidays are over, its time to get back to laying around the trailer goals! I hate when people say “Don’t you just have a feeling 2018 is gonna be a great year?” I was pissed I rolled over and squished my doughnuts so excited when Fenuxe magazine called and offered to set me and my best friend Selma B. Hole up to meet a trainer at Piedmont Park to ascertain our fitness levels. While not everyone has my broken hourglass figure, poor Selma looks like a Build a Bear stuffing goat stuck in her ass and was left on for a week. Bless her heart! I love her like a sister. In preparation, Fenuxe was kind enough to send us a variety of Fabletics from that skinny Kate Hudson lady but we couldn’t figure out how to get them on. I wore the leggings as a headband and Selma wore hers as a thong. I didn’t have the heart to tell her to put something else on. When we were ready, we told Lyft to drive as close to the park as possible walked a mile to the park. Selma and I had to sit down and eat a 3 piece, fries and shake catch our breath. Finally, our trainer called and asked us to meet him on the track. Our trainer was a hot man named Marcus who was decked out in his spandex and what looked like a nice piece of pipe. I wondered if he might like to unclog my sewer. Selma and I were doing all kinds of exercises trying to show off our feminine wares when Marcus asked us to do jumping jacks. Well all of a sudden Selma’s tube top snapped and hit me in the head causing me to fall forward and Marcus to impale his manhood in me. It felt like he had popped a pimple and I screamed out of disappointment. Marcus was visibly shaken clearly turned on but slightly embarrassed and asked if we could find someone else because he didn’t sign up for this shit reconvene at a later time. Selma and I cannot wait to continue with our fitness goals.! Love and lashes,

Clint at Atlanta Costume recommended I try Kryolan’s TV Paint Stick. Girls, it is THE BOMB!!! It will give you all the coverage you need and then some!! Plus, for the price, you get double the amount you would from other stick foundations.Mary Edith Pitts Grade A+++
