BEBE Gives Good Face
What is the main message in “Face”? When I was on Drag Race, “Face” became a tag word that resonated with a lot of my fans. What better way of celebrating "Face" than with a song? Remember "your face" is everything. How is Face different than “I’m the Shit” and “Cameroon”? “Face” face fuses tribal, pop, dance, and electro sounds all in one song. It’s modern, fresh, fun… something for the kids.
by Jason Rodriguez
BeBe Zahara Benet was the last queen standing on the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She did it with creativity and attitude, working her curves on the runway and in front of the lens. Still, she doesn’t credit her hips with taking home the crown; she says it was her face. “Nothing beats the face,” she sings about it in her latest single to hit the streets, “Face". The ricocheting tribal rhythms and braggadocios dance lyrics in Bebe’s ode to beauty are sure to get the queens battling on the dance floor this season. Do people still scream “Cameroon” at you everywhere you go? (Laughing) I am telling you, if I hear it one more time! Yes, they still do and I am just now learning to embrace it, knowing it is coming from a good place. Hey, it is putting my place of birth on the map so thanks Ru! Being on a big show like RuPaul’s Drag Race has to have been a boost to your career. Has it hurt in any way? I’m not sure I would say hurt, but it has its challenges. With so many entertainers coming from the show, we all naturally go for the same jobs. Luckily, there are many spaces out there that are in need of our art. How are you different from the other Drag Race girls putting out songs? I am so happy that other drag entertainers are expressing themselves through music. I think it opens us up to a broader market. As for how different I am, I have a really good music foundation. I grew up singing in church. I do a lot of my own songwriting and compositions. 18 : August 28, 2014
What inspires your music? Memories from my two homes, Africa and America. If you could give one piece of advice to young Bebe after winning the first RuPaul’s Drag Race, what would it be? Enjoy every moment because they will become the memories that inspire you.

On Track: AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K D. David Kinney, Digital Editor
Over 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection according to a CDC report released in November of 2013. However, almost one in six have no idea that they’re living with the virus. Everyday in every corner of the world men and women learn for the first time that they’re HIV positive. How do you react to this diagnosis? Where do you go? What do you do? Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual. It would be easier if it did. Luckily, Atlanta has incredible organizations like AID Atlanta and the AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K to raise funds to support essential programs for those living with HIV/ AIDS as well as outreach and prevention programs for those most at risk.
“I didn’t know where to start,” Ed Doolittle, the Donor Database and Website Guru for AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K, told FENUXE during a recent interview, “I felt kind of helpless because I didn’t know where to go or what to do.” Ed was diagnosed with HIV years before he eventually went to work for AID Atlanta and the AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K. “And a lot of times even when you figure it out there is a lot of red tape and hoops you have to jump through.” All of that changed when Ed found AID Atlanta. While working with the AID Atlanta team, 20 : August 28, 2014
Ed quickly gained the valuable information he needed about the virus and his health care needs. The organization was a beaming lighthouse during rough seas and their dedication changed his life in more ways than one. “They helped me out tremendously,” Doolittle explained, “They helped me get the ball rolling in terms of my treatment and the case manager really helped specify what steps needed to be taken and what exactly needed to be done.” Ed was extremely grateful for the help he received, and his experience led to him to take on AID Atlanta’s mission as his own. “I became an advocate for the organization as my passion to help with education, prevention and harm reduction developed,” Doolittle noted. He started out as a volunteer for AIDS Walk Atlanta and at AID Atlanta, however, it didn’t take him long before he figured out where his skills could be put to the best use. “I realized the importance of the AIDS Walk because it helps fund programs at AID Atlanta that are not fully funded like HIV testing. A lot of people also don’t realize that counseling and linkage to health care isn’t fully funded.” So, in 2007 Doolittle applied for a job in the organization’s development department and he’s still there today. “This is going to be the 24th year of the AIDS Walk Atlanta,” Doolittle pointed out, “It’s amazing to see the community rally together and to still see that community togetherness during the Walk. When you see that sea of red shirts you realize that the community really cares. It’s great to see that there are all kinds of people there supporting the cause. People who are straight. People
who are gay. People with HIV and people without HIV. When I walk over the hill and see all of the red it gives me goosebumps. To know that so many people came out to walk for this cause and to see people making a difference. The emotions run pretty deep.” The 24th annual AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run fundraising event will be held on Sunday, October 19. AID Atlanta is currently expanding and they’ll be relying on funds raised during the event to continue their vital work. Last year AID Atlanta performed over 7,000 HIV tests and provided direct HIV prevention education to over 50,000 individuals. With the addition of a new Wellness Center and on-site pharmacy AID Atlanta is increasing the number of people who can receive their services and the range of services they’re able to provide. Doolittle says that we can expect the new Wellness Center to be up and running in just a few short weeks. If you’d like to help raise money for the AIDS Walk we invite you to join FENUXE’s fundraising team or start one of your own. As always, FENUXE’s annual Best Bachelor Auction will be raising money for the AIDS Walk. Join us at the event and you can bid on your favorite bachelor. All of the money goes directly to the AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K. Our Best Bachelors will also be walking with us during the AIDS Walk so make sure you stop by and say hello. For more information visit fenuxe.com/ bestbachelor. Registration for AIDS Walk Atlanta is available at aidswalkatlanta.com. For more information about AID Atlanta, visit aidatlanta.org.

BILL COLEMAN: Music Visionary & DJ Extraordinaire by Dustin Shrader
“I have definitely been following my muse, following my bliss, that’s for sure.” This is no understatement professed by New York DJ Bill Coleman. Founder of the independent management label and company, Peace Bisquit, Coleman has cultivated his many years of music experience and then some into quite the small, formidable empire emerging onto today’s music scene. Entertainment
Originally, from the Hudson Valley, his harrowing passion for music began at an early age. “I started collecting records and music in grade school. I still have the forty-fives I bought as a kid. I was always in and out of record stores.” With such devotion, it is no surprise to learn that Coleman evolved from record collector to DJ novice. As Coleman’s high school years ended and his days at Marist College began, he had honed his DJing skills to land a position with not only his alma mater’s radio station but neighboring Vassar College's radio station, as well. “I had quite a few fans that I had already built up from around the Valley but it was still surprising to have another school ask me to DJ for them. I ended up and crammed four years of college into about three years because I knew there was nothing else I wanted to do besides go into the music business. While I was there, I kept my extracurriculars music centric, interning for Island Records and working at an album rock radio station, in addition to DJing.” Not entirely sure where his career was headed, Coleman took a chance aer graduating and
26 : August 28, 2014
sent out resumes hoping that someone would take the bait. Impressed by his vast experience at such a young age, Billboard Magazine took a bite and oered the burgeoning DJ a entrylevel fact checking position for the charts. “In December of ’86, I was sleeping on a friend’s couch and working for one of the country’s most prestigious music magazines at the time. I had come quite a long way from the boy who grew up in the suburbs of Pawling, New York.” Over time, Coleman impressed his bosses, working his way up the music corporate ladder later becoming the Singles Review Editor and Dance Music Editor at Billboard. His tenure as editor throughout the late ‘80’s entering into the early ‘90’s is arguably the most influential of his career. Little did he know at the time, this experience would lead him down the music management path, starting Peace Bisquit along the way. “I thought, ‘Wow!’ I am already working my dream job with my picture in the magazine right above my byline. I held that position for a couple years, meeting all kinds of people from artists to anyone who was anyone in the music business. It was absolutely perfect for a music geek like me!”
As an editor, demos from unknown artists and bands would cross his desk. From the
contacts he had through Billboard and the friends he made while still DJing around the city, Coleman decided to network and shop around one specific band in particular, hoping to garner some interest. “ere was a band from New York that kept sending me their cassettes. ey would come in these purple envelopes with silver stickers and glitter just falling out of them! And I was like oh my gosh, these songs are so cool! I love them! So, I took some demos, shopped them around and got some major interests from places like Capitol Records and others; even getting into a bidding war!” Aer being wined and dined for months, Coleman and his band decided to sign with Nancy Jeries at Elektra Records. e name of the group was Deee-Lite, one of the ‘90’s most dominating, street to the dance floor acts. By the end of the summer in 1990, Coleman had a hit record on his hands with the group’s single “Groove is in the Heart.” “ings were going so well that I ultimately had a decision to make. Should I leave what was my relatively new career as a music journalist to pursue the management of this band? Having never managed anyone before, I didn’t even know if I could pull it o.”
"
in the suburbs of Pawling, New York. At the thought of someone else stepping in, Coleman’s decision was a no-brainer. “Deee-Lite was really important to the music scene, as was the music we were making, the message, the fashion etc. so my ego took over when I realized I might not get the chance to represent them. I wanted to be a part of that.” us, Coleman’s career as a music manager was born. Initially collaborating with Overland to help with startup costs, Coleman also signed another band, Ultra Nate. With both acts, Peace Bisquit had become the real deal. Over the last twenty-four years, Coleman has grown his once two-bander music label into a heavily sought aer agency employing countless producers and remixers, along with a star-studded roster of artists. Coleman has also extended his reach beyond the music made at Peace Bisquit. His other multimedia ventures include providing the soundtrack to cult hit films including “Party Girl” starring Parker Posey in her debut role, the highly praised newsreel documentary “Inside Deep roat” with Academy Award winning producer Brian Grazer, “Party Monster'” “Another Gay Movie Franchise,” “Manic” – the psychologically-charged feature starring Don Cheadle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Zooey Deschanel, and the poignant coming of age drama “All Over Me” to highlight a few of the projects padding his unparalleled credentials. Currently, Coleman is gearing up to release rapper and songwriter Cazwell's long-awaited, full-length album “Hard 2 B Fresh” this fall. Known as a YouTube sensation and
gay rights activist, the artist has released multiple singles sporadically over the years; however, this compilation will be the first Cazwell has debuted as a whole. “We have been working on this record for four years,” Coleman explains. “I am really excited about it. Cazwell and I have collaborated on other projects, so it has been exciting to see him grow as an artist.” e legendary DJ goes on to describe what it is like to work with an artist who has been so outspoken in defense of the gay community, “We make a good team. We argue here and there, but at the end of the day I want him to do well and be the star that he is. ere was once a time no one was interested as far as gay clubs, yet he has been so adamant about our rights. It is nice to see him be embraced wholeheartedly now. ere is a new generation that has come up and put the old guard on standby.” Unsurprisingly, Coleman and Peace Bisquit have no intention of slowing down anytime soon. With a jampacked schedule for the duration of the year and a multitude of projects beginning in 2015, the performer and producer is on the fast-track to becoming the master of his universe and for that he could not be more grateful. “To have been doing this for twenty-four years has been infinitely rewarding. I still feel like a kid anytime I am working on something new or say when an artist like Beyonce gives us a call and needs some help, it is amazing! With the wave I am on, I would not change a thing.”

libra [SEpT. 23 – OCT. 22] Success and opportunities to get ahead are being drawn to you like moths to a flame. Whether you’re looking to get ahead at work or looking for your future spouse, use the stars’ generosity to your advantage. Just avoid misinterpreting the stars as Mercury retrogrades into your sign. A bad idea is still a bad idea… even with the extra luck.
PISCES
[FEB. 19 – MAR. 20] Take care of your health over the next few weeks as Venus and the Sun take on Mars. Everything from drunken nights to stressing over work, you’ve got a lot of things weighing you down. This may not be the best time of the year for you, but there is little reason why you can’t turn things around on your own. The stars may be steering you, but you can still take the reigns and choose your ultimate destination.
ARIES [MAR. 21 – ApR. 19] Sometimes the universe is giving you subtle hints, but you’re on a path and can’t be distracted. Don’t let your desire to never back down keep you in a situation you’re not destined for. A close friend will look to you for guidance and emotional support in the upcoming weeks. The stars have aligned to give you insight into their pain. Use it wisely.

[OCT. 23 – NOV. 22] When it rains it pours, and this month is going to be a complete luck downpour. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether you’ll be living large or or finding a penny with the heads-side up. Interestingly, the stars are aligned for love so keep yourself open to new relationships, too.
Taurus [ApR. 20 – MAy 20] Your desire for the finer things in life is in overdrive this month; however, don’t let it distract you from making good decisions. You may really want to sink your spare cash into a little pampering or tech upgrade, however, now is a good time to hold on to any extra money. Uncertainty lies ahead.
SAGITTARIUS [NOV. 23 – DEC. 21] The world is your oyster with the ways the stars are aligned for you; however, it isn’t particularly clear what will be your pearl. There is potential for fiery romance and for success in the business world. You could even have both if you play your cards right. Watch out for sticky situations to crop up during the second week of September.
GemIni [MAy 21 – JUN. 22] Getting stretched thin? The universe is likely to pull you in a thousand different directions over the next few weeks. Just hold on and enjoy the ride. Pay close attention to the people you’re being drawn toward. Perhaps you should be focusing your attention there instead of your current pursuits. Watch for the stars to point you and be willing to embrace change and uncertainty.
Capricorn [DEC. 22 – JAN. 19] With Jupiter’s slow orbit weighing you down this may be a rocky time of the year. From personal relationships to familial peculiarities, this will be an interesting month for you to say the least. Embrace the quirks and you’ll be laughing right alongside fate. You will especially shine in creative endeavors and matters of the heart in the beginning of September.
AQUARIUS [JAN. 20 – FEB. 18] It seems like you’re finding new opportunities everywhere you go lately. It’s no wonder considering the great luck that the stars are subtly tossing your way. Take advantage of this good fortune by making changes you’ve fretted over for months. Whether it’s a small change or a life-altering decision, the stars are on your side. 36 : August 28, 2014
CANCER [JUN. 21 – JUL. 22] The desire to express your creativity will become intense as Venus travels your sign. Indulging your fancy whims may take you on an adventure you’ve always dreamed about. This is also a good time to focus on yourself as devotion to the spiritual and mental health will bring you great rewards in the future.
LEO [JUL. 23 – AUg. 22] You’ve got smooth sailing from here until the middle of September. Life is a little bit in auto pilot; however, that’s not a bad thing temporarily. You’re productive and you have to the potential for strong relationships. Smile and kickback because this isn’t the time to stress the small stuff.

Holler Poodles!! I’ve just returned from my all expenses paid trip ($32.09) to the Fall Television Preview in beautiful downtown Jonesboro, GA. (Yes, I was surprised too but they fed us Taco Bell while we watched satellite feeds of the new shows--not a wise choice to feed me beefy bean burritos in a small cramped room with other people but you live and learn.) Television sure has changed since I was a little boy. This season, television executives have made the desperate∫ bold move to pair some previous shows with existing shows as well as mix everything up to give viewers a mashup they won’t soon forget. Golden Girls Flash! Betty White has signed on to reprise her role as loveable goofball Rose Nylund from The Golden Girls on the CW’s new show FLASH! Reports from on set state Rose can’t stop lifting her top to flash anyone who’ll look. She’s even been seen taking selfies with her boobs wrapped around her co-star’s shoulders! My hero! You go girl! 16 and Pregnant by Big Brother is a controversial new show set in the heart of LA (lower Alabama) which follows the true life stories of brother and sisters. The first episode features Amber who was impregnated by her big brother Billy-Joe-Jim-Bob III, in an unfortunate hunting accident (he was hunting for pussy and she was just looking for a comfortable place to sit down.) Their daughter, Billy-Joe-JimBob IV, struggles with the fact her father is also her uncle. Scorned by society, her 35-year-old great grandmother, Jim Bob takes her to live in a double wide-triple, high luxury trailer in the sky. “Hey You”, as she is affectionately called, turns out to be a math genius and is entering high school at the ripe old age of three. Orange is the New BlackList: Its Red vs. Red when James Spader and Kate Mulgrew face off in this exciting prison drama. James Spader’s Red goes undercover disguised as a woman in the prison only to be outed by Laverne Cox. Laverne hooks him up with hair and makeup and no one is the wiser to his disguise till Kate Mulgrew’s Red catches him in the shower. She is strangely turned on by this man in makeup in front of her. What will happen? Stay tuned to find out. Love and lashes,

GOD BLESS THE SILVER STALLION Proving that things only get better with age, 43-year-old male model Farhad Z slays his 20-something-year-old counterparts in his most recent photo shoot. Modeling FU e=fu8's latest underwear collection, the silver-haired fox is the epitome of the totally NSFW'esque term DILF. The fitness-model is garnering quite the reputation for himself booking ads such as FU underwear, among many others. In the sizzling, new pics of the stylish undies taken by talented photographer Sam Devries, Farhad rocks fitted-pairs adorned in red, white and blue. Other models accompanying Farhad are half his age but seem a little lackluster in comparison to Farhad's patriotic gusto. Obviously, age isn't everything.
In addition to all of the progress the gay community has made over the past two years, LGBTs have further cemented themselves in history. According to the Associated Press, the Smithsonian will receive major donations of LGBT artifacts for the National Museum of American History. The collection will include LGBTrelevant papers, photographs, items from the set of the groundbreaking sitcom Will & Grace, the diplomatic passports of David Huebner (the first openly gay U.S. ambassador appointed by the Senate) as well as the original transgender pride flag and numerous other items. The flag was created by transgender activist and Navy veteran Monica Helms. Speaking to Out Traveler about her creation being included with the collection, Helms says, “I feel honored, but I want to share that honor with the trans community. I'm also proud that they accepted my military memorabilia because trans people are still denied the right to serve.” The AP proclaims that the donation is part of a larger effort to document gay and lesbian history. The date for the opening of the exhibition has not been set.

IN THE LONELY HOUR NO MO' According to soulful crooner Sam Smith, us gays need to forget social dating apps such as Tinder and Grindr. He is positive that we need not suffer the dangers and woes of trying to find a good man with the added help of addicting technology. The 22-year-old Brit spoke to Metro, stating that apps are stifling romance and when it came to his own love life, he found his main squeeze the old-fashioned way. “No offense to people who go on Tinder but I just feel like it’s ruining romance, I really do,” he said. “We’re losing the art of conversation and being able to go and speak to people and you’re swiping people.” He also gives insight to the superficialness that surrounds such apps that most single people have come to rely on. “From my experience the most beautiful people I’ve been on dates with are the dumbest, so why would I swipe people who are ‘unattractive’ when I could potentially fall in love with them? Stop Tinder and Grindr!” Since coming out in May, there has been wide-speculation concerning who the talented singer spends his time with. “I’ve been on a couple of dates,” he said. “I’m good at dates. I used to get really nervous but now I’m better. There is one particular guy that I’ve been on a few dates with. I like him but who knows?” Hmm, but just who is this mystery man Smith has been courting? 42 : August 28, 2014
Taylor Swift has finally admitted she is not exactly a die-hard country artist... sort of. During a live-stream on Monday August 18, the singer announced her “first official, documented pop album” entitled 1989. The singer explained that the late '80's was a big inspiration for her fifth album due out on Oct. 27. This seems questionable considering she was only a new-born during the final year of the respective decade. "I loved the chances they were taking," said Swift of the era. "It was apparently a time of limitless potential ... The idea of that was so inspiring to me." Despite the rapport, the leading single and video off the upcoming album, “Shake It Off” has caused a few brows to raise over it's speculative content and suggestive innuendos. An homage to the scrutiny Swift has faced throughout her time in the spotlight, she pokes fun at her well-known, awkward dance moves and even attempting a Mileyish twerk all the while decked out in 80's/90's hip-hop garb. Some have commented that the video is semi-racist, with Swift getting all gangstafied. On the other end of the spectrum, all of the singer's loyal Swifties are head over heels. As always haters are gonna hate. Swift's latest project will undoubtedly be another home-run.
