Global vernetzt Ressourcenverbrauch steuern Globally networked control of resource consumption
Seit mehr als sechs Jahren lehrt und forscht Silvia Apprich an der FH Campus Wien. Sie hat das Bachelorstudium Verpackungstechnologie mitaufgebaut, war maßgeblich an der Konzeption und der Akkreditierung des englisch sprachigen Masterstudiums Packaging Technology and Sustainability beteiligt und leitet zu diesen beiden nun auch den Bachelorstudiengang Nachhaltiges Ressourcenmanagement.
Silvia Apprich has been teaching and researching at FH Campus Wien for more than six years. She helped set up the Bachelor's Degree Program Packaging Technology, was significantly involved in the conception and accreditation of the English-language Master's Degree Program Packaging Technology and Sustainability and in addition now also heads the Bachelor's Degree Program Sustainable Management of Resources.
Nachhaltigkeit, wie definieren Sie diesen Begriff? Hier ist mir wichtig, dass nicht nur die ökologische, sondern auch die ökonomische und soziale Dimension mitbetrachtet werden. Der Ressourcenverbrauch muss so gesteuert werden, dass die Deckung der Bedürfnisse auch für nachfolgende Generationen sichergestellt ist.
Sustainability, how do you define this term? Here, it is important to me that not only the ecological, but also the economic and social dimensions are taken into account. The consumption of resources must be controlled in such a way that the needs are also met for future generations.
Sie sind promovierte Lebensmittel- und Biotechnologin, welche Lebensmittel sind vorbildlich verpackt, welche haben dringenden Aufholbedarf? Die Produktion von Lebensmitteln ist sehr energie- und ressourcenintensiv. Der Produktschutz muss bei Verpackungen klar an erster Stelle stehen, um einer Verschwendung von Ressourcen entgegenzuwirken. Eine Reduktion an Verpackung fällt in vielen Fällen schwer, denn verminderter Schutz fördert Produktschäden. Gute Verpackungsbeispiele sind für mich Getränkeverbundkartons, etwa für Milch. Produkte, die ich anders verpacken würde, sind hauptsächlich im Pralinenbereich zu finden. Gemeinsam mit der FH Burgenland und der FH Wiener Neustadt bieten Sie ein Curriculum zum Thema Kreislaufwirtschaft an, das letztes Jahr beim Österreichischen Sustainability Award mit Platz drei ausgezeichnet wurde, worum geht es dabei?
You have a doctorate in food and biotechnology, which foods are packaged in an exemplary manner, which ones have an urgent need for improvement? The production of food is very energy and resource intensive. When it comes to packaging, product protection must clearly come first in order to counteract a waste of resources. In many cases, it is difficult to reduce the amount of packaging used, because reduced protection can lead to product damage. For me, good packaging examples are composite beverage cartons, for example for milk. Products that I would pack differently can mainly be found in the praline sector. Together with FH Burgenland and FH Wiener Neustadt, you offer a curriculum on the topic of circular economy, which was awarded third place at the Austrian Sustainability Award last year, what is it about?
