The proper Tools For your Skin WHEN IT COMES TO SKINCARE FOR MEN, IT CAN SEEM DAUNTING TRYING TO PICK OUT A PRODUCT. LUCKILY, THERE ARE MANY GREAT SKINCARE OPTIONS AND ALSO A GOOD DEAL OF RETAILERS AND SPAS THAT UNDERSTAND HOW TO CATER TO A MALE AUDIENCE. even though skincare is one of the fastest moving segments in the beauty industry, it still can be a challenge for many men to buy the proper skincare. the sheer magnitude of products is often overwhelming. most of the time men don’t know how to address their skincare concerns, let alone inquire about specialty products or even makeup out of fear of being perceived as too feminine. luckily, skincare retailers and beauty destinations are picking
14 : July 17, 2014
up on the touchy subject and are creating little ‘safe havens’ where men can go and receive the right guidance – and the right products. one of those is Julian’s cosmetics + Skincare located in the town Brookhaven shopping center off Peachtree road. openly gay owner Julian reynolds has several years of experience in providing both male and female clients with proper tools and advice on the best possible skincare regimen. “As a male shopping for skincare, it can be very intimidating” Julian explains, “which is why we have created an environment where both males and females can feel comfortable.” Julian’s cosmetics + Skincare carries top of the line skincare products that range from over-the-counter selections to medical grade options. Specifically for men, they have teamed up with the shaving expert Art of Shaving and
the new brand menaji, which features a concise collection of basic skincare products flanked by a few specialty products like their miracle eye cream and serum. menaji also offers a few choice makeup products for men that have been jokingly dubbed ‘camo’, which translates into a lightweight concealer and two powder options to eliminate that shine. the big difference in comparison to conventional makeup is that these products are easy and (almost) foolproof to apply, making them appear completely invisible on the skin, enhancing what is already there, while looking far from feminine at the same time. “I think it’s important that our male customers can come learn about skincare products that will work best for them as well as cosmetic application techniques”, Julian adds. this is why you shouldn’t feel shy asking about how and where to apply a concealer when
Julian Reynolds
you visit the skincare destination. Julian from the beginning realized that by creating a relaxed and welcoming environment populated by a respectful, friendly and knowledgeable team, you enhance an atmosphere where everyone feels at ease. A safe milieu where a guy won’t be intimidated by asking about the Gentleman’s facial – which by the way is one of the very popular items on the full spa menu of Julian’s cosmetics + Skincare.

Facts of backpack in the park
Give Back With A Pack:
3,500 kids need your help By Dustin Shrader
Last year, Backpack in the Park filled 2,800 backpacks with a variety of school supplies and gift cards. This year they are hoping to top such an outstanding result. “There will always be a need for community support,” said Brian Isbell, president of For the Kid in All of Us. “This year is no different. We’re determined to meet the needs of our beneficiaries — and hopefully exceed them. Our goal is to collect at least 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to help local students start the new school year on the right foot.” Backpack in the Park provides much more than school supplies to less fortunate children. These children reap the rewards on a far more emotional level, as well. Chair Mindy Nissenberg states, “You donate $35 and a kid gets a backpack—but that’s not where the story ends. To the children we serve, these backpacks represent much more: confidence, self-esteem, a more level playing field, plus the feeling that they are loved.” In order to boost donations from the greater metro area, Backpack in the Park is bringing back its popular Corporate Backpack Challenge. Any of Atlanta’s largest, respected companies interested in participating form corporate teams collecting backpacks leading up to the event. This participation greatly increases the chances for the organization to reach its goal.
A new school year is right around the corner and everyone knows what that means... school supply pandemonium! For kids in need, one local organization is working hard to make sure they are school ready. For the Kid in All of Us, an Atlantabased nonprofit is hosting its ninth annual Backpack in the Park on Sunday, July 27, from noon-3:30 p.m. at The Cator Woolford Gardens at The Frazer Center (1815 S. Ponce De Leon Ave.). Backpack in the Park is a community garden party consisting of a back-to-school benefit collecting backpacks and school supplies for Georgia children in need. 16 : July 17, 2014
As For the Kid in All of Us has grown over the past 12 years, with Backpack entering its ninth year, Isbell says the feedback from the beneficiaries and children has been motivating. “It gives them the courage and confidence to learn. Some of the most memorable success stories I can recall was a little girl from AID Atlanta who told me that she carries the toy she received in her backpack to school everyday. Even over the past eight to twelve years, we’ve received a letter from a former child who said we had given them the tools to go on to college, graduate and become the successful adult they are. Hearing things like that is why we are doing this.” If you are interested in donating a virtual “backpack” ($30) to Backpack in the Park or signing up to become a VIP donor, which allows entrance to the event and additional member benefits throughout the year, then visit www. forthekid.org. For the Kid in All of Us will be taking donations leading up to the event date.

local organizations that BackPack in the Park will benefit: • AGAPE Youth & Family Center • AID Atlanta • Atlanta City Schools – South Region • Childkind, Inc. • CHRIS Kids • Devereux Georgia • East Lake Foundation • Families First • FCS Urban Ministries • Jerusalem House • Lutheran Services of Georgia • Malachi’s Storehouse • Safepath Children’s Advocacy Center
For the Kid in All of Us was founded in 2003 by a group of friends seeking to make a difference in their local community. For the Kid in All of Us also hosts The Toy Party, an annual event where gays, lesbians, and the gay-friendly community in Atlanta could come together to support a cause that affects children across Georgia.
For the Kid in All of Us has distributed more than 41,500 toys and gift cards through The Toy Party & Silent Auction, 11,900 backpacks filled with school supplies and gift cards through Backpack in the Park, and raised over $475,000 to donate to numerous agencies and organizations serving Georgia’s less fortunate children.

Gay Wedding Expert
Jason Mitchell's 7 Essential
Tips 1 Finances Figuring out who pays for what at a male same-sex wedding is always tricky as there are no established etiquette rules to follow. Even if your parents knew you were gay since childhood, chances are they didn’t think to save for your wedding day. My best suggestion is to talk to each set of parents, and see to what extent they can and want to be involved. If you think it’s hard for you to figure out how to plan your own gay wedding, trust me your parents will be even more confused as to what their roles are and what your expect of them. Communication is key!
18 : July 17, 2014
There is no shortage of wedding planning material aimed at brides-to-be, but what about gay grooms? After becoming engaged, new york city event planning expert Jason Mitchell was shocked to discover there weren’t any books for gay grooms-to-be on the market. so Jason used his experience as the director of weddings for shiraz events to write the industry’s first wedding guide for gay grooms called “getting groomed." it covers everything you'll encounter before, during and after your wedding from finances and invitation wording to the first dance. we asked Jason to give us some tips for gay couples planning their dream wedding this summer.
2 Invitations
4 Fashion
Wording your invitations is another common challenge for same-sex couples. Know that the only rule is that your invitation communicates exactly what you want to say to your guests. Is the wedding being thrown by you, your parents, or a combination? based on that balance you can figure out the name order, if you’re including your parents' names at all. Does the whole Mr. & Mr. feel odd to you? Just using first names on invites is a wonderful way to go, and it speaks to your guests in a less formal way. Do you live in a state that recognizes same-sex marriage? If you’re not you can call your event a commitment ceremony, or forgo naming it altogether. Always make it clear to guests what they should wear and what they should expect, such as dinner and dancing to follow verse cocktail and appetizers.
Deciding what to wear is tough, but one of the most fun challenges you’ll have to face. I recommend using your wedding as an excuse to buy something new, and it should be a special treat. Start looking well in advance to avoid the shopping stress. The best news is it’s something you can re-use unlike a wedding dress. Some grooms match from head to toe, while others go for looks that have individual personality but complement each other. If one of you wears black and the other white, be prepared for some jokes about being the bride. Your personalities should be represented in your wedding fashion, and if one of you is more bold or understated than the other let that flourish. Most importantly make sure you find something you feel wonderful in and can pull off. You want to look back at your wedding photos and say “We looked great!” rather than “What were we thinking?"
3 Rings To ring or not to ring? This iconic wedding tradition might be fitting for you. Some grooms get both engagement rings and wedding bands, while others don’t have either. Don’t want two rings? You can always select wedding bands and wear them on your right hand before your wedding. You can also celebrate your engaged status with matching watches, tattoos, or even a new piece of art for your home.
7 Menu
5 Ceremony Staging your ceremony processional is a typical challenge for gay grooms. Who goes last? If the order of how you walk down the aisle doesn’t feel obvious to you, there are other options. Some have the parents walk down first and the grooms walk in together. others create a floor plan that allows for two aisles. There can also be more unique timelines to your event to solve this. You can begin your wedding with cocktails and appetizers, and then have an officiant gather everyone around the two of you, skip the aisle altogether, and conclude the ceremony with dinner.
6 First dance Does the idea of waltzing romantically in front of all your guests give you anxiety? You’re not alone here. While this tradition is honored by many gay grooms who want this sentimental moment, others are opting for upbeat dance hits. This takes the pressure off everyone viewing your intimate moment, and allows all of your guests to join in and have fun with you.
Eat and drink the wedding though your guests’ taste buds. Pick a menu that is creative and unique but not too alienating. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity to go a bit more extreme with foods. You can serve mini versions of your favorite indulgences, dishes you shared on your first date, or items from your cultural heritage. Always feature one or two specialty cocktails. This helps prevent a huge line at the bar and tells your guests something about you. Make sure it’s seasonally appropriate, and that it won’t knock your guests out before dinner. If you don’t have personal favorites you want to feature, opt for something refreshing and classic that will be a crowd pleaser such as the St-Germain cocktail -- a mix of sparkling wine, club soda and the artisanal French liqueur -- it’s always a winner!
Jason Mitchell currently serves as the Wedding Planning for Shiraz Events in New York City. He previously served as the Event and Banquets Manager at the members-only Soho House New York where he designed, planned and ran everything from awards-show parties to fashion shows. He became known as Soho's in-house wedding expert. Jason and his husband live in Manhattan’s Upper West Side and became engaged shortly before New York adopted marriage equality.

2014 lexuS GS350 f SPort:
SEXY LEXY!
wHETHER OR NOT yOU’LL OpENLy ADMIT IT, you have a favorite drag queen. You know, the one you tip an extra dollar or two, carefully placed in unspeakable places. She wears your favorite gowns, lip-syncs like the real star she’s imitating, and steals the spotlight every time she takes the dance floor.
The 2014 Lexus GS 350 F-Sport (let’s call her Sexy Lexy), is elegant, fun and sporty like your favorite queen. But don’t expect to see her on the stage anytime soon. Lexy is oversized… in the best kind of way. My boyfriend and I, and our friend Ken discovered just how much “junk in the trunk” Lexy had on a weekend trip we recently took to see Atlanta’s very own Brad Thomason play Curly in Oklahoma at the Smokey Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, NC (Thomason was fab, by the way!) Much to our surprise, we couldn’t even begin to fill Lexy’s entire trunk space (yes, you read that correctly. Three gay men going on a weekend trip didn’t have enough luggage for that large a space.) Lexy’s trunk could easily fit the wardrobe of three queens. Easily! The cabin, unlike Atlanta’s gay bars, had enough room for the three of us to sit comfortably, sprawled out, almost as if we were in separate cars. The ventilated seat feature (air conditioning that circulates through the bottoms and backs of the two front seats) could took the “Hot” out of “Hotlanta” quicker than a queen could snatch a dollar. And the striated aluminum interior trim, aluminum pedals and black headliner make for sexy interior finishes.
20 : July 17, 2014
Lexy kept us entertained on the way to being entertained with her twelvespeaker 5.1 surround sound. We played
the entire Oklahoma soundtrack to ensure we could sing-a-long with the cast at the show. And boy did we get to NC fast (minding all of the state’s traffic laws, of course.) The F-Sport has four modes: Normal, Eco, Sport S, and Sport S+. We mostly drove in Sport S+, which calls for tighter suspension and faster acceleration. Lexy gives off a sexy roar when you rev her up! But the F-Sport’s exterior is just as choreographed with its sleek yet aggressive look pronounced through its styled front bumper, upper and lower grille inserts, rear valance and spoiler, approach lighting, and 19-inch split-fivespoke alloy wheels. She’s one sexy Mamma Jamma! If you want to get behind the wheel of the 2014 Lexus GS 350 F-Sport, and crown her your favorite queen, you’ll need to be prepared to throw more than a few singles at her – she starts at $53,390, but is sure to hit the high notes of your desired tunes, night and night again.

JOE DROPS THE

Joe Gauthreaux Launches Prop D Record Label By Tony Roberto
DJ dynamo Joe Gauthreaux has brought his unique sound to parties throughout the world, headlining nearly every major festival event including White Party Miami, Winter Party, and even last week’s Peach Party – earning him the title of “Hottest DJ of the Year” from Out Magazine. He began releasing his own remixes eight years ago and in that time, has worked with many of the leading dance artists including Kristine W, Jeanie Tracy, and Tony Moran. Three years ago, Joe Gauthreaux began taking on mainstream projects with pop acts like NeYo, The Wanted, and Justin Bieber. 22 : July 17, 2014
This week he adds record mogul and artist to his resume with the launch of his own music label, Prop D Recordings, and its first single release, "Bye Felicia." "Bye Felicia", an expression of dismissal first heard in the motion picture, Friday, and made popular by Nene Leakes on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, is a throwback to nineties house. It's the first in a line of diverse dance tracks Gauthreaux will release through Prop D Recordings. Upcoming singles will be everything from vocal, tribal house, to EDM, to crazy club bangers. ”I genuinely love all kinds of dance music,” he explains. “I'm always incorporating new beats and sounds to keep the momentum up on my floor. I’ll do the same with the label. The worst thing a DJ or record head can do is get stuck in a certain sound for too long. Music is constantly changing and evolving. If you don't change with it, you'll get left behind.” How was Peach Party? It was amazing. I played a lot of my own productions and the crowd’s response was so great. It's like a whole new chapter of my career has started. The crowd erupted when you played “Bye Felicia”. Honestly, it was one of the biggest songs of the night. I think a lot of it is because people who are familiar with me know it's my track so they want to show their support which I think is awesome. When did you first hear the “Bye Felicia” expression? I think I overheard a friend say it for the first time and then I probably I saw it on social media or on TV. On the street, the term is a dis meaning “get out my face”. It was one of those things I thought it was really mean to say to somebody, but at the same
time it was pretty ingenious and hilarious. Did you think immediately, ‘this needs to be a club song’? Yeah, after I started hearing it everywhere, my brain started churning. I did a search on iTunes and saw no songs with the expression, so I thought, "hey, why not make one?" But you changed the definition for your song. A lot of things I do in life, whether it's in my DJ set or making music, I think about what people might expect and then do the complete opposite. I like to think that's what keeps me interesting. How did you decide on Mitch Amtr@ck for vocals? I think Mitch is awesome. He did a couple of tracks with Peter Rauhofer back in the Roxy days. We've been friends for a while and I've always wanted to do something with him. When this idea came to me, I knew he was the man for the job. Was it in any way meant to pay homage to Peter Rauhofer? Not really. Of course I admire Peter but this was just something I thought would be fun. Using Mitch, I guess it’s easy to see why some people might assume that angle. You’ve been vocal about you admiration for Peter Rauhofer. Peter was an amazing producer. He was always able to make his remixes sound different from his past work and that’s something I strive to do in my production work. For readers that may not be familiar with Peter Rauhofer, how would you describe him as an artist? A genius. He was a passionate man and his passion frequently erupted into feuds with competing DJs
and producers. Competition in the DJ world can be fierce. What I try to do is focus on what I'm doing and not get caught up in all the politics. It can wear you down. Are you close with any DJs? (Laughing) I almost have no social life whatsoever! I'm pretty much an eat, breath, sleep kind of DJ, but yeah, I do have a couple of DJ friends that I would consider to be close friends: Tony Moran, Susan Morabito, Ben Baker, and a few others. Were all very supportive of each other. As a producer, is it important to have the support of club DJs? It's extremely important to have the support of other DJs. They're the ones who are going to expose your music to the world. Sure, there's SoundCloud and iTunes and things like that, but the DJs are the ones who bring the music to the people first. Besides yourself, who is currently doing amazing things on the dance floor? Believe it or not, I love what a lot of the EDM guys are doing right now. Zedd, Calvin Harris, Tiësto, and Avicii are all doing amazing things. Obviously we have very different styles but just the fact that they create their own music and are true recording artists is very inspiring to me. How long did it take you to make the transition from DJ to producer? Ten years. Why did you name your label, Prop D? I was living in California during the time of Proposition 8 and I was very affected by it. When I was thinking of a name for my label, I thought it would be interesting to turn something that was so negative into a positive. Prop D stands for proposition dance.
Visit www.DJJoeG.com
Do you hope to get married someday? Yes, of course I'd love to get married! One day. Right now, this job is pretty much the only relationship I can handle. Would you DJ a gay wedding? I have! It was for my friends’ wedding and it was beautiful in every way you can imagine. I was truly humbled that they wanted me to be a part of their beautiful day. Will the next release from Prop D be “All This Time”? In all probability, it will. What’s the song about? The idea came from an ex who would find new and inventive ways to treat me so awful. Yet, I couldn't help staying in love with him! I had the chorus written and then brought it to Jared Bradford who turned the song into what it is today. He sings on the track. What are you looking forward to this summer? Living in New York, I have come to appreciate every beautiful sunny day. Being a DJ, I also travel a lot and get to see friends all over the world. That’s one of the best things about my job. There are some not so wonderful aspects about DJing too but you'll never hear me complaining because all of the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.

Health
Do you hide in the
"closet" at your doctors?
A lot of us are dreaming of a day when being gay is no big deal and practically irrelevant, but right now that ideal doesn't work everywhere. There is One place in particular where it is important to let your sexual orientation be known Â‑ at the doctor's office. To discuss the importance of coming out to your doctor and the latest issues in gay health care we caught up with Atlanta's Dr. T. Douglas Gurley.
26 : July 17, 2014
So what is the the big deal? Why is it important for gay people to come out to their doctor? "If you're not being open and honest with your doctor you're not getting the right care," Dr. Gurley says, "You're not getting tested for HIV. You're not getting the right vaccines that you need - including HPV. You're not getting anal Pap smears, etc." This type of specialized health care is important because our community has unique needs. For example, most people on Earth have contracted some form of HPV through their sexual escapades. In the hetero world men often pass it to women and it can lead to the development of cervical cancer. So, mainstream doctors are on the look out for cervical cancer in women and often encourage them to get the HPV vaccine. Similarly, HPV is often spread through anal sex. Therefore, if your doctor knows you are gay he can give you the HPV vaccine which protects from certain strains and monitor you for signs of anal cancer caused by other HPV strains. Additionally, gay doctors who specialize in health care for our community are knowledgeable and passionate about the cutting edge of gay-tailored care. Dr. Gurley and his staff take pride in staying ahead of the curve and offer specialized services that you won't find at other medical practices in Atlanta. Now it is commonplace for gay men under the age of 26 to get the HPV vaccine but just a few years ago it was rare. "I was giving the vaccine a long time ago and Blue Cross called me into their boardroom to interrogate me," Dr. Gurley recalled about when he first began vaccinating young gay men against HPV, "They thought I was a quack because I was giving HPV vaccine to men. We had to fight them so they would approve it for men. That’s the hard thing about being on the cutting edge of medicine." Next, it's important to find a doctor that you're comfortable with. This is why many gay men find that having a gay doctor helps with discussing their life and health care needs. "I just had a discussion with a patient who had a lot of concerns about his anal toys and his previous doctor was offended by it," Dr. Gurley remembered, "So he came here and
we had a very frank conversation about things like that. That’s another comfort level my patients have. They can talk to me about anything. I never judge anyone." One thing that many patients are starting to ask Dr. Gurley about is Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). As PrEP and PEP continue to attract more media attention the amount of information written about it continues to grow, however, some people still have questions about the strict medication regimen and the new CDC recommendations. "It is confusing," Dr. Gurley admitted, "Actually, the committee at the CDC asked me to come in and talk to them about what we’re experiencing. They’re trying to write and finish the guidelines. We don’t want to encourage people to just go out and have unsafe sex because you can get syphilis, herpes, gonorrhea, and give it to other people. We’re already having an epidemic with some of those things." Dr. Gurley stresses that every case is different and that this is another important health care conversation to have with your physician. "I think you just have to discuss it with a doctor because we’re happy to give PrEP, but sometimes people don’t need PrEP they just need to know about PEP," Dr. Gurley detailed, "There’s a lot of new data so it’s not an across the board recommendation. If you’re having unsafe sex then you need to talk to your doctor about it and come up with a plan." Above all, make sure your doctor fully understands PrEP and PEP because Dr. Gurley warns that not all doctors are familiar enough with it. "I had one patient last week who went to a doctor to ask for PrEP, Dr. Gurley recounted, "They gave him one pill and told him that’s all he needed. This is why you really need to go to a doctor that knows about gay health care." This straight dooctor was doing his gay patient a grave disservice by misprescribing PrEP. Only taking PrEP once or not taking it regularly significantly lowers its effective rate of preventing HIV. "The main issue with PrEP is that in all the studies, even the studies here in the United States in San Francisco and Boston, there was only a 44 percent reduction
in HIV," Dr. Gurley explained, "That was because of adherence. People weren’t taking the medicine every day. For some reason, for prevention, people don’t take the medicine every day. If you do take it every day we’ve been able to extrapolate that it’s 99 to 100 percent effective." Dr. Gurley also points out that just because you're gay and sexually active doesn't necessarily mean you need to be on PrEP. "Not everybody needs to take PrEP, it just depends on the situation," Dr. Gurley said, "A lot of people that come in asking about PrEP actually need to know about PEP. PEP is for when you’re practicing safe sex but something happens or you make a dumb mistake. You have 72 hours [after exposure] to take HIV medicine, but the first 36 hours are the most important. We try to get people on it at 36 hours and you then take it for 28 days." However, Dr. Gurley was quick to point out that PEP isn't something you want to continually keep coming back to month after month. "If a patient comes in and I’ve given them PEP twice and they keep making the same mistakes then I’ll put them on PrEP," he clarified. PrEP and PEP are great tools that available to use if you're at a high risk of contracting HIV. However, innovations in HIV prevention are already underway and Dr. Gurley believes that this area of medicine will advance quickly over the next few years. "This is just the first step with PrEP," he commented, "There are going to be second and third waves of different types of PrEP. We’re working on intermittent PrEP now where you take Truvada twice a week and two hours before sex. It seems like it’s going to be very effective. We also have an injection that will probably come out next year where you can get an injection once every three months." T. CANCER [JUN. 21 – JUL. 22]
“May the Force be with you.” Harrison Ford as Hans Solo in “Star Wars” Just like with the new “Star Wars” movie that has been recently spotted filming in Atlanta, you never know when old friends will pop back into your life. Sometimes the second (or eighth) return to a friendship is just what you needed. Keep yourself open to the Force and exciting new experiences. The stars will reward your trust with a thrilling summer. However, look for trouble in the beginning of August as Mercury continues to move.
LEO [JUL. 23 – AUg. 22]
Capricorn [DEC. 22 – JAN. 19] “One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don’t know.” Groucho Marx as Captain Geoffrey T. Spaulding in “Animal Crackers” If there were ever a time for you to get on “Last Comic Standing” it’s right now. Over the next few weeks insight and wit are your swords. The planets are rapidly shifting and it has tickled your funny bone. Comedy may not be something you’re familiar with, but the stars have aligned for you to take center stage and have your friends laughing themselves silly.
AQUARIUS [JAN. 20 – FEb. 18]
“What we’ve got here is failure to communicate.” Strother Martin as the Captain in “Cool Hand Luke”
“Say ‘hello’ to my little friend!” Al Pacino as Tony Montana in “Scarface”
Don’t get trapped by a failure to communicate effectively. Make a special effort to see the world the way those around you see it. This will prove especially beneficial for you at the end of the month. Watch out for a mysterious figure offering up an opportunity that sounds too good to be true during the last week of July.
You’re prepared and the stars are going to guarantee that you have the element of surprise in your primary pursuits over the next two weeks. Just make sure you want the outcome you’re working toward. There will be little opportunity to stop the ship after you’ve let everyone see your little “friend”. It is unclear whether or not your pursuit will be fruitful for you.
virgo [AUg. 23 – SEpT. 22]
“I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” Peter Finch as Howard Beale in “Network” Take a deep breath and relax because things are not as bad as they appear. You’ll have plenty of reasons to get upset over the next few weeks, however, there is no reason why you can’t turn your luck around. Just put on a smile and eventually the world will smile back. Don’t let adversity break you.
libra [SEpT. 23 – OCT. 22] “Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine in “Casablanca” Over the next few weeks the stars are going to put a lot of great new friends in your path. Make sure you say hello! You never know when you’ll meet the person who will change your life forever. If you’re open to an adventure the stars are eager to provide. Look for a unique financial opportunity during the last two weeks of July.
scorpio [OCT. 23 – NOV. 22]
“Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.” Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig in “The Pride of the Yankees” Adversity isn’t something to fear. Count your blessings and the rough patches won’t seem as difficult to overcome. Luck comes in all shapes and sizes so take advantage of the good fortune that the stars do provide. However, keep in mind that luck doesn’t justify uncalculated risk. Be smart. Trying a new restaurant during the end of July could lead to unexpected and delightful results.
SAGITTARIUS [NOV. 23 – DEC. 21] “Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump in “Forrest Gump” Your life is indeed going to be like a box of chocolates over the next few weeks. Some of the experiences will be super sweet and others will taste sweet but leave a lingering weird aftertaste. However, remember that you don’t have to blindly pick which chocolates you want to enjoy. There is a little card in the box that will tell you what chocolates you’re going to get. Just keep on the lookout for the card.

PISCES [FEb. 19 – MAR. 20] “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.” Vivien Leigh as Blanche DuBois in “A Streetcar Named Desire” You may have had ‘stranger danger’ drilled into your head as a kid, but you’re an adult now and a stranger is nothing more than a friend you haven’t met yet. A situation looms in the near future where you’ll come to rely on the kindness of a stranger. Revel in the graciousness of humanity leading someone to blindly lend you a hand. Don’t get caught up in your own pride.
ARIES [MAR. 21 – ApR. 19] “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” Clark Gable as Rhett Butler in “Gone With The Wind” Forget what people say and march to the beat of your own drum. Lots of people have become successful by doing their own thing. Few people have become successful by constantly worry about pleasing others. Look for the stars to align in the end of July. Financial opportunity awaits if you keep your eyes open for it.
Taurus [ApR. 20 – MAy 20] “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.” Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone in “The Godfather” Some people may call it shrewd, but you call it business. The stars are aligned for you to take action at the workplace and the benefit could be monumental if you allow yourself to succeed. But keep your eye out for opportunity because it won’t fall into your lap. A stranger will call with good news at the end of the month.
GemIni [MAy 21 – JUN. 22] “All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.” Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond in “Sunset Boulevard” Sometimes it feels like no one notices all the hard work and effort that you put in on the job, however, don’t be fooled. You’ve been putting in the hours and everyone at work is about to notice. Just make sure you’re ready for your close-up when the time comes. No one can guarantee that your time in the limelight will be successful. Put in the work needed now to make sure everything turns out the way you prefer.

Holler Poodles!! Summer is sizzling and so is my ass in this tiny whiteish thong I’m wearing. Fenuxe Magazine recently sent me to check out a new amusement park (I think its a rip off but I’m not sure) called 3 Flags over Here. Located in beautiful downtown Jonesboro, it offers an affordable alternative to Six Flags along with some interesting variations on some well known rides. This particular day they were celebrating their unoffi cial “Gay Day” called Hey Girl Hey Day. Since it was hot as hell, I decided a wet ride would be a great way to start the day. bad idea! Their version of Thunder River called Storm Sewer was horrifi c. now any other day of the week if you told me I would be entering a manhole I would be thrilled. not today , I got stuck trying to enter so my cousin Selma b. Hole had to jump on my shoulders to get me through. We both fell through and landed on an old tire and proceeded through a tunnel. As we began to emerge from the darkness, a beautiful arc of showers greeted our exit from the abyss. We began to scream as I realized it was a latrine and these men were pissing on us. I acted was disgusted! We moved along to the next tunnel through countless feet inches of muck to come out the next manhole covered in gunk. I was relieved there were people showering as I came to the surface and got under the warm shower only to realize there was only an elephant and no outdoor plumbing. next, Selma ushered me off to their version of Monster Plantation called “A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing” which was surprisingly entertaining. Throughout the ride, there were scary wolves everywhere trying to take away the rights of citizens. but as we moved through the scene, we could see the faces of notorious politicians that were the actual wolves and the citizens took back their voice and dethroned them. Woo Hoo! Thrilling! We then ventured to their version of the Flying Dutchman--the ride that’s like a pirate ship on steroids. because the seats were so small, Selma sat right behind me so we had room to sprawl. Well, unfortunately for her, with each pendulous sway of the ship, my boobs fell out of my tube top and kept hitting her face. Selma had to be rushed to urgent care because she had two black eyes, several concussions and mouth full of fucked up teeth which she had before but she’s trying to sue the insurance company so don’t say anything! We’ll go back another day to fi nish this story. Until then… Love and lashes, If you have any questions, comments or feedback, please contact me at maryedith99@gmail or on twitter @maryedithpitts.

David Beckham is dropping more jaws than usual in his new underwear ads for H&M. The shots for becks's newest ad campaign not only display the former soccer stud in all his glory but remain completely untouched. The ads are a collaboration with the Swedish fashion conglomerate in which beckham models bodywear goods for the Fall 2014 season. The collection will include woven sweatpants, wool and cotton long underwear, heavy-knit socks, along with a fresh take on classic style briefs. of course the line would not be complete without his signature-style beanies. Accompanying the seasonal clothing is a black and white lookbook depicting becks modeling each piece. both the collection and the look-book are expected to hit select H&M locations on August 21st.
In an interview with Sky News on June 29 Sir Elton John stated that he knows which side Jesus would have taken during the great marriage debate. The musician also discussed how happy he is with Pope Francis and the message the Pope is spreading in regards to love and equality for humanity. When it comes to discussing such issues as vows of celibacy for Catholic priests and the possibility for gay clergyman to marry, John insists the Church of England needs to catch up with the times. "These are old and stupid things, and the church hierarchy might be up in arms about it -- the traditionalists -- but times have changed," John said. "We live in a different time. If Jesus Christ were alive today, I cannot see him, as the Christian person that he was and the great person that he was, saying this could not happen. He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together, and that is what the church should be about." Sir Elton plans to marry his partner David Furnish in a simple ceremony sometime next year surrounded by close family and friends.
The New Adele? Sam Smith, the gay british pop sensation, just released his long-awaited debut album, making US chart history with his album soaring to number two on the billboard Top 200. The singer, 22, achieved the highest first-week US sales for a UK male artist in Soundscan’s 23year history with "In The Lonely Hour". It shot straight to number one in the UK, as the fastest-selling debut album of 2014. Much of his album’s momentum on the billboard charts is thanks to his debut single "Stay With Me" exceeding one million sales in the U.S. Smith's success is not surprising after listening to his soulful, falsetto-adorned pop and epic ballads. "In the Lonely Hour" lives up to universal expectations, and Smith has definitely made a name for himself. His debut success is reminiscent of fellow british musician, Adele. Smith's music is a must have for everyone's playlist this summer.
Movies To Stream (In Theatres): Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson heads up this version. not to be confused with Summit Entertainment's "The Legend of Hercules" starring Kellan Lutz previously released in March, "Hercules" is an entirely new retelling of the Greek demigod's story. After completing his legendary twelve labors, Hercules has his life put to the test when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord. The Rock and all his brawn will bring Hercules to life starting on the big screen July 25. 42 : July 17, 2014
based on the Tony Award-winning musical by the same name, "Jersey Boys" is a musical drama directed by Clint Eastwood. The film focuses on the 1960's musical group The Four Seasons, made up of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks. The ups and downs of their tumultuous lives are accompanied by their energetic hit songs that helped to influence a generation. This film honorably brings the musical to life.
