Atlanta a venue that does not now exist. We have the ultimate show palace in a fine dining establishment,” Yvonne said, “I have visited every establishment serving up drag shows and I can assure you, there is nothing like this in Atlanta! When a guest walks through the doors at Lips they will be wowed!” A big part of Lips' wow factor is the over-the-top glamorous interior: a kaleidoscope of bejeweled mirrors, crystal chandeliers, sconces, marble floors, pink leopard tufted walls, velvet curtains, and a perfectly embellished stage. Each Lips restaurant is identically decorated to keep the concept coherent with all four venues following the same glittery footsteps. Even their signature drinks, like the frozen cosmopolitan, are nationally renowned and quite delicious.
On Friday September 20th the famed drag dining experience Lips opened its doors to a glitz and glam-hungry Atlanta public. FENUXE spoke with the fabulous founder and owner of Lips, Yvonne Lame, in the days prior its grand opening celebration to talk about the unique combination of fine dining and top-notch drag performance. If you've gone out and experienced Atlanta nightlife recently, you know that our drag scene is bustling with lots of talented performers who appear in many different venues. But Yvonne wants to introduce Atlanta to drag dining in his beautiful new show palace known as Lips. Rooted in the South. Born In NY Yvonne is a self-proclaimed Southern boy from Greensboro, North Carolina. He left the Tar Heel state for New York City right after high school to pursue a career in fashion. It was in the big city that Yvonne met Robert DeBenedictis, Paul Galluccio, and Michael Pacca in 1986 and the four created plans for a unique restaurant featuring good food and 16 : September 26, 2013
drag. “The concept was simple,” explains Yvonne, “we wanted to introduce drag to main stream America in a clean, safe environment as dinner theatre.” It was simple concept that caught on like wildfire with lots of media attention and, of course, a bustling business. They soon expanded to San Diego, California and later to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And now their Atlanta location marks the fourth venue for the glittery drag dining concept. Prepare To Be WOWed So, what does an establishment like Lips have to offer a city like Atlanta where drag performers are already an established and important part of the city's nightlife? “Lips will be bringing to
Peak Performances Another major wow factor includes Lips' lineup of incredible drag performances. Guests can expect nothing short of Vegasstyle drag shows complete with amazing theatre lighting and a state-of-the-art sound system. Yvonne ensures that each Lips location maintains her high standards by staying hands on in the company. “I'm on a plane at least twice a month going from location to location working on the show and making sure the 'girls' are giving total overthe-top Vegas drag.” Featured on Atlanta's glittery stage will be drag superstars like Jesse Volt, Phoenix, and Evah Destruction, who are sure woo and wow audiences in an explosion of glitter and glamor. Yvonne promises Lips' drag dining will be different from anything you've ever seen before. As Yvonne so aptly puts it: “Atlanta Lips is one of a kink!” What: Lips Atlanta – The Ultimate in Drag Dining Where: 3011 Buford Hwy NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 Reservations for Lips are being accepted at 404.315.7711. you may not change your hairstyle as radically as you change your wardrobe, but men's hair trends change with the season too. So, FENUXE asked three leading Atlanta hair salons for their take on men's hair trends that we'll see this season.
20 : September 26, 2013
Helmet Midtown, piedmont Avenue helmet Midtown's staff of stylists are seeing an influx of men's hairstyles that begin to play with the length of the hair. and, of course, with more hair comes more options! The strongest trend right now is the continuation of the 50's look. however, there is a shift toward the 60's where haircuts were still classic, but became more experimental and fun. With this look the sides are kept short and your creativity comes into play with side parting. Your part can even be buzzed into your hair making a strong visual statement. The longer hair on top is more voluminous and not as strictly defined or slicked back as before. This leaves more room to play with the style and looks more relaxed. additionally, atlanta men are becoming less estranged to coloring their hair. Even the “ombring” (coloring that is dark at the root and lighter at the tip) look is becoming more popular with guys. Helmethairworx.com
Bubbles Hair Salon, Ansley Mall II The stylists at Bubbles always strive to create individual styles for clients that ďŹ t their personality, shape, and hair type. however, the salon has noticed many clients requesting the 50's "Mad Men" look lately. similar to the trends that helmet has noticed, Bubbles' clients are asking for their sides to be short and tight with lots of volume up top. This is clearly a look that atlanta's men are eagerly adopting. Bubblesatlanta.com
Crimpers Salon, Cheshire Bridge Crimpers salon recognizes that guys (both gay and straight) are starting to come into their own when it comes to their hairstyle. after the strong 20's inuence (think "The Great Gatsby") where hairstyles were longer and more constructed, many guys are becoming less afraid to express themselves through hair. Many men are enjoying the variety of looks achievable when you have more hair to play with. Like helmet and Bubbles, Crimpers is also seeing the short, cropped sides with longer hair on top becoming prevalent. They're not seeing sides as tight as the "Mad Men" look, but sides with a modern slant that allows the hair to be more expressive and carefree when styled. This look was really trendy in new York a year ago and is now trickling down to the south. if atlanta continues to follow new York we can expect to see much longer hair, cropped sides, and wilder hairstyles like the top knot (a small pony tail tied tightly on top of the head). If you've got any sort of facial hair you need to be taking care of it. you wouldn't walk around without washing your hair and the same goes for your facial hair — you've got to wash your beard too! When it comes to your beard it's all about having the right tools and products to help you look your best with a little bit of scruff...
Clean & Clear
Trim & Shape
Precision Work
Styling
Your beard needs to be washed, otherwise oils from your skin and grime can accumulate making it look (and smell) unkempt. You can use your regular shampoo to rinse out dirt and oil. Don't forget to condition afterwards, especially if your beard tends to be coarse. after washing be sure to towel it dry and comb it through.
at some point all beards need a trim – if only to keep edges straight and the mouth clear. a beard trimmer with an adjustable comb will meet most guy's needs, but a smaller trimmer is needed for precision work. always trim your beard when it is completely dry because wet hair is longer and will 'shrinks' when it dries.
Most guys who've had facial hair a while tend to agree that a comb and scissors are a necessity. a comb is perfect for precisely trimming the edges of your beard around your lips and scissors snip away stray and protruding hairs.
if you've ever tried a good beard wax you'll definitely notice the difference in your facial hair. it feels a little bit better and looks better groomed. it's a difference that may just be noticeable to yourself, but that's a hard feeling (and look) to do without.

Facial hair is experiencing a massive revival right now as a stylish and trendy way for men to express individual style. But if you think that sexy scruffy look can be achieved by simply not shaving for a while . . . think again! As a matter of fact, facial hair often requires much more work than a clean-shaven face. If you don't regularly maintain and trim your beard, you will quickly look unkempt and a little too scruffy. So, here are some general guidelines and suggestions for keeping your beard looking its best.
PHOTOGRAPHER JOSH HOBGOOD PHOTOGRAPHY MAKEUP & STYLING MIKKEL HYLDEBRANDT MODELS CHAD WICK, KEOKI SMITH, NICK PARK, SANJAY PARDASANI, JOHN BRYANT & BRIAN POLLARD
FENUXE.COM : 29
The Fade Other than just having stubble this is the shortest style to work with, but it's often the one that requires the most work. Just a few hairs that are too long or sitting out of place will leave you looking unkempt. For the best results, go to a professional barber who will do the initial outline of your facial hair and create the perfect shade. After you get comfortable with it you can copy it at home with a little patience and the right tools.
The Full Beard A full beard can make an awesome statement, especially if you have lots of facial hair and can really pull it off. Keeping a tight neckline is not as important as with the trimmed beard; however, it is still advisable to keep your edges on the cheeks trimmed. This will give your full beard a neat and more tidy appearance. It's also a good idea to regularly trim your beard lightly by cutting of extra long stray hairs and keeping your mouth free. 30 : September 26, 2013
FENUXE.COM : 31
The Full Beard Trimmed If you've got enough facial hair for a full beard then by all means go for it! Many men who choose this look go for a more trimmed version where the mouth area is free, the edges are well defined on the cheeks, and there is a distinct neck line. These features help give the beard a distinctly groomed look. It's really important to remember that your neckline shouldn't be defined too high on your neck. A lot of guys believe it should follow your chin, but that will leave some men with a clownish look. Instead, your neck line should be no more than an inch above your Adam's apple. This way your beard stops on your neck and not in your face.
32 : September 26, 2013
FENUXE.COM : 33
The Goatee A goatee is a great look on many men, especially if you want to create symmetry in your face. Plus, you only need thick growth in the mustache and chin area to pull it off. The tricky part is to get it trimmed just right, so it doesn't look too small on your face. As a rule, your goatee should be oval-shaped with your mustache creating the upper oval of the goatee. The chin part of the goatee is usually rounded, but feel free to experiment with shapes.

CHRIStal Ball Ensures Bright Future For CHRIS Kids Send your best evening wear to the cleaners ladies and gents because CHRIS Kids’ 13th annual CHRIStal Ball is right around the corner. “The CHRIStal Ball honors Atlanta community leaders and organizations who have made significant contributions to improving the lives of children,” CHRIS Kids’ Communication Officer Sally Larsgaard explained. “This year we’re honoring former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin and Georgia-Pacific. Both honorees have contributed to the 32 years of growth that CHRIS Kids has experienced." In addition to recognizing the individuals and corporations that make CHRIS Kids work possible, the CHRIStal Ball is “the largest annual CHRIS Kids event attended by more than 500 corporate, civic and community leaders,” Larsgaard added, “This prestigious silent auction and gala event has raised more than $2 million since 2001.” This year the CHRIStal Ball will be at the Georgia Aquarium (225 Baker Street NW Atlanta, Georgia 303013) on September 28th from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. “This event directly benefits CHRIS Kids. All proceeds go to healing children, strengthening families and building community. The CHRIStal Ball helps to provide sustainment in our CHRIS Counseling Center, JourneyZ group homes, Summit Trail Apartment Community for 54 : September 26, 2013

transition-aged youth, and the newest addition, CHRIS Adoption Services,” Larsgaard explained. So, what can you expect at the CHRIStal Ball this year? “Inspiration and encouragement,” Larsgaard said, “Each year CHRIS Kids youth share their stories. Not only do these personal stories show the types of trauma that has occurred in each youth, but how they are overcoming challenges to succeed. By empowering youth to share their story, it not only inspires guests, but it shows substantial growth in each of the kids and helps them to unlock their potential.” Organizing this year’s event are co-chairs Bernadette Faber and John Nadobny, who are members of the CHRIS Kids Advisory Council. The Advisory Council “advises the CEO and the Board of Directors on ways to better extend our profile and services within the communities we serve, and to act as an Ambassador for CHRIS Kids within each member’s sphere of influence,” Larsgaard said. The annual event is always great fun and it helps CHRIS Kids continue their life changing work. Tickets are available at chriskids.org and there are six different options to choose from. A single ticket is $250 and sponsorship levels start at $1,000.

FENUXE
[SEpT. 23 – OCT. 22] Temper, temper, darling. It is your time to shine, not to shout, and absolutely get over that little stomping your heels routine with folded arms--you are drilling holes into the parquet, and it is NOT cute. Let yourself go, have a whirlwind of a time--let things be light and easy for a change. You don’t need to always clench the reins so tightly. Let go on the 6th. Phew!
scorpio [OCT. 23 – NOV. 22] Is it too tough to tango, or are YOU too tough to tango? Try a 3/3 beat and move on to Waltz. Throw back your head, gulp in some air, thrust that high-held head to the side, relax into the sway of the swing, feel the ruffled petticoats of time brush gently against your calves, feel yourself wooing and being gentled. Fierceness called for on the 27th--don’t despair, use your night vision.
SAGITTARIUS [NOV. 23 – dEC. 21] These weeks have been difficult. It is not easy to have so much power available and yet to feel that you are not calling the plays. You do get to name them yourself, though. Sweet! Know that your Galleon, loaded with Dubloons, is cruising into port, and all are rooting for you! The 8th through the 10th will give you some needed respite before the next whirlwind carrying you away, or shall we say, that you carry off?
Capricorn [dEC. 22 – JAN. 19]
after dark
AQUARIUS [JAN. 20 – FEB. 18] it is all in the timing. A tempestuous romance, up close and personal. Yes, you can feel your pulse quickening already. Take things to the next level on the 28th by remaining true to what you know is right. Gotta love the thrills, though, girl! Rollerskating and shimmying at the same time is a true balancing act. Do you dare?
PISCES [FEB. 19 – MAR. 20] You must learn to shimmy. Yes. Shiimmmmy. That means when things are to tight, you wiggle on out. It also means when things are not tight enough, you wiggle on in. It’s a question of balance, of perceived balance. Don’t matter if you’re right, or not--in the long run it just matters if you can shiiiimmmyy. Wear something eye-catching on the 26th, and the 27th. Just keep on wearing something eye-catching.
ARIES [MAR. 21 – ApR. 19] Velvet cape? To swoop, to parry, or to cover up? It is your call. Yes, it is your turn, too. You lead. Make sure your steps are discernible, your gaze steady. Not the time to flicker. And do try to be a bit more patient with those lesser gods who accompany you. Ahem. Keep quiet on the 10th. It won’t do you or anyone else any good to talk about it.
Achingly, covetously, riotously, thoroughly engaged, you throw yourself into action. It was a leap of faith to finally trust that your intentions were lined up correctly, and even more, that they are set to help you pole-vault to the top of the heap. Remember: kicking and flailing to strut your stuff may cause you more harm than good. Avoid cold winds and gossips on the 9th.
62 : September 26, 2013
Taurus [ApR. 20 – MAy 20] Hunker down, grab yourself some snacks, some close friends, and a good flick. Is it time? When it is, you will be the first to know. Promise. Those closest to you are the ones you know and love best. Trust their counsel. The 3rd-5th will be strenuous by some counts, but you will enjoy them immensely. Very immensely.
GemIni [MAy 21 – JUN. 22] flutter. Kick. Breathe. Stop. Go. Tank. Fill up. Find the connections that are embedded in your seemingly random comings and goings. You have always quickened to a different rhythm--now you have the opportunity to show this to another. Don’t panic at what you don’t know--trust your heart. Go for it. All. On the 29th.
CANCER [JUN. 21 – JUl. 22] The storm abates, things settle, calm once again accompanies the restless and pervasive urge to forge forward, even if that means hopping on one leg--rapidly. Muster your courage, find your compassion, do mix stripes and polka dots, lace if you will. You will have a huge windfall on the 12th and in the process, you will hop, skip, and jump thrice over your own shadow, or, er, shall we say shadows? The flurry of motion, your growth and tenacity astonish all who know you.
LEO [JUl. 23 – AUg. 22] Crouched, ready to spring or to yawn? You deign to meet the world with a half-shrouded gaze, lazing, as it were, in the fine cloaks and tunics bestowed upon you by benefactors. Now is the time of our gathering, sharing, and expressing gratitude where due. Do jaunt, run, leap, and, perchance, court depravity on the 30th.
virgo [AUg. 23 – SEpT. 22] so adept, so capable, so in the know. You turn heads. Then you look for new heads to turn. All are there for you, and it is only the love of the unknown that keeps you doggedly seeking. Choose to commit yourself, risk seeming weak, in suppleness resides great strength. And face it, sweetheart, very few can wear tight skinny jeans quite like you! Do a double take on the 1st. Yes. All for you.

Holler Poodles!!
Ok Ok Ok, I just have to say it! I LOVE pussy! I know! I know! I’m a gay man that loves pussy… So what? I can’t help it! I love pussy so much. Who can resist? Really? They’re just so adorably cute! And so great for snuggling up to on brisk fall days with their warm coats of neatly laid hairs. I don’t know about you, but I could play with my pussy every day--two or three times a day. And afterwards, I find it so calming to just sit and brush pussy. She always seems like she’s so content afterwards, it’s like a low purrr. I admit it. I’m a cat person. While I love dogs too, I love the independence of a cat. I love that I don’t have to rush home to feed her or walk her after a night out with friends. If I stay overnight to “study,” she’ll be just fine the next morning. But inevitably, there are some downsides too. I have a long haired persian whom I cut and groom every three months-almost like clock work. However, the alarm goes off when she jumps on me and I am greeted with the smell of death! Invariably, I grab her by the tail, turn her around, and am greeted with a dark, wrinkled, raisin-ette so putrid, I literally gag as the smell cuts a direct path for my nose. Yet this little bitch is walking around and purring like nothing is wrong... As if she doesn’t know she’s displaying a turd that just won the blue ribbon at the county fair for most foul smelling! I can honestly feel this dingleberry of death taking my breath away. I know I have to do something, but what? I grab a mask from my emergency preparedness kit and some latex gloves to provide a barrier between me and the vampire turd sucking my life force from me. My cat, still “unaware” of the miniature death star hanging off her back end decides its play time and runs away from me as I try to retrieve death’s sickle. In a final stroke of desperation, I grab her while she looks back at me 64 : September 26, 2013
like “why are you grabbing me so forcefully?” I start to extricate the turd from the long hairs around her rear and am simultaneously heaving my last breath out of my lungs when it finally dislodges. Reminiscent of Tim Robbins’ crawl through the sewer of muck in The Shawshank Redemption, I make my way to the toilet and flush! After catching my breath and while rinsing off any trace death’s grip in the shower, I notice my little fur ball looking up at me like nothing has happened-like “Why so dramatic Mary?” I look back at her and say “Oh it’s on bitch!! Your pussy is gonna be bald!!” She knows what I said because she ran and hid. Ooohhhh the joys of pussies! Love and lashes,
