In der Region Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein zu filmen war sehr inspirierend. Wir haben die letzten Einstellungen unseres Films am Strand von St. Peter Ording gedreht. Ein magischer Ort. Wie ein Meer ohne Wasser, ein Ort, wo das Wasser jeden Tag fünf Kilometer zurückweicht. Eine Landschaft, die mich an einen Ort erinnert, an dem ich noch nie war und wo ich immer schon einmal hin wollte: den Mond. Neben St. Peter und der Nordseeküste ist auch die Stadt Hamburg selbst ein Ort voller Charakter – mit einer Landschaft, die hoch industrielle Hafenflächen mit einer sehr kosmopolitischen Stadt mischt, nicht zu vergessen das dramatische, schöne Wetter. Ein Ort, an dem ich liebend gerne einen weiteren Film drehen würde. Shooting in the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein area has been very inspiring. We shot the last part of our movie on the beach of Sankt Peter Ording – it is magic. It is a sea without water, a place where the water receeds 5 kilometers everyday. It is a landscape that reminds me of a place I have always wanted to go and never been – the moon. Besides Sankt Peter and the North Sea Coast there is also Hamburg, the city itself – a place full of character, with a landscape that mixes a highly industrial harbour landscape and a very cosmopolitan city, not to mention its dramatic, beautiful weather. It is a place I certainly would love to make another movie.

H afen F r i edr ic h s ko o g Fr i edr ic hsko o g Har b ou r Im malerischen Hafen von Friedrichskoog an der Nordsee sind heute noch 30 Krabbenkutter beheimatet. Wie fast alle Nordseehäfen ist er an einer Entwässerungsschleuse entstanden. In unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich die Aufzuchtstation für Heuler und Robben, sowie Campingplätze. The picturesque North Sea harbour at Friedrichskoog still harbours 30 shrimp boats. Like most North Sea harbours, it was built on a drainage lock. It is situated near a seal farm and a number of camping grounds.

Speic h erstadt Old War eh ouse Distr ict Die Ende des 19. Jahrhundert erbaute Speicherstadt erfüllt zum großen Teil immer noch ihre Funktion als »Warenlager des Welthandels«. In den lang gestreckten Kontor- und Speicherhäusern mit roten Backsteinfassaden und grünen Kupferdächern werden Importgüter wie Kaffee, Tee, Gewürze oder Teppiche gelagert. Die Speicher liegen jeweils zwischen einer Straße und einem Fleet (Kanal). Zahlreiche Brücken, das Kopfsteinpflaster und die Anreicherung des Backsteinmauerwerks mit Schmuckverbänden und keramischen Ornamenten lassen in diesem schönsten Teil des Hafens etwas von der Romantik der alten Hansestadt aufleben. Built at the end of the 19th century, the Old Warehouse District still partially fulfils its original function as “the warehouse of global trade”. Imported goods such as coffee, tea, spices and carpets are stored in the long stretches of red brick warehouses with green copper roofs. Each warehouse is situated between a street and a canal. Countless bridges, cobbled streets, decorative brickwork and ornamental ceramic elements in the façades revive some of the old Hanseatic romantic flair in this, the most beautiful part of Hamburg’s harbour.

Spi egel- G e bäu de S PI EGEL B u ild ing Das Spiegel-Verlagshaus in Hamburg beherbergt seit 2011 mehr als 1.100 Mitarbeiter und ist gleichzeitig eines der »grünsten« Gebäude der Welt. In dem 13-stöckigen Hochhaus mit 30.000 Quadratmetern Fläche wird besonders auf Energieeffizienz geachtet. Die Glasfassade und die offen gestalteten Büroräume lassen viel Licht in das Gebäude fallen und ermöglichen faszinierende Blicke auf die Stadt. Im weitläufigen Atrium, das von Brücken und Treppen durchzogen ist, wirkt die Architektur wie ein Sinnbild für Transparenz. Not only has the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg provided the offices for more than 1,100 employees since 2011, but it is also one of the “greenest” buildings in the world. Energy efficiency is a top priority throughout the 30,000 square metres in this 13-storey house. The glass façade and open offices allow for plenty of natural light and a spectacular view of the city, while bridges and stairs traverse the expansive atrium, all contributing to a generous, light-flooded architecture that stands symbol for transparency.

P ellworm pellworm Isl an d Die Nordseeinsel Pellworm ist mit rund 42 Quadratkilometern nach Sylt und Amrum die drittgrößte der nordfriesischen Inseln. Zu erreichen ist sie über eine ständige Fährverbindung vom Festland. Die Turmruine der um 1200 erbauten romanischen Kirche prägt das Bild der Insel. The North Sea island of Pellworm covers an area of 42 square kilometres, making it the third-largest North Frisian Island after Sylt and Amrum. It is connected to the mainland by ferry. The ruin of a Romanic church built around 1200 characterizes the islands image.

NORD - O STSEE-Kan al Ki el Cana l Der Nord-Ostsee-Kanal mit fast 100 Kilometern Länge verbindet Nordsee und Ostsee miteinander und führt quer durch Schleswig-Holstein: von der Elbmündung bei Brunsbüttel bis nach Kiel, wo er in die Ostsee fließt. Das Bauwerk gilt nach Anzahl der passierenden Schiffe als weltweit meist befahrene künstliche Wasserstraße. Entlang der Kanalstrecke gibt es zahlreiche Fähren und Brückenbauwerke. Zu sehen ist hier die historische Eisenbahnhochbrücke mit Schwebefähre bei Rendsburg. The Kiel Canal connects the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. It traverses Schleswig-Holstein over a length of 100 kilometres. Its respective ends lie in the cities of Brunsbüttel and Kiel. Statistically speaking, the canal is the world’s most frequented artificial waterway. It features numerous ferries and bridges, such as the historic railway bridge and transporter bridge pictured here.

St. Pau l i / GroSSe Fr ei h eit St. Pau li / GroS S e Fr ei h eit Im Stadtteil St. Pauli befindet sich rund um die Straßen Große Freiheit und Reeperbahn die bekannteste Rotlicht-Meile der Welt. Neonfassaden, käuflicher Sex, Tabledance-Bars und Erotikshops prägen das Bild auf dem Kiez. Insbesondere an den Wochenenden bevölkern Touristen und Partygänger den Stadtteil. Neben einer Vielzahl von Erlebnis-Gastronomie und Diskotheken gibt es immer noch ursprüngliche Hafenkneipen, verruchte kleine Bars und Musikclubs, die den charakteristischen Charme des Nachtlebens auf St. Pauli ausmachen. The quarter of St. Pauli is home to the world’s most famous red-light district, centring around the streets Große Freiheit and Reeperbahn. The area is characterized by neon façades, venal sex, table dance bars and sex shops, and during the weekends it is frequented by countless tourists and partygoers. Numerous venues for event gastronomy and mainstream music are interspersed with original, old harbour pubs, seedy little bars and music clubs that constitute the charm of St. Pauli nightlife.

L an du n gsb rüc ken L an din g B r i dge s Die St. Pauli Landungsbrücken sind eine sehenswerte Touristenattraktion und gleichzeitig ein wichtiger Verkehrsknotenpunkt. Neben U- und S-Bahnstation finden sich hier die Anleger für Hafenrundfahrten und Fähren. Von dem im Reformstil erbauten Tuffstein-Gebäudekomplex hat man einen schönen Ausblick auf die Containerterminals mit ihren vielen Kränen, auf die Werftanlagen und die Musical-Theater am anderen Elbufer. Unterhalb der Kuppelgebäude mit ihren markanten grünen Kupferdächern und dem Pegelturm stehen Imbissbuden und Souvenirshops auf schwimmenden Pontons. The landing bridges in St.Pauli are a tourist attraction well worth seeing, as well as being an important traffic junction. A subway station adjoins the landing bridges for harbour boat trips and public ferries. The main building is built in the “Reform Architecture” style and presents a spectacular view of the container terminals and their many cranes, the dockyards and the musical halls on the opposite shore. The floating pontoons below the domed buildings with their green copper roofs feature snack bars and souvenir shops.

ST. Peter-O r di n g ST. Peter- Or d ing Die Gemeinde St. Peter-Ording liegt an der Westspitze der Halbinsel Eiderstedt an der Nordsee. Charakteristisch für den Ort ist der zwölf Kilometer lange und rund zwei Kilometer breite Sandstrand mit Dünen und den markanten Pfahlbauten direkt am Wasser. Bei Hochwasser oder Sturmfluten wird der Strand regelmäßig zu großen Teilen überspült. The community of St. Peter-Ording lies on the westernmost point of the Eiderstedt peninsula on the North Sea. The area is characterized by a 12-kilometres long and 2-kilometres wide beach with dunes and distinctive stilt houses built directly on the water. The beach is regularly flooded during high tides and storm floods.

U - Bah n hof Hafen C it y U n i versität S u bway Stati on Ha fenCit y Univ ersity Die im Dezember 2012 in Betrieb genommene U-Bahnlinie U4 endet im U-Bahnhof HafenCity Universität. Mehrere namhafte Architekturbüros zusammen haben an dieser Station einen futuristischen Ort entstehen lassen und spielen mit Hafenmotiven, wie beispielsweise Schiffscontainern: Von der Decke des Bahnhofs hängen riesige Lichtelemente, die mit verschiedenfarbigen LEDs den Untergrund beleuchten. Je nach Wetter, Jahres- oder Tageszeit kann die Farbe der Beleuchtung angepasst werden und so verschiedene Stimmungen erzeugen. The U4 subway line was brought into service in 2012 and ends at the station HafenCity Universität. The station was designed by several well-known architecture offices, making it a peculiar, futuristic location reminiscent of various harbour characteristics. Vast ceiling lights resembling ship containers are suspended from the ceiling, illuminating their surroundings in varying colours. The lighting changes in adaptation to the various types of weather, seasons and times of day.

KIEL Ki e l Mit seinem Flair und maritimen Charme ist Kiel die Metropole in Schleswig-Holstein. In der Landeshauptstadt mit 240.000 Einwohnern gehören Sandstrände, Werften und Schiffe ebenso zum Stadtbild, wie urbane studentische Wohnviertel mit einer lebendigen Kultur- und Kneipenszene. Das größte maritime Open Air-Event ist die Kieler Woche, die jährlich mehrere Millionen Besucher anzieht. Neben den Segelwettbewerben auf der Ostsee entsteht für zehn Tage rund um die Förde eine große »Festmeile« mit Veranstaltungsprogramm. Schleswig-Holstein’s metropolis Kiel is marked by marine charm. The regional capital has a population of 240,000 and features sandy beaches, dockyards and ships as well as student residential quarters and a lively cultural scene and nightlife. The “Kieler Woche” is its largest annual open-air event, drawing an audience of one million people. It features various sailing competitions on the Baltic as well as ten days of festivities around the fjord.

Bü stor f Bü stor f Büstorf ist eines der vielen idyllischen Schleidörfer rund um den Fjord in der Nähe von Rieseby. Die Zeit scheint hier stehen geblieben zu sein. Diese kleinen Dörfer mit historischen Kirchen und schönen Reetdachhäusern liegen meist eingebettet zwischen Buchenwäldern, Wiesen und Getreidefeldern. Büstorf is one of several idyllic Schlei villages along the fjord near Rieseby. Here, time seems to have come to a standstill. The quaint little villages boast historic churches and beautiful thatched roof cottages, and are mostly situated between beech groves, meadows and grainfields.

Auss en alster Alster L ake Wasser als prägendes Element: Die Außenalster wirkt wie eine Stadtoase, in der sich beschauliche Motive finden. Neben Segelschiffen und Barkassen auf dem See fahren kleinere Boote auch durch die Fleete und Kanäle. Die Wege rund um den 164 Hektar großen Stausee des Flusses Alster sind bei Spaziergängern und Joggern sehr beliebt. Water is a characteristic element in the city of Hamburg: The Alster Lake comes across as an urban oasis, offering an abundance of peaceful film motifs. Various ships and boats take you out to the lake and through the canals. The paths around the 164hectare lake are very popular with joggers and promenaders.

JVA Fu h lsbüt tel Fu h lsbüttel Pr ison Die Justizvollzugsanstalt in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel, umgangssprachlich auch Santa Fu genannt, hat eine lange Geschichte. Der 1879 errichtete Bau diente zum Teil den Nationalsozialisten als KZ Gefangenenlager und ist heute eine Anstalt des geschlossenen Vollzugs, vorrangig für Häftlinge mit mehr als zwei Jahren Freiheitsstrafe und für Sicherungsverwahrte. Die JVA besteht aus insgesamt vier massiven Backsteinbauten mit derzeit 300 Haftplätzen. Der hier abgebildete zeitweise ungenutzte Trakt mit mehreren über Stahltreppen verbundenen Ebenen und umlaufenden Zellen-Gängen zeigt den traditionellen Gefängnis-Look. The prison in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel, known colloquially as Santa Fu, boasts a long history. Built in 1879, the National Socialists later used it as a concentration camp, and today it serves as a closed correctional facility for prisoners serving two years and upwards. The prison consists of altogether four solid brick buildings with a current capacity for 300 prisoners. The partially unused tract pictured here features several storeys interconnected with steel staircases in a traditional prison look.

Lor e zu r Nor dseehallig N o rth S ea Holm Trolley Die nordfriesischen Halligen Oland und Langeness sind bei Ebbe auch mit einem Feldbahnwagen – einer sogenannten Lore zu erreichen. Überwiegend wird die Lore zum Materialtransport zwischen Festland und Hallig verwendet. At low tide, the North Frisian holms Oland and Langeness can be reached by light railway or trolley. The trolleys are mostly used to transport goods between the mainland and the holms.

G ut Lu dwigsb u rg Lu dwigsbu rg Manor Auf Grundlage einer mittelalterlichen Wasserburg erhebt sich im doppelten Hausgraben das dreigeschossige Herrenhaus. Umgeben ist die Hofanlage von einer Art Festung mit Torhaus. Auf dem Gelände befindet sich noch ein Gestüt mit Pferdezuchtbetrieb, ein Restaurant und ein Hofladen. Die Räumlichkeiten des Herrenhauses können für unterschiedlichste Anlässe gemietet werden. The three-storey manor was built on the foundation of a medieval moated castle. The premises are surrounded by fortifications and a gatehouse and encompass a horse breeding farm, a restaurant and a farm shop. The manor rooms can be rented for various events.

Colon n aden co lonnade n Eine der bekanntesten Einkaufsstraßen in Hamburg sind die Colonnaden, sie verbinden den Jungfernstieg mit der Esplanade und dem Stephansplatz. Die Flaniermeile strahlt durch ihre Gründerzeit-Etagenhäuser im Neorenaissancestil ein großbürgerliches Flair aus. Auf der östlichen Seite werden die Colonnaden von einem Arkadengang gebildet, der ähnlich wie die Alsterarkaden italienische Lebensart verbreitet. Cafés und kleine Fachgeschäfte säumen die Straße. Colonnaden are one of Hamburg’s most famous shopping promenades, connecting Jungfernstieg with Esplanade and Stephansplatz. The popular promenade has a bourgeois air to it thanks to its Wilhelminian neo-renaissance façades. The eastern side of Colonnaden consists of an arcade that evokes Italian lifestyle. The street is seamed with cafés and small shops.

U -Bah n hof Üb erseequarti er Ü b erseequarti er Stati on Mit der neuen U-Bahnlinie U4 wurde Ende 2012 der am nördlichen Elbufer neu entstehende Stadtteil HafenCity erschlossen. Der U-Bahnhof Überseequartier liegt auf dem ehemaligem Hafengelände und nimmt Gestaltungselemente seiner direkten, unterirdischen Umgebung auf. Blaue Kacheln und Chromverkleidungen an den Wänden suggerieren Unterwasserwelten, silberne Bleche an der Decke deuten die Wasseroberfläche an. The Überseequartier subway station boasts a particularly striking design. As one of the stations along the new U4 line, it was inaugurated in November 2012. Blue tiles and chrome panels are suggestive of underwater worlds. Silver panels on the roof represent the water surface.

G ut H ass elb u rg Hasselbu rg Manor Die großzügige Gutsanlage vom Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts liegt in Ostholstein. Im Herrenhaus ist der Barocksaal mit geschwungener Doppeltreppe, Galerie und dem riesigen Deckengemälde berühmt. 1763 erhielt der Saal seinen bezaubernden Rokoko-Stuck. In der Belle Étage befinden sich mehrere Salons mit historischer Möblierung. Es gibt einen unterirdischen Gang, der von der Hasselburg in die Krypta der Altenkremper Kirche führt. In den Scheunen der Gutsanlage finden unter anderem Konzerte und Musikfeste statt. The generous estate is situated in East Holstein and dates back to the early 18th century. The manor is famous for its baroque hall with a great double stairwell, gallery and vast painted ceiling. In 1763 the hall was further adorned with beautiful rococo stucco. The belle étage features several salons with historical furniture. There is an underground passageway connecting Hasselburg Manor with the crypt at the Altenkremp church. The barns now serve as venues for concerts and music festivities.

Lü b ec k A ltstadt Lü b ec k Histor ic C entr e Die typischen Gänge und Höfe in Lübeck sind Überreste aus dem mittelalterlichen Städtebau. Hinter giebelseitigen Straßenhäusern wurden kleine Gebäude, sogenannte Buden, als Wohnraum für Beschäftigte errichtet. Auch heute sind diese kleinen Häuser beliebte Wohnquartiere für Lübecks Einwohner. Die Gänge und Höfe sind fast immer frei zugänglich und über einen Durchgang von der Straße zu erreichen. Lübeck’s typical corridors and backyards are remnants of medieval urban development. Small buildings were constructed behind the gable sided street houses to create extra living space for the workers. Today these small houses are popular living quarters for Lübeck’s citizens. The corridors and yards are mostly freely accessible via a passage from the street.

D o c kl an d Do c k la n d In direkter Nachbarschaft zum Hamburger Fischmarkt und zum Cruise Center Altona zeigt sich das beeindruckende Bürogebäude Dockland. Die Architektur übernimmt die Form eines Parallelogramms und wirkt wie ein Schiffsrumpf. Zu den Besonderheiten zählen die durchgehende Glasfassade und schräg verlaufende Aufzüge sowie die öffentliche Aussichtsplattform auf dem Dach. Der sechsgeschossige Bau mit repräsentativem Blick auf den Hafen steht auf einem Sockel mitten in der Elbe und bildet mit seiner Lage zwischen Norderelbe und Fischereihafen das »Tor zur Stadt«. The impressive Dockland office building neighbours directly on Hamburg’s fish market and Cruise Center Altona. Its architecture is shaped in the form of a parallelogram and is reminiscent of a ship’s hull. Furthermore, the building features a continuous glass façade as well as diagonal elevators and a public viewing platform on the roof. The six-storey building with a representative view of the harbour stands on a pedestal in the Elbe River and symbolizes a “Gateway to the City” between the Northern Elbe and the fishing harbour.

F len sb u rg flensbu rg Die Hafenstadt Flensburg liegt am Flensburg Fjord im Norden Schleswig-Holsteins direkt an der dänischen Grenze. Hier vermischen sich deutsche und dänische Kulturen. Es gibt eine wunderschöne lebendige Altstadt, maritime Wohnsiedlungen und viel Gewerbe. Hier wird zum Beispiel das Bier mit dem »plop« gebraut, werden Offiziere der Marine ausgebildet und Handball auf Höchstniveau gespielt. The harbour city of Flensburg is situated on Flensburg Fjord in the North of Schleswig-Holstein, directly on the Danish border. It displays a mixture of German and Danish culture. Sc h lo ss G lüc ksb u rg Glüc ksbu rg Castle Das Wasserschloss zählt zu den bedeutendsten Bauwerken Schleswig-Holsteins. Es liegt an der Flensburger Förde, nahe der dänischen Grenze und wurde zwischen 1582 und 1587 erbaut. Jahrhunderte lang war der weiße Renaissancebau herzogliche und königliche Residenz. Heute dient er als Museum und als Ort kultureller Veranstaltungen. Die Ausstattung des Schlosses stammt vorwiegend aus dem Barock. In der Kapelle im unteren Bereich eines der vier Ecktürme können sich Hochzeitspaare trauen lassen. Situated directly on the water at the Flensburg Fjord near the Danish border, Glücksburg Castle is one of Schleswig-Holstein’s most prominent buildings, built between 1582 and 1587. For centuries, the white renaissance building was a ducal and royal residence. Today it serves as a museum and a venue for cultural events. The castle’s interior mostly dates back to the baroque age. One of its four towers contains a chapel, in which couples can marry.

Der 10-stöckige Bau aus braunviolettem Backstein im Kontorhausviertel wird aufgelockert durch Arkaden, keramischen Wandschmuck und durch die Staffelung der oberen Etagen mit auffällig zurück gesetzten Terrassen. Der Architekt Fritz Höger baute das Chilehaus in den Jahren 1922 bis 1924 im Auftrag des Reeders Henry B. Sloman. Im Innenhof an der kleinen Straße Fischertwiete befinden sich zahlreiche Geschäfte und Gastronomie. The figurehead of brickwork expressionism is reminiscent of a ship’s bow. The 10-storey building in the old office house quarter is made of brown-purple bricks, loosened up by arcades, ornamental ceramic elements and graded, terraced upper storeys. Chile House was built by the architect Fritz Höger between 1922 and 1924 and was commissioned by the shipping company owner Henry B. Sloman. The courtyard at Fischertwiete houses numerous shops as well as a restaurant.

Auch abends ist die Fläche zwischen Museumshafen und Schröders Elbpark ein beliebter Treffpunkt. Gegenüber wird durch die großen Containerterminals die Geschäftigkeit des Hafenbetriebs spürbar. Hamburgians enjoy the summer and the sun on the sandy beach at the old pilot’s and captain’s village of Övelgönne. In the evening, the area between the historic harbour and Schröder’s Elbe Park is a popular meeting-point. And the constant bustle of the harbour is ever-present on account of the major container terminals on the opposite shore.

S e e b rüc ke Kellen h usen K ell en h usen Pi er Das Ostseebad Kellenhusen liegt rund 18 Kilometer nordöstlich von Neustadt/Holstein. Die 2007 eingeweihte Seebrücke besteht aus einer futuristisch wirkenden Stahl- und Betonkonstruktion, ist über 300 Meter lang und liegt zwischen 2,80 und 3,70 Metern über dem Wasser. The Baltic spa town of Kellenhusen lies 18 kilometres northeast of Neustadt/Holstein. Inaugurated in 2007, its pier is a futuristic steel and concrete construction of more than 300 metres length, situated at 2.8 to 3.7 metres above sea level. The roofed pier head is situated next to a viewing platform and includes a landing place for ships.

Sc h lo ss G ra bau Grabau Manor Hou se Das Herrenhaus wurde von 1906 bis 1908 errichtet und befindet sich heute in Privatbesitz. Mit seinem Stilkonglomerat aus Gotik, Tudor und Jugenstil bildet es eine Ausnahmeerscheinung in der Architektur Schleswig-Holsteins. Die Vorbilder für das Herrenhaus sind in englischen und schottischen Landsitzen zu suchen. Aufgrund seiner pittoresken Gestalt wird das Gebäude von der Bevölkerung auch oft als Spukschloss bezeichnet. The manor house was constructed from 1906 to 1908 and is now privately owned. Its mixture of gothic, Tudor and art nouveau styles make it an exception in the architectural landscape of Schleswig-Holstein. Its inspiration can be found in the English and Scottish country houses. On account of its picturesque appearance, the general population often refers to the manor as a haunted house.

H a n delskamm er B örsen sa al C ham b er of Com m erc e Trading Flo or Die Handelskammer entstand 1841 als spätklassizistischer Bau und wurde nach mehreren Erweiterungen mit der Rückseite des Hamburger Rathauses verbunden. Der Börsensaal zeichnet sich durch seine lichte Höhe und die schmuckreichen umgebenden Bogengänge aus und kann ebenso wie der angrenzende Commerzsaal für Veranstaltungen gemietet werden. The Chamber of Commerce is a late neo-classicist building constructed in 1841 that was later extended to connect to the back of Hamburg’s town hall. The trading floor is characterized by unobstructed high ceilings and decorative surrounding archways and can be rented as an event venue, as can the adjoining hall of commerce.

Im Sommer finden hier auch kulturelle Veranstaltungen statt. The HafenCity Magellan Terraces are situated at Sandtorhafen opposite Sandtorpark. The terraced square of smooth, white concrete leads to the pier with a mooring area for historic ships and provides an impressive view of the Elbe Philharmonic Hall. The Magellan Terraces also serve as a venue for various cultural events.

graswar der graswar der Der Graswarder ist eine langgestreckte Halbinsel in der Nähe von Heiligenhafen an der Ostsee. Hier stehen einige private malerische Fachwerk- und Holzhäuser direkt am Strand, die größtenteils für touristische Zwecke genutzt und angemietet werden können. Graswarder is an elongated Baltic peninsula near Heiligenhafen. It features individual, picturesque wooden and half-timber houses standing directly on the beach, most of them used for tourist purposes and available for renting.

A lter ELbtu n n el Old Elb e Tu nn el Im 1911 eingeweihten Alten Elbtunnel führen historische Treppen und Aufzüge für Kraftfahrzeuge zu den beiden parallel laufenden Tunnelröhren hinab. Hunderte von Glühbirnen zu beiden Seiten, perspektivisch in fast einem Punkt zusammenlaufend, spiegeln sich in blanken Kacheln mit maritimen Motiven, die den 410 Meter langen Tunnel prägen. Der quadratische Kuppelbau des Eingangsgebäudes mit hoch gestreckten Fenstern und braunen Sandsteinquadern erinnert in seinem klassizistischen Stil an das Pantheon in Rom. Inaugurated in 1911, the Old Elbe Tunnel features historic stairs and vehicle lifts leading down to the two parallel tunnel tubes. Both sides are lined by hundreds of light bulbs, perspectively reducing to a single point and mirrored in gleaming tiles that sport marine motifs along the tunnel length of 410 metres. The square dome construction of the entrance building features tall windows and brown sandstone building blocks, reminiscent in its neoclassical style of the Pantheon in Rome.
