Fashion

Mikkel Hyldebrandt, Fashion Director

When summer hits Atlanta residents from Buckhead to the EAV will be sporting shorts. In fact, most people will exchange long pants for their shorter cousins until we hit fall! But as always, there are a few pointers you should take note of when choosing shorts for this summer – and as always FENUXE is here to help!

CLOSE THE GAP The proper fit for a pair of shorts is probably the most important thing to remember. Gapingly large leg openings, shorts that are too long or a sagging waistline will not only make you look unshapely, but there is the imminent risk of making you look like a big boy – and adolescence is just not sexy.

AVOID ATHELTIC SHORTS This season’s shorts tend to be dressier and more in the chino style even though there are a few good jersey options as well. They’re made to look more dressy than athletic. And, of course, a wellfitting cargo short or a classic khakis are always good options.

1.

2.

3.

ABOVE THE KNEE At best your shorts should hit you just above the knee. Going below will shorten your legs visually. Going way above the knee can look good if you have great legs, but it can quickly become a little bit too flashy.

5.

TRY A COLOR OR PATTERN Don't be afraid to wear colorful shorts or sport a pattern instead of on your t-shirt or shirt. Whenever you choose wear bold colors or patterns, make sure your overall look doesn't get too 'busy.’ This can best be avoided by limiting patterns or colors to one clothing item.

Products

THE For decades Richie Arpino has been creating amazing hairstyles and setting the trend for well-cut hair at his Buckhead salon. now, the hair stylist to the stars has launched a product line of hair care and styling products that are simply named 'It'. So we’re taking a look at some of his new products that are a perfect for men's hairstyles. the entire 'It' range contains 28 products that each target custom care and styling for any hair type. However, richie Arpino assures me that men's hairstyles don't require a ton of products – especially if the groundwork of getting a good haircut is in place. So, which products will work best for men’s hair? richie Arpino hand-picked the selection of products below because they can be used for any guy’s head. let’s start out with the basics of a quality shampoo and conditioner.

'IT' FACTOR Mikkel Hyldebrandt, Fashion Director

the ‘Soy Protein Shampoo It’ and ‘Peppermint condition It’ are a great duo for cleansing, conditioning and balancing your hair and scalp. the shampoo is mild enough for everyday use and the added protein strengthens and moisturizes every strand leaving the hair looking shiny and feeling light. the conditioner is infused with peppermint, which will not only give you a pleasant tingle, but also help condition and balance your scalp. moving on to styling there is the ‘release It’, which is a fluid gellike product that will give longer hair separation and definition. It can be used in damp hair for overall definition and used in dry hair where it will create additional texture. Simply apply it where you need it.

Another great product for controlling your hair is ‘Smooth It’, which will smooth and straighten frizzy hair in need of softening. use it when your hair is damp or wet hair and style your hair as your usually do. for the best effect, use a blowdryer because the product will react better with a little heat. If you are like most guys, you have areas where your hair is less thinning and less full than – and here is thick-It to the rescue! the thickening cream add incredible fullness to the hair and is applied when your hair is dry. It also gives hair a lived-in texture and thickness. thick-It is an amazing product and will work wonders for practically every guy out there. for the final styling richie Arpino recommends touch-It - his soft and flexible moulding mud. It has a medium matte finish which means accidentally using too much won’t ruin your look. It’s practically

invisible after being worked into dry hair to create your final look. Another great thing about this line of products is that you really only need very small amounts – a little dab really goes a long way! they all have pleasant but never overpowering scents, which is always a plus for most guys out there – you really don't want your hair to be heavily fragranced! Plus, all of the products are priced in the neighborhood of twenty dollars so you won't break the bank when purchasing these high quality products. Want great hair? then we highly recommend that you head up to richie Arpino's salon in Buckhead and get your 'It' factor now! richie Arpino 'It' haircare and styling are available exclusively at richie Arpino Salon in Buckhead. Arpinosalon.net

TIPS ON STYLING YOUR HAIR • When using just about any styling product it's a good idea to apply from front to back. This way you don’t run the risk of accidentally applying too much product in the front where it's obvious to everyone. • Spend time working the product into your hair. The product will function better and be less obvious if you’ve properly worked in to your hair. • Warm up your product between your palms and not your fingers. Between your palms it will be evenly distributed as opposed to getting caked up between your fingers. • Less is more. It's easier to apply just a little bit more product than it is to remove it – the latter usually requires washing your hair again...

Sing For Your Life D. David Kinney, Digital Editor

The lights are down and echos from hundreds of different conversations are mixing together and falling on stage. The audience is out there, but they’re just shadows from where you’re standing center stage. You can’t see them and they can’t see you. Then without warning the sound of colliding drumsticks cuts through the theatre like a knife and a blinding light thrusts you in the spotlight. You’re on. It’s a vulnerable moment and once you’ve experienced it you’ll immediately know if a life on stage is right for you.

Sing For Your Life, a local singing competition, provides talented Atlanta artists the opportunity to experience this firsthand. The live show recently wrapped up its second season and Atlanta singer and actress Christy Clark was named the Season 2 winner. Her journey began last year when she filmed herself performing a version of Chaka Khan’s “Through The Fire” from the album “I Feel For You” and submitted it to the show’s producers. “An awesome friend of mine, Kachiri Ransom, suggested that I audition via facebook,” Christy told FENUXE Magazine during a recent interview, “Prior to her suggestion, I concluded I needed three specific things: a stronger online presence, a huge networking opportunity and a platform. Sing For Life provided all those things. I figured I should give the competition a try.” Today she’s definitely glad she gave the competition a try. The show’s producers liked what they saw in her video and offered her a spot in Sing For Your Life’s live auditions. She sailed through the live auditions without a sweat and quickly established herself as the competition’s front runner. Week after week Christy impressed both the Sing For Your Life mentors and audience with songs 16 : May 22, 2014

like Whitney Houston’s “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” and One Direction’s “Story Of My Life.” However, the competition was fierce and talented singers like Dominic Greco gave Christy a run for her money. In fact, Christy never imagined that she would ultimately walk away with the title. “I never did. Honestly. I’m still in shock,” Christy remarked. Similar to the “The Voice,” Sing For Your Life provides the competing artists with industry mentors who judge each performance and take an active role in helping the competing artists hone their craft. This year’s mentors included the show’s executive producer Barry Brandon, singer and songwriter JL Rodriquez and award-winning choreographer Michael Robinson. “Support is everything,” Christy explained,

“The daily grind and hustle of the entertainment industry can be painful and discouraging. The mentors offered a fresh perspective on life and inspired a new hope. I truly enjoyed working with Toya Alexis from ‘Canadian Idol.’ She’s extremely inspirational and fabulous.” Now that the competition is over Christy is focused on her career. With both an acting and singing background the entertainment world is her oyster. In fact, she’s using both skills in her current project. “I’m currently appearing in “Cowgirls” at the Horizon Theatre,” Christy revealed, “I was called to audition for the show and after two rounds of callbacks Lisa Adler called to offer me the role. I gladly and humbly accepted.” Cowgirls is a hilarious look at what happens when classical music meets that sweet country music twang. Christy plays a classical musician who performs as part of the Coghill Trio. Everything is great until one day the group is mistaken for the Cowgirl Trio and they’ve got to channel their inner Chopin into a rockin’ country concert. You can see Christy in “Cowgirls” at the Horizon Theatre from now until June 29. For more information and to purchase tickets visit horizontheatre.com.

Going

Gaga Over

Cary Nokey By Paul Hutnick

18 : May 22, 2014

As a major label record executive, Rob Fusari produced "Bootylicious” for Destiny’s Child, "Love That Man" for Whitney Houston and "Wild Wild West" for Will Smith. However, he’s best known for discovering Lady Gaga. He co-wrote and produced five songs on his former girlfriend’s "The Fame" album, including the smash hit “Paparazzi”.

FENUXE.COM : 19

“After

I developed Gaga, I began to realize I had reached my peak as a record producer,” Rob Fusari explains. “All of the new artists that I looked at after her seemed ordinary. No one had the next big thing that music, art and fashion were craving. I could write a killer song, do a stellar production, but at the end of the day I couldn’t find that artist who could bring the magic to the vocal and stage.” He likens it to being in Oz, hoping to meet the wizard, but never finding the Emerald City. In time, he concluded that if he could not find the next big thing then maybe he should be it. That is when Rob’s shell cracked to reveal 8 Bit, the lead singer of the visually mesmerizing theatrical music group he named Cary Nokey. It is more than a musical act,” he continues. “Cary Nokey is a show meant to keep fans wondering, gasping, excited for what could possibly come next. It’s not just an EDM rock opera. It's a movement.” Their debut single, “B Who U R”, is out now. Why did you change your name to 8 Bit? I was always 8 bit. I’m not sure why 8 Bit changed his name to Rob. 20 : May 22, 2014

What exactly is an 8 Bit? A bit rate is the number of electronic elements processed per unit of time. As a producer, I often distorted my audio elements to that rate. I don't like high fidelity or clean sounding records. I like dirt, grime. It always feels more rock ‘n roll with the grease on it. Do you mind if people call you Rob? I cringe whenever someone calls me Rob. I know it’s not an easy thing for others to understand but 8 Bit is who I am and I cannot accept being called who I am not. Some in the LGBT community can relate to the feeling. Being trapped inside your own body is torture. I was never able to understand or come to terms with certain elements that existed in me. I was always trying to be what I thought I needed to be in order to achieve a certain standard in life. On the outside it seemed like I had everything, but inside was a person being kept in a secret place. Does that secret person get to escape when you’re on stage? There are certain things that happen in the show that even I am not able to explain. For whatever reason, there are times I come out of body. It is such a relaxing, enjoyable feeling and a place I don't want to come back from. Its like

the stars align and I am not the puppet master, I am the puppet in a whole other realm of synergy and magic. Who inspires you? People who take life and commercialism to a place all their own. People who authentically beat to their own drum. It has to be real. Trying to be different is so typical and uninspiring. Where does your fascination with glamour stem? I always had a fascination for women's clothing and makeup. My mother was a makeup artist who worked with Marilyn Monroe. She would test out her latest cosmetic products on me. She had three sons, I was the youngest and by that time she just said screw it, this one is going to have to be the daughter. I have altered many of her clothes and I wear them at shows. Is it true that as a child, you snuck into Studio 54? I did! I snuck in for about twenty minutes until I was caught and escorted out. What I saw changed my life forever. There was an energy and culture that I could not describe in words to anyone. It took my breath away. It was a drug; it was a dream and the music playing were sounds I had never heard. It was sexy like I had never known sexy to be. NYC had its finger on the pulse at the time and I wanted some of that NYC bloodline in me.

How were you introduced to music? I was introduced to music by a family friend who played for me on an upright piano. I was 8 years old and that day, the skies opened up and life began. I started classical piano a week later. Within four months, I was competing across the United States in piano recital competitions. I placed first and won a chance to play Carnegie Hall in NYC.

Without Hats meets the Cure meets 2014 Electronica. Is “B Who U R” your personal story? It’s my story. It’s everyone’s story. Being who you are has nothing to do with clothing, hair, friends, money or your job. It’s all state of mind. If you’re there already: congratulations. If you’re trying to get there: lets hang.

Cary Nokey’s debut single, “B Who U R”, is out now. Visit CaryNokey.com

Why won’t the world allow people to be who they are already? The ones who won’t are those scared to be who they are, so they have to keep others in that purgatory.

How did you learn to produce hit records? I learned to produce records by listening to records; that was the only school that ever made sense to me. After high school, I was accepted into Berkley College of Music with a full Scholarship but I didn’t take it. You’ve written and produced some of the most popular tracks in pop, R&B and hip hop. Yet, your sound goes in a whole new direction. I describe it as 80's Men

Have any of your past relationships done that to you? Oh yes. Here’s my advice: As soon as you feel that energy from someone holding you back, run fast, run hard.

COPENHAGEN DREAMING

Mikkel Hyldebrandt, Fashion Director

i grew up in denmark and lived many years in copenhagen – the colorful capital of the country. this spring i went back for the first time in almost two years. it was really great to wander about in a city that i know so very well, but it also gave me the privilege of experiencing my own city as a tourist now that i call atlanta home. so, with that in mind; here’s a guide to my copenhagen.

Nyhavn New Harbour

Museums There are many great museums in Copenhagen, but if don’t have time to see everything, these two should not be missed.

The Touristy Stuff Copenhagen is an old and beautiful city with lots of historic fun sights to be experienced. Here are a few can’t-misses. NYHAVN The harbor waterfront in the middle of the city (Copenhagen like Amsterdam is made up largely of canals) is one to experience. Take a stroll along the water and do as the Danes do: buy a couple of beers at a nearby kiosk and sip them sitting at the edge of the water - just don’t get lured into the overpriced tourist traps along the way.

STATENS MUSEUM FOR KUNST (SMK) This is the state’s museum of art which houses the most comprehensive collection of art amassed by the Danish monarchs in the world. If you’re into European art history, this is for you! Sølvgade 48-50, DK-1307 Copenhagen K • smk.dk Tivoli

Going Out Copenhagen is an incredible place to out and party even though the city is going through a transition phase with gay and straight bars merging into one. This means there are far fewer gay bars than there were just five years ago, however, there are still great options to choose fun.

TIVOLI GARDENS This quaint garden in the middle of the city is actually the oldest amusement park in the world and dates back to 1843. If you’re not into rides, the garden features plenty of park milieu and great eateries for you to enjoy. Vesterbrogade 3, 1630 Copenhagen V • tivoli.dk RUNDETÅRN The tower was erected in the 17th century by King Christian IV. It served as an astronomical observatory and is known for its helical ascension, which takes seven turns. Once on top the tower offers great views of the city. Købmagergade 52A, 1150 Copenhagen K • rundetaarn.dk 24 : May 22, 2014

LOUISIANA MUSEUM OF MODERN ART You need to take a train to get to this gem, but the trip is definitely worth it. Louisiana was created in 1958 and has since served as a kind of mold for modern museums all over the world. The vast permanent collection of modern art is world-class and the temporary collections are always worth visiting. Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Gl Strandvej 13, DK-3050 Humlebæk, Denmark • louisiana.dk

CAFE OSCAR Located right next to city hall, this bar is the perfect mix of cafe, bar and lounge. Go here for a bite to eat at lunch-time or start the evening off with some choice drinks from the bar. Friday and Saturday nights usually feature a DJ to really get the party started. Rådhuspladsen 77, DK-1550 København K • oscarbarcafe.dk

The Round Tower Rundetaarn

G*A*Y CPH One of the newest additions to Copenhagen gay nightlife is the club G*A*Y CPH, which is a bar and nightclub located near Cafe Oscar. Go here to dance and hang out with all of the hot Danes. Vester Voldgade 10, DK-1552 Copenhagen K NEVER MIND BAR Without a doubt this is the locally favored bar where everybody tends to end up after a night of partying. Bordering on the kitschy this goodtime bar keeps the party going until the wee hours of the morning. Nørre Voldgade 2, 1358 Copenhagen K • nevermindbar.dk

Shopping To satisfy all of your shopping needs there is basically one place to go: Strøget! The car-free pedestrian street offers miles and miles of shopping whether you prefer small specialty boutiques or big department stores - you can find EVERYTHING here. Eating Out Copenhagen is famous for it’s great restaurants. In fact, the city has held a steady spot at the top of restaurant charts for the last few years offering a surprising amount of Michelin-star restaurants. MICHELIN-STARRED MEALS If you want an exceptional meal (and bring lots of cash to pay for it), it is highly recommendable to try one of the 13 Michelin-starred restaurants in the city. Noma has been rated the number one restaurant in the world for years, but eateries Geranium, Era Ora, Relæ, Formel B or Kiin Kiin are also wonderful. Go to visitdenmark.com for lots more info.

Strøget

CAFE EUROPA 1989 Located in the middle of the vast pedestrian and shopping street of Strøget, Cafe Europa 1989 is probably the best located cafe in the city. They serve up traditional French cafe fare with a Danish twist and they have a great wine and beer selection. AMAGERTORV 1, Dk-1160 Copenhagen K • europa1989.dk

Cafe Europa

DANISH LUNCH When in Denmark you must try a traditional Danish lunch, which is probably the closest you'll get to a national dish. Don’t be afraid to try the herring or cured meats - it is really tasty! - and of course you wash it all down with plenty of beer and aquavit. There are many good choices, but Tivoli Hallen (not far from Tivoli Gardens) is exceptionally good. Vester Voldgade 91, 1552 København • tivolihallen.dk

Cars

Behind the Wheel By Caleb J. Spivak Founder, WhatNowAtlanta.com

VOLKSWAGEN EOS As warmer weather hit Atlanta this spring, I found myself jonesing for a convertible (my boyfriend Alex caught the fever, too!). But I wasn’t sure what car I wanted. I hadn’t a clue what brand, color, nada. All I did know was I wanted a hardtop convertible. At the thought of hardtops, I had visions of cruising down the Midtown Mile, top down, three gays in tow, blasting Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” in a three series BMW. But that’s not how the story ended. Those visions (and my lunch from Eats) passed rather quickly as Alex and I hit the road on a beautiful Saturday to go dealer hopping (it was actually raining and miserable, and easily the worst day to go convertible shopping). First, we made a pit stop into Global Imports (to scratch that itch) where their giant red “True Price” stickers would rub any penny-pinching Atlantan the wrong way. “Whaddya talking about? That’s the lowest price you can give me?”

We arrived at Volkswagen Marietta next and to our surprise we were introduced to the only hardtop convertible with a power sunroof – the Volkswagen Eos! That means whether the top is up or down, the sun can still shine in (great for a colder or rainy day, like the day we went car shopping).

Support System, Intelligent Crash Response System” and “Advanced Safety Cage.” From what I understand, if the car were to flip, metal rods would deploy like airbags from the four corners of the car creating a barrier between the passengers and the road (or ditch, or neighboring vehicle, etc.) – sounds safe to me!

Tim Frederick, our sales guy, was quick to give us a test drive, but reluctant to let me take the car on the highway (doing donuts in the parking lot has its disadvantages). Some of the immediately noticeable features (aside from the hardtop and panoramic sunroof) include generous room for four, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and the best media integration I have ever seen in an automobile. Not to mention, the Eos is comfortable and zippy (there are paddle shifters and a “sports” mode). Apparently, one of the key reasons for the engine's lively, responsive performance is that it produces 207 lb-ft of torque from just 1700 rpm, allowing for easy passing and exits from tight curves.

After consulting friends, family, Link (my black lab), Roxy (my Siberian husky) and Consumer Reports, I decided on the Eos, and I am thrilled with my choice.Tim threw in some rubber mats and I later had the windows tinted to give the Eos an even sportier look.

Next stop was Audi. With each new salesman One thing I hadn’t considered before exploring at each new dealership, we’d simply ask, the world of convertibles was safety. The “Where are your hardtop convertibles?” Audi, Eos is equipped with an “Automatic Rollover we now know, doesn’t manufacture one.

Cons? The top takes a full eighteen seconds to operate and don’t even think about opening or closing the roof at a stop light – you can’t move the car while the top is in motion.

Fetish Fighter By Paul Hutnick

34 : May 22, 2014

Barebacking videos continue to be a controversial topic in the adult community. The latest industry insider to take a public stand against the trend is fetish wear designer Nir Zilberman. His new collection, Seduction, being released this month, uses a military motif to remind gay men that the fight against HIV/AIDS wages on.

“When I see young men in film risking their lives just for more money, it makes me mad,” Zilberman says. “What is worse is that the older segments of the community – those who should know better – are supporting the trend by buying the movies. How do we sleep when we know these kids are risking their lives

simply so that we can have a few minutes of entertainment?” Supporters for bareback films argue that condoms take away from the fantasy. Zilberman disagrees, “Men can have amazing sex with a condom. Great sex is in our heads, not between our legs.” FENUXE.COM : 35

Do you worry your stance against the adult industry may hurt sales of your fetish collection?

Nir Zilberman: "No, I don't worry. Success comes from emitting good energy and being the best person you can be. There are a lot of gay men that support safe sex and using condoms and I believe they’ll support my brand. Also, my designs, my choice of fabrics, the fit and the extra details in my collections, are all amazing and unique enough to stand up on their own. I trust the collection will thrive."

Why do you think the community has become so lax in its fight against HIV/AIDS?

Nir Zilberman: "We don’t remember the millions of people who lost their lives to the disease. We forget the discrimination; how doctors and nurses used to fear treating people with AIDS. How heterosexuals blamed the gay community for AIDS. We must remember the heroes that stood up on the streets in San Francisco and NYC with raised signs begging the world to "save our lives". Life for many gay men has become about parties, drugs, drinking, dancing, having sex…and that’s ok. I say play hard! But also play it safe."

What inspired you to create the camouflage line of Seduction?

Nir Zilberman: "The inspiration for all of my collections come from different aspects of my life. The camouflage line reflects my youth in Israel. All of my childhood was about war and terrorist attacks. I was nine years old when eleven of our Israeli athletes were killed in the Munich Olympics of 1972. Every day was a struggle and a fight."

GemIni [mAY 21 – JUN. 22]

There is a spring in your step and the world is slowly falling perfectly into place around you. Take advantage of this while you can because your luck will soon move out of orbit. Don’t neglect your social calendar as time with friends will energize you for the weeks ahead. Someone close to you will be looking to you for help, but they won’t know how to ask.

CANCER [JUN. 21 – JUL. 22] It’s the perfect time of year for you to take a vacation, but don’t shortchange yourself with the requisite summertime beach trip. You’re feeling the urge to get out there and indulging your wanderlust every once in a while is perfectly healthy. Stress at work will continue to build, however, you’re going to get noticed for you work. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing depends on what you do over the next two weeks.

LEO [JUL. 23 – AUg. 22] All of that time on Facebook and Grindr have helped you blow off some steam, but it’s not filling the void you feel. Reach out to trusted friends and invest time in your friendships. Making major life changes may sound incredibly tempting right now, however, a thoughtful adjustment could produce a far better result.

virgo

[AUg. 23 – SEpT. 22] There’s a spot for you in the world of entertainment opening up. Pursue new opportunities because you won’t get a monogrammed doily offering up gigs. It could be an embarrassing fifteen minutes of YouTube fame or it could be the start of a rewarding acting career. Clarity here is impossible to see through the fog of your reasoned doubt.

libra [SEpT. 23 – OCT. 22] There is a reason that song has been stuck in your head for the past few days. Your subconscious is trying to tell you something and it isn’t going to let up until you acknowledge it. Don’t fret. The time is right for deft action and the resources you need will become available in due time. An influential figure in your life may try to hold you back, but you’ve got to stay the course to see things through. Channel your energy into the bedroom and you won’t soon forget it.

scorpio [OCT. 23 – NOV. 22]

A certain someone you would rather not see will be unavoidable over the next two weeks. Don’t give them the satisfaction of getting under your skin. Shake it off and forget them. There is a McDreamy in your future, but he isn’t going to be attracted to you if you’re still fretting over captain annoying. Stop letting people bring you down. Build yourself up and embrace the great things surrounding you. 44 : May 22, 8, 2014 2014

SAGITTARIUS [NOV. 23 – dEC. 21] Things are going well. Not great. Not bad. But going well. You may be afraid to rock the boat. Sure your job is stable… but are you happy? Let your personality out to play and invite others into your unique view of the world. You can gain valuable perspective while sharing your view of the world with those willing to truly listen.

Capricorn [dEC. 22 – JAN. 19] Don’t be afraid to let loose and celebrate your success. From the daily small stuff to the massive project you just tackled, there is nothing wrong with patting yourself on the back a little more often. Next week is a great time for you to travel near your home. A mini stay-cation will do wonders for your spiritual nourishment.

AQUARIUS

[JAN. 20 – FEB. 18] The waters are swirling but you’re steering the ship confidently through life right now. Don’t take things for granted because obstacles will try and trip you up over the next two weeks. An opportunity that seems to good to be true will present itself. Your skepticism will save you from trouble.

PISCES

[FEB. 19 – mAR. 20] The stars have aligned for you and luck is definitely on your side. However the sun remains keenly interested in your ventures so wear sunscreen and look out for people looking to burn you in business. Open your heart for a stranger next week and you’ll find yourself bumping into the love of your life.

ARIES

[mAR. 21 – ApR. 19] Another year older and that dream still seems far away. Now is the time to focus your attention and to act confidently on impulses. Don’t immediately tell yourself no. That unexpected Sunday evening party invitation could put you on the path you seek. A Debbie Downer will derail your success if allowed to influence you over the next two weeks.

Taurus [ApR. 20 – mAY 20] The stars aren’t aligned for you right now and you’re feeling it physically and emotionally. Hang in there and try not to wear your emotions of your sleeve. The opportunity for a breathtaking romance will present itself in the next two weeks. Love will find you but you won’t recognize it if you close your eyes to the world.

Holler Poodles!! Memorial Day is the official kickoff to summer and I’ve spent a lot of time minutes sifting through the best tips for this season. Here are the best tips I could think of! Mary Edith Pitts’ Summer Tits Tips 1. Men are visual creatures and will stare you up and down in a split second--give them something to look at. I suggest a potato in your speedo. I tried this a few years ago and got quite the reception. I was then told it would look better in the front. Lesson learned! 2. Tan is so yesterday! Pale white is the new “tan.” I’m opening a new spray tan booth off Faulkner Rd in midtown to give you that milky white tan you’ve been searching out. Though inexpensive at only $20, it will take more than an hour to fully coat your body with this proprietary warming liquid. Set in a dimly lit environment to simulate “moonglow,” clients are encouraged to sample the complimentary sausage bar as each blast of the specially formulated genetic compound blasts away the tension and leaves your skin looking and feeling milky smooth. Cumming Coming Soon! 3. If you’ve got a body like I do, you must flaunt it! Skin is in! And in my book, the more you show, the more you Ho! Okay??? Lets bring back streaking, thongs and micro bikinis. I want to see all of your body!! Why cover up all the hard work you’ve been doing when you know we all want to see it. Hell, wear some sheer shorts and a smile! I think I’ll go the streaking route! Who’s with me? If you are unsure whether you should streak or wear sheer shorts, please email me your full body shots (at the address below) and I’ll masturbate get back to you if you’re hot as soon as possible! 4. Finally, you must come to Roy’s Hideaway down in Collins, GA to see me put on a show you won’t soon forget. The campground has cabins, RV sites, tent sites, a humongous clubhouse and a beautiful pool area plus the nicest people around. Roy and his team are going all out for this extravaganza and suffice it to say, you’ll be begging for more. Calico Deville will also be performing and we’ve been working up a little something special for all of you. Stay safe this summer! Love and lashes,

Eats

Mistress Ginger Cooks! Going vegan is incredibly hard. I have dear friends who swear otherwise… but foregoing meat after years of grilled, roasted, braised and pan fried deliciousness is going to require some super tasty recipes. Luckily, that’s where drag cabaret performer and cook extraordinaire Mistress Ginger steps up the plate.

Gingersnatch Cookies

Mistress Ginger is the creation of Justin Leaf, a Juilliard trained dancer and ballet instructor, who has use veganism to stay healthy and in shape. She’s been delighting audiences for over a decade as a performer and now she’s sharing her passion for vegan food with the hungry gay masses. “Miss Ginger Cooks!” is a collection of fun, easy-to-make and scrumptious

• 11⁄2 cups whole wheat pastry flour • 3⁄4 cups rolled oats • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1 teaspoon ground ginger • 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder • 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cloves • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt • 2 teaspoons Ener-G Egg Replacer • 2 tablespoons warm water 1 cup granulated sugar • 1⁄2 cup vegan buttery spread 1⁄4 cup blackstrap molasses 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

50 : May 22, 2014

recipes that will have you cheating on meat and never looking back. Planning a dinner party with friends? Try the Par-tay Pate. Want to cook breakfast for the hottie who stayed over last night? You can’t go wrong with the Blueberry Stud Muffins and French Kissed Toast. It’s a tongue-in-cheek approach to cooking that is sure to leave you satisfied and smiling. As if the tasty food isn’t enough, the veritable performer has also created a new show called “Mistress Ginger Cooks: Love Songs to Turn Up the Heat” to celebrate the release of the cookbook. The show premiered in Minneapolis, however, there is still a chance for you to get your fix of the delicious Mistress Ginger in person. She’s taking the show on the road and there is chance she could be in Atlanta soon.

All hands on deck. Serious gingersnatch action (also known as “gingersnac- tion”) is about to transpire. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper. Mix the flour, oats, baking soda, ginger, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a medium bowl. Combine the egg replacer with the water in a food processor and process until frothy, about 3 minutes. How are you doing with the gingersnaction so far? Put 3⁄4 cup of the sugar and the vegan buttery spread in a large bowl and mix using an electric mixer. Add the molasses, vanilla extract, and egg replacer. Stir the dry mixture into the wet mixture using a wooden spoon to form a dough.

Roll the dough into 24 balls, each about 1 inch in diameter. Roll each ball in the remaining 1⁄4 cup of the sugar to create a thin coating and put on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes. Let rest on the baking sheet for 3 to 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Gingersnatch Cookies will stay fresh in a tightly sealed container at room temperature for 1 week or in the refrigerator for 2 weeks. Congratulations! You’ve had your first experience with gingersnaction. How was it for you? You know what they say: “Once you go gingersnatch, you never go back.”
